  I'm getting the following line in the disassembly from objdump -d of an x86 linux program... 4000b0: ba 0e 00 00 00 mov $0xe,%edx I'm trying to understand how the machine code "ba 0e 00 00 00" maps to "mov $0xe,%edx" In the manual move immediate 32-bit is: B8 + rd ... MOV r32, imm32 ie "B8" not "BA" In fact none of the MOV opcodes are "BA". If someone could break down "ba 0e 00 00 00" and explain bit-wise how to get to "mov $0xe,%edx" it would be most helpful.

• Why does this eval not work in Ruby

  Can you explain this? I want to eval values and calculations from two different sources. One source gives me the following info(programmatically): 'a = 2' The second source gives me this expression to evaluate: 'a + 3' This works: a = 2 eval 'a + 3' This also works: eval 'a = 2; a + 3' But what I really need is this, and it doesn't work: eval 'a = 2' eval 'a + 3' I would like to understand the difference, and how can I make the last option work.   Good Morning, I would like to know what is the best arrangement for setting up 24 computers at a facility. We do not want these computers to join our domain because of security concerns. We plan on having these public computers connect to our wifi network. If anyone knows of the best way to approach this, that would be great! We also need to add printers to these public computers. We would also like to lock each computer down. Since we are not connecting by network, I assume we would have to configure each group policy.

  This is actually extracted from my module (Pre-processor in C) The conditional expression could contain any C operator except for the assignment operators,increment, and decrement operators. I am not sure if I am getting this statement or not since I tried using this and it worked.Also for other manipulation a probable work around would be to simply declare macro or function inside the conditional expression,something like this to be precise. • How can I disallow a user's scripts from accessing anything above their user folder?

  This is probably an extremely simple question to answer for anybody who knows what they're doing, but I can't find any answers myself. I'm trying to set up a subdirectory for my good friend to test his PHP scripts on my (Apache) hosting plan. I don't want to let him access anything else on my server, however, for obvious reasons. His FTP login already leads him to the proper directory, which does not allow navigating any higher than it's root (mydomain.com/friend/). I would like the same behavior to be applied to any scripts, so he cannot simply <?php print_r(glob("../*")); ?> and view all my files. I'm thinking this can be done with an .htaccess file setting the DocumentRoot somewhere, but I can't have the file available for modification inside the user directory. Is this possible without majorly rewiring the web server? I've tried Googling all sorts of things to describe my problem, but without the proper terminology, all I get is "shared hosting" websites and people trying to sell me security packages.

• ubuntu 10.04 span window across workspaces

  I'm using an old server machine as a linux box desktop, and as such I have a lot of power but not a lot of display options. I cannot increase my resolution past 800x600 and recently this has become just to small. I have mostly been able to workaround windows being to large for a workspace by moving them with the alt key, but I would like to use something a little more versatile. My plan is to have a setup where I can open a windows (say firefox) on the top-left workspace and then resize it so that it fills four workspaces in an emulated "wall of monitors" fashion. I already have my workspaces arranged like this, but I am not seeing any options for allowing programs/windows to exist on more than one workspace at a time, I know that what I am trying to accomplish is possible (or was at some point in time) because when I google my solution pages appear with people trying to do the opposite (windows already appear on more than one workspace and they dislike it). Any help is much appreciated.
