• jQuery image crossfader problem

  Hey!, I have a image switcher fadein/out (it will crossfade iamges - auto(1 - x) ) and a pager but i cant manage to make the image rotation listen the click action on pager, when clicked on pager the image will NOT jup tu the specific img. • Web form is not updating tables, why?

  I have a web application and on page is an update page to update some profile information. Below is the code I am using to update the table. But I think it is wrong. Does anything stick out? The connection string works cause it is used to read the database to get the profile information, I just removed it due to it containing password/login info for the db. player is the class of properties that contains player information and ds is the dataset, but I would like to update the database itself online... • iPhone: How to Maintain Original Image Size Thoughout Image Edits

  hi, I am developing an iPhone app that resizes and merges images. I want to select two photos of size 1600x1200 from photo library and then merge both into a single image and save that new image back to the photo library. However, I can't get the right size for the merged image. I take two image views of frame 320x480 and set the view's image to my imported images. After manipulating the images (zooming, cropping, rotating), I then save the image to album. When I check the image size it shows 600x800. How do I get the original size of 1600*1200? I've been stuck on this problem from two weeks! Thanks in advance.

  I have a WCF service hosted in a web application (IIS). I need to expose 1 end point over wsHttp and the other over netTcp. I am on a IIS7 environment that makes it possible for me to host non HTTP based services. Anyways, when I browse the .svc file using a browser, I get the error: The service cannot be activated because it does not support ASP.NET compatibility. ASP.NET compatibility is enabled for this application By googling, I realized that WCF runs in two modes - Mixed and ASP.NET compatible. When I apply the attribute [AspNetCompatibilityRequirements(RequirementsMode = AspNetCompatibilityRequirementsMode.Allowed)] However, it appears that once I apply this attribute to the Service Contract implementation, I cannot use a non HTTP binding. How do I set it up so that: I can support non HTTP endpoints I can host the service on a Web app I don't create multiple services one with aspnet compatibility turned on and the other turned off

  One of the main products of my company is an Oracle Forms (and Reports) based application, that "needs" to be re-written in another technology. Why? Users want a more rich interface experience, and we want, preferably, to reduce costs with an open source application server. For this (HUGE) project, we intend to use a java web application framework, keep these points in mind: We have: hundreds of tables on our database (the ORM must be as flexible as possible); some logic which is (and will still be) based on PL/SQL procedures/functions/packages; a lot of CRUDs (the application itself is of an considerable size); a demand to work with/generate documents and workflows; an intranet based user environment; We want: to offer a RIA interface experience; use (if possible) an open source app server; a rapid (as possible) development framework; a somewhat mature framework with a "wise" roadmap (and a considerable community support); a MVC approach combined with JS or GWT widgets (e.g. Vaadin or SmartGWT); Well, in the past weeks I've read a lot of posts, Q&As on stackoverflow, and much more: Wicket, JSF, Tapestry, Grails, GWT, Struts2, Play, Spring, Seam, Echo, .... the list goes on! • PHP Image resize - Why is the image uploaded but not resized?

  BACKGROUND I have a script to upload an image. One to keep the original image and one to resize the image. 1. If the image dimensions (width & height) are within max dimensions I use a simple "copy" direct to folder UserPics. 2. If the original dimensions are bigger than max dimensions I want to resize the width and height to be within max. Both of them are uploading the image to the folder, but in case 2, the image will not be resized. QUESTION Is there something wrong with the script? Is there something wrong with the settings? • ASP.NET ListView, custom DataSources, and editing items

  The MSDN walkthroughs provide a number of examples where you can drag a DataSource from the toolbox, run through some simple configuration steps, then drag a ListView onto the screen, point it at the DataSource, and hey - you've got full table editing. Now I'm trying to write my own DataSource class (a class that implements System.Web.UI.IDataSource) and my own DataSourceView class. I now assign an instance of this custom DataSource class to the ListView.DataSource propery. The display of all the items is working well. However, updating, inserting and deleting just is not working. I'm overriding every function I can in my DataSourceView class, and they just aren't being called. This is such a huge topic, I'll focus this question on one simple example: When you press the "Edit" button (the button inside the ItemTemplate with a CommandName of "Edit", you expect the ItemTemplate to be replaced by an EditItemTemplate. This did not happen. The only way I could get it to happen was to handle the onitemediting event. protected void _listViewPublicHolidays_ItemEditing(object sender, ListViewEditEventArgs e) { _listViewPublicHolidays.EditIndex = e.NewEditIndex; _listViewPublicHolidays.DataBind(); } This is hardly a problem, but how come I had to do it at all? In the MSDN walkthroughs where I attach a ListView to a LinqDataSource, this code doesn't have to be written. Can someone who's been here before hazard a guess as to what would be different or missing in my custom datasource?

• Classic ASP and MVC side-by-side, different projects?

  I've tried asking this in a few different ways, but let's give it another shot (as I've yet to receive an answer and this is driving me nuts!) I have a very large classic ASP 3.0 application (~350K lines) that I want to start migrating to ASP.NET MVC. I'd like to keep the old ASP files in a separate project from the MVC stuff. Ideas on how to debug these? Should I just dump the files in the same folder and create two different projects ( a WAP and an MVC app) that reference the relevant files and folders required by each? This should work, but does anyone have a better idea? I need the ability to migrate small parts of the application individually as this will probably take a year or two to complete.

• Is *not* using the asp.net membership provider a bad idea?

  Is it generally a really bad idea to not use the built-in asp.net membership provider? I've always rolled my own for my asp.net apps (public facing), and really have not had any problems in doing so. It works, and seems to avoid a layer of complexity. My needs are pretty basic: once setup, the user must use email address and password to login, if they forget it, it will be emailed back to them (a new one). After setup there is little that needs to be done to each user account, but I do need to store several extra fields with each user (full name, telephone and a few other fields etc). The number of users that required login credentials are small (usually just the administrator and a few backups), and everyone else uses the site unauthenticated. What are the big advantages that I might be missing out on by skipping the asp.net membership provider functionality?

• Desktop-like UI implementations for Java web applications?

  At work we're discussing upgrading our view layer for our web application. We're currently running an old and "modified" version of FreeMarker Classic, which is a pain to work with. One of our developers suggested using a Component UI style architecture similar to desktop style environments. Essentially, this would mean that you would build custom HTML components as Java Classes that the controller would render into the Document view. This would completely take away the need to write HTML into a view layer. The Components would generate the view layer for you. For instance, the following rendered HTML: <h1>I am a title</h1> <p>I am a paragraph.</p> Would be generated by doing something like: String titleString = "I am a title"; html.elements.Heading heading = new html.elements.Heading(Heading.H1, titleString); String paraString = "I am a paragraph."; html.elements.Paragraph paragraph = new html.elements.Paragraph(paraString); PrintWriter somePrintWriter = new PrintWriter(); Document document = new Document(); document.addElement(heading); document.addElement(paragraph); document.compose(somePrintWriter); The above code is just an example, don't critique the names or style, I just wrote it for a quick demonstration of what we may be trying to accomplish. I'm trying to determine if this has been done before in Java, and if so if there are any links I can be pointed to. I've been researching it as much as I can, but haven't found any implementations that completely remove the template layer (such as JSP or JSF). Thanks!

  I have a project where I'm loading relative image Uri's from an xml file. I'm loading the image like this: if (child.Name == "photo" && child.Attributes["href"] != null && File.Exists(child.Attributes["href"].Value)) { Image image = new Image(); image.Source = new BitmapImage(new Uri(child.Attributes["href"].Value, UriKind.RelativeOrAbsolute)); images.Add(image); } Where the "child" object is an XmlNode which could looks like this <photo name="info" href="Resources\Content\test.png"/> During debug it seemd images is filled with actual images but when I want to see them in any way it shows nothing. Weird thing is when I include the images in my project it does work, I however dont want to do that since my point for using an xml file is so that it would be lost since you'd have to rebuild the program anyway after a change.

• Are there any good Javascript/Jquery thumbnail script equivalents to TimThimb (PHP)?

  For those unaware of TimThumb, it will take any image, of any size or dimension and create a thumbnail on the fly to any desired size. The beauty of it is that it really works on any dimension you feed it through a combination of either resizing the image, cropping or zoom cropping the image. Ive been searching for jscript equvalents but they either require the user to actually mask out the thumbs manually (looking for a script that automatically does it to images) or the scripts can't handle images in a different aspect ratio. Thanks for any leads on this!

  I'm trying to install .NET 3.5 on my Windows 8 box and it keeps throwing Error 0x800f0922 at me. From what I've read on answers.microsoft.com and StackOverflow I gather the easiest way to fix this is to perform a system refresh, however this will remove all software I've installed from discs. I've just moved house, so I'd rather not do that as I don't know where all the installation media actually are for a lot of my software, so if possible I'd prefer to track down where the problem is actually occurring. (Also, I have a LOT of software installed. It'd take me a long time to reinstall it all, and I unfortunately haven't got that time.) The on-demand error screen sends me to KB2734782 (can't link it as I'm <10 rep), which doesn't help much.   I want to use System.Net.Mail.SendAync in an ASP.NET MVC2 application. I see that it throws an InvalidOperationException if there is already a SendAsync call in progress. Does this mean only one SendAsync is allowed per host, or per thread? For example, if I simultaneously have 2 web users from 2 different remote hosts, can each use SendAsync at the same time?

  I have a project and it needs to access a large amount of proprietary data in ASP.NET. This was done on the Linux/PHP by loading the data in shared memory. I was wondering if trying to use Memory Mapped Files would be the way to go, or if there is a better way with better .NET support. I was thinking of using the Data Cache but not sure of all the pitfalls of size of data being saved in the Cache.
