Footer issue in IE6 & 7

Hi At the following site http://www.r2integrated.com/clients/FMX/index.html In IE 6 & 7 the footer's background should be grey; outside of the white box. It looks correct in firefox, chrome & IE8, but not IE6 & 7 the footer's background is white and inside the box. I have tried many things with no luck. I wonder if anyone can offer suggestions? thank you chaser

jPlayer problem in Firefox - also throws error from jQuery?! Not related to OGG support.

I've been working on a small SVG website, http://docroot.ca/ - the SVG part has been working out pretty well. In the current site, jPlayer is called and given an mp3. jPlayer functions properly in Safari, Chrome, and Opera, but not Firefox which throws the following two errors: Error: not well-formed Source File: Line: 1, Column: 191 Source Code: <div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><embed name="jqjp_flash_0" id="jqjp_flash_0" src="js/Jplayer.swf" width="0" height="0" bgcolor="#ffffff" quality="high" FlashVars="id=jPlayerBox&fid=jqjp_flash_0&vol=80" allowScriptAccess="always" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" /></ and: Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... Google groups not finding discussion thread but regular google search does?

I'm having a problem with google groups and finding my own discussion threads. I go to the google group (in my case Android developer group) web view and try to search for my thread by entering the extact title of my thread. But it doesn't appear in the search results. On the other hand, when I search for the same title in the regular google web search, I get the thread right on top of the result list. I thought it might take a while until the groups index all new threads, but still after a few days, it still wouldn't show up. jQuery using .animate() fails to do ANYTHING in IE8

So, it's official: I hate Internet Explorer. Yes, all bloody versions of it. :-D So, I didn't think I was doing anything complicated here, but apparently I am. I have a bunch of list items in an unordered list styled for a navigation menu, and in Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Opera, things work fine. What is supposed to happen is when you hover a navigational item, it should animate some growth and animate a background color change. Nothing happens in Internet Explorer 7/8. I think it's just tied to the animate function, since if I swap .animate with .css, it works. http://project-cypher.net/wtf/ Ideas?

Avoiding cookies while requesting static content

I just did an audit of one of my web application page (built using ASP.Net and running on development server) using Google chrome's developer tool. One particular warning caught my eyes: Serve static content from a cookieless domain (5)! Here is my screen shot (http://yfrog.com/7eauditresultp) as well. I would like to know is it possible to avoid cookies for these kind of requests. I see that there is no cookie requests for javascript files as well. I it possible to avoid cookies in the header for these files as well? and why didn't the browser attach cookies for javascript files and attach for CSS and image? Any thoughts and suggestions are welcome

Cross Browser Testing on Virtual Machines - Issues?

I am part of an organization in which there is contention amongst some very competent folks as to whether or not testing cross-browser behavior for JavaScript applications on virtual machines (for IE6/7/8, FF2/3, Chrome on XP/Vista/7) is reliable. This is using VMWare server on a Linux box host. While the discrepancies seen are few, there are cases in which it has proven difficult to tell if it is a product of virtualization or just different machine configurations. My question to the community is, what is people experience with this? Is there any credence to the claim that VM pose inconsistencies, or are they generally spot-on reliable? Can we trust them?

iframe form not submitting in IE7

For some reason I can submit the form data on this Review and Submit page here in Chrome and FF but not IE7: https://checkout.netsuite.com/s.nl?c=659197&n=1&sc=4&category=confirm Email:[email protected] Pass:test03 Click on "here" where it says "Your Third Party Shipper Numbers (To enter one, click here.)" I removed my javascript that automatically refreshes the page to make sure that wasn't refreshing before anything was submitted somehow. Could the difference in IE7 have to do with the fact that the domain of the form (forms.netsuite.com) is different than the domain of the parent page(checkout.netsuite.com) and it's being submitted over HTTPS?

Html5 Audio plays only once in my Javascript code.

I have a dashboard web-app that I want to play an alert sound if its having problems connecting. The site's ajax code will poll for data and throttle down its refresh rate if it can't connect. Once the server comes back up, the site will continue working. In the mean time I would like a sound to play each time it can't connect (so I know to check the server). Here is that code. This code works. var error_audio = new Audio("audio/"+settings.refresh.error_audio); error_audio.load(); //this gets called when there is a connection error. function onConnectionError() { error_audio.play(); } However the 2nd time through the function the audio doesn't play. Digging around in Chrome's debugger the 'played' attribute in the audio element gets set to true. Setting it to false has no results. Any ideas?

Cant access websites [closed]

Recently i have some problems accessing websites. When i try to access it says This webpage is not available. I tried accessing the site through FireFox, Internet Explorer and Chrome. I also tried with using a web proxy but still the same problem. This problem is only in my Desktop PC, all the websites works fine in my laptop Currently i cant access, yahoo.com download.com bing.com proxy.org daniweb.com aol.com and many forums I check with the host file but nothing is blocked in that. Can some one please suggest what is wrong?? Thanks

Django + WebKit = Broken pipe

I'm running the Django 1.2 development server and I get these Broken Pipe error messages whenever I load a page from it with Chrome or Safari. My co-worker is getting the error as well when he loads a page from his dev server. We don't have these errors when using Opera or Firefox. IE won't start session from an iframe?..

The task was to bypass login form on remote server with a session_id acquired through a call to server's web API. So that user wouldn't have to login twice. Since there's no way to set cookies for different domain. What we came up to was - put a little file on remote server, to which we pass encrypted session_id from hidden iframe and which is supposed to start a proper session for a remote app, which is then loaded in another iframe. This approach works fine in FF/Chrome, but not IE... However if I copy url to self-made remote authorization script from iframe's src attribute to to IE's address bar and load it from there, session get's created as expected. But for some reason it just doesn't want to do the same from an iframe. Does anyone have any clue, why this is happening?

Problem with jQuery's fade in/out in Firefox

When you move your mouse over there small text shows up that says: Napredna pretraga Now, for some reason those letters change color to like yellow for very short period of time in ff 3.5 and to some strange color in safari 4.0.2 for win. In ie8, opera and chrome it works just the way it should, white letters stay white during the animation. IE6 Not submitting POST Data?!

Hello all, I have just tested my site on an old IE6 browser on a windows server. The problem I have is when I submit a form, the POST data I get on the other page is empty. Array(). This site has worked on IE6 on a different windows server, it has worked on my laptop and works on all other major browsers (Firefox, Chrome, IE6,7,8, Safari) etc. Its just this one machine. Is there a setting not to allow post data on IE6? Thanks all

Anchor tags and target behaviour? - HTML

Hi folks, I must say that despite this being a newb question, I don't think I have totally mastered HTML a tags. Whenever I want to open a link in a new tab I add target="_blank", works fine in chrome and firefox. Not in IE7-8. I think the behaviour might have something to do with the DOCTYPE, but I'm not entirely sure. I'm currently using HTML 4.01 Strict. Right now what I am trying to understand is: How to open links in new tabs in IE7-8 How to open links within small windows Help would be very much appreciated! :)

Display Message if Flash Doesn't Show in IE8

Okay...so apparently with the new update in IE8, it starts up with NO add-ons. Since I cannot program a code to turn on add-ons in a browser, I need to show a message when this occurs. Much like an image has alternative text in the event the image doesn't load...how can I add a message that states: You are using Internet Explorer 8+ and need to turn on your add-ins like FLASH Player. This site is optimized for Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. ANy suggestions?

Strange padding in Safari when using SVG images

I thought I was having issues with margins but then on a closer look I found that SVGs are acting funky in Safari 6. I am building a simple Hexagon based website. Of course I used negative vertical margins to for a little overlap to 'inter-lock' the hexagons. And to save space I was using SVG images for the hexagons. It works great in chrome and firefox, but in Safari, there is a strange padding in the SVG images. I'm using simple img tags for the svg images. Everything works when I switch to PNG, but I'd prefer to stick to SVGs. Any insight? Can I perhaps delve into the SVG code and somehow fix the SVG problem in Safari? or is it some sort of bug, that I can do nothing about without browser sniffing?

jsonp cross domain only working in IE

EDIT: At first I thought it wasn't working cross domain at all, now I realize it only works in IE I'm using jQuery to call a web service (ASP.NET .axmx), and trying to us jsonp so that I can call it across different sites. Right now it is working ONLY in IE, but not in Firefox, Chrome, Safari. Also, in IE, a dialog pops up warning "This page is accessing information that is not under its control..." Any ideas? External Javascript Timeout

I have a number of tracking scripts and web services installed on my website and I noticed when one of the services goes down, it still tries to call the external javascript file hosted on a different server. In Firefox, Chrome and other new browsers, there doesn't seem to be any issues when one of the services go down. However, in IE7 and IE8, my pages don't load all the way and time out before everything is displayed. Is there any way to add a time out on these javascript calls to prevent them from breaking my pages when they go down?
