• Lucene.Net memory consumption and slow search when too many clauses used

  I have a DB having text file attributes and text file primary key IDs and indexed around 1 million text files along with their IDs (primary keys in DB). Now, I am searching at two levels. First is straight forward DB search, where i get primary keys as result (roughly 2 or 3 million IDs) Then i make a Boolean query for instance as following +Text:"test*" +(pkID:1 pkID:4 pkID:100 pkID:115 pkID:1041 .... ) and search it in my Index file. The problem is that such query (having 2 million clauses) takes toooooo much time to give result and consumes reallly too much memory.... Is there any optimization solution for this problem ?

• Difference between C++ Keyboard keycode and JAVA KeyEvent keycode

  I noticed a difference between the keycodes that vkCode in C++ gives and the ones that Java's KeyEvent gives us. (Ofcourse the normal characters have the same code (0 = 48 just like the ASCII) but they differ in the other keys). Is there a way to 'translate' them from one to the other (What's the logic behind each one?) or am I supposed to use loads of switches and IFs for that. If it helps, my app is half in C++ and half in JAVA because of the Native Hooks that c++ gives us and it gets the keycodes of the keys that the user presses and then the java is going to use them.   Ok, so the problem I'm facing is this, I have a table with 3 columns : ID, Key and Value. ID | Key | Value ================ 1 | 1 | ab 1 | 2 | cd 1 | 3 | ef 2 | 1 | gh 2 | 2 | ij 2 | 3 | kl Now I want to select the value of Keys 1 & 3 for all IDs, the return should be like this ID | 1 | 2 ================ 1 | ab | ef 2 | gh | kl So per ID 1 row containing the Values for Keys 1 & 3. I tried using 'join' but since I need to use multiple where clauses I can't figure out how to get this to work ..

• How do I name an array key with a key inside the array

  I have some data, yes, data. This data came from a MySQL query and it will always contain 4 items, always. I want to cache that data in an array table for use later within a web page but I want to keep the keys from the query and separate out each grouping within a multidimensional array. However to save time iterating through the array each time I want to find a given group of data, I want to call the keys of the first array the same as the ID key which is always the first key within each four items. At the minute I'm using this code: function mysql_fetch_full_result_array($result) { $table_result=array(); $r=0; while($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result)){ $arr_row=array(); $c=0; while ($c < mysql_num_fields($result)) { $col = mysql_fetch_field($result, $c); $arr_row[$col -> name] = $row[$col -> name]; $c++; } $table_result[$r] = $arr_row; $r++; } return $table_result; } I'm currently testing this using 3 unique users, so I'm getting three rows back from the query and the data from this function ends up in the format: [0]=> . . [id] => 1 . . [name] => random name . . [tel] => random tel . . [post] => post code data [1]=> . . [id] => 34 . . [name] => random name . . [tel] => random tel . . [post] => post code data [2]=> . . [post] => post code data I don't mind if the main array keys are strings of numbers rather than numbers but I'm a bit stuck, I tried changing the $table_result[$r] = $arr_row; part to read $table_result[$result['id']] = $arr_row; but that just outputs an array of one person. I know I need another loop but I'm struggling to work out how to write it.

• Is there any benefit to encrypting twice using pgp?

  I am asking from a "more secure" perspective. I can imagine a scenario with two required private keys needed for decryption scenarios that may make this an attractive model. This is to settle an argument. My vote is that it is not adding any additional security other than having to compromise two different private keys. I think that if it was any more secure than encrypting it one million times would be the best way to secure informaiton and I don't buy it. So I guess my question becomes is a two locking mechanism equivalent to another one locking mechanism with a single key? Update: Forgive me if the answer is obvious but my bread goes dead as I read books on the topic.

• Design for tagging system in GAE-J

  I need a simple tagging system in GAE-J. As I see it, the entity that is being tagged should have a collection of keys referring to the tags with which it's associated. A tag entity should simply contain the tag string itself, and a collection of keys pointing to the entities associated with the tag. When an entity's list of tags is altered, the system will create a new tag if the tag is unknown, and then append the entity's key to that tag's key collection. If the tag already exists, then the entity's key is simply appended to the tag's key collection. This seems relatively straight-forward and uncontroversial to me, but I would like some feedback on this design, just to be sure.

To generate my two keys I used this piece of code : KeyPairGenerator keygen = KeyPairGenerator.getInstance("RSA"); keygen.initialize(512); keyPair = keygen.generateKeyPair(); Once public and private key are generated, I would like to show them to the user so he can distribute the public key and use the private key to decode. How can I get back those key ? Using keygen.getPrivateKey() and keygen.getPublicKey() give me all the information of the RSA algorithm, not only the keys I need. Thanks

• Sequence Generators in T-SQL

  We have an Oracle application that uses a standard pattern to populate surrogate keys. We have a series of extrinsic rows (that have specific values for the surrogate keys) and other rows that have intrinsic values. We use the following Oracle trigger snippet to determine what to do with the Surrogate key on insert: 'IF :NEW.SurrogateKey IS NULL THEN SELECT SurrogateKey_SEQ.NEXTVAL INTO :NEW.SurrogateKey FROM DUAL; END IF;' If the supplied surrogate key is null then get a value from the nominated sequence, else pass the supplied surrogate key through to the row. I can't seem to find an easy way to do this is T-SQL. There are all sorts of approaches, but none of which use the notion of a sequence generator like Oracle and other SQL-92 compliant DBs do. Anybody know of a really efficient way to do this in SQL Server T-SQL? BTW we're using SQL Server 2008 if that's any help. TIA, Paolo

  I'm developing an ETL process, and need a bridge table for a one-to-many relationship between a fact table and a dimension table (MySQL database). There is a limited number of combinations (some thousands), so I want to re-use group keys from the bridge table to to limit the size. Any group of dimensions belonging to a fact row will consist of a number of dimension keys (1 to around 15), assigned to a unique group key, as below: group_key | dimension_key ----------------------- 1 | 1 1 | 3 1 | 4 2 | 1 2 | 2 2 | 3 3 | 1 3 | 4 How do I go about retrieving the unique group key for the dimensions 1,3,4 (ie. 1).

  I was using NSDictionary and i observed that the objects in the dictionary are sorted automatically with respect to the keys, so my question is how to avoid this sorting , any flag available to set it off, so i get the object in same order i entered. i know u may be thinking what difference it makes in dictionary since we retrieve the value with respect to key, but i am first getting allKeys from which i receive Array of keys , this order is what i need it to be in the order of how i entered just as in NSArray. give your comments if the question is not clear.   I've got a migration that creates a couple of columns that act as foreign keys. In particular, I'm adding a creator_id and owner_id column to a model. These foreign keys indicate who created, and who currently owns, a particular kind of domain object. Users are managed by sfDoctrineGuardPlugin. What I'd like to do, for the purpose of the migration, is look up the (active) user with the lowest id, and default creator_id/owner_id to that. I don't see any particularly obvious/proper way to run arbitrary operations on the database during a migration. Does anyone know how?

• Get CruiseControl to talk to github with the correct public key.

  Hi All, Has anybody installed git and ControlControl and got CruiseControl to pull from GitHub on a window 2003 server. I keep getting public key errors (access denied) - Which is good i suppose as that confirms git is talking to github. However what is not good is that I dont not know where to install the rsa keys so they will be picked up by the running process (git in the context of cc.net). Any help would save me a lot of hair! I have tried installing the keys into; c:\Program Files\Git.ssh Whereby running git bash and cd ~ take me to: c:\Program Files\Git Current error from CC.net is Error Message: ThoughtWorks.CruiseControl.Core.CruiseControlException: Source control operation failed: Permission denied (publickey). fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly . • Creating standalone, console (shell) for domain-specific operations

  Say that I have a system service, and I want to offer a low-level maintenance access to it. For that purpose, I'd like to create a standalone, console application that somehow connects to server process and lets user type in commands, allow it to use auto-completion and auto-suggestion on single/double TAB press (just like linux bash shell, mysql cli, cmd.exe, and countless others), allow command line editing capabilities (history, cursor keys to move around text..), etc. Now, it's not that much of a problem to create something like that by rolling my own from scratch, handling user input, scanning pressed keys, and doing correct actions. But, why reinvent the wheel? Is there some library/framework that helps with this kind of problems, just like readline library that offers improved command-line editing capabilities under linux? Of course, this new "shell" would respond only to valid, domain-specific commands, and would suggest valid arguments, options, switches... Any ideas? Thanks!

  I have two tables Publishers and Campaigns, both have similar many-to-many relationships with Countries,Regions,Languages and Categories. more info Publisher2Categories has publisherID and categoryID which are foreign keys to publisherID in Publishers and categoryID in Categories which are identity columns. On other side i have Campaigns2Categories with campaignID and categoryID columns which are foreign keys to campaignID in Campaigns and categoryID in Categories which again are identities. How do i call this method and pass in the values?

• Problem with sendkeys in .NET

  I have a windows application, where I am using send keys to navigate from one window to another. My send key sequence is like activating another window with in my app, and sending key strokes to that window. But the key strokes I am sending is getting updated in the same window where I am activating the other window. But after few key strokes it is going to the other window. Seems like synchonization issue with send keys. Is there a way to specify the operation of the current send key is finished, before sending the next sendkey.

• Any foundation to administrate an Android open source application?

  Our open source application is quite popular, and we are many developers. The app uses my Android Market account, and I shared the keys with a developer. But if both of us disappear, the application's Market account will be lost, and all users trapped. Giving the keys to all developers is not a solution either, for security reasons. Is there a foundation (like in Mozilla Foundation or Apache Foundation) that could accept to hold our Android Market account and release new versions in accordance with their own guidelines and our community consensus? There are quite a lot of Open Source foundations, but I could not find any that tackles this particular aspect of Android applications.

• Bulk get of child entities on Google app engine?

  On Google App Engine in Python, I have a Visit entity that has a parent of Patient. A Patient may have multiple visits. I need to set the most_recent_visit (and some auxiliary visit data) somewhere for later querying, probably in another child entity that Brett Slatkin might call a "relationship index entity." I wish to do so in a bulk style as follows: 1. get 100 Patient keys 2. get all Visits that have any of the Patients from 1 as an ancestor 3. go through the Visits and get the latest for each Patient Is there any way to perform step 2 in a bulk get? I know there is a way to bulk get entities from a list of keys, and there is a way to match a single entity by its ancestor.

• How secure are GUIDs in terms of predictability?

  We're using .NET's Guid.NewGuid() to generate activation codes and API keys currently. I wonder if that poses a security problem since their algorithm is open. .NET Guid uses Win32 CoCreateGuid and I don't know it's internals (possibly MAC address + timestamp?). Can someone derive a second GUID out of the first one, or can he hit it with some smart guesses or is the randomness good enough so search space becomes too big? Generating random keys have the problem of collision, they need a double check before adding to a database. That's why we stuck with GUIDs but I'm unsure about their security for these purposes. • Restart nginx without sudo?

  So I want to be able to cap:deploy without having to type any passwords. I have setup all private keys so I can get to the remote servers fine, and am now using svn over ssh, so no passwords there. I have one last problem, I need to be able to restart nginx. Right now I have sudo /etc/init.d/nginx reload. That is a problem b/c it uses the capistrano password, the one I just removed b/c I am using keys. Any ideas on how to restart nginx w\out a password?
