• Git Specify Remote Source Durring Push

  I have a local git repository a "central" repo at github. I'm working on a part of a project, while a friend is working on a related piece that is its entirely seperate repo, is it possible for me to simply link directly to my friends repo? For example, the app is called widgets. I have all my code in widgets/app/mycode and my friend is writing code that goes into widgets/plugins/awesome/hiscode. I want to be able to always have http://github.com/mycode/widgets/plugins/hiscode to be a direct link or clone to http://github.com/hiscode/awesome ? It could be possible i'm missing something basic in my question or knowledge of git, if so please ask, and i'll be happy to try to fill in the blanks.

• Cmake suddenly can't find my source files anymore...

  To make a long story short: To add insult to injury, CMake actually ran fine several times. I was wrestling with a compiler error when CMake suddenly didn't feel like working anymore. • IP Tunneling for Spotify? [closed]

  I was in the UK and enjoyed Spotify relentlessly. Now I've moved back to Greece and I can't even pay for the darn thing. So my idea was this- I have a server in France and it has a fail-over IP in the UK. So I installed a proxy server on it and made it listen to the UK IP. So far so good. Then, I played Spotify for a while through the proxy server just fine, and it thought I was in the UK. But now... it gives me an error message that I'm in another country than the one on my profile (UK). I don't really understand why - maybe they also geolocate the IP address of the client, not just the proxy server? Either way, I'm kinda stuck - is there a way to tunnel Spotify's network traffic through my server transparently? Maybe a VPN or something similar? Thanks

  I am looking for a Linux compiler for C/C++ code that supports AMDs new "Bulldozer" architecture and produces efficient binaries for the Interlagos series Opterons. This seems to be a bit difficult because of the peculiarities of the Bulldozer microarchitecture. While AMD has a whitepaper with some details, I would like to see some independent analyses. The relevant paper from HeCToR focuses mostly on job placement and scheduling, which is an area we already investigate. So, who can recommend a good compiler comparison for Bulldozers running Linux? Does anyone have well-described benchmarks?

  Where does the object "MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP.4.0" come from? Which install package? I'm attempting to do the following: Set oXMLHTTP = CreateObject("MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP.4.0") This attempt fails on my development machine (no object is returned) but it is successful on my collage's development machine. Obviously he has something installed that I don't or vice versa but where does this object, dll, etc come from? What would I need to install to get this call to work. For the record, changing the object to a different version isn't an option because code that this depends on was tested for several days against this specific version. We'd have to go back and test again... To expand on this question, how can I tell which version of MS XML is currently installed?

• Dell EqualLogic vs. EMC VNXe [closed]

  We've been looking into SMB SANs and based on the competitive pricing I've been getting we're really liking these two array's. There are some pro's to both solutions, but I've unable to really decide which to choose. The EMC offers better expandability since you can buy an additional shelf (roughly $1200) and can add drives then to the array. However, the Dell unit is still very nice. Can anyone comment on their experiences with the two and thoughts on this? Also, to get the VMware Storage API support you need VMware Enterprise. How much additional performance does this provide? It's roughly $15k more than the Essentials Plus bundle we're looking at (this is a small environment [3 Hosts 1 Array].

  Prelude: I don't want to use rvm. I installed ruby 2 with the following configuration on Mac OS X 10.8.5 ./configure --prefix=/usr/local \ --enable-pthread \ --with-readline-dir=/usr/local \ --enable-shared It is installed, version is printed correctly ... Now, when invoking gem install jekyll I get the following error: ERROR: Loading command: install (LoadError) cannot load such file -- openssl ERROR: While executing gem ... (NoMethodError) undefined method `invoke_with_build_args' for nil:NilClass I installed openssl into /usr/local but i'm really banging my head against the wall on how installing gems. It can't be that big of a deal right?

By investigating it thru http://www.just-ping.com/ it seems, that from many places the ping is very high, and during quick investigation I found that they use GeoIP to resolve addresses based on WHOIS, which is not accurate and because of that from many places the ping is above 300ms (for example, if ISP is in balgladore and request is routed to bangladore even if it's 300ms, for period of 1 month), while by just using Amazon Web Services and Route 53 Anycast DNS servers and only 4 EC2 instances it seems that for example India is always below 100ms, while using Akamai it goes above 300ms in some cases, and this is because Route 53 is using BGP. By quickly checking the Akamai, it seems that they are not getting feedback from the traffic - the high ping stays constant even if I keep downloading large files and videos, which is opposite to what they say on their website. They state, that they optimize the performance by taking feedback from the requests, while it seems they just use GeoIP with per City resolution (which are mostly big cities). Because of this, AWS with Route 53 / Anycast DNS seems to be much more reliable, as well EdgeCast which is using BGP, but I dont know how much does it cost to deploy static website. Actually, I dont know if EdgeCast is not a lie, because from isolated places there are many errors - so their performance is at the cost of quality of delivery, because of BGP switching the routes during transfer of large files. So I was wondering, what is really Akamai good for, because they dont seem to pose any strength in any field in what I do understand now, except they offer some software based WAF on their website, but what I really care about is the core distribiution, so the question is? Is really Akamai good for Videos? For static websites? ??? I found so far AWS most usable with most consistent ping and stable transfers.

  Hi, Is it possible to run an email server on my home box using dynamic dns? The scenario is, I want to auto cc all incoming and outgoing emails from my one account to another, from some server side config instead of configuring email clients for rules. I have tried Google Apps Mail but it doesn't allow auto cc of outgoing emails. After having read tons of blogs, forum messages etc (hope I have been reading the correct info :) ) the only option to achieve what I am needing is to setup my own mail server, but the cost of getting a static IP doesn't fit my budget. • Twitter 2 for Android crash every time I try uploading multi photos [closed]

  Hello, I'm using the new Twitter 2 on Android 2.1. Whenever I hit the button which enables me to upload multiple photos in a single tweet, I always get the error "The application Camera (process com.sonyericsson.camera) has stopped unexpectidly. Please try again". However, uploading a single photo using the camera button in Twitter have no problem, it works. My phone is Sony Ericsson x10 mini pro. • Regarding the battery of a new laptop [closed]

  Hi. So, long story short, some days ago I pusblished an iPhone game, I think the game wasnt that bad tbh, and still I got only 10 sells at $0.99. Are they any publishers, sponsors, or distributors to make your game "visible" on the app store market?, or the only thing you need is to have an amazing game and thats all? Somehow I think that even if you have an awesome game if you dont do that "marketing magic" correctly you will not exist in the store.
