• Change the contents of a UITableView via a swipe?

  Im currently using a UITableView like any other, and I am researching into the ability to perform a swipe gesture on the screen, which will then shift the contents of the visible table over to display new content for example: swiping right-to-left on the screen would change (via animation) the contents within each of the cells on screen to show new data. What I can do is detect a swipe on the cells, or perhaps on the UITableViewController, but what I dont know how to do two fold: 1) Change data in all cells (could you have a set of hidden views within a custom table cell that animate in and out of each cell per swipe?) 2) How can you do this to all cells?   I'm new to cookies, and im trying to set a cookie where to store the referrer (the org ref). But when i use this and lets say i go to another page in my site and then go back to the homepage its sets a new cookie with the exact same name and with the ref of the previous page.   I basically am making webrequests and recieving a JSON response. Depending on the request, I am parsing JSON request into objects I have created. The parsing is pretty much the same no matter what the object Im parsing into looks like. So I have a bunch of methods doing the same work only with different objects, I was wondering how I could accomplish this with generics? • PNRP + dont see Global_ on Windows 7

  Hi, Im trying to test out PNRP in a simple app that either registers or resolves. On my Vista machine when i run 'netsh p2p pnrp cloud show list' .... I see Global_ When i try this from my Windows 7 machine i do not see Global_ i only have LinkLocal_... I can see i have an IPV6 address on the Windows 7 machine (via ipconfig) I may not just understand it enough yet - very poorly documented and most of the documentation is from Orca, 2007,etc. Makes me wonder if PNRP will just end up being another uddi.microsoft.com (i know they are nothing alike, but my point is...)

• fprintf() within a subprogram

  Im stuck when trying to write to my file within my subprogram. void new_page(float *a, float *b, float *c, int *d){ fprintf(results,"\nPage Totals: %f\t%f\t%f\t%d", *a,*b,*c,*d); } I get a warning saying "Warning: incompatible implicit declaration of built-in function 'fprinf' [enabled by default]" "error: 'results' undeclared (first use in this function)" in main fprintf works fine, its just when it comes to the subprogram/function it wont work. from my understanding it thinks that results is undeclared, so do i have to pass the name or location of the file to make it work?

• Rails - Preventing users from contributing to website when there score is too low - callback / obser

  A User can add a Sentence directly on my website, via twitter or email. To add a sentence they must have a minimum score. If they don't have the minimum score they cant post the sentence and a warning message is either flashed on the website, sent back to them via twitter or email. So I'm wondering how best to code this check. Im thinking a sentence observer. So far my thoughts are in before_create score_sufficient() - score ok = save - score too low = do not save In the case of too low i need to return some flag so that the calling code can then fire off teh relevant warning. What type of flag should I return? False is too ambiguous as that could refer to validation. I could raise an exception but that doesn't sound right or I could return a symbol? Is this even the right approach? What's the best way to code this?

  Hi, what is regarded as the best approach to organising css. At the moment I am using a single link in the head of my xhtml documents as follows: <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style/imports.css" /> In this file im importing several different css files i.e. reset.css, structure.css, skin.css I know there is an overhead in doing this as each requires an extra trip to the server but it makes things much more logical and organised in my opinion. Does anyone have an opinion on how best to organise their css. - Would it be better to put all these seperate css funcions into one single file? Also, is it best practice to minify css.

• PHP / javascript live chat using too much bandwidth

  So I am learning about javascript, so I am making a live chat system with PHP and javascript. I have it so the javascript refreshes the log (each message gets logged in a file on the server), and it refreshes every second. Im using firebug to monitor the resource usage, and I see under the net tab each times its updated, and the bytes add up really fast. I know I can change it to update less, but is there a way that when a user on the other end I'm talking to, when the send a message, it gets sent to the server, then an alert gets sent to me saying that the chatlog needs to update somehow. That way it only updates when the log is updated. let me know, thanks

• Is there a way to attach Ruby Net::HTTP request to a specific IP address / network interface?

  Hello, Im looking a way to use different IP addresses for each GET request with standard Net::HTTP library. Server has 5 ip addresses and assuming that some API`s are blocking access when request limit per IP is reached. So, only way to do it - use another server. I cant find anything about it in ruby docs. For example, curl allows you to attach it to specific ip address (in PHP): $req = curl_init($url) curl_setopt($req, CURLOPT_INTERFACE, 'ip.address.goes.here'; $result = curl_exec($req); Is there any way to do it with Net::HTTP library? As alternative - CURB (ruby curl binding). But it will be the latest thing i`ll try. Suggestions / Ideas?

• How do you make an installer for your python program

  Im new to python, but I was thinking about making a program with python to give to my friends. They don't know much about computers so if I asked them to install python by them selves they couldn't do it, but what if I could make an installer that downloads some version of python that only has what is needed for my file to run and make an exe file that would run the .py file in its own python interpreter . I also did a Google search and saw the freezing applications I could use to make the code into exe files to distribute (cx_freeze I use python 3.2), but not all of my friends have Windows computers and I rather Have my program so in each new version it auto updates by making a patch to .py file and not completely re-installing it .

  Hi, Im loading an entity 'Member' from its id in route data. [ListItemsForMembershipType(true)] public ActionResult Edit(Member someMember) {...} The attribute on the action loads the membership type list items for a dropdown box and sticks it in viewdata. This is fine for add forms, and search forms (it gets all active items) but I need the attribute to execute BASED ON THE VALUE someMember.MembershipTypeId, because its current value must always be present when loading the item (i.e. all active items, plus the one from the loaded record). So the question is, what is the standard pattern for this? How can my attribute accept the value or should I be loading the viewdata for the drop down in a controller supertype or during model binding or something else? It is in an attribute now because the code to set the viewdata would otherwise be duplicated in each usage in each action.

  Writing an iphone app, and I'm getting my data from a REST API that returns JSON. My problem is, some of the data has special characters embedded and Im getting errors.   hi folks, i got a crazy error within that for-loop matr=realloc(matr, newmax*sizeof(matr*)); for (i=0; i<newmax; i++){ matr[i]=realloc(matr[i], newmax*sizeof(int)); } matr is a multi-dimension array: int **matr. i need to resize column and row. first line resizes column and the for-loop resizes every row. it worked fine in c. now im working on a library for lua and it crashs here. compilin' works fine as well. but calling from lua crashs with lua: malloc.c:3552: mremap_chunk: Assertion `((size + offset) & (mp_.pagesize-1)) == 0' failed. i have no damn idea since it's working fine using it in c.

  hi everyone, i have a parent class called Course, and two child class PostgradCourse and UndergradCourse. i have a hashmap HashMap courses; i store all the postgradCourse and undergradCourse objects in the hashmap. i want to retrieve an undergradCourse object from the hashmap using the key. Course course = courses.get(courseCode); then i want to call a method in the UndergradCourse class, setUnits() method course.setUnits(); but the compiler say cannot find symbol- method setUnit() im pretty sure the problem is the compiler is looking for a method setUnit() in the Course class instead of UndergradCourse class i did this but its not working UndergradCourse course = courses.get(courseCode); results in incompatible type so how can i retrieve undergradCourse object from the hashmap as an undergradCourse object instead of course object? so then i can call a method inside the child class thanks in advance

• HTML, PHP No data in drop down box

  Hey, I am trying to figure out why a website's drop down box will not show any options. The data file for this drop down box comes from a microsoft access .mde file. The file is present and after the last update was working fine. Some changes happened to the site, i.e. text got added along with some photos. Im not saying this was when the drop down box went bad, but when it was discovered these were the only changes made. The data file seems fine as it is worked with everyday. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where to begin looking for the bug? • asp.net mvc route clashing with physical path in IIS7

  I'm messing about with controller organisation and I've hit a problem. If I have the following physical structure /Home/HomeController.cs /Home/Index.aspx /Home/About.aspx and I request the URI: /Home/Index I get a 403 Directory Listing Denied :( (im using a custom IControllerFactory and IViewEngine to look in this non-default path) Why is this happening? (I know the 403 is because its hitting the /Home folder, but why is it hitting the folder?) Why doesn't the UrlRoutingModule rewrite the route and let the controller pick up the request? Application_BeginRequest fires, but then it seems to pass control back to IIS to try and serve from the filesystem. Is it the UrlRoutingModule that defaults to a physical path if it exists before rewriting? Is there a way to make this work? N.B. Please don't suggest relocating my controllers etc. I know this is an obvious option, but that isn't the question ;) Using IIS7 In Integrated Mode Thanks

• Does iOS 4 Have "Real" Multitasking?

  Ever since the first beta came out I've been trying to find out if "real" multitasking is possible. I.E., can you put a program in the background and have it hang on to a network connection indefinitely? I'm thinking about IM or IRC apps, for example. I've compiled an app myself on OS 4, and without changing a thing it appeared to stay running in the background, but for all I know it was just suspended to memory. The docs say the best you can do is request up to 10 minutes, but in the developer presentation they showed off Skype sitting in the background and then notifying the user that a call was coming in. Does anyone know for sure how this is all going to work?

• ipod touch crashing after uploading app to device

  hi, I installed a new device (the second out of the 100), on xcode, an iPod touch but when I upload the app, the iPod crashes, apple logo shows, and gets frozen for a while, and then resusitates, in the xcode, I get the message on console: The Debugger has exited due to signal 15 (SIGTERM). I tried a simple app I made, and it loaded it, (some bouncing ball) after starting again, but tried the same with another app that plays some sounds and it shows normally, but doesnt play the sounds, questions: how to fix this issue? (in MyApp-info.plist, in bundle identifier, I have: com.yourcompany.${PRODUCT_NAME:rfc1034identifier} havent changed this, is this a problem?? 1.b. I used that conf to upload to an iPad with no problem?? Do the apps play normally sounds *.m4a, in the simulator it works!, not in the iPod, is this due to the crash or not? Thank you,, edit Im using AudioToolbox framework, the question after 1.b is 2 in my editor, but appears as 1 in the post??
