I DO NOT want to use someone else's library to learn this stuff, that bothers me SOOO much. So I was hoping there was a newer book that goes into detail, and doesn't use some sort of library "Hiding" everything from you. Or should I just look at older material? If so....anything thats not "too" out of date. Terrain tutorials are a plus (that's kinda my "goal"). Thanks

  I have scoured the web, and I can't seem to get Xmodmap / anything to work properly. I want to swap BOTH my Command keys with my Control key - in essence, inverting what they do currently. How would I do that? I tried xmodmap -e "keycode 133 = Control_L" and corresponding commands for keycodes 134 (right command) and 37 (control left). I even tried these commands, plus xmodmap -pke > ~/.Xmodmap and xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap in .xinitrc. • Deploying a very simple application

  I have a very simple working console application written in C++ linked with a light static library. It is just for testing purposes. Now that the coding part is done, I would like to know the process of actually deploying the program. I wrote a very basic CMakeLists.txt that create makefiles or VS projects to build the sources. I also have a program that calls the static library in order to make some google tests. To me, the distribution of this application goes like this : to developpers : the src directory with the CMakeLists.txt file (multi-platform distribution) with a README.txt and an INSTALL.txt to users : the executable and a README.txt git repo : everything mentionned above plus the sources for testing and the gtest external lib A this point : considering the complexity of my application, am I doing it right ? Is there any reference that would formalize this deployment process so I can get better and go further ? Say I would like to add dynamic libraries that can be updated, external libraries like boost : how should I package this to deploy it in a professionnal way ?

  I am currently reading CLR via C# ISBN 978-0-7356-2704-8. Whilst quite correctly described by the publisher as a "Deep Dive", this is a book that C# developers with 6-18 months plus experiance ought to read. Certainly any serious Microsoft programming shop ought to have a copy.  For our VB.NET bretheren, a book of this quality is a good excuse to learn C#. (And before you ask, my favourite language of C# and VB.NET is the one that gets me the next contract!) When I started programming 31 years ago I went through IBM 360 Orientation - this gave me an comprehension of what worked best at the machine code level - this is the first book I have found that explains the the working of the Dot Net framework to explain why particular choices are good, This is my first blog post here.   I upgraded my ubuntu from 10.10 to 11.04 and since that day I have been facing issues with Dual Monitor in Ubuntu. When I connect my second monitor during boot time, everything works fine. But when I use my laptop and try to connect a monitor when I am running Ubuntu, I face a weird black screen issue. To see what I mean, following is a screenshot of the same. Here are the problems that happen Desktop background goes away As you can see on the left hand side of the desktop, the right and top portions are black The usual buttons - power button, mail, volumne etc., on the top panel do not work as expected Plus it suddenly crashses at times. And a lot of n other issues associated with this. Is there any patch/release that has happened for these bugs or should I report it anywhere? Help needed.

  I'm now working on an XNA 3D game, and I want to add animated models in it. I came across this example. I see there is one FBX file and a few texture files in the content project, and that in the code you can choose which "take" to play. In this code it is "Take_001". Please tell me: When I create and animate my own 3D model in 3DS Max (2012, since I was told it's only possible in this version), how can I define those takes? plus, are any configurations need to be made when exporting FBX from 3DS Max to XNA?   I just installed GNOME Shell on my 12.04 a couple hours ago. The notifications are just cool, and I installed shell extensions, and it works smoothly in 1 hour. Then I restarted my computer for some reason, start back in to GNOME. And I was surprised with the default notification showed up. It replaced the GNOME notifications! I tried to: Reinstall gnome-shell. (autoremove and install) Reset desktop configuration. But it didn't work at all. Is there anything I can do to fix it? Plus: I got a double notification (osd + gnome notification showed up) when someone chatted me.

But I will have to do the setup all over again (setting up applications/updates). Plus many of my preferences and tweaks I've had in my desktop will be lost and those too I will have to all over again.   I've read about feedback loops, how much this steady state error is for a given gain and what to do to remove this steady state error (add integral and/or derivative gains to the controller), but I don't understand at all why this steady state error occurs in the first place. If I understand how a proportional control works correctly, the output is equal to the current output plus the error, multiplied by the proportional gain (Kp). However, wouldn't the error slowly diminish over time as it is added (reaching 0 at infinite time), not have a steady state error? From my confusion, it seems I'm completely misunderstanding how it works - a proper explanation of how this steady state error eventuates would be fantastic.
