  • Tomcat myfaces dynamic source files

    Hi, I'm going to try and make as much sense as possible here. We are working on a myfaces 2 app in tomcat. On our local dev machines, whenever we want to change one of our xhtml files, we have to stop the server, deploy and then start the server back up. This is cumbersome and makes making small changes to the view tedious. I tried changing the deployed xhtml file in tomcat, but the server only picks up the new change after a restart. Is there any type of config in myfaces or tomcat I can do to force the rebuilding of these source xhtml's every time?

    Hello, Currently I have an html form - which I call with jquery dialog - to insert new records into a table. But I also would like to update existing records with the same form - using jquery dialog. I'm not sure within the dialog how I access these data values - or pass them in as arguments - and hook them up with the form elements...?     I need to create a form where for each day in the month the user will enter in several different values (Im thinking a grid sort of thing, values along the top, day of the month along the side) using ASP.NET forms with C# backend... So what would be the best way to generate this form? I dont want to hardcode that many controls as it would make the submition a little annoying but i also would need to be able to give it values entered in previous days and have it display them in the textboxes. How would i go about creating this form and also how would i get the values from the textboxes in the backend?

    To use the web service that is part of an SSRS installation, it seems that you need to add a web reference to your project so that you can call it etc (see one of my previous questions). But if I needed to call the web service for different SSRS installations then i need to keep adding extra web references. My asp.net application currently displays reports from several different SSRS installations, not just a single server... Is there a way to either dynamically add the web reference or to dynamically change the server address of where the web service is located?

    I can think of lots of ways to do this on my own, but I was hoping to find some sort of best practice and have been having trouble finding other's experiences. I want to create easily themed HTML and provide a real-time selector for the user to experiment with themes. I want to do something like the "Change Appearance" tab at http://my.yahoo.com . I'll be using jQuery. jQuery has a "theming" system, but it seems very much focused on jQuery widgets as opposed to the whole site, and also doesn't appear to address the real-time selection aspect (the jQuery page has this functionality, but I don't think it's part of the library.) Maybe there is a jQuery plugin that already does this? Or some sort of css/jQuery framework?

    I am building a form that needs to accept characters encoded in SHIFT_JIS and then send those results via email to a recipient. I've tried to simply capture the results from the $_POST variable and then to insert them into a block of text like this: $contents = <<<TEST Name: $NameJp ... TEST but that doesn't appear to work (which doesn't really surprise me). This is my first attempt at dealing with non-ASCII characters in PHP and I am hoping that people might have some suggestions. Perhaps I am missing a simple function to encode the text. Also, are there any other potential pitfalls that I might encounter? Thanks.

    As an example, assume the following simple model: public class Order { public List<LineItem> LineItems { get; set; } public List<Fee> Fees { get; set; } } public class LineItem { } public class Fee { } With RIA Services, if I want to retrieve an Order and include all of it's line items in the same network call, I can statically place an [Include] attribute on the above LineItems collection. This works great for a single scenario, but what happens when I need multiple "include strategies"? For instance, one situation might call for including the Fees collection and NOT the LineItems collection. Is there any way with RIA Services to control what's included at runtime without redefining your model and/or creating dtos with the attributes statically placed for each use-case?

    Hello, the title says it all. I have seen some similar questions on SO like this or this, but either i have overlooked something or my requirement is different, neither works. My situation is following: i have a Masterpage one of its contentpage is called MasterData.aspx MasterData has an asp.net ajax tabcontainer control with one usercontrol in every tabpanel these usercontrols(f.e. MD_Customer.ascx)hold the main content(like a normal page) they all have GridViews in it and i want to provide an Excel-Export-Button What i've tried is is to use an iframe like here. But the function that adds the iframe to the document gets never called and therefore i never see the save-as-dialog. Maybe this is caused by using a MasterPage. Does somebody has an idea on how to provide a button in an UpdatePanel that causes an async postback, so that i can generate a CSV dynamically in codebehind and write it to the response?     I am building a project in asp.net 4.0. My navigation will be database driven where i return a datatable from the db containing all the pages of my site, some will be top level while others will be children and sometimes children of children n-times. Im thinking of going down the nested repeater route and databinding from code behind, dynamically generating repeaters for children, but have read that this is not a best practice and should consider the listview control. Im wanting to build a list of links using an unordered list. I cannot find a solid example and was hoping for some pointers/ideas. Thanks Doo

  • Can't write to dynamic iframe using jQuery

    My goal is to dynamically create an iframe and write ad JavaScript into it using jQuery (e.g. Google AdSense script). My code works on Chrome, but fails intermittently in Firefox i.e. sometimes the ad script runs and renders the ad, and other times it doesn't. When it doesn't work, the script code itself shows up in the iframe. My guess is these intermittent failures occur because the iframe is not ready by the time I write to it. I have tried various iterations of *iframe_html* (my name for the function which is supposed to wait for the iframe to be ready), but no luck. Any help appreciated! PS: I have read various threads (e.g. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/205087/jquery-ready-in-a-dynamically-inserted-iframe).   • Reverse massive text file in Java

    What would be the best approach to reverse a large text file that is uploaded asynchronously to a servlet that reverses this file in a scalable and efficient way? text file can be massive (gigabytes long) can assume mulitple server/clustered environment to do this in a distributed manner. open source libraries are encouraged to consider I was thinking of using Java NIO to treat file as an array on disk (so that I don't have to treat the file as a string buffer in memory). Also, I am thinking of using MapReduce to break up the file and process it in separate machines. Any input is appreciated. Thanks. Daniel

    I have some code that prints a string, but if the string is say: "Blah blah blah"... and there are no line breaks, the text occupies a single line.   • Creating a Mac OS application that interacts with all text fields

    What would be the first step to creating an application for Mac OS X that would take user interaction from any text field in the system? A couple examples of apps that do this are TextExpander and Typinator. What I want to do would be using similar functions to access Text fields throughout the computer during user input to give other additional options, I'm just not sure where to even start in Xcode and with what type of project to use.
