• gdb: SIGTRAP on std::string::c_str() call

  So I've been trying to use gdb to return the value of a string I have by calling > print <member variable name>.c_str() But everytime I do so, I get this: Program received signal SIGTRAP, Trace/breakpoint trap. <some address> in std::string::c_str() from /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6 GDB remains in the frame where the signal was received. To change this behavior use "set unwindonsignal on" Evaluation of the expression containing the function (std::string::c_str() const) will be abandoned. Two questions: Why/how is the standard library throwing SIGTRAP? I checked basic_string.h and c_str() is defined as: const _CharT* c_str() const { return _M_data(); } I don't see any SIGTRAP-throwing here... is there a way to get around this SIGTRAP? How can I read the text value of the std::string out (without getting some crazy extension library) in gdb?

• Fatal Error when using ADODB in VB6 on Windows Server 2003 SP2

  We've got a legacy app (VB6) which works fine on an old Windows Server 2003 box and has been for many years. Recently we've had to move it to a different physical location and in doing this we cloned the box with virtualisation and placed it elsewhere. In theory these two environments should be identical. On the new box however the app falls over when calling the RecordCount method of an ADODB.Recordset. I should say that I can successfully read the ADODB.RecordSet.Properties.Count property with no problem on the line before. The event viewer reports the following: Event Type: Error Event Source: Application Error Event Category: (100) Event ID: 1000 Date: 28/09/2012 Time: 11:15:27 User: N/A Computer: APP01 Description: Faulting application Control.exe, version 1.0.0.6, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.2.3790.4789, fault address 0x0002c6e4. I can only imagine there is something wrong with using ADODB within a virtualised environment. Any ideas?

• Problem with Delete Link?

  When I click on the delete link I created, it doesn't do anything (even the flash[:notice] part) in the controller. Am I not calling the .delete? part correctly? The POST part works as I can add tips.   I traced an oracle process, and find it first open a file /etc/netconfig as file handle 11, and then duplicate it as 256 by calling fcntl with parameter F_DUPFD, and then close the original file handle 11. Later it read using file handle 256. So what's the point to duplicate the file handle?   I have a Django form that uses an integer field to lookup a model object by its primary key. The form has a save() method that uses the model object referred to by the integer field. • how to get the camera data

  Hello ,guys, My app needs to get the camera data from Iphone. In my ImagePickerController, there is overlayView drawing realtime indications. I use UIGetScreenImage() to get the screenshot, and I also dump overlayview to image, then I can restore the original Image based on these two images. if the overlayView is still, it works quite well, but if the overlayView keeps changing, UIGetScreenImage() can not keep up with it. For example,if the overlayView changes from a rectangle to a circle, then calling UIGetScreenImage() returns with a rectangle on top of it. Is there a way to get the realtime camera data? I really appreciate if someone could help.

• pushViewController for same instance - only for animation purpose

  Hi there, I am having single table view in a view controller. That table view lists the countries first. When I click on a country(row), it has to push the same view controller's view with cities under that country. I need to see the slide animation, which we usally get while pushing views in navigator. Is it possible to use the pushViewController for the same view controller by calling the tableView reloadData with city data (This should happen when country is selected) ?   Why does this code fail to compile, but compiles successfully when I uncomment the indicated line? (I'm using Scala 2.8 nightly). • input file cannot be found

  I am just messing around with reading input files with java until I got stumped at the most basic of steps... finding the input file! The input.txt file is in the same directory as my class file that is calling it yet eclipse still gives me an error that it cant be found: "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.Error: Unresolved compilation problem: Unhandled exception type FileNotFoundException" My code: package pa; import java.util.Scanner; public class Project { public static void main(String[] args) { java.io.File file = new java.io.File("input.txt"); System.out.println(file.getAbsolutePath()); Scanner input = new Scanner(file); } } input.txt is in the same package, same folder and everything. • No GPS updates on Galaxy S3

  I'm developing a GPS tracker and it works like a charm. But a couple of weeks ago a customer of me (a trackage company) bought Samsung Galaxy S3 for his drivers. And since that we have really strange behaviour of my app. The app receives location updates from GPS receiver, but after some hours of work it doesn't receive any location updates. I have registered the app for onGpsStatusChanged() too and in this time onGpsStatusChanged() was called (I see that GPS receiver have 10-17 satellites!), but the method onLocationChanged() was not called! After the service restart (=re-registering of LocationListener) it works again. It is really strange. It seems that after some hours of work the GPS reciever is not in the mood for calling onLocationChanged() :) Any idea what may be wrong?

• Killing COM object from C#

  I have a COM object that we are calling from C#. This works great, and I have my own pool of objects that I can use whenever I want. Now I need to kill the object. I've tried releasing the COM object explicitly and then garbage collecting from another thread, but that does nothing. Does anyone have any other ideas to kill this object? Thanks for the help. • Have the default security settings changed in Windows 7 that would affect IPrincipal.IsInRole?

  We use NTLM auth in our application to determine whether a user can perform certain operations. We use the IPrincipal of their current Windows login (in WinForms applications), calling IsInRole to check for specific group memberships. To check that a user is a local administrator on the machine, we use: AppDomain.CurrentDomain.SetPrincipalPolicy(PrincipalPolicy.WindowsPrincipal); ... bool allowed = Thread.CurrentPrincipal.IsInRole(@"Builtin\Administrators") This works if the current user is the Administrator user, or is another user that is a member of the Builtin\Administrators group. In our testing on Windows 7, we have found that this no longer works as expected. The Administrator user still works fine, but any other user that is a member of the Builtin\Administrators group returns false for the IsInRole call. What could be causing this difference? I have a gut feeling that a default setting has changed somewhere (possible in gpedit), but cannot find anything that looks like the culprit.

• Can I make DataGridView.EndEdit trigger the CellValidating event?

  I'm using a DataGridView in my WinForms application. My main objective is to make the Enter key not move to the next row in the grid. I still want the enter key to validate and end edit mode. I found this FAQ entry and subclassed DataGridView to override ProcessDialogKey(). If the key pressed is Enter, I call EndEdit(), otherwise I call base.ProcessDialogKey(). It works great, except the CellValidating event isn't fired. Currently, I'm just manually calling my validation logic before I call EndEdit, but it seems like I'm missing something. I guess I could call OnCellValidating, but then I'd be worried I'm missing some other event. What I really want is some flavour of EndEdit() that behaves just like pressing enter on the last row of a grid with adding disabled.

  I am doing a software for a document system. In this system when a user completes a document and want to save it, the document will be uploaded directly to server without the user action. This system uses COM/ActiveX to facilitate user using native editors. Ok, my problem is: suppose I have a file say d:/notepad.txt. Using classical method a user can browse the file and upload it. I can do that with apache commonio and GWT FormPanel and FileUpload. But if I know the filename (d:/notepad.txt), is there any way to upload the file directly to server without the user having to browse the file. I am currently doing this by the ActiveX componenet calling some HttpUpload methods with POST. But that does not maintain session. Thanks

  I remember seeing a question on my official MS 70-536 exam that talked about a simple class that was designed to be exposed for COM calling clients and etc. of all the members defined in the classes I chose the answer D. The one that used a generic. My question to you guys is this: If you were designing a .net custom type that was to be eventually consumed by a com caller or a com type .... of all the guidelines I have read on this subject. Generics is the one .Net topic I would not include in a class for this purpose I would omit such a data member or use something else? Am I right in thinking this. As soon as I saw this question I knew it was generics but I can't seem to prove it. Surely I did not make this up ... generics is a .net feature right?

• Android - Looking for an AOP solution

  I'm writing an application that on the bottom line uses it's internal API for some manipulations. The problem is that to call any method provided by that class first I (or anybody who uses the API) have to call #prepare() and after that #cleanup(). It all worked fine until the application and the API started to grow. And the risk of not calling one of the supplied methods before or after the API is now to big to be ignored (which makes it a bug risky application). Searching for a solution I found this question. I use Google Guice in my app for other purposes, but Android doesn't support AOP, that's why a use only guice-no_aop-x.jar. So I end-up with two questions: Is there an AOP solution for android to implement the same approach that is shown in the link above? Or may be someone has an idea that will be suitable for my case?   Hello, I have a PHP script that has a runtime of 34 seconds. But it dies after 30 seconds. I guess my webhost a time limit of 30 seconds. I am thinking of splitting the script into two parts say PHP-1 and PHP-2. Can I call PHP-2 from PHP-1 and kill PHP-1? Both scripts have to run in sequence, so calling both of them using cron is not possible. [ My host provides cron with interval 5 mins and does not allow to change the start time] -Will this circumvent the time limit set by host?

  Spring 3.0.2, Hibernate 3.5.0, Hibernate-Validator 4.0.2.GA I am trying to inject Spring dependencies into a ConstraintValidator using: @PersistenceContext private EntityManager entityManager; I have configured the application context with: <bean id="validator" class="org.springframework.validation.beanvalidation.LocalValidatorFactoryBean"/> Which, according to the Spring documentation, should allow “custom ConstraintValidators to benefit from dependency injection like any other Spring bean” Within the debugger I can see Spring calling getBean to create the ConstraintValidator. Later when flush triggers the preInsert, a different ConstraintValidator is created and called. The problem is the EntityManager is null within this new ConstraintValidator. I’ve tried injecting other dependencies within the ConstraintValidator and these are always null. Does anyone know if it is possible to inject dependencies into a ConstraintValidator?

• How do I pass custom variables to javascript events?

  I have a user control with a javascript function which references some controls within the user control. This user control works perfectly when there is only one instance of it, but I'm now building a page where I have two instances of the user control. In IE7, it works fine, but in FireFox, it is getting confused that there is two functions of the exact same name and signature. So on UserControl1, it'll be running the function in UserControl2 and modifying that content. I'm thinking my best solution would be to pass the clientID of the components I need TO the function instead of just directly referencing it in the function. How would I do that? The signature of the javascript function is like this function nodeClicking(sender, args) and I'm calling it in an event like this <telerik:RadTreeView runat="server" ID="OrgUnitTreeView" OnInit="TreeViewLoad" OnClientNodeClicking="**nodeClicking**" EnableViewState="true" DataTextField = "OrganisationUnitName" DataValueField = "OrganisationUnitCode" DataFieldParentID = "ParentOrganisationUnitCode" DataFieldID = "OrganisationUnitCode"> How do I add extra variables to the function signature.

• How to correctly open WCF service

  Hi there, I'm using WCF client like this... var client = new TestClient(); try { response = service.Operation(request); } finally { try { if (client.State != CommunicationState.Faulted) client.Close(); } catch (Exception) { client.Abort(); } } but from time to time I get 500 HTTP error which is the only answer I get for next 15 minutes, then everything is back to normal for 15 minutes and so on. I know there is some load balancing stuff going on service side but guys there can't find any problems with it. That's why I started wondering am I using WCF service correctly. I already made a mistake once when I was using "using" to close service connection and I'm afraid I doing something wrong again. So can anybody say whether my way of calling WCF service is correct or not in all (event the most rare) circumstances?
