• Problems connecting Centos on VMware to the network using bridged connection.

  Hi, I installed CentOs on VMware running on windows XP. When trying to configure it to connect to the internet in a bridged configuration, I get an error message when trying to bring up the network interface: [root@VMLinux ~]# /et/init.d/network start Bringing up loopback interface: [ OK ] Bringing up interface eth0: Determining IP information for eth0... failed [FAILED] VM is running on a machine that has access to the network, I tried it on two different networks that have DHCP enabled. Everything works fine when using a NAT connection through my host. How can I make the bridge work for me? Thanks.

I've heard around, that I can access another PC in network by address like "Router IP:port number". Am I right or i got it wrong? So how do I configure router to let connections to certain ports? • Best way to split LAN computers on two WANs (not load balancing)

  What is the best way to split the computers of a LAN (about 50 computers) to go on two WANs, depending on the computers' IP address or computers' configuration (gateway). I'm not looking for load-balancing, I need to be able to route which computer uses which Internet connection. A solution would be to rewire the old office to split the two distinct groups that need to use two different Internet connections but I'm not sure it's worth it at the moment. I have a pfSense router configured with the LAN (DHCP), WAN1 and WAN2. I also have the IP addresses (and ability to configure) the next router on WAN1 and the one on WAN2. What would you suggest? Routing based on IP addresses ranges? Different gateways? VLANs would be difficult for the same reason as to why rewire is a bit complicated. Thanks!

  I downloaded latest php version from php.net i.e. PHP 5.4.8 I configured it with following command ./configure --with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs --with-mysql --enable-intl --with-libdir=lib64 --with-pear --with-mcrypt --with-mhash --enable-mbstring --with-iconv --with-icu-dir=/usr --with-gettext --with-curl --with-mysqli --with-freetype --with-gd --with-curlwrappers --with-jpeg-dir=/usr --with-png-dir=/usr After this I run 'make' which start building / compiling PHP. After some time It throws me error ext/intl/.libs/php_intl.o: In function `zm_startup_intl': php-5.4.8/ext/intl/php_intl.c:651: undefined reference to `spoofchecker_register_Spoofchecker_class' php-5.4.8/ext/intl/php_intl.c:654: undefined reference to `spoofchecker_register_constants' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make: *** [sapi/cli/php] Error 1 Spent lots of hours finding solutions. I can't come out of any. Does anyone know what this error exactly means? How to get rid of this error?

• Session Variables lost between pages reloads

  I was forced to move to IIS 7 when the server running our IIS 6 died. Nothing in the web app has changed, but it's obvious the environment has dramatically. The app fails between pages because the session variables are lost during redirect. I am not an expert on app pools but my impression from reading several posts is that the app pool is being recycled immediately. While they give a reason, they offer no help in how to resolve this. Can someone explain to a newb how to properly configure the DefaultAppPool?

• Attach certificate to remote desktop connection - not gateway services

  I have a Windows server that I want to attach a 3rd party signed certificate for remote desktop connections. This is not a remote desktop services server, i.e. it is just remote desktop administration. There is lots of info on the internet about attaching a certificate to remote desktop services, but I want to attach mine to just plain remote desktop connection for administration purposes. If anyone know how to do this, please holler! I have imported the certificate into the Remote Desktop store in the certificates mmc snap in, and have tried running the wmic command in this question (Configure custom SSL certificate for RDP on Windows Server 2012 in Remote Administration mode?) but this fails. • Volume display for laptop missing after driver update

  I have a Dell Inspiron 1520, and I just updated my audio drivers to be able to use Stereo Mix. It's a SigmaTel audio driver. Prior to the update, whenever I used the hardware buttons to update volume or mute/unmute speakers, it would always have a nice display like this one: But, for volume instead of screen brightness. The hardware buttons still work fortunately, but the volume display is gone. Is there a place I can configure this setting and re-enable it? The speaker icon in task tray was also disabled with the update, but I re-enabled that from the Control Panel. Is this simply gone with the driver update? Thanks for the help!

• rsync - How to exclude one .htaccess but not all of them

  I have an rsync command for copying my files from dev to production. I don't want to copy the .htaccess file that's in the root of the HTML directory but, I do want to copy the few .htaccess files that are in its sub directories. I'm using the argument --exclude .htaccess which is stopping all of the files from getting copied. The other arguments I'm including are -a --recursive --times --perms. Is it possible to configure rsync to do this? • Connecting to FileZilla FTP Server on XAMPP localhost with Dreamweaver

  I am running XAMPP 1.7.4. I've installed the FileZilla FTP server and I'm running it as a service. I created a user and when I connect as that user with the FileZilla client, I have no trouble connecting. However, in Dreamweaver CS5 when I create a site using the Manage Sites dialog and go to configure its FTP settings, I get a message that reads An FTP error occurred - cannot make connection to host. and goes on to list some possible causes and solutions. I have tried setting the connection as passive to no avail. I understand that it is not necessary to use FTP when I am editing the site locally, but it is for a Dreamweaver class I am teaching and I want my students to learn to use Dreamweaver's FTP tools. How can I make my localhost FTP connection work in Dreamweaver?

The problem: Connections from LAN IPs to WAN show fine, i.e. SRC=192.168.32.10 - DST=60.242.67.190 but for traffic coming from WAN to LAN it will show the WAN IP as the source, but the routers IP as the destination, then the router - LAN IP. I.e. SRC=60.242.67.190 - DST=192.168.32.199 SRC=192.168.32.199(router) - DST=192.168.32.10 How do I configure it so that it logs the conversations correctly? • Office 2010 always reconfiguring itself on startup

  I've just installed Office 2010 Professional Plus (upgrading from Office 2007). It works fine under my admin account, but when I login with my wifes non-admin account, every time I open a document or start an app (Word, Excel, Publisher ...) Office 2010 goes through its configuration process (starting the the standard install dialog and then running the bootstrap process) before it loads the app - which wastes 2-3 minutes. Once it's done this, the app runs fine and I can make setting changes that are remembered when it restarts, but I can't work out why it thinks it needs to configure the app each time. Any thoughts?

  I setup Postfix and Dovecot on a new Ubuntu box following these directions. From a client machine, I validate that POP3 seems to be working telnet mydomain.com 110 +OK Dovecot ready. USER [email protected] +OK PASS mypassword +OK Logged in. quit +OK Logging out. However, when trying to configure Gmail on the same client to retrieve email via POP3, I get the error Server denied POP3 access for the given username and password. Server returned error: "Login failed." I carefully confirmed that Gmail is configured to use the same POP Server, Port, Username and Password I used when checking the connection with telnet. What could be causing Gmail to get a "Login failed" message?

I have a dns load balancing mechanism and an alias (hostAlias) which may point to host01, or host02 I want to configure apache and shibboleth to work with that alias. What happens is ... User types : https://hostAlias (it points to host01) apache host01 : redirect to shibboleth shibboleth host01 : redirect to **https://hostAlias.cern.ch/Shibboleth.sso/ADFS** Now, there are two cases. Either this time hostAlias will point again to host01 , or it will point to host02. If it points to host02, host01 will not get the anwser and the authentication fails. Also, about ssl certificates, I guess that each host will need its own certificate. right ? Should I need a certificate with DNS aliases ? Thanks in advance !

After that it shows critical status. I know my command is not correct but cannot detect the problem. I learned that in this plug-in user-name and password of the host router are required but don't know how and where to provide it. Nagios log does not show any error message.   I am running Office Communicator 2007 R2 and Outlook 2010 on a Microsoft Exchange Server 2010. I am storing my conversation history from Communicator in Exchange in the default folder, "Conversation History". I'm using the conversation view in Outlook. And I have a Gmail-like macro to archive my conversations to an "Archive" folder. I want to search all my mail and conversations at once. By default, Outlook is searching in the current folder only. I tried creating a rule to move the conversations to my Archive folder, but couldn't configure it correctly.

• How can I reduce the CPU usage of Offline Files?

  Whenever I have the Offline Files service running, there is a constant 25% CPU usage on svchost.exe (this is a quad core, so that means it's using up one core). This, in turn, triples the power consumption and keeps the machine hot... I do have several GB synchronized (music collection), but they are not changing at all, in either side. Am I misusing this feature? Is there anything I can configure to keep it down when there's nothing to do? Or should I forget about it and synchronize big folders manually?

  My Windows XP laptop has two different DNS suffix lists. The first is the one I see by selecting the Properties dialog of any of my network connections, selecting Internet Protocol Properties Advanced DNS tab, and looking at the list under the "Append these DNS suffixes (in order)" option. The second list is the one shown under "DNS Suffix Search List" when I run ipconfig /all. As far as I can tell, only the second list ever gets used to resolve unqualified host names. Why are there two different lists? How do I configure the second list? Or how can I make my computer use the first list?

We are using iPlanet 7 and Oracle Directory Server Enterprise 7 as our LDAP server. The situation is that the site is still CAC/PKI enabled, but at the firewall. The information we want to authenticate against is now in the http header. How do I configure iPlanet and LDAP to authenticate against the header instead of SSL? Thanks. • Debugging an IP Camera

  Further to my previous question on ServerFault here, I finally can view the stream on RTSP however I still cannot view the camera stream in a web browser. The IP camera uses an activeX control in Internet Explorer. And although I can configure the camera settings from IE, I cannot view the stream it shows connecting for a few sec and shows disconnecting. I have forwarded the HTTP, RTSP and Stream ports of the IP camera. the public port is 7071 and private port is 7070. When I try to see the connections in TCPView it shows that the ActiveX control in IE is trying to connect to port 7070 which is quite unusual since it should connect to 7071 Also the state shows SYN_SENT for sometime and then disconnects. I have really no clue what's going on and why?

  I'd like to set up my network like this, and I want to make sure it's possible using the hardware I have. I think it should be... I've got my cable modem in one room. I want to plug it into an Apple Airport Express and create my wireless my wireless network here. The airport express will do the NAT and DHCP. By my TV there are a few things to be networked (Xbox and Tivo). I have an airport extreme here. I'd like to have the airport extreme join the wireless network and share the connection to the ethernet ports. Can anyone provide some assistance on the best way to configure to do this? Thanks!
