  • Any web services with APIs for outsourcing webapp transactional email? [closed]

    My webapp needs to send customized messages to members and I'm wondering if there is an inexpensive and easy to use web service that would meet my needs. The types of mail I will be sending include: New account activation email (sent ASAP) Daily status report of user's account (sent anytime) Event reminders (sent at specific time) Specifically, I would like the following features: RESTful API to add an email message into the send queue A way to add a priority to each message (account signup activations should be sent immediately, while a daily status report could be sent anytime each day) They manage the sending of mail and the processing of bounces Possibly, they manage opt-out/opt-in features They offer features such as DKIM, VERP, etc. If their service determines an address is undeliverable (via VERP or other means, a user unsubscribes, etc), they make a RESTful call to my web service to notify me Nice if they had some reporting features, WebBugs, link tracking, etc. What I am NOT looking for is an email marketing service that caters only to sending out copies of the same mail to masses of recipients. I need to send out unique and custom messages to individuals. I had a chat with MailChimp about using their services for sending these types of messages and they said their service does not support customized emails per recipient. Edit: I just discovered a service called JangoSMTP that appears to meet many of my requirements. It provides an API for sending mail, supports DKIM, bounce management, and even feedback loops. Unfortunately, their idea of inexpensive doesn't mesh with mine, as it would cost $180/mo to send a single daily message to my 1000 users.

    Here is something that has bogged me down for quite sometime. I have created two fiddles so you can test live: Fiddle #1: http://www.jsfiddle.net/Jdk9R/2/ Fiddle #2: http://www.jsfiddle.net/d5PEu/ Looking at the Fiddle #1 you can make out that if the text is not formatted properly with spaces, the text overflows the border. How do i make this function similar to fiddle #2? Or is this unavoidable?

I'm current using the Adobe Flash ActiveX control to stream the videos from the various sites. IS there a way to record the stream? Whether it be with Flash ActiveX or another framework/control that you may know of.

  • Override default javascript functionality with jQuery

    I am trying to overwrite a JavaScript on change event in the below code with jQuery however I believe that the inline JavaScript is taking priority over the jQuery functionality declared. Essentially I am trying to have an AJAX version of my site which includes an additional JavaScript file. I need this functionality to still work without the additional AJAX version, but I am not sure as to whether I should include it in the main JavaScript file or leave it inline like it is right now. Any suggestions and information regarding them would be greatly appreciated!     Hello all. I've done some experimenting, but can't seem to successfully bind one event handler to multiple elements using jQuery. Here's what I've tried: $('selector1', 'selector2').bind('click', function() { $('someSelector').removeClass('coolClass'); }); I've tested all my selectors, and they are all valid. Is what I'm trying to do even possible? If so, can I do it with .live() as well? Thanks!

  • 2 Controls, 1 event

    I have 2 input textboxes that take a host or IP. When the user leaves an input box an event is fired that checks the input to see if it is actually a live computer. The results are then put into the appropriate label. My question is, should I be using separate events for each input box, since they update different labels? Or, can I use 1 event and check who the caller was, then update the appropriate label?

    I'm not really understanding the interaction/differences between settings and config files. If I add an entry to the settings file, it gets added to the app.config as well. Does this mean that changing the value in the app.config will update the settings? If not, how do I update settings in a live application? What's the general purpose of using a settings file instead of putting things directly in app.config?

  • Chrome not displaying a div

    Click here to see a simple example of what I want. It's really easy, but for some reason Google won't display the "subTotalCaption2" div. It's part of a foreach loop, if needed I can add other codes. There is nothing else in the rest of the css to mess with this, I have checked about 10 times.   • How to use ';' in urls, using Google Appengine

    Using the local dev server, I can use ';' in urls, but as soon as I try the live version hosted by Google, it looks like the ';' and everything afterward is stripped (at least according to request.path_qs). (I would prefer not to encode them if possible, it's much less user friendly if the url cannot be constructed by copy-pasting, especially since other characters works fine, e.g. ':').

  • Would the instance reference parameters passed into the static methods get garbage collected?

    I know that the static objects in .Net managed world are loaded in Loader Heap which is never going to be garbage collected. What happens to the instance reference parameters passed to a static methods. Are they get garbage collected once the static function executed completely Or they are going to live forever as those instance reference variables are once passed to static method?     For those of you who live and breath database design, have you ever found compelling reasons to have multiple FK's in a table that all point to the same parent table? We recently had to deal with a situation where we had a table that contained six columns which were all FK columns to the same parent table. We're debating whether this indicates a poor design on our part or whether this is more common than we think. Thanks very much.

  • Can I push my working directory without first committing it?

    I have my web server set up as a remote git repo, so I can type "git push staging" and my last commit goes live on the server. I used this tutorial to set this up. A lot of the time, I'm testing a new feature, and I want to test several iterations of it on the staging server, before it's ready to quality as a commit. Is there a way to push my working directory to the server without having to commit it first?

  • Default tablespace for indexes in postgres

    Just wondering if its possible to set a default tablespace in postgres to keep indexes. Would like the databases to live on the default tablespace for postgres, however, would like to get the indexes on a different set of disks just to keep the i/o traffic separated. It does not appear to me that it can be done without going in and doing an ALTER index TABLESPACE command, and then the index is moved and will stay there, but the databases and indexes are part of a django app, so non-django intervention can cause some problems.

  • using 2 different jquery releases on the same page

    I am using this jquery plugin for a carousel controller http://sorgalla.com/projects/jcarousel/, it is based on jquery release 1.2.1 I also need to have tabs on the page, but when including the current jquery release in the page, the carousel stops working. Is there a way to have them both live together on the same page, or is there a way to have tabs work under realease 1.2.1? I rather not rebuild the carousel on another plugin, since this one is already skinned and works just as needed.

    I've just rebased a feature branch onto another feature branch (in preparation for rebasing everything to the head of my master), and it involved quite a few tricky merge resolutions. Is the rebase automatically saved as a commit somewhere? Just where do those modifications live? I can't see anything in gitk, or git log --oneline. (Same question for when I merge back my branch after rebasing.)

I tried modifying the file directly on the server, and restarting the app, but the changes does not seem to take effect, or takes a long time to (caching?) I also tried to do "script/server production" locally, but that is very slow The other option is to code and deploy, but that is very inefficient. Anyone has any insights as to how they do this efficiently?
