  • LINQ query checks for null

    - by user300992
    I have a userList, some users don't have a name (null). If I run the first LINQ query, I got an error saying "object reference not set to an instance of an object" error. var temp = (from a in userList where ((a.name == "john") && (a.name != null)) select a).ToList(); However, if I switch the order by putting the checking for null in front, then it works without throwing any error: var temp = (from a in userList where ((a.name != null) && (a.name == "john")) select a).ToList(); Why is that? If that's pure C# code (not LINQ), I think both would be the same. I don't have SQL profiler, I am just curious what will be the difference when they are being translated on SQL level.

  • Using regex to extract variables from a plain-text form letter?

    - by Yaaqov
    Hi - I'm looking for a good example of using Regular Expressions in PHP to "reverse engineer" a form letter (with a known format, of course) that has been pasted into a multiline textbox and sent to a script for processing. So, for example, let's assume this is the original plain-text input (taken from a USDA press release): WASHINGTON, April 5, 2010 - North American Bison Co-Op, a New Rockford, N.D., establishment is recalling approximately 25,000 pounds of whole beef heads containing tongues that may not have had the tonsils completely removed, which is not compliant with regulations that require the removal of tonsils from cattle of all ages, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. For clarity, the fields that are variables are highlighted below: [pr_city=]WASHINGTON, [pr_date=]April 5, 2010 - [corp_name=]North American Bison Co-Op, a [corp_city=]New Rockford, [corp_state=]N.D., establishment is recalling approximately [amount=]25,000 pounds of [product=]whole beef heads containing tongues that may not have had the tonsils completely removed, which is not compliant with regulations that require [reason=]the removal of tonsils from cattle of all ages, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. How could I efficiently extract the contents of the pr_city pr_date corp_name corp_city corp_state amount product reason fields from my example? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

  • Lotus Notes - Export emails to plain text file

    - by mbeckish
    I am setting up a Lotus Notes account to accept emails from a client, and automatically save each email as a plain text file to be processed by another application. So, I'm trying to create my very first Agent in Lotus to automatically export the emails to text. Is there a standard, best practices way to do this? I've created a LotusScript Agent that pretty much works. However, there is a bug - once the Body of the memo exceeds 32K characters, it starts inserting extra CR/LF pairs. I am using Lotus Notes 7.0.3. Here is my script: Sub Initialize On Error Goto ErrorCleanup Dim session As New NotesSession Dim db As NotesDatabase Dim doc As NotesDocument Dim uniqueID As Variant Dim curView As NotesView Dim docCount As Integer Dim notesInputFolder As String Dim notesValidOutputFolder As String Dim notesErrorOutputFolder As String Dim outputFolder As String Dim fileNum As Integer Dim bodyRichText As NotesRichTextItem Dim bodyUnformattedText As String Dim subjectText As NotesItem ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' 'INPUT OUTPUT LOCATIONS outputFolder = "\\PASCRIA\CignaDFS\CUser1\Home\mikebec\MyDocuments\" notesInputFolder = "IBEmails" notesValidOutputFolder = "IBEmailsDone" notesErrorOutputFolder="IBEmailsError" ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Set db = session.CurrentDatabase Set curview = db.GetView(notesInputFolder ) docCount = curview.EntryCount Print "NUMBER OF DOCS " & docCount fileNum = 1 While (docCount > 0) 'set current doc to Set doc = curview.GetNthDocument(docCount) Set bodyRichText = doc.GetFirstItem( "Body" ) bodyUnformattedText = bodyRichText.GetUnformattedText() Set subjectText = doc.GetFirstItem("Subject") If subjectText.Text = "LotusAgentTest" Then uniqueID = Evaluate("@Unique") Open "\\PASCRIA\CignaDFS\CUser1\Home\mikebec\MyDocuments\email_" & uniqueID(0) & ".txt" For Output As fileNum Print #fileNum, "Subject:" & subjectText.Text Print #fileNum, "Date:" & Now Print #fileNum, bodyUnformattedText Close fileNum fileNum = fileNum + 1 Call doc.PutInFolder(notesValidOutputFolder) Call doc.RemoveFromFolder(notesInputFolder) End If doccount = doccount-1 Wend Exit Sub ErrorCleanup: Call sendErrorEmail(db,doc.GetItemValue("From")(0)) Call doc.PutInFolder(notesErrorOutputFolder) Call doc.RemoveFromFolder(notesInputFolder) End Sub Update Apparently the 32KB issue isn't consistent - so far, it's just one document that starts getting extra carriage returns after 32K.

  • ObjectContext.SaveChanges() fails with SQL CE

    - by David Veeneman
    I am creating a model-first Entity Framework 4 app that uses SQL CE as its data store. All is well until I call ObjectContext.SaveChanges() to save changes to the entities in the model. At that point, SaveChanges() throws a System.Data.UpdateException, with an inner exception message that reads as follows: Server-generated keys and server-generated values are not supported by SQL Server Compact. I am completely puzzled by this message. Any idea what is going on and how to fix it? Thanks. • Multiple GET arguments

    - by AJ Ravindiran
    Hello, I've been working with PHP lately, and I came across something I couldn't solve. So basically, I have a form: <form method="get"> <fieldset class="display-options" style="float: left"> Search by name or ip: <input type="text" name="key" value="" />&nbsp; <input type="submit" class="button2" value="Search" /> </fieldset> </form> The problem is, I currently already have a argument: http://example.com/logs.php?type=admin&page=1 How would i pass the given form argument with the already existing arguments? Like so: http://example.com/logs.php?type=admin&page=1&key=name Thanks in advance, AJ.

  • Sending multipart response for downloads in Zend Framework

    - by takeshin
    I'm sending files in action helper for downloads (in parts if needed) like this: ... $response->sendHeaders(); $chunksize = 1 * (1024 * 1024); $bytesSent = 0; if ($httpRange) { fseek($file, $range); } while(!feof($file) && (!connection_aborted() && ($bytesSent < $newLength)) ) { $buffer = fread($file, $chunksize); // $response->appendBody($buffer); // this would be better print($buffer); flush(); $bytesSent += strlen($buffer); } fclose($file); I suspect that better way would be to make use of $response object instead of print. Which is the recommended way to send big response objects using Zend Framework?

  • Perl: implementing a dispatch table in an OO module?

    - by Iain
    I want to put some subs that are within an OO package into an array - also within the package - to use as a dispatch table. Something like this package Blah::Blah; use fields 'tests'; sub new { my($class )= @_; my $self = fields::new($class); $self->{'tests'} = [ $self->_sub1 ,$self->_sub2 ]; return $self; } _sub1 { ... }; _sub2 { ... }; I'm not entirely sure on the syntax for this? $self->{'tests'} = [ $self->_sub1 ,$self->_sub2 ]; or $self->{'tests'} = [ \&{$self->_sub1} ,\&{$self->_sub2} ]; or $self->{'tests'} = [ \&{_sub1} ,\&{_sub2} ]; I don't seem to be able to get this to work within an OO package, whereas it's quite straightforward in a procedural fashion, and I haven't found any examples for OO. Any help is much appreciated, Iain

Anyone got any idea whats causing this? Best regards, Roy

  • FilePageSetupHeader in MS Project VBA project: Display image dynamically

    - by Anne Schuessler
    I want to display an image when printing a page from MS Page using the FilePageSetupHeader. It all works fine if I pass in the parameter for the Text property as a string as such FilePageSetupHeader Alignment:=pjRight, Text:="&P""C:\filepath\image.gif""" However, I'd prefer to be able to pass the filepath to the image to display as a variable. Somehow I can't get it right. So if I try something like the following: vImagePath = """&P""""" & prjFilePath & "\image.gif"""""" FilePageSetupHeader Alignment:=pjRight, Text:=vImagePath it just displays the path as a string. I'm pretty sure it boils down to something simple like escaping the quotes in the correct way, but I've been playing around with it for a while now and I can't seem to get it right. Any idea how this works?

Obviously I'm being very stupid - what am I doing wrong? Cheers, mAtt

System.IO.FileLoadException: Could not load file or assembly 'file://\tsclient\d\Users\me\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\SilverlightApplication2\SilverlightApplication2\obj\Debug\SilverlightApplication2.dll' or one of its dependencies. Anyone know how to fix it?

  • C++ scoping error

    - by Pat Murray
    I have the following code: #include "Student.h" #include "SortedList.h" using namespace std; int main() { // points to the sorted list object SortedList *list = new SortedList; //This is line 17 // array to hold 100 student objects Student create[100]; int num = 100000; // holds different ID numbers // fills an array with 100 students of various ID numbers for (Student &x : create) { x = new Student(num); num += 100; } // insert all students into the sorted list for (Student &x : create) list->insert(&x); delete list; return 0; } And I keep getting the compile time error: main.cpp: In function ‘int main()’: main.cpp:17: error: ‘SortedList’ was not declared in this scope main.cpp:17: error: ‘list’ was not declared in this scope main.cpp:17: error: expected type-specifier before ‘SortedList’ main.cpp:17: error: expected `;' before ‘SortedList’ main.cpp:20: error: ‘Student’ was not declared in this scope main.cpp:20: error: expected primary-expression before ‘]’ token main.cpp:20: error: expected `;' before ‘create’ main.cpp:25: error: expected `;' before ‘x’ main.cpp:31: error: expected primary-expression before ‘for’ main.cpp:31: error: expected `;' before ‘for’ main.cpp:31: error: expected primary-expression before ‘for’ main.cpp:31: error: expected `)' before ‘for’ main.cpp:31: error: expected `;' before ‘x’ main.cpp:34: error: type ‘<type error>’ argument given to ‘delete’, expected pointer main.cpp:35: error: expected primary-expression before ‘return’ main.cpp:35: error: expected `)' before ‘return’ My Student.cpp and SortedList.cpp files compile just fine. They both also include .h files. I just do not understand why I get an error on that line. It seems to be a small issue though. Any insight would be appreciated. • mod rewrite and query strings

    - by all-R
    Hi all, I'm trying to rewrite some query strings I have in my URL like this : foo.com/index.php?page=admin&view=news&action=edit&id=3 to foo.com/admin/news/edit/3 But can't figure it out... it should also works if I only have the 'page' parameters for example, since I don't always have these 4 parameters (page,view,action,id) in my urls, of course. any suggestions?

  • Passing XML markers to Google Map

    - by djmadscribbler
    I've been creating a V3 Google map based on this example from Mike Williams http://www.geocodezip.com/v3_MW_example_map3.html I've run into a bit of a problem though. If I have no parameters in my URL then I get the error "id is undefined idmarkers [id.toLowerCase()] = marker;" in Firebug and only one marker will show up. If I have a parameter (?id=105 for example) then all the sidebar links say 105 (or whatever the parameter in the URL was) instead of their respective label as listed in the XML file and a random infowindow will be opened instead of the window for the id in the URL. Here is my javascript: var map = null; var lastmarker = null; // ========== Read paramaters that have been passed in ========== // Before we go looking for the passed parameters, set some defaults // in case there are no parameters var id; var index = -1; // these set the initial center, zoom and maptype for the map // if it is not specified in the query string var lat = 42.194741; var lng = -121.700301; var zoom = 18; var maptype = google.maps.MapTypeId.HYBRID; function MapTypeId2UrlValue(maptype) { var urlValue = 'm'; switch (maptype) { case google.maps.MapTypeId.HYBRID: urlValue = 'h'; break; case google.maps.MapTypeId.SATELLITE: urlValue = 'k'; break; case google.maps.MapTypeId.TERRAIN: urlValue = 't'; break; default: case google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP: urlValue = 'm'; break; } return urlValue; } // If there are any parameters at eh end of the URL, they will be in location.search // looking something like "?marker=3" // skip the first character, we are not interested in the "?" var query = location.search.substring(1); // split the rest at each "&" character to give a list of "argname=value" pairs var pairs = query.split("&"); for (var i = 0; i < pairs.length; i++) { // break each pair at the first "=" to obtain the argname and value var pos = pairs[i].indexOf("="); var argname = pairs[i].substring(0, pos).toLowerCase(); var value = pairs[i].substring(pos + 1).toLowerCase(); // process each possible argname - use unescape() if theres any chance of spaces if (argname == "id") { id = unescape(value); } if (argname == "marker") { index = parseFloat(value); } if (argname == "lat") { lat = parseFloat(value); } if (argname == "lng") { lng = parseFloat(value); } if (argname == "zoom") { zoom = parseInt(value); } if (argname == "type") { // from the v3 documentation 8/24/2010 // HYBRID This map type displays a transparent layer of major streets on satellite images. // ROADMAP This map type displays a normal street map. // SATELLITE This map type displays satellite images. // TERRAIN This map type displays maps with physical features such as terrain and vegetation. if (value == "m") { maptype = google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP; • CryptoExcercise Encryption/Decryption Problem

    - by venkat
    I am using apples "cryptoexcercise" (Security.Framework) in my application to encrypt and decrypt a data of numeric value. When I give the input 950,128 the values got encrypted, but it is not getting decrypted and exists with the encrypted value only. This happens only with the mentioned numeric values. Could you please check this issue and give the solution to solve this problem? here is my code (void)testAsymmetricEncryptionAndDecryption { uint8_t *plainBuffer; uint8_t *cipherBuffer; uint8_t *decryptedBuffer; const char inputString[] = "950"; int len = strlen(inputString); if (len > BUFFER_SIZE) len = BUFFER_SIZE-1; plainBuffer = (uint8_t *)calloc(BUFFER_SIZE, sizeof(uint8_t)); cipherBuffer = (uint8_t *)calloc(CIPHER_BUFFER_SIZE, sizeof(uint8_t)); decryptedBuffer = (uint8_t *)calloc(BUFFER_SIZE, sizeof(uint8_t)); strncpy( (char *)plainBuffer, inputString, len); NSLog(@"plain text : %s", plainBuffer); [self encryptWithPublicKey:(UInt8 *)plainBuffer cipherBuffer:cipherBuffer]; NSLog(@"encrypted data: %s", cipherBuffer); [self decryptWithPrivateKey:cipherBuffer plainBuffer:decryptedBuffer]; NSLog(@"decrypted data: %s", decryptedBuffer); free(plainBuffer); free(cipherBuffer); free(decryptedBuffer); } (void)encryptWithPublicKey:(uint8_t *)plainBuffer cipherBuffer:(uint8_t *)cipherBuffer { OSStatus status = noErr; size_t plainBufferSize = strlen((char *)plainBuffer); size_t cipherBufferSize = CIPHER_BUFFER_SIZE; NSLog(@"SecKeyGetBlockSize() public = %d", SecKeyGetBlockSize([self getPublicKeyRef])); // Error handling // Encrypt using the public. status = SecKeyEncrypt([self getPublicKeyRef], PADDING, plainBuffer, plainBufferSize, &cipherBuffer[0], &cipherBufferSize ); NSLog(@"encryption result code: %d (size: %d)", status, cipherBufferSize); NSLog(@"encrypted text: %s", cipherBuffer); } (void)decryptWithPrivateKey:(uint8_t *)cipherBuffer plainBuffer:(uint8_t *)plainBuffer { OSStatus status = noErr; size_t cipherBufferSize = strlen((char *)cipherBuffer); NSLog(@"decryptWithPrivateKey: length of buffer: %d", BUFFER_SIZE); NSLog(@"decryptWithPrivateKey: length of input: %d", cipherBufferSize); // DECRYPTION size_t plainBufferSize = BUFFER_SIZE; // Error handling status = SecKeyDecrypt([self getPrivateKeyRef], PADDING, &cipherBuffer[0], cipherBufferSize, &plainBuffer[0], &plainBufferSize ); NSLog(@"decryption result code: %d (size: %d)", status, plainBufferSize); NSLog(@"FINAL decrypted text: %s", plainBuffer); } (SecKeyRef)getPublicKeyRef { OSStatus sanityCheck = noErr; SecKeyRef publicKeyReference = NULL; if (publicKeyRef == NULL) { NSMutableDictionary *queryPublicKey = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] init]; // Set the public key query dictionary.
