  • How do you get the ID of a control in ASP.NET

    - by James
    I am attempting to loop through an array of numbers, match them to the checkbox they they are associated with, and checkmark that box. My checkbox is set up like: <input type="checkbox" runat="server" id="someID" name="somename" value="1234" /> My code when the page loads currently looks like: foreach (string interest in interests_Var){ foreach (var c in Page.Controls) { } } interests_Var is my array containing different numbers. We'll assume one of them is 1234. While looping through the page controls, I want to compare the value of the control to my number. If it equals my number, I want to then apply the attribute checked="checked". I'm assuming I have to find the ID of the control I am using, then use that ID to add a new attribute. Or is there a way I can add the attribute using the c variable? I'm not dead set on this setup, so if you know a better way, I'm all ears. Thanks for any help and suggestions.

  • WPF layout calls MeasureOverride repeatedly in increments of 2?

    - by Scott Whitlock
    I've run into a case where I have a custom Panel (inherits from Panel) and I'm using it as an ItemsPanel in a ListView. When I resize the container that it's in, if I resize it smaller, my panel's MeasureOverride function gets called once, but if I resize it larger (let's say from 100 to 300), it calls MeasureOverride and ArrangeOverride for every value between 100 and 300, in increments of 2 (so 102, 104, etc.). The weird thing is that the container resizes right away (its size gets to 300 immediately). It doesn't seem to matter what I return from MeasureOverride - it just does this. I wish I could make it happen in a really small application and post it here, but I haven't been able to reproduce it like that yet. I can reproduce it all day in my app though. Does anyone know what could cause this?

  • What is the most idiomatic way to emulating Perl's Test::More::done_testing?

    - by DVK
    I have to build unit tests for in environment with a very old version of Test::More (perl5.8 with $Test::More::VERSION being '0.80') which predates the addition of done_testing(). Upgrading to newer Test::More is out of the question for practical reasons. And I am trying to avoid using no_tests - it's generally a bad idea not catching when your unit test exits prematurely - say due to some logic not executing when you expected it to. What is the most idiomatic way of running a configurable amount of tests, assuming no no_tests or done_testing() is used? Details: My unit tests usually take the form of: use Test::More; my @test_set = ( [ "Test #1", $param1, $param2, ... ] ,[ "Test #1", $param1, $param2, ... ] # ,... ); foreach my $test (@test_set) { run_test($test); } sub run_test { # $expected_tests += count_tests($test); ok(test1($test)) || diag("Test1 failed"); # ... } The standard approach of use Test::More tests => 23; or BEGIN {plan tests => 23} does not work since both are obviously executed before @tests is known. My current approach involves making @tests global and defining it in the BEGIN {} block as follows: use Test::More; BEGIN { our @test_set = (); # Same set of tests as above my $expected_tests = 0; foreach my $test (@tests) { my $expected_tests += count_tests($test); } plan tests = $expected_tests; } our @test_set; # Must do!!! Since first "our" was in BEGIN's scope :( foreach my $test (@test_set) { run_test($test); } # Same sub run_test {} # Same I feel this can be done more idiomatically but not certain how to improve. Chief among the smells is the duplicate our @test_test declarations - in BEGIN{} and after it. Another approach is to emulate done_testing() by calling Test::More->builder->plan(tests=>$total_tests_calculated). I'm not sure if it's any better idiomatically-wise.

  • Elegant Method of Inserting Code Between Loops

    - by DeathMagus
    In web development, I often find I need to format and print various arrays of data, and separate these blocks of data in some manner. In other words, I need to be able to insert code between each loop, without said code being inserted before the first entry or after the last one. The most elegant way I've found to accomplish this is as follows: function echoWithBreaks($array){ for($i=0; $i<count($array); $i++){ //Echo an item if($i<count($array)-1){ //Echo "between code" } } } Unfortunately, there's no way that I can see to implement this solution with foreach instead of for. Does anyone know of a more elegant solution that will work with foreach?

  • How to iterate through an XDocument's Nodes

    - by Ed R
    I am trying to iterate through my xml document's nodes to get the value for <username>Ed</username> in each node. I am using Linq to sort the XDocument first, then attempting to loop through the nodes. I can't seem to find the correct foreach loop to achieve this. Any help is appreciated. var doc = XDocument.Load("files\\config.xml"); var newDoc = new XDocument(new XElement("Config", from p in doc.Element("Config").Elements("Profile") orderby int.Parse(p.Element("order").Value) select p)); foreach (XElement xe in newDoc.Nodes()) { MessageBox.Show(xe.Element("username").Value); }

  • PHP looping through an array to fetch a value for each key from database (third normal form)

    - by zomboble
    I am building a system, mostly for consolidating learning but will be used in practice. I will try and verbally explain the part of the E-R diagram I am focusing on: Each cadet can have many uniformID's Each Uniform ID is a new entry in table uniform, so cadets (table) may look like: id | name | ... | uniformID 1 | Example | ... | 1,2,3 uniform table: id | notes | cadet 1 | Need new blahh | 1 2 | Some stuff needed | 1 3 | Whatever you like | 1 On second thought, looks like I wont need that third column in the db. I am trying to iterate through each id in uniformID, code: <?php $cadet = $_GET['id']; // set from URL $query = mysql_query("SELECT `uniformID` FROM `cadets` WHERE id = '$cadet' LIMIT 1") or die(mysql_error()); // get uniform needed as string // store it while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($query)) { $uniformArray = $row['uniformID']; } echo $uniformArray . " "; $exploded = explode(",", $uniformArray); // convert into an array // for each key in the array perform a new query foreach ($exploded as $key => $value) { $query(count($exploded)); $query[$key] = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM `uniform` WHERE `id` = '$value'"); } ? As I say, this is mainly for consolidation purposes but I have come up with a error, sql is saying: Fatal error: Function name must be a string in C:\wamp\www\intranet\uniform.php on line 82 line 82 is: $query[$key] = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM `uniform` WHERE `id` = '$value'"); I wasn't sure it would work so I tried it and now i'm stuck! EDIT: Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this! This is now the working code: foreach ($exploded as $key => $value) { //$query(count($exploded)); $query = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM `uniform` WHERE `id` = '$value'"); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($query)) { echo "<tr> <td>" . $row['id'] . "</td> <td>" . $row['note'] . "</td> </tr>"; } } Added the while and did the iteration by nesting it in the foreach

    - by user1360694
    function showPopup(){ var popup = $('<div>').dialog(); popup.html('<div id="mydiv"></div>'); for (var i=1; i<5; i++) setContent($('#mydiv')); popup.dialog("option", "buttons", { "Add": function(){ //code to add $(this).dialog('close'); $(this).dialog('destroy'); }, "Cancel": function(){ //code to add $(this).dialog('close'); $(this).dialog('destroy'); }, }); } function setContent(container){ container.append('<p>sadfsdfsdfsdfdsf</p>'); } On clicking a "ADD BUTTON" the showPopup function is called which displays a dialog box setting its content from the setContent method. On the first click the content is displayed properly while on further clicks(after the previous dialog is closed) no content is displayed. Can anyone help with this.

  • How do I transfer configuration data into injected objects?

    - by louis
    I used to use Spring.Net and want to switch to Ninject 1.5 (I have to use .NET2, since some unlucky guy like me still needs to consider users working with win 2k). I used to have everything done in xml and only invoke the container during startup. In this way, only very limited codes are depending on container. I have scenarios like this and I wonder how to do the same in Ninject. I have external config file, which are the items the end users can change basing on their environment/preferences. And some of my objects depends on those values to initialize. Mostly they are primary values, but some times can be list/dictionaries/etc.

  • Remove items from one list in another

    - by coffeeaddict
    I'm trying to figure out how to traverse a generic list of items that I want to remove from another list of items. So lest say I have this as a hypothetical example List<car> list1 = GetTheList(); List<car> list2 = GetSomeOtherList(); I want to traverse list1 with a foreach and remove each item in List1 in List2. I'm not quite sure how to go about that as foreach is not index based.

  • PHP 5.1.6 ArrayAccess error when iterating over object

    - by kenny99
    Hi, I'm having to develop a site on PHP 5.1.6 and I've just come across a bug in my site which isn't happening on 5.2+. When using foreach() to iterate over an object, I get the following error: "Fatal error: Objects used as arrays in post/pre increment/decrement must return values by reference..." Does anyone know how to get around this issue? if (strpos($post['feeding_type'], 'comm')) { foreach ($post['commercial_brands'] as $brand) { $comm_food = new Commercial_food_Model; $comm_food->brand = $brand; $comm_food->feeding_type_id = $f_type->id; $comm_food->save(); } }

  • On Linux do people chroot a Java Web Application or use IPTables and run as non-root?

    - by Adam Gent
    When you run a Java Servlet Container that you would like to serve both static and dynamic content on port 80 you have the classic question of whether to run the server as: As root in hopefully a chroot jail if you can (haven't gotten this working yet) As a non root user and then use IPTables to forward port 80 to some other port (1024) that the container is running on Both: As a non root user, IPTables, and chroot jail. The problem with opt. 1 is the complexity of chrooting and still the security problems of running root.The problem with opt. 2 is that each Linux distro has a different way of persisting IPTables. Option 3 of course is probably idea but very hard to setup. Finally every distro has the annoying differences in daemon scripts. What do people find as the best distro agnostic solution and are there resources to show how to do this?

  • Which method of adding items to the ASP.NET Dictionary class is more efficient?

    - by ahmd0
    I'm converting a comma separated list of strings into a dictionary using C# in ASP.NET (by omitting any duplicates): string str = "1,2, 4, 2, 4, item 3,item2, item 3"; //Just a random string for the sake of this example and I was wondering which method is more efficient? 1 - Using try/catch block: Dictionary<string, string> dic = new Dictionary<string, string>(); string[] strs = str.Split(','); foreach (string s in strs) { if (!string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(s)) { try { string s2 = s.Trim(); dic.Add(s2, s2); } catch { } } } 2 - Or using ContainsKey() method: string[] strs = str.Split(','); foreach (string s in strs) { if (!string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(s)) { string s2 = s.Trim(); if (!dic.ContainsKey(s2)) dic.Add(s2, s2); } }

  • How to float span properly

    - by brianr1
    I am developing this site http://indigonightlife.com/ The second section down is This Weeks Events. To the right of that heading is an image of the 5 little blue lines. The problem Im having is I cant get it to float to the right side of the container. As it is now, its in the middle of the container. Ive tried all kinds of combos of floats, clearfixes, and such but I cant get it to stay to the right. The section below titled Resident and Guest DJs has the same image but its floated fine. Not sure what the difference is. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • JQuery Buttonset - Add button

    - by leaf dev
    I am looking for a way to add a button to a JQuery buttonset at runtime with javascript. if(response.success) { var menuItem = document.createElement('a'); $(menuItem).attr('href', response.href); $(menuItem).attr('category-id', response.id); $(menuItem).text(title); $("#menu-buttonset").append(menuItem); } I am adding the hyperlink to the div container of the buttonset using javascript, and then re-calling buttonset() on the container. $("#menu-buttonset").buttonset(); This however does not seem to rebuild the buttonset as I expected. I am not seeing any function in the JQuery API for this either. Can anyone provide some insight?

  • what is the underlying data structure of a set c++?

    - by zebraman
    I would like to know how a set is implemented in C++. If I were to implement my own set container without using the STL provided container, what would be the best way to go about this task? I understand STL sets are based on the abstract data structure of a binary search tree. So what is the underlying data structure? An array? Also, how does insert() work for a set? How does the set check whether an element already exists in it? I read on wikipedia that another way to implement a set is with a hash table. How would this work?

  • Jquery ajax using asp.net does not work on IE9 during the 2nd call of the function?

    - by randelramirez1
    I have gridview that is loaded from another aspx page after an ajax call, the problem is it works on chrome/firefox/safari but using ie9 the ajax call would work fine during the first call but when i try to call the function again it throws an 304 status on the network tab of ie9 dev tool and the gridview is not refreshed. Here is the jquery code: <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="LoadCoursesGridViewHere.aspx.cs" Inherits="CoursesGridView" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head runat="server"> <title></title> <script src="Scripts/jquery-1.8.2.js" type="text/javascript"></script> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div id="Gridview-container"> <asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server"> </asp:GridView> </div> <asp:TextBox ID="TextBox1" runat="server" ViewStateMode="Disabled"></asp:TextBox> <%-- <asp:Button Text="text" ID="btn" OnClientClick=" __doPostBack('UpdatePanel1', '')" runat="server" />--%> <input type="button" id="btn" value="insert"/> </form> <script type="text/javascript"> $("#btn").click(function () { var a = $("#TextBox1").val(); $.ajax({ url: 'WebService.asmx/insert', data: "{ 'name': '" + a + "' }", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", type: "POST", success: function () { // alert('insert was performed.'); $("#Gridview-container").empty(); $("#Gridview-container").load("GridViewCourses.aspx #GridView1"); } }); }); </script> </body> </html> What happen is that after click the button it will insert the textbox value in the database through the webservice 'insert' and then reload the gridview that is placed inside a different aspx page. The problem is that when I ran it on IE9 during the 1st insert everything works properly but the succeeding inserts does reload the gridview and I noticed that it says '304' on the network tab of ie9 dev tool.

  • Castle Windsor Weak Typed Factory

    - by JeffN825
    In a very very limited number of scenarios, I need to go from an unknown Type (at compile time) to an instance of the object registered for that type. For the most part, I use typed factories and I know the type I want to resolve at compile time...so I inject a Func<IMyType> into a constructor ...but in these limited number of scenarios, in order to avoid a direct call to the container (and thus having to reference Windsor from the library, which is an anti-pattern I'd like to avoid), I need to inject a Func<Type,object>...which I want to internally container.Resolve(type) for the Type parameter of the Func. Does anyone have some suggestions on the easiest/most straightforward way of setting this up? I tried the following, but with this setup, I end up bypassing the regular TypedFactoryFacility altogether which is definitely not what I want: Kernel.Register(Component.For(typeof (Func<Type, object>)).LifeStyle.Singleton.UsingFactoryMethod( (kernel, componentModel, creationContext) => kernel.Resolve(/* not sure what to put here... */))); Thanks in advance for any assistance.

  • jQuery: add border on hovered element but NOT parents

    - by John Isaacks
    I have this code: var originalBorder = container.css("border"); container.hover(function(event) { event.stopPropagation(); $(this).css("border", "1px solid "+options.color); },function(){ $(this).css("border", originalBorder); }); Which I am using to add a border to the currently hovered element. However for example if a span is inside a div they are both getting borders. I only want to target the span. I thought that adding event.stopPropagation() would do the trick (this is what I would do in Flex, which is what I am more used to) but I guess this is a live event which I dont even understand what that means. So basically how can target the youngest element without triggering the parents? Thanks!!

  • C#: Union of two ICollections? (equivlaent of Java's addAll())

    - by Rosarch
    I have two ICollections of which I would like to take the union. Currently, I'm doing this with a foreach loop, but that feels verbose and hideous. What is the C# equivalent of Java's addAll()? Example of this problem: ICollection<IDictionary<string, string>> result = new HashSet<IDictionary<string, string>>(); // ... ICollection<IDictionary<string, string>> fromSubTree = GetAllTypeWithin(elementName, element); foreach (IDictionary<string, string> dict in fromSubTree) // hacky { result.Add(dict); } // result is now the union of the two sets

  • LINQ Queries And Context

    - by Soo
    Hello SO, I have a slight issue with some code I'm writing if(parameter == 1) { var linq = from a in db.table select a; } else { var linq = from a in db.table where a.id = 1 select a; } foreach(var b in linq) { ... } So basically what's going on is that the variable "linq" is different depending on the value of "parameter". When I try to loop through "linq" with my foreach loop, I get an error about how linq doesn't exist in the current context. What is the best way to work around this type of issue?
