  • Large ResultSet on postgresql query

    - by tuler
I'm running a query against a table in a postgresql database. The database is on a remote machine. The table has around 30 sub-tables using postgresql partitioning capability. The query will return a large result set, something around 1.8 million rows. In my code I use spring jdbc support, method JdbcTemplate.query, but my RowCallbackHandler is not being called. My best guess is that the postgresql jdbc driver (I use version 8.3-603.jdbc4) is accumulating the result in memory before calling my code. I thought the fetchSize configuration could control this, but I tried it and nothing changes. I did this as postgresql manual recomended. This query worked fine when I used Oracle XE. But I'm trying to migrate to postgresql because of the partitioning feature, which is not available in Oracle XE. My environment: Postgresql 8.3 Windows Server 2008 Enterprise 64-bit JRE 1.6 64-bit Spring 2.5.6 Postgresql JDBC Driver 8.3-603

  • pushViewController for same instance - only for animation purpose

    - by techastute
Hi there, I am having single table view in a view controller. That table view lists the countries first. When I click on a country(row), it has to push the same view controller's view with cities under that country. I need to see the slide animation, which we usally get while pushing views in navigator. Is it possible to use the pushViewController for the same view controller by calling the tableView reloadData with city data (This should happen when country is selected) ? Please let me know whether it is possible.. Thanks in advance.. Raj

  • JSR-303 dependency injection and Hibernate

    - by Jam
Spring 3.0.2, Hibernate 3.5.0, Hibernate-Validator 4.0.2.GA I am trying to inject Spring dependencies into a ConstraintValidator using: @PersistenceContext private EntityManager entityManager; I have configured the application context with: <bean id="validator" class="org.springframework.validation.beanvalidation.LocalValidatorFactoryBean"/> Which, according to the Spring documentation, should allow “custom ConstraintValidators to benefit from dependency injection like any other Spring bean” Within the debugger I can see Spring calling getBean to create the ConstraintValidator. Later when flush triggers the preInsert, a different ConstraintValidator is created and called. The problem is the EntityManager is null within this new ConstraintValidator. I’ve tried injecting other dependencies within the ConstraintValidator and these are always null. Does anyone know if it is possible to inject dependencies into a ConstraintValidator?

  • Prototype Ajax.Updater Response OK, but not showing up in FF. working in Safari!

    - by koko
Hi, I've got a quite strange problem here. I'm calling some simple code via Ajax.Updater: new Ajax.Updater('load','http://myurl.com/demo.pl?key=demokey&param1=xyz&param2=abc',{ method:'get', onComplete:function(transport){ alert(transport.responseText) } }); which gets some code like this: <img id="2009_04_15_1239786246" src='../pv/100/2009_04_15_1239786246-01.jpg' border="1"> <img id="2009_04_15_1239786066" src='../pv/100/2009_04_15_1239786066-01.jpg' border="1"> ... and so on This code shows up in my firebug console as my server response, so everything should be fine. No errors here at all. Works fine in Safari. Firefox, according to Firebug, knows there is a response, but it won't show a thing in my div 'load' and the alert(transport.responseText) is also empty. I have no idea what could be the problem here.

  • Is closing/disposing an SqlDataReader needed if you are already closing the sqlconnection?

    - by Brian
I noticed This question, but my question is a bit more specific. Is there any advantage to using using (SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(conStr)) { using (SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand()) { // dostuff } } instead of using (SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(conStr)) { SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand(); // dostuff } Obviously it does matter run more than one command with the same connection, since closing an SqlDataReader is more efficient than closing and reopening a connection (calling conn.Close();conn.Open(); will also free up the connection). I see many people insist that failure to close the DataReader means leaving open connection resources around, but doesn't that only apply if you don't close the connection?

  • How to change the HTML text to Right-to-Left order when rendering the text within a WebBrowser.

    - by Java Doe
hi, I am using a WebBrowser to render some HTML text. The WebBrowser is located within a rich client. I can detect the window's orientation when the rich client is launched. How do I make the text rendered within the WebBrowser to be dispayed in RTL order. I have tried body.setDir("rtl"), but it only aligned all the text in the WebBrowser to the right. It does not really reverse the content. For example, I have a photo that is displayed on the left and then a segment of text displayed on the right. After calling body.setDir("rtl"), it only aligned everything to the right in the WebBrowser, but it did not move the photo to the right, and it did not move the text to the left. Thanks a lot!

  • Why do my buttons stay pressed?

    - by Timmmm
In my activity I respond to an onClick() by replacing the current view with a new one (setContentView()). For some reason when I do this and then go back to the original view later the button I originally pressed still looks like it is pressed. If you 'refresh' it somehow (e.g. scroll over it with the trackball) then it reverts to the unpressed state. It's as if the button doesn't get the 'touch-up' event. The weird thing is: This only happens on my T-Mobile Pulse (android 1.5). It doesn't happen on the emulator. I've tried calling invalidate()/postInvalidate() on the view when I show it but it doesn't have any effect.

  • Ajax dynamic content from .aspx page

    - by Nano
Hi, I'm using this Ajax script (http://www.dhtmlgoodies.com/index.html?whichScript=ajax-dynamic-content) to load content from an aspx page on another server than the page calling the content. So far I've learned that this is a no go. The problem seems to be that when using an absolute link to content the script fails as apposed to using a relative link. I've searched the web for about 10 hours now, and I still haven't found what I'm looking for. I'm in need of some expert help here. Appreciate any help. Best regards Nano

  • [Java] Force an unchecked call

    - by François Cassistat
Hello, Sometimes, when using Java reflection or some special storing operation into Object, you end up with unchecked warnings. I got used to it and when I can't do anything about it, I document why one call is unchecked and why it should be considered as safe. But, for the first time, I've got an error about a unchecked call. This function : public <K,V extends SomeClass & SomeOtherClass<K>> void doSomethingWithSomeMap (Map map, V data); I thought that calling it this way : Map someMap = ...; SomeClass someData = ...; doSomethingWithSomeMap(someMap, someData); would give me an unchecked call warning. Jikes does a warning, but javac gives me an error : Error: <K,V>doSomethingWithSomeMap(java.util.Map<K,V>,V) in SomeClass cannot be applied to (java.util.Map,SomeClass) Any way to force it to compile with a warning? Thanks.

  • GData API works in Android 2.0 SDK & up?

    - by user266361
I used GData API to pull in Calender info. It works fine if I use 1.6. But the same code, if I change to Android 2.0 & up, it would throw AuthenticationException. Below is my code for ur ref: CalendarService myService = new CalendarService("My Application"); myService.setUserCredentials(args[0],args[1]); // Set up the URL and the object that will handle the connection: URL feedUrl = new URL("http://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/"+args[0]+"/private/full"); args[0] & args[1] are the credentials. AuthenticationException will be thrown when calling myService.setUserCredentials(). Anybody has any clue?

  • Returning Json object from controller action to jQuery

    - by PsychoCoder
    I'm attempting to get this working properly (2 days now). I'm working on a log in where I'm calling the controller action from jQuery, passing it a JSON object (utilizing json2.js) and returning a Json object from the controller. I'm able to call the action fine, but instead of being able to put the response where I want it it just opens a new window with this printed on the screen: {"Message":"Invalid username/password combination"} And the URL looks like http://localhost:13719/Account/LogOn so instead of calling the action and not reloading the page it's taking the user to the controller, which isn't good. So now for some code, first the controller code [HttpPost] public ActionResult LogOn(LogOnModel model, string returnUrl = "") { if (ModelState.IsValid) { var login = ObjectFactory.GetInstance<IRepository<PhotographerLogin>>(); var user = login.FindOne(x => x.Login == model.Username && x.Pwd == model.Password); if (user == null) return Json(new FailedLoginViewModel { Message = "Invalid username/password combination" }); else { if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(returnUrl)) return Redirect(returnUrl); else return RedirectToAction("Index", "Home"); } } return RedirectToAction("Index", "Home"); } And the jQuery code $("#signin_submit").click(function () { var login = getLogin(); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "../Account/LogOn", data: JSON.stringify(login), dataType: 'json', contentType: 'application/json; charset=utf-8', error: function (xhr) { $("#message").text(xhr.statusText); }, success: function (result) { } }); }); function getLogin() { var un = $("#username").val(); var pwd = $("#password").val(); var rememberMe = $("#rememberme").val(); return (un == "") ? null : { Username: un, Password: pwd, RememberMe: rememberMe }; } In case you need to see the actual login form here that is as well <fieldset id="signin_menu"> <div> <span id="message"></span> </div> <% Html.EnableClientValidation(); %> <% using (Html.BeginForm("LogOn", "Account", FormMethod.Post, new { @id = "signin" })) {%> <% ViewContext.FormContext.ValidationSummaryId = "valLogOnContainer"; %> <%= Html.LabelFor(m => m.Username) %> <%= Html.TextBoxFor(m => m.Username, new { @class = "inputbox", @tabindex = "4", @id = "username" })%><%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(m => m.Username, "*")%> <p> <%= Html.LabelFor(m=>m.Password) %> <%= Html.PasswordFor(m => m.Password, new { @class = "inputbox", @tabindex = "5", @id = "password" })%><%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(m => m.Password, "*")%> </p> <p class="remember"> <input id="signin_submit" value="Sign in" tabindex="6" type="submit"/> <%= Html.CheckBoxFor(m => m.RememberMe, new { @class = "inputbox", @tabindex = "7", @id = "rememberme" })%> <%= Html.LabelFor(m => m.RememberMe) %> <p class="forgot"> <a href="#" id="forgot_password_link" title="Click here to reset your password.">Forgot your password?</a> </p> <p class="forgot-username"> <a href="#" id="forgot_username_link" title="Fogot your login name? We can help with that">Forgot your username?</a> </p> </p> <%= Html.ValidationSummaryJQuery("Please fix the following errors.", new Dictionary<string, object> { { "id", "valLogOnContainer" } })%> <% } %> </fieldset> The login form is loaded on the main page with <% Html.RenderPartial("LogonControl");%> Not sure if that has any bearing on this or not but thought I'd mention it. EDIT: The login form is loaded similar to the Twitter login, click a link and the form loads with the help of jQuery & CSS

  • Why does this explicit call of a Scala method allow it to be implicitly resolved?

    - by Matt R
    Why does this code fail to compile, but compiles successfully when I uncomment the indicated line? (I'm using Scala 2.8 nightly). It seems that explicitly calling string2Wrapper allows it to be used implicitly from that point on. class A { import Implicits.string2Wrapper def foo() { //string2Wrapper("A") ==> "B" // <-- uncomment } def bar() { "A" ==> "B" "B" ==> "C" "C" ==> "D" } object Implicits { implicit def string2Wrapper(s: String) = new Wrapper(s) class Wrapper(s: String) { def ==>(s2: String) {} } } }

  • Very long tree control inside a <frame>

    - by ryancerium
I have an tree control inside of a frame. It's quite tall, around 2000 pixels. Right now, we use the frame's scroll bars, which is mostly good. Unfortunately, when you select an item near the bottom of the list, the page reloads and the view goes back to the top of the list. I tried calling the tree control's ScrollNodeIntoView() function, but since we're not using the tree's scroll bars, it just thinks that it's displaying the full 2000 pixels and the control doesn't have its own scroll bar. I'm not much of an HTML guru, so I have two ideas, neither of which I know how to do. 1) Tell the frame to not to let the tree render all 2000 pixels and instead stay inside the viewable area. 2) Tell the tree to not render all 2000 pixels and instead stay within the viewable area. Setting the CSS height property on the within the frame doesn't do anything. Thanks.

  • How do I create a random method name

    - by Russ Bradberry
I plan on using JSONP to call an external webservice to get around the fact that I dont want to create a global function that could potentially conflict with the calling page. I thought that creating a random function name and passing it up would work. Something like this: <script src="www.foo.com/b?cb=d357534"> where cb is the callback function name, the server would return d357534({my json data}); what i want to know is how to create the random function name, im sure i could use eval but is this the best way to go about it? essentially, what i am trying to do is this: var d + Math.floor(Math.random()*1000001) = function(){...

  • How do I make a child control re-anchor to its parent Form when it has been cut off on a small resol

    - by Paul Fedory
I have a Windows Form with a default size of 1100 x 400, and I have a DataGridView control on it anchored to Top, Left, Bottom, Right. Resizing the form on a screen with resolution higher than 1100 x 400 works fine, and the anchoring works well, resizing the DataGridView control as expected. When I launch the form on a screen with resolution 800x600, the form is cut off, and made to fit the 800 x 600. The DataGridView is cut off, and cannot be seen entirely - it bleeds off the form to the right, so it's not respecting the right anchor. Resizing the form in this situation doesn't respect the anchoring settings for some reason: the DataGridView control does not resize when the form is resized. Is there a way programmatically (on a resize event or something) to force the child DataGridView control to anchor to the sides of the form? I've already tried calling a PerformLayout and Refresh in the Form's resize event but it's rather redundant, isn't it?

  • Use Tomcat with Java SecurityManager?

    - by pauline
I'm writing a web application that is supposed to run on Tomcat on Ubuntu. On Ubuntu, Tomcat is per default configured to run with the Java SecurityManager. Besides my own web application, there will only be some well known third party web applications related to my own, like the BIRT report engine. If one of the web applications fails or gets compromised, it may take down all the others without harm, because they all belong together. What I don't wont to happen is that a compromised web app compromises the system itself, like calling rm -r / Do I need to use the java security manager to achieve this? Or is it only necessary to protect one web app from the other? I'd really like to prevent the effort to create .policy files for all the 3rd party web applications I intend to use.

  • How to get some xml that comes before and a little from after a DOM Node.

    - by startoftext
I am using java and I am pretty open to using w3c DOM or DOM4J at this point. So lets say I have a Node like a text node that I have found something interesting in, like say an occurrence of a substring in the nodes text. If I want to get a string with a number characters preceding that node and a few characters after that node how may I do that? Basically I need to be able to display a snippet of the original xml around the occurrence of that string. The problem I have with getting the parent node for example and then calling asXML is that I no longer know the exact location of the substring in the text node. If I search again for that string value in the parents xml then I may find 2 occurrences or many more if the parent has other children that contain an occurrence of that string. Much appreciation if any one can answer this question.

  • Are bit operations quick?

    - by flashnik
I'm dealing with a problem which needs to work with a lot of data. Currently its' values are represented as unsigned int. I know that real values do not exceed some limit, say 1000. That means that I can use unsigned short to store it. One profit is that it'll use less space. Do I have to pay for it by loosing in performance? Another assumption. I decided to store data as short but all calling functions use int, so I need to convert between these datatypes when storing/extracting values. Wiil the performance lost be dramatic? Third assumption. Due to great wish to econom memory I decided to use not short but just 10 bits packed into array of unsigned int. What will happen in this case comparing with previous ones?

  • gdb: SIGTRAP on std::string::c_str() call

    - by sheepsimulator
So I've been trying to use gdb to return the value of a string I have by calling > print <member variable name>.c_str() But everytime I do so, I get this: Program received signal SIGTRAP, Trace/breakpoint trap. <some address> in std::string::c_str() from /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6 GDB remains in the frame where the signal was received. To change this behavior use "set unwindonsignal on" Evaluation of the expression containing the function (std::string::c_str() const) will be abandoned. Two questions: Why/how is the standard library throwing SIGTRAP? I checked basic_string.h and c_str() is defined as: const _CharT* c_str() const { return _M_data(); } I don't see any SIGTRAP-throwing here... is there a way to get around this SIGTRAP? How can I read the text value of the std::string out (without getting some crazy extension library) in gdb?

  • Reading from a oracle temp table in a separate procedure than the one it was populted in

    - by Bob
I have a 2 stored procedures, the first creates an oracle temp table and the second reads from it. The temp table only has scope for that session. I'm calling the procedures from .Net and the second procedure never returns any results. However if I use the same sprocs and parameters in SQL*Plus it works fine. I've tried creating an Oracle Transaction object and had hoped I'd be able to read the tables in while still using the same transaction - trying to emulate an SQL Plus type of single connection environment. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong??

  • Ways to call Blocks within Magento: createBlock vs Layout xml file

    - by N. B.
Context: I'm trying to include Adminhtml blocks in the frontend of the site to replace some of the user account blocks. The first thing I'm trying to do is simply display the block on the correct page. I can replace the entire page by setting the Body of the response inside the controller, but I'm having a hard time including the block in the layout xml file and then calling it within the template. Why would I be able to create an adminhtml/sales_order_grid from Mage_Sales_OrderController using createBlock: $this->getResponse()->setBody($this->getLayout()->createBlock('adminhtml/sales_order_grid')->toHtml()); But not from a frontend layout, using a declaration <block type="adminhtml/sales_order_grid" name="orders_widget"/> within app/design/frontend/default/default/layout/sales.xml The latter produces an error without a stack trace: Fatal error: Call to a member function toHtml() on a non-object in app/code/core/Mage/Core/Model/Layout.php on line 526 Thanks for any guidance!

  • Having trouble routing a page in ruby

    - by rockyroadster555
I currently have a users model and controller, whenever a user is created it makes there profile url at example.com/users/userid. I also have a users/new page and a users/index page. The issue is that when I try to create a users/selected users page rails thinks its a user id and gives me this error. "Couldn't find User with id=selectedusers." I've previously been able to fix this by directly calling the pages in the controller e.g index, or new but I'm not sure how to handle a page that doesent have a function in the controller. Thank you

  • what's the purpose of fcntl with parameter F_DUPFD

    - by Daniel
    I traced an oracle process, and find it first open a file /etc/netconfig as file handle 11, and then duplicate it as 256 by calling fcntl with parameter F_DUPFD, and then close the original file handle 11. Later it read using file handle 256. So what's the point to duplicate the file handle? Why not just work on the original file handle? 12931: 0.0006 open("/etc/netconfig", O_RDONLY|O_LARGEFILE) = 11 12931: 0.0002 fcntl(11, F_DUPFD, 0x00000100) = 256 12931: 0.0001 close(11) = 0 12931: 0.0002 read(256, " # p r a g m a i d e n".., 1024) = 1024 12931: 0.0003 read(256, " t s t p i _ c".., 1024) = 215 12931: 0.0002 read(256, 0x106957054, 1024) = 0 12931: 0.0001 lseek(256, 0, SEEK_SET) = 0 12931: 0.0002 read(256, " # p r a g m a i d e n".., 1024) = 1024 12931: 0.0003 read(256, " t s t p i _ c".., 1024) = 215 12931: 0.0003 read(256, 0x106957054, 1024) = 0 12931: 0.0001 close(256) = 0

  • Create a bubble effect on a grid OpenGL-ES

    - by Charles Michael
Hi there. I have created a grid with 40 x 40 vertex3D (small but useful) I can pick a single vertex out of that grid by simply calling a function with the position array[X][Y], And therefore neighbors too. How can I raise up neighbor vertex Z value so they kinda look like a bubble or sphere kind of thingy? My first tough was to use: Neighbor_vertex.Z = sin(PI/4 * 1 - ( 1/ distance_between_Neighbor_and_Pivot) ) * desired_Max_Height But all I got is something like a wave.... and I would like to have a bubble or Sphere like shape. THX dudes and dudettes
