  • WebBrowser control not navigating to links to "file://" protocol URIs

    I am setting the DocumentText property to an HTML string that contains links like: <a href="file:///D:/dir/file.html">NewPage</a> The links are shown properly in the WebBrowser, but nothing happens when I click them. The Navigating, Navigated and DocumentComplete events do not fire - nothing seems to happen at all. AllowNavigation is true and other links using HTTP are working. Any ideas please? Nick

  • How Can I Choose Appropriate ComboBox Value Based on Select ListView Record? - C#.NET

    Contact Title has a default value which is Sales Person. Anyhow, when a user click Edit on the chosen ListView record, i need Contact Title to have the right value that corresponds to the chosen record. For example, if user clicks edit, the fields on the left side will be filled with values. In this case, i want Contact Title to view the right value. How can i do it? I hope my question is clear enough.

  • Reading email content

    Hi, Hope someone may be able to help. What i am looking to do is create a small winform app in c# to read the content of a email from a pop account, and upload key values to a sql automatically. The email format is always the same for each email, eg, First name : Last name : Phone number : etc... Currently the emails are being stored in a pop 3 account however i want a way to reduce having to key the information into the sql by hand. Can anyone advise how i would go about doing this or could recommend some guides? Thanks. Steve

  • System.Drawing - bad text rendering using DrawString on top of transparent pixels.

    When rendering text into a bitmap, I find that text looks very bad when rendered on top of an area with non-opaque alpha. The problem is progressively worse as the underlying pixels become more transparent. If I had to guess I'd say that when underlying pixels are transparent, the text renderer draws any anti-aliased 'gray' pixels as solid black.     I am showing my MDI windows inside the main form but in one part of the splitter panel, like this: Form2 f2= new Form2(); f2.MdiParent = this; f2.Parent = this.splitContainer2.Panel2; f2.Show(); but the problem is that I cannot cascade them if I write a code like this: this.LayoutMdi(System.Windows.Forms.MdiLayout.Cascade); "this" is the parent form. the main form.   • Painting to Form then to Printer

    I often find myself needing to create custom reports that do NOT work with Crystal Reports or Report Viewer. Often, I hack a DataTable together and dumping that into a DataGridView control. It is never pretty, and printing is difficult. What I need is a class that I can call using the OnPaint event, but I've never sat down and written all of the Pen and Brush commands until now. Painting to the screen and painting to a printer both use the Graphics object, so I want to build a class that I'd pass in the Graphics object, my window bounds (a Rectangle), and some data (in the form of an instance of my class) that I'd use to paint a form or a sheet of paper. That sounds like a great concept! Surely, someone has done something like this before. Does anyone know of a book, a website tutorial, or video that goes into this? If someone wants to write all that out for me here, more power to you - but I'd think that would be too much work.

Or, what about this situation: Dim bm As New Bitmap(32,32) bm = New Bitmap(32,32) bm = New Bitmap(32,32) bm = New Bitmap(32,32) Does bm need only to be disposed at the end, or should it be disposed before each re-creation?

  • Is it possible to provide a resize indication (resizer-grip) on a form without adding a status bar?

    I would like to have a resize indication on a windows forms Form (the same resize-grip as when you have a status bar). I do not want to add a status bar to the form - that would break the design of the form. The form can have various controls inside that are docked (Fill). I have not found any solution to this besides drawing the resize indication in lower right corner of every control, which is not very feasible. Is this possible without adding a picture of the resize grip to every control that can be docked in the form?

    I am trying to just draw a Rectangle on a PictureBox that is on a Form.   • Dynamically showing fields to a Dev Express Grid view on windows form

    In one of windows application in C# , I am using Dev Express Grid view control to bind some data and display it to user. I have custom business objects with properties defined for this purpose.Then I simple set the DataSource of the grid to the list of my custom business objects. A while ago , there came a requirement which means that the columns to be displayed on to the grid will be dynamic. This means I cannot know at design time which fields I will need to display. I was thinking of abandoning setting the DataSource and populating the grid manually by code. But I think this will cause many of the grid's features not to work properly, for example , grouping the data by drag n drop of fields to the header area etc. Is there any way to tell a grid at runtime to skip certain fields from a list of BO's when databinding to the grid ?

    Hi All I have what I consider to be a pretty unique problem here, and no idea how to implement. From what I've seen, there is no documentation, tutorials, samples and/or articles on this. I've spent weeks researching, with nothing to show. The problem: I need the user to be able to select the contents of a Label Control at runtime, and edit it. If this can be done by extending the existing Label control, great! Or, if this requires a whole new Label Control to be created, fine. So be it. Using a TextBox is not an option I'm afraid.   • Windows.Forms RichTextBox Control - Avoid inserting large data.

    I have a Windows Form with a RichTextBox on it. The content of the RichTextBox is written to a database field that ist limited to 64k data. For my purpose that is way more than enough text to store. I have set the MaxLength property to avoid insertng more data than allowed. rtcControl.MaxLength = 65536 Howevery, that only restricts the amount of characters that so is allowed to put in the text. But with the formatting overhead from the Rtf I can type more text than I should be allowed to. It even get's worse if I insert a large image, which dosn't increase the TextLength at all but the Rtf Length grows quite a lot. At the moment I check the Length of the richttextboxes' Rtf property in the FormClosing event and display a message to the user if it's to large. However that is just a workaround because I want to disallow putting more data than allowed into the control (like in a textbox if you exceed the MaxLength property nothing is inserted into the control and you hear the default beep(). Any ideas how to achive this? I already tried: using a custom control which extends the richtextbox and shadows th Rtf property to intercept the insertation. But it seems it isn't executed if I add text. Even the TextChanged Event does not fire if I type smth. in the control.

    Hello, I have a Windows Form Application (Form1) that allow the user to open another Forms (FormGraph). In order to open the FormGraph App I use a thread that open it. Here is the code that the thread is running: private void ThreadCreateCurvedGraph() { FormGraph myGraph = new FormGraph(); myGraph.CreateCurvedGraph(...); myGraph.Show(); } My problem is that myGraph closed right after it's open. 1) Does anyone know why this is happening and how to make myGraph stay open? 2) After the user closed myGraph, How do I terminate the thread? I could use XML, MDF or Access database, but data is not secure in the tables. What is the best option? How does Quicken handle it? My application may also have document attachments as well.   • How do I make a child control re-anchor to its parent Form when it has been cut off on a small resol

    I have a Windows Form with a default size of 1100 x 400, and I have a DataGridView control on it anchored to Top, Left, Bottom, Right. Resizing the form on a screen with resolution higher than 1100 x 400 works fine, and the anchoring works well, resizing the DataGridView control as expected. When I launch the form on a screen with resolution 800x600, the form is cut off, and made to fit the 800 x 600. The DataGridView is cut off, and cannot be seen entirely - it bleeds off the form to the right, so it's not respecting the right anchor. Resizing the form in this situation doesn't respect the anchoring settings for some reason: the DataGridView control does not resize when the form is resized. Is there a way programmatically (on a resize event or something) to force the child DataGridView control to anchor to the sides of the form? I've already tried calling a PerformLayout and Refresh in the Form's resize event but it's rather redundant, isn't it?

    If I'm using a ListView in virtual mode then, as I understand it, the list view only keeps track of a small number of items in the list. As the user scrolls it dynamically retrieves items it needs to show from the virtual list. But what if an item is added or removed from the master list? If an item is added/removed outside of the range of indexes being shown by the list view then I would assume the list view would show the added/missing items when the user scrolls to that index. Is this correct? But what if an item is added/removed from the range of indexes the user is currently viewing? How do I trigger the list view to refresh the items it is currently viewing to show the new/missing items?

  • Prevent Casual Piracy for Simple Utility

    I've written a small utility that I wish to sell for less than $10. My primary concern is "casual piracy". The scenario that plays out in my mind is this: User buys the program, enjoys using it and tells their friends. The friends copy the application to their USB drives and take it home - using the application for free (maybe never realizing they should have purchased it. Since I've got absolutely no protection built in, it would just be a simple copy'n paste to pirate the app. The users who would be using the app are in close proximity to each other (work in the same environment), so casual piracy would likely occur frequently. Any ideas? Keeping in mind the app is cheap (partly to reduce casual piracy), and the level of effort to write the app hasn't been very demanding. Update: the app will run on any system that supports .NET 3.5.
