  • How to insert a value based on lookup from another table [SQL]?

    - by Shaitan00
    I need to find a way to do an INSERT INTO table A but one of the values is something that comes from a lookup on table B, allow me to illustrate. I have the 2 following tables: Table A: A1: String A2: Integer value coming from table B A3: More Data Table B: B1: String B2: Integer Value Example row of A: {"Value", 101, MoreData} Example row of B: {"English", 101} Now, I know I need to INSERT the following into A {"Value2", "English", MoreData} but obviously that won't work because it is expecting an Integer in the second column not the word "English", so I need to do a lookup in Table B first. Something like this: INSERT INTO tableA (A1, A2, A3) VALUES ("Value2", SELECT B2 FROM tableB where B1="English", MoreData); Obviously this doesn't work as-is ... Any suggestions?

  • Why does the assignment operator return a value and not a reference?

    - by Nick Lowman
    I saw the example below explained on this site and thought both answers would be 20 and not the 10 that is returned. He wrote that both the comma and assignment returns a value, not a reference. I don't quite understand what that means. I understand it in relation to passing variables into functions or methods i.e primitive types are passed in by value and objects by reference but I'm not sure how it applies in this case. I also understand about context and the value of 'this' (after help from stackoverflow) but I thought in both cases I would still be invoking it as a method, foo.bar() which would mean foo is the context but it seems both result in a function call bar(). Why is that and what does it all mean? var x = 10; var foo = { x: 20, bar: function () {return this.x;} }; (foo.bar = foo.bar)();//returns 10 (foo.bar, foo.bar)();//returns 10

  • How to insert an item into a key/value pair object?

    - by Clay
    Ok...here's a softball question... I just need to be able to insert a key/value pair into an object at a specific position. I'm currently working with a Hashtable which, of course, doesn't allow for this functionality. What would be the best approach? UPDATE: Also, I do need the ability to lookup by the key. For example...oversimplified and pseudocoded but should convey the point // existing Hashtable myHashtable.Add("somekey1", "somevalue1"); myHashtable.Add("somekey2", "somevalue2"); myHashtable.Add("somekey3", "somevalue3"); // Some other object that will allow me to insert a new key/value pair. // Assume that this object has been populated with the above key/value pairs. oSomeObject.Insert("newfirstkey","newfirstvalue"); Thanks in advance.

  • Can you get the previous value of a variable in Java?

    - by The Special One
    Say way have a variable (let's say String Str) and the value of Str starts of as " " then as some code is running it is set to "test" then somewhere else in the code it is changed again to say "tester". Now in the program I want to find out what the previous value of Str was. Is this possible in Java? So I am saying that the variable gets changed twice, and you want to find out what Str was before it got changed for the second time. So in the example above the latest value of Str would be "tester" but I wanted to find out what Str was before this (assuming you had no idea what it was before it was changed to tester) in this case I would want to be able to find out that Str was "test". Is it at all possible to do this in Java?

  • How to get variable value from inside a stored procedure in DB2?

    - by Sylvia
    This seems like it should be very easy...anyway, it is in MS SQL Server In a DB2 stored procedure, how can I just get the value of a variable? Say I have the following stored procedure: CREATE PROCEDURE etl.TestABC( ) LANGUAGE SQL BEGIN declare Stmt varchar(2048); set Stmt = 'this is a test'; -- print Stmt; -- select Stmt; return 0; END @ I'd like to print out the value of Stmt after I set it. Print doesn't work, select doesn't work. Somebody said I have to insert it to a table first, and then get it after I run the stored procedure. Is this really necessary? Thanks, Sylvia EDIT: I should have made clearer that I want to see the value of Stmt each time after I set it, and I may need to set it multiple times within the same stored procedure.

  • Get a property value with only the object and the name of the property (but not the type)

    - by Vaccano
    Suppose I have a method that passes in the name of a property (as a string) and the object that the property is on (as object). How could I get the value of the property? Here is some code to make it a bit more concrete: protected override void Paint(Graphics g, Rectangle bounds, CurrencyManager source, int rowNum, Brush backBrush, Brush foreBrush, bool alignToRight) { // The next line is made up code var currentValue = source.Current.CoolMethodToTakePropertyNameAndReturnValue(MappingName); // Paint out the retrieved value g.DrawString(currentValue.ToString() , _gridFont, new SolidBrush(Color.Black), bounds.Left + 1, bounds.Top); } MappingName is the name of the property I want to get the value for. What I need is CoolMethodToTakePropertyNameAndReturnValue. Any ideas? I am running on the Compact Framework. I would also prefer to avoid reflection (but if that is my only recourse then so be it). Thanks for any help.

  • Pure Server-Side Filtering with RadGridView and WCF RIA Services

    Those of you who are familiar with WCF RIA Services know that the DomainDataSource control provides a FilterDescriptors collection that enables you to filter data returned by the query on the server. We have been using this DomainDataSource feature in our RIA Services with DomainDataSource online example for almost an year now. In the example, we are listening for RadGridViews Filtering event in order to intercept any filtering that is performed on the client and translate it to something that the DomainDataSource will understand, in this case a System.Windows.Data.FilterDescriptor being added or removed from its FilterDescriptors collection. Think of RadGridView.FilterDescriptors as client-side filtering and of DomainDataSource.FilterDescriptors as server-side filtering. We no longer need the client-side one. With the introduction of the Custom Filtering Controls feature many new possibilities have opened. With these custom controls we no longer need to do any filtering on the client. I have prepared a very small project that demonstrates how to filter solely on the server by using a custom filtering control. As I have already mentioned filtering on the server is done through the FilterDescriptors collection of the DomainDataSource control. This collection holds instances of type System.Windows.Data.FilterDescriptor. The FilterDescriptor has three important properties: PropertyPath: Specifies the name of the property that we want to filter on (the left operand). Operator: Specifies the type of comparison to use when filtering. An instance of FilterOperator Enumeration. Value: The value to compare with (the right operand). An instance of the Parameter Class. By adding filters, you can specify that only entities which meet the condition in the filter are loaded from the domain context. In case you are not familiar with these concepts you might find Brad Abrams blog interesting. Now, our requirements are to create some kind of UI that will manipulate the DomainDataSource.FilterDescriptors collection. When it comes to collections, my first choice of course would be RadGridView. If you are not familiar with the Custom Filtering Controls concept I would strongly recommend getting acquainted with my step-by-step tutorial Custom Filtering with RadGridView for Silverlight and checking the online example out. I have created a simple custom filtering control that contains a RadGridView and several buttons. This control is aware of the DomainDataSource instance, since it is operating on its FilterDescriptors collection. In fact, the RadGridView that is inside it is bound to this collection. In order to display filters that are relevant for the current column only, I have applied a filter to the grid. This filter is a Telerik.Windows.Data.FilterDescriptor and is used to filter the little grid inside the custom control. It should not be confused with the DomainDataSource.FilterDescriptors collection that RadGridView is actually bound to. These are the RIA filters. Additionally, I have added several other features. For example, if you have specified a DataFormatString on your original column, the Value column inside the custom control will pick it up and format the filter values accordingly. Also, I have transferred the data type of the column that you are filtering to the Value column of the custom control. This will help the little RadGridView determine what kind of editor to show up when you begin edit, for example a date picker for DateTime columns. Finally, I have added four buttons two of them can be used to add or remove filters and the other two will communicate the changes you have made to the server. Here is the full source code of the DomainDataSourceFilteringControl. The XAML: <UserControl x:Class="PureServerSideFiltering.DomainDataSourceFilteringControl"    xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation"    xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"     xmlns:telerikGrid="clr-namespace:Telerik.Windows.Controls;assembly=Telerik.Windows.Controls.GridView"     xmlns:telerik="clr-namespace:Telerik.Windows.Controls;assembly=Telerik.Windows.Controls"     Width="300">     <Border x:Name="LayoutRoot"             BorderThickness="1"             BorderBrush="#FF8A929E"             Padding="5"             Background="#FFDFE2E5">           <Grid>             <Grid.RowDefinitions>                 <RowDefinition Height="Auto"/>                 <RowDefinition Height="150"/>                 <RowDefinition Height="Auto"/>             </Grid.RowDefinitions>               <StackPanel Grid.Row="0"                         Margin="2"                         Orientation="Horizontal"                         HorizontalAlignment="Center">                 <telerik:RadButton Name="addFilterButton"                                   Click="OnAddFilterButtonClick"                                   Content="Add Filter"                                   Margin="2"                                   Width="96"/>                 <telerik:RadButton Name="removeFilterButton"                                   Click="OnRemoveFilterButtonClick"                                   Content="Remove Filter"                                   Margin="2"                                   Width="96"/>             </StackPanel>               <telerikGrid:RadGridView Name="filtersGrid"                                     Grid.Row="1"                                     Margin="2"                                     ItemsSource="{Binding FilterDescriptors}"                                     AddingNewDataItem="OnFilterGridAddingNewDataItem"                                     ColumnWidth="*"                                     ShowGroupPanel="False"                                     AutoGenerateColumns="False"                                     CanUserResizeColumns="False"                                     CanUserReorderColumns="False"                                     CanUserFreezeColumns="False"                                     RowIndicatorVisibility="Collapsed"                                     IsFilteringAllowed="False"                                     CanUserSortColumns="False">                 <telerikGrid:RadGridView.Columns>                     <telerikGrid:GridViewComboBoxColumn DataMemberBinding="{Binding Operator}"                                                         UniqueName="Operator"/>                     <telerikGrid:GridViewDataColumn Header="Value"                                                     DataMemberBinding="{Binding Value.Value}"                                                     UniqueName="Value"/>                 </telerikGrid:RadGridView.Columns>             </telerikGrid:RadGridView>               <StackPanel Grid.Row="2"                         Margin="2"                         Orientation="Horizontal"                         HorizontalAlignment="Center">                 <telerik:RadButton Name="filterButton"                                   Click="OnApplyFiltersButtonClick"                                   Content="Apply Filters"                                   Margin="2"                                   Width="96"/>                 <telerik:RadButton Name="clearButton"                                   Click="OnClearFiltersButtonClick"                                   Content="Clear Filters"                                   Margin="2"                                   Width="96"/>             </StackPanel>           </Grid>       </Border> </UserControl>   And the code-behind: using System; If the DomainDataSource has some pre-existing filters (like I have created in the code above), our control will read them and will populate its UI accordingly. Even the filtering funnel will light-up! Remember, the funnel is controlled by the IsActive property of our control. While this is just a basic implementation, the source code is absolutely yours and you can take it from here and extend it to match your specific business requirements. Below the main grid there is another debug grid. With its help you can monitor what filter descriptors are added and removed to the domain data source. Download Source Code. (You will have to have the AdventureWorks sample database installed on the default SQLExpress instance in order to run it.) The curRow and curCol are used to determine which row and column we are in the table. gbl_maxCols is set to the number of columns in an html table <xsl:template name="GenerateColumns"> <xsl:when test="$curCol &lt;= $gbl_maxCols"> <td> <xsl:attribute="colspan"> <xsl:value-of select="/page/column/@skipColumns"/> </xsl:attribute> </xsl:when> </xsl:template> The result of this function is a set of td elements, however some of these elements (those with a skipColumn attribute greater than 1 span more than 1 column, I need to skip this many columns with the next call to generateColumns. this works just like I would expect in the case where I simply increment the curCol param but I have a case where I need to use the value from the xml attribute skipColumns in the math to calculate the value for curCol. In the above case I iterate through all the columns and this works for the majority of my use cases. However in same cases I need to skip over some of the columns and need to pass in that value from the xml attribute to calculate how many columns I need to skip. My naive first attempt was something like this <xsl:call-template name="GenerateColumns"> <xsl:with-param name="curRow" select="$curRow"/> <xsl:with-param name="curCol" select="$curCol + /page/column/@skipColumns"/> </xsl:call-template> But unforutnately this does not seem to work. Is there any way to use an attribute from an xml page in the calculation for the value of a param in xsl. My xml page is something like this (edited heavily since the xml file is rather large) <page> <column name="blank" skipColumns="1"/> <column name="blank" skipColumns="1"/> <column name="test" skipColumns="3"/> <column name="blank" skipColumns="1"/> <column name="test2" skipColumns="6"/> </page> after all of this I would like to have a set of td elements like the following <td></td><td></td><td colSpan="3"></td><td></td><td colSpan="6"></td> if I just iterate through the columns I instead end up with something like this which gives me more td elements than I should have <td></td><td></td><td colSpan="3"></td><td></td><td colSpan="6"></td><td></td><td></td><td></td><td></td><td></td><td></td><td></td> Edited to provide more information

  • why the global variable value is not being set?

    - by masato-san
    I can't figure out why my global variable workRegionCode is not set properly. In function getWorkRegion(), after getting ajax callback, it attempt to set workRegionCode global variable. (inside of function setFirstIndexWorkRegionCode() ). The alert in setFirstIndexWorkRegionCode() outputs expected value like 401 or 123 etc. But then when getMachines() is called, the global variable workRegionCode is undefiend :( This js starts from window.onload() (please ignore those Japanese JSON key value and few Japanese variables. They are harmless) Code: var workRegionDropdown = document.getElementById("workRegionDropdown");; var machineDropdown = document.getElementById("machineDropdown"); //this is the global variable with problem..... var workRegionCode; //INIT window.onload = function() { getWorkRegions(); // alert("before: " + window.workRegionCode); getMachines(); // alert("after: " + window.workRegionCode); } function addWorkRegionToDropdown(jsonObject, dropdown) { for(var i=0, j=jsonObject.length; i<j; i++) { var option = document.createElement("option"); option.text = jsonObject[i].?????? + ":" + jsonObject[i].??????; option.value = jsonObject[i].??????; dropdown.options.add(option); } } function addMachineToDropdown(jsonObject, dropdown) { for(var i=0, j=jsonObject.length; i<j; i++) { var option = document.createElement("option"); option.text = jsonObject[i].???; option.value = jsonObject[i].???; dropdown.options.add(option); } } function getMachines() { //!!!!!!!!!!! workRegionCode is undefined.. why?!?!?! alert("inside of getMachines() ==> " + window.workRegionCode); var ajaxRequest = new XMLHttpRequest(); ajaxTimeout = setTimeout(function() {timeoutAjax(ajaxRequest, "showMessage")}, "5000"); ajaxRequest.onreadystatechange = function() { if(ajaxRequest.readyState == 4 ) { clearTimeout(ajaxTimeout); switch ( ajaxRequest.status ) { case 200: var jsonOut = JSON.parse(ajaxRequest.responseText); addMachineToDropdown(jsonOut.??, machineDropdown); break; default: document.getElementById("showMessage").innerHTML = ajaxRequest.responseText; } } } var aMonthAgo = new Date(); with(aMonthAgo) { setMonth(getMonth() - 1) } aMonthAgo = aMonthAgo.getYYYYMMDD(); var ??? = "29991231"; var url = "../resources/machine/list/" + window.workRegionCode + "/" + aMonthAgo + "/" + ???; ajaxRequest.open("GET", url, true); ajaxRequest.send(null) } function getWorkRegions() { var ajaxRequest = new XMLHttpRequest(); ajaxTimeout = setTimeout(function() {timeoutAjax(ajaxRequest, "showMessage")}, "5000"); ajaxRequest.onreadystatechange = function() { if(ajaxRequest.readyState == 4 ) { clearTimeout(ajaxTimeout); switch ( ajaxRequest.status ) { case 200: var jsonOut = JSON.parse(ajaxRequest.responseText); //set global variable workRegionCode setFirstIndexWorkRegionCode(jsonOut); addWorkRegionToDropdown(jsonOut.???, workRegionDropdown); default: document.getElementById("showMessage").innerHTML = ajaxRequest.responseText; } } } var url = "../resources/workshop/list"; ajaxRequest.open("GET", url, true); ajaxRequest.send(null) }//end getWorkRegions() function setFirstIndexWorkRegionCode(jsonString) { //here I set the value to work region code! window.workRegionCode = jsonString.???[0].??????; alert("??????: " + window.workRegionCode); }

  • How to find the next generated value for a auto-increment column?

    - by Tim Büthe
    I face some trouble with IBM DB2's auto-increment columns. At first, all my columns were defined as GENERATED ALWAYS, but since I had trouble with this when using the "db2 import ..." command, I changed them to GENERATED BY DEFAULT. This is necessary, sinceI need the IDs to be consistent, because other tables reference them. So using "db2 import ... modified by identityignore ..." isn't an option. When I now import data, the IDs are inserted correctly, but everytime I do this, I have to remember to set a new start for the auto-increment column by getting the highest Id+1 and alter the column like this: SELECT MAX(mycolumn)+ 1 FROM mytable; ALTER TABLE mytable ALTER COLUMN mycolumn RESTART WITH <above_result>; If I forget this, an Insert-Statement will fail with an duplicate PK error, since the auto-increment column is the primary key. So my question is: Is there a way to find the next value for an auto-increment column, so I could write Statements that would check, if this value is less then the SELECT MAX and needs to be set? Or: Isn't this whole thing as complicated as it seems to me? Could I somehow import data, preserving the IDs and have the auto-increment column still working as expected?

  • How to quickly check if two columns in Excel are equivalent in value?

    - by mindless.panda
    I am interested in taking two columns and getting a quick answer on whether they are equivalent in value or not. Let me show you what I mean: So its trivial to make another column (EQUAL) that does a simple compare for each pair of cells in the two columns. It's also trivial to use conditional formatting on one of the two, checking its value against the other. The problem is both of these methods require scanning the third column or the color of one of the columns. Often I am doing this for columns that are very, very long, and visual verification would take too long and neither do I trust my eyes. I could use a pivot table to summarize the EQUAL column and see if any FALSE entries occur. I could also enable filtering and click on the filter on EQUAL and see what entries are shown. Again, all of these methods are time consuming for what seems to be such a simple computational task. What I'm interested in finding out is if there is a single cell formula that answers the question. I attempted one above in the screenshot, but clearly it doesn't do what I expected, since A10 does not equal B10. Anyone know of one that works or some other method that accomplishes this?

  • How do I debug this javascript -- I don't get an error in Firebug but it's not working as expected.

    - by Angela
    I installed the plugin better-edit-in-place (http://github.com/nakajima/better-edit-in-place) but I dont' seem to be able to make it work. The plugin creates javascript, and also automatically creates a rel and class. The expected behavior is to make an edit-in-place, but it currently is not. Nothing happens when I mouse over. When I use firebug, it is rendering the value to be edited correctly: <span rel="/emails/1" id="email_1_days" class="editable">7</span> And it is showing the full javascript which should work on class editable. I didn't copy everything, just the chunks that seemed should be operationable if I have a class name in the DOM. // Editable: Better in-place-editing // http://github.com/nakajima/nakatype/wikis/better-edit-in-place-editable-js var Editable = Class.create({ initialize: function(element, options) { this.element = $(element); Object.extend(this, options); // Set default values for options this.editField = this.editField || {}; this.editField.type = this.editField.type || 'input'; this.onLoading = this.onLoading || Prototype.emptyFunction; this.onComplete = this.onComplete || Prototype.emptyFunction; this.field = this.parseField(); this.value = this.element.innerHTML; this.setupForm(); this.setupBehaviors(); }, // In order to parse the field correctly, it's necessary that the element // you want to edit in place for have an id of (model_name)_(id)_(field_name). // For example, if you want to edit the "caption" field in a "Photo" model, // your id should be something like "photo_#{@photo.id}_caption". // If you want to edit the "comment_body" field in a "MemberBlogPost" model, // it would be: "member_blog_post_#{@member_blog_post.id}_comment_body" parseField: function() { var matches = this.element.id.match(/(.*)_\d*_(.*)/); this.modelName = matches[1]; this.fieldName = matches[2]; if (this.editField.foreignKey) this.fieldName += '_id'; return this.modelName + '[' + this.fieldName + ']'; }, // Create the editing form for the editable and inserts it after the element. // If window._token is defined, then we add a hidden element that contains the // authenticity_token for the AJAX request. setupForm: function() { this.editForm = new Element('form', { 'action': this.element.readAttribute('rel'), 'style':'display:none', 'class':'in-place-editor' }); this.setupInputElement(); if (this.editField.tag != 'select') { this.saveInput = new Element('input', { type:'submit', value: Editable.options.saveText }); if (this.submitButtonClass) this.saveInput.addClassName(this.submitButtonClass); this.cancelLink = new Element('a', { href:'#' }).update(Editable.options.cancelText); if (this.cancelButtonClass) this.cancelLink.addClassName(this.cancelButtonClass); } var methodInput = new Element('input', { type:'hidden', value:'put', name:'_method' }); if (typeof(window._token) != 'undefined') { this.editForm.insert(new Element('input', { type: 'hidden', value: window._token, name: 'authenticity_token' })); } this.editForm.insert(this.editField.element); if (this.editField.type != 'select') { this.editForm.insert(this.saveInput); this.editForm.insert(this.cancelLink); } this.editForm.insert(methodInput); this.element.insert({ after: this.editForm }); }, // Create input element - text input, text area or select box. setupInputElement: function() { this.editField.element = new Element(this.editField.type, { 'name':this.field, 'id':('edit_' + this.element.id) }); if(this.editField['class']) this.editField.element.addClassName(this.editField['class']); if(this.editField.type == 'select') { // Create options var options = this.editField.options.map(function(option) { return new Option(option[0], option[1]); }); // And assign them to select element options.each(function(option, index) { this.editField.element.options[index] = options[index]; }.bind(this)); // Set selected option try { this.editField.element.selectedIndex = $A(this.editField.element.options).find(function(option) { return option.text == this.element.innerHTML; }.bind(this)).index; } catch(e) { this.editField.element.selectedIndex = 0; } // Set event handlers to automaticall submit form when option is changed this.editField.element.observe('blur', this.cancel.bind(this)); this.editField.element.observe('change', this.save.bind(this)); } else { // Copy value of the element to the input this.editField.element.value = this.element.innerHTML; } }, // Sets up event handles for editable. setupBehaviors: function() { this.element.observe('click', this.edit.bindAsEventListener(this)); if (this.saveInput) this.editForm.observe('submit', this.save.bindAsEventListener(this)); if (this.cancelLink) this.cancelLink.observe('click', this.cancel.bindAsEventListener(this)); }, // Event Handler that activates form and hides element. edit: function(event) { this.element.hide(); this.editForm.show(); this.editField.element.activate ?   • Suds array of arrays not nesting

    - by joshcartme
    Let me preface this by saying that I am still pretty new to SOAP and how things should work. I'm working with the Vertical Response API. I'm having trouble getting suds to construct the xml correctly for a request. Here is some code: from suds.client import Client url = 'https://api.verticalresponse.com/wsdl/1.0/VRAPI.wsdl' client = Client(url) vr = client.service ... test_list = ( ( { 'name' : 'email_address', 'value' : login['username'], }, { 'name' : 'First_Name', 'value' : 'VR_User', } ), ( { 'name' : 'email_address', 'value' : '[email protected]', }, { 'name' : 'First_Name', 'value' : login['username'], }, ), ) # sid and cid are correctly retrieved prior to this point print "Sending test message..." vr.sendEmailCampaignTest({ 'session_id' : sid, 'campaign_id' : cid, 'recipients' : test_list, }) In this context login['username'] is just an email address. That code raises this error: suds.WebFault: Server raised fault: 'Application failed during request deserialization: Too many elements in array. 4 instead of claimed 2 (2) Here is the the definition of sendEmailCampaignTest: http://developers.verticalresponse.com/api/soap/methods/campaigns/sendemailcampaigntest/ Here is the xml that logging outputs (I removed the session_id and list_id for display here): DEBUG:suds.client:headers = {'SOAPAction': u'"VR/API/1_0#sendEmailCampaignTest"', 'Content-Type': 'text/xml; charset=utf-8'} ERROR:suds.client:<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:ns3="http://api.verticalresponse.com/1.0/VRAPI.xsd" xmlns:SOAP-ENC="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/" xmlns:ns0="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:ns1="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:ns2="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:ns4="VR/API/1_0" xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" SOAP-ENV:encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/"> <SOAP-ENV:Header/> <ns0:Body> <ns4:sendEmailCampaignTest> <args xsi:type="ns3:sendEmailCampaignTestArgs"> <session_id xsi:type="ns1:string">redacted</session_id> <campaign_id xsi:type="ns1:int">redacted</campaign_id> <recipients xsi:type="ns3:ArrayOfNVDictionary" ns2:arrayType="ns3:NVDictionary[2]"> <item> <name xsi:type="ns1:string">email_address</name> <value xsi:type="ns1:string">[email protected]</value> </item> <item> <name xsi:type="ns1:string">First_Name</name> <value xsi:type="ns1:string">VR_User</value> </item> <item> <name xsi:type="ns1:string">email_address</name> <value xsi:type="ns1:string">[email protected]</value> </item> <item> <name xsi:type="ns1:string">First_Name</name> <value xsi:type="ns1:string">[email protected]</value> </item> </recipients> </args> </ns4:sendEmailCampaignTest> </ns0:Body> </SOAP-ENV:Envelope> DEBUG:suds.client:http failed: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:SOAP-ENC="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/" xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" SOAP-ENV:encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/"><SOAP-ENV:Body><SOAP-ENV:Fault><faultcode>SOAP-ENV:Client</faultcode><faultstring>Application failed during request deserialization: Too many elements in array. 4 instead of claimed 2 (2) </faultstring></SOAP-ENV:Fault></SOAP-ENV:Body></SOAP-ENV:Envelope> a ruby script (provided by Vertical Response) that does the same things as the script I am working on in python outputs the following xml (I removed the session_id and list_id): <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <env:Envelope xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <env:Body> <n1:sendEmailCampaignTest xmlns:n1="VR/API/1_0" env:encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/"> <args xmlns:n2="http://api.verticalresponse.com/1.0/VRAPI.xsd" xsi:type="n2:sendEmailCampaignTestArgs"> <session_id xsi:type="xsd:string">redacted</session_id> <campaign_id xsi:type="xsd:int">redacted</campaign_id> <recipients xmlns:n3="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/" xsi:type="n3:Array" n3:arrayType="n2:NVDictionary[2]"> <item xsi:type="n3:Array" n3:arrayType="n2:NVPair[2]"> <item> <name xsi:type="xsd:string">email_address</name> <value href="#id9496430"></value> </item> <item> <name xsi:type="xsd:string">First_Name</name> <value xsi:type="xsd:string">VR_User</value> </item> </item> <item xsi:type="n3:Array" n3:arrayType="n2:NVPair[2]"> <item> <name xsi:type="xsd:string">email_address</name> <value xsi:type="xsd:string">[email protected]</value> </item> <item> <name xsi:type="xsd:string">First_Name</name> <value href="#id9496430"></value> </item> </item> </recipients> </args> </n1:sendEmailCampaignTest> <value id="id9496430" xsi:type="xsd:string" env:encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/">[email protected]</value> </env:Body> </env:Envelope> I understand that the error is in the construction of recipients. It should contain two items, each that contain two items but my python script using suds is setting it up to contain four unnested items. So my question is how can I get suds to correctly construct the xml?

    I am building a data aqusition system using PhoneGap. .I am trying to store my form data temporary on local storage using JSON,Data should be visible after I close and reopen the application (after pressing Get Data button),But after I close it only the lastly entered record is visible This is my code <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <title>Household Profile DB storage</title> <meta charset="utf-8"> <meta name="viewport" content="user-scalable=no, initial-scale=1, maximum-scale=1, minimum-scale=1,width=device-width" /> <link rel="stylesheet" href="jquery.mobile-1.4.2/jquery.mobile-1.4.2.min.css"> <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/table.css"> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-1.9.1.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.mobile-1.4.2/jquery.mobile-1.4.2.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/iscroll.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"> function onDeviceReady() { persistData(homeId,owner,gramaND,contactNo,address,race); } function saveLocal(form){ if (window.localStorage) { var fhomeId = form.homeId.value, fowner = form.owner.value, fgramaND = form.gramaND.value, fcontactNo= form.contactNo.value, faddress = form.address.value, frace = form.race.value; alert("hi"); var highscores = [{"homeId": fhomeId, "owner":fowner, "gramaND":fgramaND, "contactNo":fcontactNo, "address":faddress, "race":frace}]; localStorage.setItem("highscores",JSON.stringify(highscores)); alert("The data has been stored successfully."); } else { alert("Your Browser does not support LocalStorage."); } } function readLocal(){ if (window.localStorage) { var scores =[]; //Get the highscores object scores = localStorage.getItem("highscores"); scores = JSON.parse(scores); for (i=0;i<scores.length;i++){ var text = "homeId :"+scores[i].homeId +"<br>"+ "owner:"+ scores[i].owner+"<br>"+ "address"+scores[i].address +"<br>"+ "gramaND"+scores[i].gramaND +"<br>"+ "contactNo"+scores[i].contactNo+"<br>" + '<Button value="DELETE" onclick="'+scores.splice(i, 0)+'><>/Button>'; var tbodyx = document.getElementsByTagName("tbody"); var tr=document.createElement("TR"); var td=document.createElement("TD"); td.innerHTML = text; tr.appendChild(td); tbody.appendChild(tr); } } } </script> </head> <body> <div data-role="page" id="page1"> <!--/header--> <div data-role="header" data-position="inline" data-theme="b"> <a href="#" data-icon="back" data-rel="back" title="Go back">Back</a> <h1>Household Profile</h1> <a href="index.html" data-icon="home">Menu</a> </div> <!--/header--> <div id="wrapper"> <form id="userInput" action ="" method="GET"> <div data-role="content"> <div data-role="fieldcontain"> <label > Home ID </label> <input class="inputClass" id="homeId" placeholder="H0001" value="" data-mini="true" type="text"> </div> <div data-role="fieldcontain"> <label > Owner </label> <input class="inputClass" id="owner" placeholder="Aberathne" value="" type="text"> </div> <div data-role="fieldcontain"> <label class="select">GramaNiladhari Division</label> <select class="inputClass" id="gramaND"> <option value="GramaNiladhari Division 1">GramaNiladhari Division 1</option> <option value="GramaNiladhari Division 2">GramaNiladhari Division 2</option> <option value="GramaNiladhari Division 3">GramaNiladhari Division 3</option> <option value="GramaNiladhari Division 4">GramaNiladhari Division 4</option> </select> </div> <div data-role="fieldcontain"> <label > Contact No </label> <input class="inputClass" id="contactNo" placeholder="071-9545-073" value="" type="number"> </div> <div data-role="fieldcontain"> <label >Address:</label> <textarea cols="40" rows="8" class="inputClass" id="address"></textarea> </div> <div class="ui-block-a"><button type="submit" data-theme="d">Location in a Map</button></div> <div data-role="fieldcontain"> <label >Race</label> <select class="inputClass" id="race"> <option value=" Sinhalese"> Sinhalese</option> <option value=" Sri Lanka Tamils"> Sri Lanka Tamils</option> <option value=" Moors"> Moors</option> <option value=" Indian Tamils "> Indian Tamils </option> <option value=" Malays "> Malays </option> <option value=" Burghers "> Burghers </option> </select> </div> <input class="buttonClass" type="button" value="Insert Data" onclick="saveLocal(this.form);"> </div> </form> </div> <input class="buttonClass" type="button" value="get Data" onclick="readLocal();"> <!-- <p id="dhomeId"></p> <p id="downer"></p> <p id="dgramaND"></p> <p id="dcontactNo"></p> <p id="daddress"></p> <p id="drace"></p>--> <table border="1"> <tbody id="tbody"> <tr><td>test1</td></tr> <tr><td>test2</td></tr> </tbody> </table> </div> </body> </html> Also I need to expand my code to edit and delete record from local storage.

  • Optional Parameters and Named Arguments in C# 4 (and a cool scenario w/ ASP.NET MVC 2)

    - by ScottGu
    [In addition to blogging, I am also now using Twitter for quick updates and to share links. Follow me at: twitter.com/scottgu] This is the seventeenth in a series of blog posts I’m doing on the upcoming VS 2010 and .NET 4 release. Today’s post covers two new language feature being added to C# 4.0 – optional parameters and named arguments – as well as a cool way you can take advantage of optional parameters (both in VB and C#) with ASP.NET MVC 2. Optional Parameters in C# 4.0 C# 4.0 now supports using optional parameters with methods, constructors, and indexers (note: VB has supported optional parameters for awhile). Parameters are optional when a default value is specified as part of a declaration.  For example, the method below takes two parameters – a “category” string parameter, and a “pageIndex” integer parameter.  The “pageIndex” parameter has a default value of 0, and as such is an optional parameter: When calling the above method we can explicitly pass two parameters to it: Or we can omit passing the second optional parameter – in which case the default value of 0 will be passed:   Note that VS 2010’s Intellisense indicates when a parameter is optional, as well as what its default value is when statement completion is displayed: Named Arguments and Optional Parameters in C# 4.0 C# 4.0 also now supports the concept of “named arguments”.  This allows you to explicitly name an argument you are passing to a method – instead of just identifying it by argument position.  For example, I could write the code below to explicitly identify the second argument passed to the GetProductsByCategory method by name (making its usage a little more explicit): Named arguments come in very useful when a method supports multiple optional parameters, and you want to specify which arguments you are passing.  For example, below we have a method DoSomething that takes two optional parameters: We could use named arguments to call the above method in any of the below ways: Because both parameters are optional, in cases where only one (or zero) parameters is specified then the default value for any non-specified arguments is passed. ASP.NET MVC 2 and Optional Parameters One nice usage scenario where we can now take advantage of the optional parameter support of VB and C# is with ASP.NET MVC 2’s input binding support to Action methods on Controller classes. For example, consider a scenario where we want to map URLs like “Products/Browse/Beverages” or “Products/Browse/Deserts” to a controller action method.  We could do this by writing a URL routing rule that maps the URLs to a method like so: We could then optionally use a “page” querystring value to indicate whether or not the results displayed by the Browse method should be paged – and if so which page of the results should be displayed.  For example: /Products/Browse/Beverages?page=2. With ASP.NET MVC 1 you would typically handle this scenario by adding a “page” parameter to the action method and make it a nullable int (which means it will be null if the “page” querystring value is not present).  You could then write code like below to convert the nullable int to an int – and assign it a default value if it was not present in the querystring: With ASP.NET MVC 2 you can now take advantage of the optional parameter support in VB and C# to express this behavior more concisely and clearly.  Simply declare the action method parameter as an optional parameter with a default value: C# VB If the “page” value is present in the querystring (e.g. /Products/Browse/Beverages?page=22) then it will be passed to the action method as an integer.  If the “page” value is not in the querystring (e.g. /Products/Browse/Beverages) then the default value of 0 will be passed to the action method.  This makes the code a little more concise and readable. Summary There are a bunch of great new language features coming to both C# and VB with VS 2010.  The above two features (optional parameters and named parameters) are but two of them.  I’ll blog about more in the weeks and months ahead. If you are looking for a good book that summarizes all the language features in C# (including C# 4.0), as well provides a nice summary of the core .NET class libraries, you might also want to check out the newly released C# 4.0 in a Nutshell book from O’Reilly: It does a very nice job of packing a lot of content in an easy to search and find samples format. Hope this helps, Scott

  • NHibernate Pitfalls: Custom Types and Detecting Changes

    - by Ricardo Peres
    This is part of a series of posts about NHibernate Pitfalls. See the entire collection here. NHibernate supports the declaration of properties of user-defined types, that is, not entities, collections or primitive types. These are used for mapping a database columns, of any type, into a different type, which may not even be an entity; think, for example, of a custom user type that converts a BLOB column into an Image. User types must implement interface NHibernate.UserTypes.IUserType. This interface specifies an Equals method that is used for comparing two instances of the user type. If this method returns false, the entity is marked as dirty, and, when the session is flushed, will trigger an UPDATE. So, in your custom user type, you must implement this carefully so that it is not mistakenly considered changed. For example, you can cache the original column value inside of it, and compare it with the one in the other instance. Let’s see an example implementation of a custom user type that converts a Byte[] from a BLOB column into an Image: 1: [Serializable] 2: public sealed class ImageUserType : IUserType 3: { 4: private Byte[] data = null; 5: 6: public ImageUserType() 7: { 8: this.ImageFormat = ImageFormat.Png; 9: } 10: 11: public ImageFormat ImageFormat 12: { 13: get; 14: set; 15: } 16: 17: public Boolean IsMutable 18: { 19: get 20: { 21: return (true); 22: } 23: } 24: 25: public Object Assemble(Object cached, Object owner) 26: { 27: return (cached); 28: } 29: 30: public Object DeepCopy(Object value) 31: { 32: return (value); 33: } 34: 35: public Object Disassemble(Object value) 36: { 37: return (value); 38: } 39: 40: public new Boolean Equals(Object x, Object y) 41: { 42: return (Object.Equals(x, y)); 43: } 44: 45: public Int32 GetHashCode(Object x) 46: { 47: return ((x != null) ? x.GetHashCode() : 0); 48: } 49: 50: public override Int32 GetHashCode() 51: { 52: return ((this.data != null) ? this.data.GetHashCode() : 0); 53: } 54: 55: public override Boolean Equals(Object obj) 56: { 57: ImageUserType other = obj as ImageUserType; 58: 59: if (other == null) 60: { 61: return (false); 62: } 63: 64: if (Object.ReferenceEquals(this, other) == true) 65: { 66: return (true); 67: } 68: 69: return (this.data.SequenceEqual(other.data)); 70: } 71: 72: public Object NullSafeGet(IDataReader rs, String[] names, Object owner) 73: { 74: Int32 index = rs.GetOrdinal(names[0]); 75: Byte[] data = rs.GetValue(index) as Byte[]; 76: 77: this.data = data as Byte[]; 78: 79: if (data == null) 80: { 81: return (null); 82: } 83: 84: using (MemoryStream stream = new MemoryStream(this.data ?? new Byte[0])) 85: { 86: return (Image.FromStream(stream)); 87: } 88: } 89: 90: public void NullSafeSet(IDbCommand cmd, Object value, Int32 index) 91: { 92: if (value != null) 93: { 94: Image data = value as Image; 95: 96: using (MemoryStream stream = new MemoryStream()) 97: { 98: data.Save(stream, this.ImageFormat); 99: value = stream.ToArray(); 100: } 101: } 102: 103: (cmd.Parameters[index] as DbParameter).Value = value ?? DBNull.Value; 104: } 105: 106: public Object Replace(Object original, Object target, Object owner) 107: { 108: return (original); 109: } 110: 111: public Type ReturnedType 112: { 113: get 114: { 115: return (typeof(Image)); 116: } 117: } 118: 119: public SqlType[] SqlTypes 120: { 121: get 122: { 123: return (new SqlType[] { new SqlType(DbType.Binary) }); 124: } 125: } 126: } In this case, we need to cache the original Byte[] data because it’s not easy to compare two Image instances, unless, of course, they are the same.

  • E-Business Suite : Role of CHUNK_SIZE in Oracle Payroll

    - by Giri Mandalika
    Different batch processes in Oracle Payroll flow have the ability to spawn multiple child processes (or threads) to complete the work in hand. The number of child processes to fork is controlled by the THREADS parameter in APPS.PAY_ACTION_PARAMETERS view. THREADS parameter The default value for THREADS parameter is 1, which is fine for a single-processor system but not optimal for the modern multi-core multi-processor systems. Setting the THREADS parameter to a value equal to or less than the total number of [virtual] processors available on the system may improve the performance of payroll processing. However on the down side, since multiple child processes operate against the same set of payroll tables in HR schema, database may experience undesired consequences such as buffer busy waits and index contention, which results in giving up some of the gains achieved by using multiple child processes/threads to process the work. Couple of other action parameters, CHUNK_SIZE and CHUNK_SHUFFLE, help alleviate the database contention. eg., Set a value for THREADS parameter as shown below. CONNECT APPS/APPS_PASSWORD UPDATE PAY_ACTION_PARAMETERS SET PARAMETER_VALUE = DESIRED_VALUE WHERE PARAMETER_NAME = 'THREADS'; COMMIT; (I am not aware of any maximum value for THREADS parameter) CHUNK_SIZE parameter The size of each commit unit for the batch process is controlled by the CHUNK_SIZE action parameter. In other words, chunking is the act of splitting the assignment actions into commit groups of desired size represented by the CHUNK_SIZE parameter. The default value is 20, and each thread processes one chunk at a time -- which means each child process inserts or processes 20 assignment actions at any time. When multiple threads are configured, each thread picks up a chunk to process, completes the assignment actions and then picks up another chunk. This is repeated until all the chunks are exhausted. It is possible to use different chunk sizes in different batch processes. During the initial phase of processing, CHUNK_SIZE number of assignment actions are inserted into relevant table(s). When multiple child processes are inserting data at the same time into the same set of tables, as explained earlier, database may experience contention. The default value of 20 is mostly optimal in such a case. Experiment with different values for the initial phase by +/-10 for CHUNK_SIZE parameter and observe the performance impact. A larger value may make sense during the main processing phase. Again experimentation is the key in finding the suitable value for your environment. Start with a large value such as 2000 for the chunk size, then increment or decrement the size by 500 at a time until an optimal value is found. eg., Set a value for CHUNK_SIZE parameter as shown below. CONNECT APPS/APPS_PASSWORD UPDATE PAY_ACTION_PARAMETERS SET PARAMETER_VALUE = DESIRED_VALUE WHERE PARAMETER_NAME = 'CHUNK_SIZE'; COMMIT; CHUNK_SIZE action parameter accepts a value that is as low as 1 or as high as 16000. CHUNK SHUFFLE parameter By default, chunks of assignment actions are processed sequentially by all threads - which may not be a good thing especially given that all child processes/threads performing similar actions against the same set of tables almost at the same time. By saying not a good thing, I mean to say that the default behavior leads to contention in the database (in data blocks, for example). It is possible to relieve some of that database contention by randomizing the processing order of chunks of assignment actions. This behavior is controlled by the CHUNK SHUFFLE action parameter. Chunk processing is not randomized unless explicitly configured. eg., Set chunk shuffling as shown below. CONNECT APPS/APPS_PASSWORD UPDATE PAY_ACTION_PARAMETERS SET PARAMETER_VALUE = 'Y' WHERE PARAMETER_NAME = 'CHUNK SHUFFLE'; COMMIT; Finally I recommend checking the following document out for additional details and additional pay action tunable parameters that may speed up the processing of Oracle Payroll.     My Oracle Support Doc ID: 226987.1 Oracle 11i & R12 Human Resources (HRMS) & Benefits (BEN) Tuning & System Health Checks Also experiment with different combinations of parameters and values until the right set of action parameters and values are found for your deployment.

  • SQL Server: Writing CASE expressions properly when NULLs are involved

    - by Mladen Prajdic
    We’ve all written a CASE expression (yes, it’s an expression and not a statement) or two every now and then. But did you know there are actually 2 formats you can write the CASE expression in? This actually bit me when I was trying to add some new functionality to an old stored procedure. In some rare cases the stored procedure just didn’t work correctly. After a quick look it turned out to be a CASE expression problem when dealing with NULLS. In the first format we make simple “equals to” comparisons to a value: SELECT CASE <value> WHEN <equals this value> THEN <return this> WHEN <equals this value> THEN <return this> -- ... more WHEN's here ELSE <return this> END Second format is much more flexible since it allows for complex conditions. USE THIS ONE! SELECT CASE WHEN <value> <compared to> <value> THEN <return this> WHEN <value> <compared to> <value> THEN <return this> -- ... more WHEN's here ELSE <return this> END Now that we know both formats and you know which to use (the second one if that hasn’t been clear enough) here’s an example how the first format WILL make your evaluation logic WRONG. Run the following code for different values of @i. Just comment out any 2 out of 3 “SELECT @i =” statements. DECLARE @i INTSELECT  @i = -1 -- first resultSELECT  @i = 55 -- second resultSELECT  @i = NULL -- third resultSELECT @i AS OriginalValue, -- first CASE format. DON'T USE THIS! CASE @i WHEN -1 THEN '-1' WHEN NULL THEN 'We have a NULL!' ELSE 'We landed in ELSE' END AS DontUseThisCaseFormatValue, -- second CASE format. USE THIS! CASE WHEN @i = -1 THEN '-1' WHEN @i IS NULL THEN 'We have a NULL!' ELSE 'We landed in ELSE' END AS UseThisCaseFormatValue When the value of @i is –1 everything works as expected, since both formats go into the –1 WHEN branch. When the value of @i is 55 everything again works as expected, since both formats go into the ELSE branch. When the value of @i is NULL the problems become evident. The first format doesn’t go into the WHEN NULL branch because it makes an equality comparison between two NULLs. Because a NULL is an unknown value: NULL = NULL is false. That is why the first format goes into the ELSE Branch but the second format correctly handles the proper IS NULL comparison.   Please use the second more explicit format. Your future self will be very grateful to you when he doesn’t have to discover these kinds of bugs.

  • Issue allowing custom Xml Serialization/Deserialization on certain types of field

    - by sw1sh
    I've been working with Xml Serialization/Deserialization in .net and wanted a method where the serialization/deserialization process would only be applied to certain parts of an Xml fragment. This is so I can keep certain parts of the fragment in Xml after the deserialization process. To do this I thought it would be best to create a new class (XmlLiteral) that implemented IXmlSerializable and then wrote specific code for handling the IXmlSerializable.ReadXml and IXmlSerializable.WriteXml methods. In my example below this works for Serializing, however during the Deserialization process it fails to run for multiple uses of my XmlLiteral class. In my example below sTest1 gets populated correctly, but sTest2 and sTest3 are empty. I'm guessing I must be going wrong with the following lines but can't figure out why.. Any ideas at all? Private Sub ReadXml(ByVal reader As System.Xml.XmlReader) Implements IXmlSerializable.ReadXml Dim StringType As String = "" If reader.IsEmptyElement OrElse reader.Read() = False Then Exit Sub End If _src = reader.ReadOuterXml() End Sub Full listing: Imports System Imports System.Xml.Serialization Imports System.Xml Imports System.IO Imports System.Text Public Class XmlLiteralExample Inherits System.Web.UI.Page Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Dim MyObjectInstance As New MyObject MyObjectInstance.aProperty = "MyValue" MyObjectInstance.XmlLiteral1 = New XmlLiteral("<test1>Some Value</test1>") MyObjectInstance.XmlLiteral2 = New XmlLiteral("<test2>Some Value</test2>") MyObjectInstance.XmlLiteral3 = New XmlLiteral("<test3>Some Value</test3>") ' quickly serialize the object to Xml Dim sw As New StringWriter(New StringBuilder()) Dim s As New XmlSerializer(MyObjectInstance.[GetType]()), xmlnsEmpty As New XmlSerializerNamespaces xmlnsEmpty.Add("", "") s.Serialize(sw, MyObjectInstance, xmlnsEmpty) Dim XElement As XElement = XElement.Parse(sw.ToString()) ' XElement reads as the following, so serialization works OK '<MyObject> ' <aProperty>MyValue</aProperty> ' <XmlLiteral1> ' <test1>Some Value</test1> ' </XmlLiteral1> ' <XmlLiteral2> ' <test2>Some Value</test2> ' </XmlLiteral2> ' <XmlLiteral3> ' <test3>Some Value</test3> ' </XmlLiteral3> '</MyObject> ' quickly deserialize the object back to an instance of MyObjectInstance2 Dim MyObjectInstance2 As New MyObject Dim xmlReader As XmlReader, x As XmlSerializer xmlReader = XElement.CreateReader x = New XmlSerializer(MyObjectInstance2.GetType()) MyObjectInstance2 = x.Deserialize(xmlReader) Dim sProperty As String = MyObjectInstance2.aProperty ' equal to "MyValue" Dim sTest1 As String = MyObjectInstance2.XmlLiteral1.Text ' contains <test1>Some Value</test1> Dim sTest2 As String = MyObjectInstance2.XmlLiteral2.Text ' is empty Dim sTest3 As String = MyObjectInstance2.XmlLiteral3.Text ' is empty ' sTest3 and sTest3 should be populated but are not? xmlReader = Nothing End Sub Public Class MyObject Private _aProperty As String Private _XmlLiteral1 As XmlLiteral Private _XmlLiteral2 As XmlLiteral Private _XmlLiteral3 As XmlLiteral Public Property aProperty As String Get Return _aProperty End Get Set(ByVal value As String) _aProperty = value End Set End Property Public Property XmlLiteral1 As XmlLiteral Get Return _XmlLiteral1 End Get Set(ByVal value As XmlLiteral) _XmlLiteral1 = value End Set End Property Public Property XmlLiteral2 As XmlLiteral Get Return _XmlLiteral2 End Get Set(ByVal value As XmlLiteral) _XmlLiteral2 = value End Set End Property Public Property XmlLiteral3 As XmlLiteral Get Return _XmlLiteral3 End Get Set(ByVal value As XmlLiteral) _XmlLiteral3 = value End Set End Property Public Sub New() _XmlLiteral1 = New XmlLiteral _XmlLiteral2 = New XmlLiteral _XmlLiteral3 = New XmlLiteral End Sub End Class <System.Xml.Serialization.XmlRootAttribute(Namespace:="", IsNullable:=False)> _ Public Class XmlLiteral Implements IXmlSerializable Private _src As String Public Property Text() As String Get Return _src End Get Set(ByVal value As String) _src = value End Set End Property Public Sub New() _src = "" End Sub Public Sub New(ByVal Text As String) _src = Text End Sub #Region "IXmlSerializable Members" Private Function GetSchema() As System.Xml.Schema.XmlSchema Implements IXmlSerializable.GetSchema Return Nothing End Function Private Sub ReadXml(ByVal reader As System.Xml.XmlReader) Implements IXmlSerializable.ReadXml Dim StringType As String = "" If reader.IsEmptyElement OrElse reader.Read() = False Then Exit Sub End If _src = reader.ReadOuterXml() End Sub Private Sub WriteXml(ByVal writer As System.Xml.XmlWriter) Implements IXmlSerializable.WriteXml writer.WriteRaw(_src) End Sub #End Region End Class End Class

  • Struts2 Populating Checkbox from Arraylist of Objects

    - by user2972139
    I'm sure that I'm doing something dumb but I've been going craze over the last couple of days trying to get my checkboxes filled out inside an iterator that goes over an arraylist of object. Here is my object: public class EmailObject { int emailId; String emailAddress; public int getEmailId() { return emailId; } public void setEmailId(int emailId) { this.emailId = emailId; } public String getEmailAddress() { return emailAddress; } public void setEmailAddress(String emailAddress) { this.emailAddress = emailAddress; } } In my action class, I create an arraylist of the above EmailObjects. On my jsp page, I can get checkboxes through a checkboxlist (but this isn't good for me because I want it to be vertical and don't want to mess with the struts styles) <s:checkboxlist name="selectedEmails" list="userEmails" listValue="emailAddress" listKey="emailId" /> I can also iterate over the arraylist userEmails and display the values: <s:iterator value="userEmails" var="thisEmailData"> <s:property value="emailId"/> <s:property value="emailAddress"/> </s:iterator> But I can't get it to display the emailId when iterating over the arraylist userEmails. I tried all of these: <s:iterator value="userEmails" var="thisEmailData"> <tr><td><s:property value="emailId"/></td></tr> <tr><td> <s:checkbox fieldValue="%{#emailId}" name="emailAddressesCB" theme="simple" ></s:checkbox> <s:checkbox fieldValue="#emailId" name="emailAddressesCB" theme="simple" ></s:checkbox> <s:checkbox fieldValue="thisEmailData.emailId" name="emailAddressesCB" theme="simple" ></s:checkbox> <s:checkbox fieldValue="userEmails.emailId" name="emailAddressesCB" theme="simple" ></s:checkbox> <s:checkbox fieldValue="#thisEmailData.emailId" name="emailAddressesCB" theme="simple" ></s:checkbox> <s:checkbox fieldValue="#userEmails.emailId" name="emailAddressesCB" theme="simple" ></s:checkbox> <s:checkbox fieldValue="%{#thisEmailData.emailId}" name="emailAddressesCB" theme="simple" ></s:checkbox> <s:checkbox fieldValue="%{#userEmails.emailId}" name="emailAddressesCB" theme="simple" ></s:checkbox> <s:checkbox fieldValue="emailId" name="emailAddressesCB" theme="simple" ></s:checkbox> <s:checkbox value="%{#emailId}" name="emailAddressesCB" theme="simple" ></s:checkbox> <s:checkbox value="#emailId" name="emailAddressesCB" theme="simple" ></s:checkbox> <s:checkbox value="thisEmailData.emailId" name="emailAddressesCB" theme="simple" ></s:checkbox> <s:checkbox value="userEmails.emailId" name="emailAddressesCB" theme="simple" ></s:checkbox> <s:checkbox value="#thisEmailData.emailId" name="emailAddressesCB" theme="simple" ></s:checkbox> <s:checkbox value="#userEmails.emailId" name="emailAddressesCB" theme="simple" ></s:checkbox> <s:checkbox value="%{#thisEmailData.emailId}" name="emailAddressesCB" theme="simple" ></s:checkbox> <s:checkbox value="%{#userEmails.emailId}" name="emailAddressesCB" theme="simple" ></s:checkbox> <s:checkbox value="emailId" name="emailAddressesCB" theme="simple" > </s:checkbox> <s:property value="emailAddress"/> </td></tr> </s:iterator> </td></tr> </s:iterator> From the above, the value field is never filled with the value of the emailId. I know I'm missing something basic. What is it? THANK YOU.

  • Multibinding File-Paths into a Button ControlTemplate

    - by Bill
    I am trying to develop an application that uses a number of images that are stored in a seperate remote file location. The file-paths to the UI elements are stored within the Application Settings. Although I understand how to access the images from Applications Settings using a MultiBinding and a value converter, I'm not sure how to integrate the Multibinding into the ImageButton ControlTemplate below. Can anyone steer me in the right direction? <Image.Source> <MultiBinding Converter="{StaticResource MyConverter}"> <Binding Source="{StaticResource Properties.Settings}" Path="Default.pathToInterfaceImages" /> <Binding Source="ScreenSaver.png"></Binding> </MultiBinding> </Image.Source> <Button Click="btn_ScreenSaver_Click" Style="{DynamicResource ThreeImageButton}" local:ThreeImageButton.Image="C:\Skins\ScreenSaver_UP.png" local:ThreeImageButton.MouseOverImage="C:\Skins\ScreenSaver_OVER.png" local:ThreeImageButton.PressedImage="C:\Skins\ScreenSaver_DOWN.png"/> <Style x:Key="ThreeImageButton" TargetType="{x:Type Button}"> <Setter Property="FontSize" Value="10"/> <Setter Property="Height" Value="34"/> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type Button}"> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal" > <Image Name="PART_Image" Source= "{Binding Path=(local:ThreeImageButton.Image), RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType={x:Type Button}}}" /> </StackPanel> <ControlTemplate.Triggers> <Trigger Property="IsMouseOver" Value="True"> <Setter Property="Source" Value="{Binding Path=(local:ThreeImageButton.MouseOverImage), RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType={x:Type Button}}}" TargetName="PART_Image"/> </Trigger> <Trigger Property="IsPressed" Value="True"> <Setter Property="Source" Value="{Binding Path=(local:ThreeImageButton.PressedImage), RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType={x:Type Button}}}" TargetName="PART_Image"/> </Trigger> <Trigger Property="IsEnabled" Value="False"> <Setter Property="Source" Value="{Binding Path=(local:ThreeImageButton.Image), RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType={x:Type Button}}}" TargetName="PART_Image"/> </Trigger> </ControlTemplate.Triggers> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> public class ThreeImageButton : DependencyObject { // Add three new Dependency Properties to the Button Class to hold the // path to each of the images that are bound to the control, displayed // during normal, mouse-over and pressed states. public static readonly DependencyProperty ImageProperty; public static readonly DependencyProperty MouseOverImageProperty; public static readonly DependencyProperty PressedImageProperty; public static ImageSource GetImage(DependencyObject obj) { return (ImageSource)obj.GetValue(ImageProperty); } public static ImageSource GetMouseOverImage(DependencyObject obj) { return (ImageSource)obj.GetValue(MouseOverImageProperty); } public static ImageSource GetPressedImage(DependencyObject obj) { return (ImageSource)obj.GetValue(PressedImageProperty); } public static void SetImage(DependencyObject obj, ImageSource value) { obj.SetValue(ImageProperty, value); } public static void SetMouseOverImage(DependencyObject obj, ImageSource value) { obj.SetValue(MouseOverImageProperty, value); } public static void SetPressedImage(DependencyObject obj, ImageSource value) { obj.SetValue(PressedImageProperty, value); } // Register each property with the control. static ThreeImageButton() { var metadata = new FrameworkPropertyMetadata((ImageSource)null); ImageProperty = DependencyProperty.RegisterAttached("Image", typeof(ImageSource), typeof(ThreeImageButton), metadata); var metadata1 = new FrameworkPropertyMetadata((ImageSource)null); MouseOverImageProperty = DependencyProperty.RegisterAttached("MouseOverImage", typeof(ImageSource), typeof(ThreeImageButton), metadata1); var metadata2 = new FrameworkPropertyMetadata((ImageSource)null); PressedImageProperty = DependencyProperty.RegisterAttached("PressedImage", typeof(ImageSource), typeof(ThreeImageButton), metadata2); } }
