  • Is is possible to use IOCP (or other API) in reactor stle operations?

    Hello, Is there any scalable Win32 API (like IOCP not like select) that gives you reactor style operations on sockets? AFAIK IOCP allows you to receive notification on completed operations like data read or written (proactor) but I'm looking for reactor style of operations: I need to get notification when the socket is readable or writable (reactor). Something similar to epoll, kqueue, /dev/poll ? Is there such API in Win32? If so where can I find a manual on it?

  • floating point precision in ruby on rails model validations

    Hello I am trying to validate a dollar amount using a regex: ^[0-9]+\.[0-9]{2}$ This works fine, but whenever a user submits the form and the dollar amount ends in 0(zero), ruby(or rails?) chops the 0 off. So 500.00 turns into 500.0 thus failing the regex validation. Is there any way to make ruby/rails keep the format entered by the user, regardless of trailing zeros?

  • how to figure out if the present node is the last child of the parent's node

    Hello, I'm trying to figure out how to know if a node is the last child of another, or not. I know how to retrieve the parent's lastChild name ($node-parentNode-lastChild-nodeName), but as sometimes there's many same node names within the same parent, the name is definitly not the way to find the last child. I'm looking for some kind of iterator which can retrieve the number of childs, and depending of the position of the current node, tell if the current node is the last child. Thanks!

I read somewhere this solution, using the accumulation buffer: glAccum(GL_MULT, 0.90); glAccum(GL_ACCUM, 0.10); glAccum(GL_RETURN, 1.0); glFlush(); at the end of the render loop. But nothing happens... What I am missing ?

I'm trying to change CSS values inside the textarea replacement (the iFrame where the text gets written) - but I just can't seem to figure out how.     Hello How can I measure programicaly (not query the OS, but measure) the size and order of associativity of L1 and L2 caches (data caches)? Assumtions about system: It has L1 and L2 cache (may be L3 too, may be cache sharing), It may have a hardware prefetch unit (just like P4+), it has a stable clocksource (tickcounter or good HPET for gettimeofday). There are no assumtions about OS (it can be Linux, Windows, smth non-standart), and we can't use posix queries. Language is C. And Compiler optimizations may be disabled.

In my view Create, Read, Update, and Delete are four reasons for a class to change. Does this class violates Single Responsibility Principle? If it violates, then should we have four classes like CreateUserServiceImpl, ReadUserServiceImpl, UpdateUserServiceImpl, and DeleteUserServiceImpl. Isn't it an overkill to have lots of classes? Say If i have a class with a few getters and setters, a method or two, and i want those methods only to be invokable on an instance object of the class. Does this mean i should use a static method? e.g Obj x = new Obj(); x.someMethod or Obj.someMethod (is this the static way?) I'm rather confused!
