  • Getting text from image on ios (image processing)

    Hi, I am thinking of making an application that requires extracting TEXT from an image. I haven't done any thing similar and I don't want to implement the whole stuff on my own. Is there any known library or open source code (supported for ios, objective-C) which can help me in extracting the text from the image. A basic source code will also do (I will try to modify it as per my need). Kindly let me know if some one has any idea on this. Thanks, Vikram

  • CSS border and the :hover dynamic pseudo-class

    Hi All, I have built a persistent dropline menu with two levels using only CSS. It is pretty standard. It is a nested set of UL's and the UL's :hover state is what shows and hides the sub menu levels. Something like this: | *Pets* | Colors | Cars | | Cats | Dogs | Birds| Goats | Sheep | | Pets | *Colors* | Cars | | Red | Orange | Green | Blue| Yellow | I then added a 1px border at the bottom of the first level UL element. Like this: | *Pets* | Colors | Cars | -------------------------------------- | Cats | Dogs | Birds| Goats | Sheep | When I hover over a first level item (Pets), and then move the mouse down to the second level (Cats), the entire second level disappears. I finally figured out that the UL's 1px border is not included in the hover area for the UL. Can I add a border to the bottom of a dropline menu level without messing up the menu hovering? Thanks!

    How do I get multi-line text on a WPF Button using only C#? I have seen examples of using <LineBreak/> in XAML, but my buttons are created completely programmatically in C#. The number and labels on the buttons correspond to values in the domain model, so I don't think I can use XAML to specify this. I have tried the naive approach below, but it does not work. Button b = new Button(); b.Content = "Two\nLines"; or b.Content = "Two\r\nLines"; In either case, all i see is the first line ("Two") of the text.

    I've used CCK to create a 'Travel Offer' content-type which basically just lists the details for a travel package. My question is how to have a button or link on each node (when the user views it) that will link to a url that includes the title of the current node (eg: example.com/requestQuote/Title_Of_This_Node). I haven't implemented my system yet so I am free to change the content-type to include a button field or something like that...

    I've used a tool from Aspose (Aspose.PDF.kit) to generate a JPG thumbnail on the fly of a PDF for a .NET application. This works great, but what kind of other alternatives are there? Codeproject.com has this tutorial, but it requires you to have the full version of Acrobat. Is there an open source alternative that's geared for ASP.NET?

    I have some Visual Basic Code that creates a chart for each row. It sets the series values using this code: .SeriesCollection(1).Values = "=" & Ws.Name & "!R" & CurrRow & "C3:R" & CurrRow & "C8" What I am struggling with is how do I set the series labels? The series labels will always be the 1st row and be in the corresponding column. I know this is much simplier than the code above, but I am stumped. Any help is appreciated.

  • Disk-based caching of dynamic images in IIS 7

    I'm writing an image server which needs to handle a relatively large number of concurrent requests (~5,000). The images being served are dynamically scaled down and cropped based on per-image specifications, which are queried from a database. The number of images is rather large, so an in-memory cache isn't viable (thrashing would most definitely occur). I'm using native caching in IIS 7 to avoid hitting the ASP.NET app which generates the images on-the-fly. I've looked around, but I couldn't find a simple way to configure IIS to store the cache on-disk -- is there such an option, or would I need to roll my own? I'd rather avoid placing the generated images in a public folder, so they can be served statically, since I would prefer to invalidate the cache entries using a query parameter (last-edit time from the database,) which doesn't seem possible to reconcile with static caching. I would love to get some feedback on this!

    I would have a dialog with the following $("#statusbox").dialog({ autoOpen: false, bgiframe: true, modal: true, width: 'auto', height:'auto', title:"Check Order Status", buttons: { Find: function() { get_status(); }, Close: function() { $(this).dialog('close'); } } }); and when the user hits the find button it runs ajax and returns orders to the dialog and it get dynamically re-sized but it only extends the box down. Is there way to make the box extend up and down so that the dialog remains centered ? also if there was enough content then it could potentially go beyond the bounds of the page so I would think I could use a max height to prevent that but what do I do if they re-size the window ? thanks for any help

Not explaining it that well.     Hi there! I've got a variable which is formatted with random HTML code. I call it to {$text} and i truncate it. The value is for example: <div>Lorem <i>ipsum <b>dolor <span>sit </span>amet</b>, con</i> elit.</div> If i truncate the text's first ~30 letters, I'll get this: <div>Lorem <i>ipsum <b>dolor <span>sit The problem is, I can't close the elements. So, I need a script, which check the <*> elements in the code (where * could be anything), and if it dont have a close tag, close 'em. Please help me in this. Thanks.

    I have page consisting of a calendar view ( http://code.google.com/p/calendardateselect/ ) as well as divs, each of which contain information about a person. In each div I want to have a link to a new controller and action, and pass the id for the person and the date selected in the calendar. I can think of a one way, but I'm thinking there's likely a better solution: 1) Do something like: =link_to_function "Week", "weekClicked(#{person.id})" Then in the weekClicked() javascript method I get the selected date from the calendar, such as: $('e_date').selected_date; then with javascript I could make a post request as mentioned here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/133925/javascript-post-request-like-a-form-submit 2) Or, is there a way that I could make each link a button in it's own form and maybe have a hidden field that gets the selected date from the calendar as or before the form is submitted? I tried this too, but couldn't figure it out. This definitely seems like it's more on the right track than #1. Thanks.

  • Reset UITextField's original placeholder text

    I'm adding some user feedback mechanism into my app. The user types some comments into a text field and when that editing is done it updates a UITextView. Then when the user hits the submit button and moves on in the app the user may have need to send more feedback from the same form for a different item. I can reset the other fields and labels in the app to their default values when I hide the view, but not the textField (?). How can I reestablish the placeholder text next time the user accesses this view? Your suggestions are humbly appreciated.

  • Help me understand dynamic layouts in Sinatra

    Help me understand this; I'm learning Sinatra (and Rails for that matter, er, and Ruby). Say I'm doing a search app. The search form is laid out in one div, and the results will be laid out in another. The search form is rendered into the div by a previous view (maybe from a login form). I want to process the form params, perform the search, and render the results into the results div. If I have a single "yield" in the layout and render the divs from different views, the results div erases the search div when it renders. If I define the divs in the default layout, then just render the content, obviously the layout will be messed up: there would have to be two "yields" and I don't think Sinatra supports passing blocks in to yields. I tried foca's sinatra-content-for plugin, and that seems closer to what I need. But I can't figure out where to place the "yield_content" statements. If I have this haml in my layout: #search -# search form = yield_content :search #results -# search results = yield_content :results ... this in my search view: - content_for :search do %form{:method => "post"... etc. ... and this in the results view: - content_for :results do %table{:class => 'results'... etc. This sort of works but when I render the results view, the search div is emptied out. I would like to have it remain. Am I doing something wrong? How should I set this up?

    I have a small program to do in Java. I have a 2D array filled with 0 and 1, and I must find the largest rhombus (as in square rotated by 90 degrees) and their numbers. Example: 0 1 0 0 0 1 1 0 1 1 1 0 1 0 1 1 1 1 0 1 1 1 1 1 0 0 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 Result: 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 The problem is similar to this SO question. If you have any idea, post it here.

  • C# Button Text Unicode characters.

    C# doesn't want to put Unicode characters on buttons. If I put \u2129 in the Text attribute of the button, the button displays the \u2129, not the Unicode character, (example - I chose 2129 because I could see it in the font currently active on the machine). I saw this question before, link text, but the question isn't really answered, just got around. I am working on applications which are going all over the world, and don't want to install all the fonts, more then "don't want", there are that many that I doubt the machine I am working on has sufficient disk space. Our overseas sales agents supply the Unicode character "numbers". Is there another way forward with this? As an aside, (curiosity), why does it not work?

  • How to link static libs (archives) to an empty dynamic lib with gcc4

    Greetings all! I'm using gcc on linux to create a shared library. The library itself has no code but links to a couple of static libraries(archives) also built using gcc. I need to export the static libs' symbols through my shared library. What happens is that the resulting shared lib is too small and it actually does not contain any of the symbols provided by the static libs mentioned above. I also tried with a map of exported symbols but that did not help at all. Could any of you suggest a solution! 10x in advance

  • Dynamic data-entry value store

    I'm creating a data-entry application where users are allowed to create the entry schema. My first version of this just created a single table per entry schema with each entry spanning a single or multiple columns (for complex types) with the appropriate data type. This allowed for "fast" querying (on small datasets as I didn't index all columns) and simple synchronization where the data-entry was distributed on several databases. I'm not quite happy with this solution though; the only positive thing is the simplicity... I can only store a fixed number of columns. I need to create indexes on all columns. I need to recreate the table on schema changes. Some of my key design criterias are: Very fast querying (Using a simple domain specific query language) Writes doesn't have to be fast Many concurrent users Schemas will change often Schemas might contain many thousand columns The data-entries might be distributed and needs syncronization. Preferable MySQL and SQLite - Databases like DB2 and Oracle is out of the question. Using .Net/Mono I've been thinking of a couple of possible designs, but none of them seems like a good choice. Solution 1: Union like table containing a Type column and one nullable column per type. This avoids joins, but will definitly use a lot of space. Solution 2: Key/value store. All values are stored as string and converted when needed. Also use a lot of space, and of course, I hate having to convert everything to string. Solution 3: Use an xml database or store values as xml. Without any experience I would think this is quite slow (at least for the relational model unless there is some very good xpath support). I also would like to avoid an xml database as other parts of the application fits better as a relational model, and being able to join the data is helpful. I cannot help to think that someone has solved (some of) this already, but I'm unable to find anything. Not quite sure what to search for either... I know market research is doing something like this for their questionnaires, but there are few open source implementations, and the ones I've found doesn't quite fit the bill. PSPP has much of the logic I'm thinking of; primitive column types, many columns, many rows, fast querying and merging. Too bad it doesn't work against a database.. And of course... I don't need 99% of the provided functionality, but a lot of stuff not included. I'm not sure this is the right place to ask such a design related question, but I hope someone here has some tips, know of any existing work, or can point me to a better place to ask such a question.     I have a single table with lots of records ( 100k) that I need to be able to index and search on several text fields. The easiest searches will have the first part of the string specified (eg, LIKE 'ABC%' in SQL). The tougher searches will need to search for any substring within the text fields (eg, LIKE '%ABC%' in SQL). I need to run on the Compact Framework. SQL Compact is a memory hog and overkill for my one table. Besides, I'd like to be able to run on Silverlight 4 eventually. The file and indexes can be generated on the full .NET Framework and I only need read capability on the Compact Framework. My records are not especially large and can be expressed in fix length format. I'm looking for some existing code or libraries to avoid having to write a file-based BTree implementation from scratch.

    So my application uses a LOT of js files. thats a lot of http requests. I decided to combine them dynamically at the server in packs of 3-4 files clubbed by functionality. My client side request is: ...script type="text/javascript" src="http://mydomain.com/core-js.php" ... My server side does: --core-js.php-- header("Content-type: application/x-javascript"); include_once('file1.js'); include_once('file2.js'); include_once('file3.js'); include_once('file4.js'); I am setting a far future expire header on core-js.php. My question is, would core-js.php be cached at the client side? If it would be, could someone please explain how? Thanks!

    Hello, I'm trying to load a existing pdf file, and fill this with database information. Loading the file and everything is working, except for writing data to the loaded page. It doesn't write text to the loaded page. If I add a new page en use a foreach to apply drawing to all pages, all added pages are written, except for the loaded one.
