  • How can I draw a Rectangle on a PictureBox?

    - by TooFat
I am trying to just draw a Rectangle on a PictureBox that is on a Form. Writing text like shown here works fine. private void pictureBox1_Paint(object sender, PaintEventArgs e) { using (Font myFont = new Font("Arial", 14)) { e.Graphics.DrawString("Hello .NET Guide!", myFont, Brushes.Green, new Point(2, 2)); } } but when I try to draw a rectangle like so nothing shows up. private void pictureBox1_Paint(object sender, PaintEventArgs e) { Rectangle rect = new Rectangle(); rect.Location = new Point(25, 25); rect.Width = 50; using (Pen pen = new Pen(Color.Red, 2)) { e.Graphics.DrawRectangle(pen, rect); } } What am I missing?

  • Painting to Form then to Printer

    - by jp2code
I often find myself needing to create custom reports that do NOT work with Crystal Reports or Report Viewer. Often, I hack a DataTable together and dumping that into a DataGridView control. It is never pretty, and printing is difficult. What I need is a class that I can call using the OnPaint event, but I've never sat down and written all of the Pen and Brush commands until now. Painting to the screen and painting to a printer both use the Graphics object, so I want to build a class that I'd pass in the Graphics object, my window bounds (a Rectangle), and some data (in the form of an instance of my class) that I'd use to paint a form or a sheet of paper. That sounds like a great concept! Surely, someone has done something like this before. Does anyone know of a book, a website tutorial, or video that goes into this? If someone wants to write all that out for me here, more power to you - but I'd think that would be too much work.

  • How to solve the performance decay of a VB.NET 1.1 application?

    - by marco.ragogna
I have single-thread windows form application written with VB.NET and targeting Framework 1.1. The software communicates with external boards through a serial interface, and it mainly consist of a state machine that run some tests, driven in a loop done with a Timer and an Interval of 50ms. The feedback on the user interface is done through some custom events raised during the tests. The problem that is driving me crazy is that the performance slightly decrease over time, and in particular after 1200/1300 test operations. The memory occupied does not increase over time, it is only the CPU that seems interested by this problem. The strange thing is that, targeting framework 2.0 and using the same identical code, I do not have this problem. I know that is difficult without looking at the code, but do you have suggestions how can I approach the problem?

  • How can I process a form's events in another class / module automatically in VB.NET

    - by CowKingDeluxe
Here's my code: Public Class Form1 End Class Public Class Form1Handler Inherits Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click MsgBox("I") End Sub End Class I'm trying to get Form1Handler to process Form1's events automatically. How can I do this? Should I use a module instead? I'm doing this in VB 2010. I don't want to have to make an event handler in Form1 and then pipe it to the other class / module, is there some way to automatically "pipe" the events from form1 to form1handler?

  • Problem with virtual mouse click

    - by Alex
Hi. I have a program that simulates mouse click. Code is something like this: [DllImport("user32.dll", CharSet = CharSet.Auto, CallingConvention = CallingConvention.StdCall)] public static extern void mouse_event(long dwFlags, long dx, long dy, long cButtons, long dwExtraInfo); private const int MOUSEEVENTF_LEFTDOWN = 0x02; private const int MOUSEEVENTF_LEFTUP = 0x04; public static void DoMouseClick(int x, int y) { Cursor.Position = new Point(x, y); mouse_event(MOUSEEVENTF_LEFTDOWN | MOUSEEVENTF_LEFTUP, x, y, 0, 0); } This code works perfectly. For example I call this function every 30 minutes. But if I press WINKEY+L (Windows is locked) only cursor is moved but not press occurs. Any ideas?

  • I Clean Solution'd my Winform App and now it's broken...

    - by Refracted Paladin
I have a Winform App that uses a 3rd Party Library of Controls, DevExpress. I also created a bunch of Controls myself, extending those controls. Everything has been working fine when all of a sudden I opened VS today and on the Design Page all my extended controls were missing. I then tried rebuilding to no avail. Then I tried Cleaning and Rebuilding and made it even worse. Now I have tons(520) of erros stating things like -- Error 179 The name 'datBirthDate' does not exist in the current context D:\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\MatrixReloaded\MatrixReloaded\Controls\Member\ucGeneral.cs 339 17 MatrixReloaded also if I try to open a form or user control in Design Mode I first get this -- could not find type, "MyType" please make sure that the assembly that contains this type is referenced and then, if I click Ignore and Continue I get this for all Forms and Contros when I try and look at them in Design Mode -- Exception of type System.OutOfMemoryException was thrown Help!?!? When I googled I came across mostly references to VS 2003...I am on 2008 sp1.

  • How do I add/remove items to a ListView in virtual mode?

    - by Eric
If I'm using a ListView in virtual mode then, as I understand it, the list view only keeps track of a small number of items in the list. As the user scrolls it dynamically retrieves items it needs to show from the virtual list. But what if an item is added or removed from the master list? If an item is added/removed outside of the range of indexes being shown by the list view then I would assume the list view would show the added/missing items when the user scrolls to that index. Is this correct? But what if an item is added/removed from the range of indexes the user is currently viewing? How do I trigger the list view to refresh the items it is currently viewing to show the new/missing items?

Currently the emails are being stored in a pop 3 account however i want a way to reduce having to key the information into the sql by hand. Can anyone advise how i would go about doing this or could recommend some guides? Thanks. Steve

  • DataGridView Cell Validating only when 'Enter' is pressed

    - by Eldad
Hi, I want to validate and commit the value entered in the DataGridViewCell ONLY when the user presses the 'Enter' key. If the users presses any other key or mouse button (Arrow keys, Pressing a different cell using the mouse...), I want the behavior to be similar to the 'ESC' key: Move the focus to the new cell and revert the edited cell value to its previous value.

  • C#.NET How to access fields in user control dynamically?

    - by Conor H
Hi, I'm making a settings screen at the moment that will have a radiobutton group which will determine what controls are displayed. The different settings are contained within a UserControl. I am dynamically creating this UserControl like so: panel = new btSettings(); this.Controls.Add(panel); panel.Location = new Point(15, 49); Just wondering how I can access the fields within this control and design time when the object will only be created during run time? Thanks.

  • Failing to send key presses to a running process in C#

    - by Waffles
    I'm using the following code to put the focus on a window (in this case, a notepad window), and sending some key presses to it everytime button 2 is clicked. However, when I press button 2, nothing happens. Can anyone tell my why my sendkeys command is failing? public partial class Form1 : Form { [DllImport("user32.dll")] static extern bool ShowWindow(IntPtr hWnd, int nCmdShow); private Process s; public Form1() { InitializeComponent(); } private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { this.s = new Process(); s.StartInfo.FileName = "notepad"; s.Start(); s.WaitForInputIdle(); } private void button2_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { ShowWindow(s.MainWindowHandle, 1); SendKeys.SendWait("Hello"); } }
