• PreparedStatement and setTimestamp in oracle jdbc

  Hi everyone, I am using PreparedStatement with Timestamp in where clause: PreparedStatement s=c.prepareStatement("select utctimestamp from t where utctimestamp>=? and utctimestamp<?"); s.setTimestamp(1, new Timestamp(1273017600000L)); //2010-05-05 00:00 GMT s.setTimestamp(2, new Timestamp(1273104000000L)); //2010-05-06 00:00 GMT The result I get is different, when I have different time zones on the client computer. Is this a bug in Oracle jdbc? or correct behavior? The parameter is Timestamp, and I expected that no time conversions will be done on the way. The database column type is DATE, but I also checked it with TIMESTAMP column type with the same results. Is there a way to achieve correct result? I cannot change default timezone in the the whole application to UTC. Thanks for your help

  Currently, I am doing a search function. Lets say in my database, I have this data: Keyword1 Keyword2 Keyword3 Keysomething Key and the user entered: "Key" as the keyword to search. This is my current query: Q1: SELECT * FROM data WHERE (data_string LIKE '$key%' OR data_string LIKE '%$key%' OR data_string LIKE '%$key') Basically, I have 2 questions: How do I sort by (order by) similarity. From above example, I should have "Key" as my first result. My current result is: Keyword1, Keyword2, Keyword3, Keysomething and Key My SQL query only search by the "data_string" column, what if I want to seach others column? Do I need to do something like this: Q2: SELECT * FROM data WHERE (data_string LIKE '$key%' OR data_string LIKE '%$key%' OR data_string LIKE '%$key') OR (data_other LIKE '$key%' OR data_other LIKE '%$key%' OR data_other LIKE '%$key') ...   I have two table one is index and another is the price structure as under table : index : column : trandate ,indexcode Table : price : Column: trandate,symbol,price i want to know the missing price. I issue the query select i.trandate,i.indexcode,p.trandate,p.price from index i left join price p on i.trandate = p.trandate where p.symbol='ABC' and indexcode="New" the above query does not show the null date even though various price in missing in price table. Only reason i understand is that the index table does not have the symbol field that's why...but as per theory if you want to show all the rows of one table and only the match value of another table then use the left or right join query...please anybody can help

• Java long task - Did it stop writing to file?

  I am writing a lot of data to a file, and while keeping my eye on the file it eventually stopped growing in size. Essentially my task is getting information from a database, and printing out all non-unique values in column A. Since there are many rows to the database table, and the database table is across my network, this is taking days to complete. Thus I'm concerned that since the file isn't growing, that it isn't actually writing to the file anymore. Which is odd, I have no "catch"'s in my code, so if there was a problem writing to file, wouldn't it have thrown an error?! Should I let the task complete (estimate 2-3 days from today), or is there something else that I don't know going on here making my application not write to the file?! my algorithm goes something like this Declare file Create new file Open file for writing get database connection get resultset from database for each row in the resultset - write column "A" to file - if row# % 100000 then write to screen "completed " + row# + " rows" when no more rows exist close file write to screen - "completed"

• I have to do two seemingly mutually exclusive things on leaving an asp:textbox. Please help me get

  This project has gone from being a simple '99 Ford F-150 to the Homer. I've got controls with a gridview with textboxes for data entry. All the user controls on the pages are in AJAX updatepanels. User types in a database column or budget entity or some other financial thing they want to include in the report. The textboxes in the gridview have autopostback = true set. overly long background info When the user leaves the textbox, during the postback (triggered by onTextChanged) I do some validation back on the server on their entry - regexs, do they have rights to that column, is that column locked, etc. If it fails, I put a error message next to the textbox. If it passes, I wipe out any title or error that used to be next to the code. Focus is getting lost from the postback if they're tabbing out of the box, rather than going to the next textbox in the gridview. So to fix that I need, if their leaving the tb via the tab key, to also figure out what textbox or gridviewrow they're on, if they're not on the last row, and after the validation and labeling, put the focus on the textbox in the next row. I can't figure out how, in ontextchanged, to find what caused me to leave the textbox, so I'm thinking use javascript onkeyup to test the key pressed and then find the next box etc, but the ontextchanged fires first and then the js never does, and also, since the control is all AJAXed, the javascript can't find the textboxes because when you enter the page everything is collapsed (the requirements people loooove to collapse and expand things), and so when it's expanded, all the 'new' textboxes are up in the viewstate stuff in the page source, and not down where javascript can see them. The questions So I'm wondering if I can have an onblur in the javascript that can trigger a postback where I can do my validation and such, and either 1) include the keypressed or pick it out of sender in the event or 2) followup the onblur with onkeyup and somehow figure out what textbox is next on the grid and throw focus there. Or, is there another .NET based approach that could work for this? In terms of tearing the whole thing down and starting from scratch, I couldn't sell that to the bosses, I'm past the point of no return as far as that goes.

If all values in a column is 0 or null then query should ignore to show that column(as shown in result) Note: if we run a query as select * from table1 it shows all columns. While I don't wants a query like select id,mon,tue,wed from table1 because no. of showing columns may change. Please reply to me. Thank you....

  I would like to set a default value in a has_many through association. Lets say I have three models: People Friends Dogs A person can request that a dog becomes their friend. So a person would create an association where friends has an active column = false. User has_many :friends has_many :dogs, :through => :friends Now when I assign a dog to a user User.find(1).dogs << dog The friends table has null in the active column. My friends model is defined as Friend def initialize(args = {}) super(args) active = false end yet this does not work because the friend object is never created. Do I have to manually create one?

Note: I have tried BeforeSortChanged Event but i had 2 problems: I could not get the previous column sort indicator to find out when should i disable sorting.   I have this JTable on my Swing app with the autoCreateRowSorter enabled. My table only has 3 columns, two strings and one int, it works well for all of them when I click the column headers. However, I'm looking for way to do it programatically. I wanted to set the "initial state" for this table. With the Windows look and feel, the column header (when sorted) has a little arrow showing the sort order. But at startup that doesn't show, I have to do one initial click. How can I do that by code?

• What is the best way to store categorical references in SQL tables?

  I'm wanting to store a wide array of categorical data in MySQL database tables. Let's say that for instance I want to to information on "widgets" and want to categorize attributes in certain ways, i.e. shape category. For instance, the widgets could be classified as: round, square, triangular, spherical, etc. Should these categories be stored within a table to reference them best from an application? Another possibility, I would imagine, would be to add a column to widgets that contained a shape column that contained a tiny int. That way my application could search shapes by that and then use a coordinating enum type that would map the shape int meanings. Which would be best? Or is there another solution that I'm not thinking of yet?

What I want to copy the Tags in table B to corresponding place of table A. the mapping is based on Id. My sql query is: update A INNER JOIN B set A.Tags = B.Tags where A.Id = B.Id There are about 2,000,000 rows in table A, and 50,000 rows in table B. The update seems very slow.... • A few problems with Delphi involving Mail Merge, SQL + Databases.

  My first problem is with mail merge. I have created a a Data File and a table, yet I am not able to fill my table with information from my Data File. The << just seems to be inserted after wherever the cursor is on the page, which is not where the table is. All that is entered into the actual table is a '59'. Therefore I think I either need to to change the code or be able to move the cursor. This only happens on one unit and it happens when I add a column with any name anywhere in the table. I know that is vague but I can't seem to narrow down the problem any further than that.   Configuration SQL 2005 (Server A) replicates to SQL 2008(Server B) which replicates to SQL 2008(Server C). I recently added a column (to Server A) to a replicated table via script & the DDL change replicated to Server B with out a problem. When the DDL change replicated to Server C, I received the error below.   Hello Sorry if this is basic but I cannot find the solution anywhere. I have an java Object ‘Person’ with 3 properties firstname,lastname and username. I have an Oracle Store procedure returning a Resultset with the 3 column. All works fine for that. Now I have another StoreProcedure that will only return firstname and lastname but not username. I get the following error : « could not read column value from result set username. » Hibernate tries to fetch the username property from the resultset. If I remove the property username, then it works. Do I have to Create a Special Pojo for Each type of resultset or can I tell Hibernate what to map for each result set? Please help.

• SQL Server 2008 EF 4 - limiting database records returned using permissions?

  In our database all tables are linked back to a single table. This table has a bit column to limit whether the record is displayed. Currently the records are filtered on the code side of the website. Is there any way to set up permission so that userA would never see any record in the database where that common bit column was set to true? We are using SQL Server 2008. Alternatively we are also using entity framework 4.0 in .net 4 (in c#) if you have any ideas how it might be accomplished there? Thanks for your feedback.

  supposing i have a data frame in R that has names of students in one column and their marks in another column. these marks range from 20 to 100. > mydata id name marks gender 1 a1 56 female 2 a2 37 male i want to divide the student into groups, based on the criteria of obtained marks, so that difference between marks in each group should be more than 10. i tried to use the function table, which gives the number of students in each range from say 20-30, 30-40, but i want it to pick those students that have marks in a given range and put all their information together in a group. any help is appreciated.

• Significance of date 02/31/2157?

  I work in a large scale IT support environment. Twice now we have seen an invalid date of 02/31/2157 being inserted in an Oracle DATE column. So far I have not been able to reproduce this problem, but it appears to be happening occasionally when a user attempts to save '00/00/0000' into the column. I believe the value is originating from a PowerBuilder DataWindow update. The application uses myriad libraries for all sorts of technologies, so this question may be a bit vague, but... Has anyone seen the date 02/31/2157 in some established library that Oracle could be defaulting to when some other invalid date is entered? Perhaps an end-of-time concept analogous to the beginning-of-time date of 1/1/1970?

• JQGrid: Dynamically set a cell to uneditable based on content

  I'm having some issues getting some cells (with cellEdit: true) to be non-editable even though the column is set to editable. I've tried many ways, like beforeEditCell, formatters, etc. None seem to work. The closest I've got is by setting a formatter to the column that I'd like to be editable and then using setCell to set the 'not-editable-cell' class (snippet below). The first time you click the cell, it unfortunately goes into edit mode, but if you click elsewhere and try to re-edit the cell, it's successfully uneditable. I've also tried using the same snipped but inside of beforeEditCell, it successfully stops the cell from being edited but in turn 'freezes' the grid. You can no longer select any other cell. function noEditFormatter(cellValue, options, rowObject) { if (cellValue == 'test') jQuery("#grid").jqGrid('setCell', options.rowId, 'ColName', '', 'not-editable-cell'); return cellValue; } Any help would be much appreciated.

I need a way that I can move data in my DB from this SQL Server to another one (another PC which has the same DB) move data from one PC to another one - There is one problem, the ID column, because each DB in my 2 PCs has data in it so this column counts from 1,2,3,....... ( data will be conflict with other data in my DB ) Is there any way to solve my problem and move data successfully?
