  • Accessing jQuery objects in the module pattern

    - by Stewart
    Hello, Really getting in to javascript and looking around at some patterns. One I have come accross is the module pattern. Its seems like a nice way to think of chucks of functionality so I went ahead and tried to implement it with jQuery. I ran in to a snag though. Consider the following code <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> <title>index</title> <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8" src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.4/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"> $(document).ready(function(){ var TestClass2 = (function(){ var someDiv; return { thisTest: function () { someDiv = document.createElement("div"); $(someDiv).append("#index"); $(someDiv).html("hello"); $(someDiv).addClass("test_class"); } } })(); TestClass2.thisTest(); }); </script> </head> <body id="index" onload=""> <div id="name"> this is content </div> </body> </html> The above code alerts the html content of the div and then adds a class. These both use jQuery methods. The problem is that the .html() method works fine however i can not add the class. No errors result and the class does not get added. What is happening here? Why is the class not getting added to the div?

  • Updating Data through Objects

    - by Chacha102
    So, lets say I have a record: $record = new Record(); and lets say I assign some data to that record: $record->setName("SomeBobJoePerson"); How do I get that into the database. Do I..... A) Have the module do it. class Record{ public function __construct(DatabaseConnection $database) { $this->database = $database; } public function setName($name) { $this->database->query("query stuff here"); $this->name = $name; } } B) Run through the modules at the end of the script class Record{ private $changed = false; public function __construct(array $data=array()) { $this->data = $data; } public function setName($name) { $this->data['name'] = $name; $this->changed = true; } public function isChanged() { return $this->changed; } public function toArray() { return $this->array; } } class Updater { public function update(array $records) { foreach($records as $record) { if($record->isChanged()) { $this->updateRecord($record->toArray()); } } } public function updateRecord(){ // updates stuff } }

  • frequency of objects in an array using Ruby

    - by eastafri
    If i had a list of balls each of which has a color property. how can i cleanly get the list of balls with the most frequent color. [m1,m2,m3,m4] say, m1.color = blue m2.color = blue m3.color = red m4.color = blue [m1,m2,m4] is the list of balls with the most frequent color My Approach is to do: [m1,m2,m3,m4].group_by{|ball| ball.color}.each do |samecolor| my_items = samecolor.count end where count is defined as class Array def count k =Hash.new(0) self.each{|x|k[x]+=1} k end end my_items will be a hash of frequencies foreach same color group. My implementation could be buggy and i feel there must be a better and more smarter way. any ideas please?

  • JavaScript function, which reads connections between objects

    - by Nikita Sumeiko
    I have a JavaScript literal: var members = { "mother": { "name" : "Mary", "age" : "48", "connection": { "brother" : "sun" } }, "father": { "name" : "Bill", "age" : "50" }, "brother": { "name" : "Alex", "age" : "28" } } Than I have a function, which should read connections from the literal above. It looks like this: function findRelations(members){ var wires = new Array(); var count = 0; for (n = 0; n < members.length; n++){ alert(members.length); // this alert is undefined if (members[n].connection){ for (i = 0; i < members[n].connection[0].length; i++){ var mw = new Array(); var destination = 0; for (m = 0; m < members.length; m ++){ if (members[m] == members[n].connection[0]){ destination = m; mw = [n, destination]; wires [count] = mw; count++; } } } } } return wires; } However, when I run this function, I get nothing. And the first alert, which is placed inside the function shows 'undefined' at all. findRelations(members); alert("Found " + wires.length + " connections"); I guess that's because of JavaScript literal. Could you suggest how to change a function or perhaps to change litteral to JSON array to get it work?! And at the end to get 'm' and 'n' values as numbers.

  • Objects do not retain the frame that I give then when using CGAffineTransforms with Core Animation

    - by user170030
    Hi, I'm making a game where when a card is touched, it grows so that it is focused, and when you 'let go', it goes back to its original size and place. This seems pretty standard, however, when I add cards and move the hand around to accommodate different numbers of cards, touching the card makes it go to its original place, and not to the new place. This has been stumping me for a while now Any hints would be much appreciated. Thanks !

  • Rotation of two objects in relation

    - by DMan
    I've got a two sprites- I'll say I have a swing and a person. The swing 'swings' back and forth as I passed a rotation variable into spriteBatch.Draw(). Now I want my person to 'sit' on the swing, and am not sure of how to approach it. Since I want a relative to the swing sprite, I tried personPos=swingPos, but that obviously doesn't work as the swing's position is always the same (it's anchored to a point and swings from there). How would I make the person sprite follow the swinging part of the swing sprite, if that makes any sense?

  • Eclipselink: Create objects from JOIN query

    - by Raven
    Hi, I have a SQL query SELECT * FROM Thing AS a JOIN Thing_Property AS b ON a.id=b.Thing_ID JOIN Property AS c ON b.properties_ID = c.id JOIN Item AS d ON c.item_ID = d.id ORDER BY a.name, d.name and I Eclipselink to create my object model with it. Here is the model: @SuppressWarnings("serial") @Entity public class Thing implements Serializable { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.TABLE) private int id; private String name; @OneToMany(cascade=CascadeType.ALL) @PrivateOwned private List<Property> properties = new ArrayList<Property>(); ... // getter and setter following here } public class Property implements Serializable { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.TABLE) private int id; @OneToOne private Item item; private String value; ... // getter and setter following here } public class Item implements Serializable { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.TABLE) private int id; private String name; .... // getter and setter following here } // Code end but I can not figure out, how to make Eclipselink create the model from that query. Can you help?

  • Calculating 2D angles for 3D objects in perspective

    - by Will
    Imagine a photo, with the face of a building marked out. Its given that the face of the building is a rectangle, with 90 degree corners. However, because its a photo, perspective will be involved and the parallel edges of the face will converge on the horizon. With such a rectangle, is it possible to calculate the angle in 2D of the edges of a face that is 90 degrees to it? In the image below, the blue is the face marked on the photo, and I'm wondering how to calculate the 2D vector of the red lines of the other face:

  • Getting random objects from an array, and if the objects are the same, get a new object.

    - by XcodeDev
    Hi, I have made a jokes application, where the user generates a joke and the joke will display in a UILabel. However I am trying to randomise the jokes show, but I do not want to show the same joke twice. Please could you tell me how I could do this. I am using the code below to try and do that, but it seems that it is not working. - (IBAction)generateNewJoke { if (i < [jokeArray count]) { i++; [userDefaults setInteger:[userDefaults integerForKey:kNewIndex] forKey:kOldIndex]; int oldnumber = [userDefaults integerForKey:kOldIndex]; int newnumber = [userDefaults integerForKey:kNewIndex]; [answerLabel setText:@""]; [userDefaults setInteger:i forKey:kNewIndex]; if (oldnumber == newnumber) { NSLog(@"they are the same"); [userDefaults setInteger:arc4random()%[jokeArray count] forKey:kNewIndex]; } [jokeLabel setText:[jokeArray objectAtIndex:[userDefaults integerForKey:kNewIndex]]]; } }

  • Objects in interface

    - by Peter Kowalchuk
    I created my own object, PKSurvey. In the interface of the View Controller I can define a pointer to it, then in a method I can alloc it and have an instance. How do I keep the instance beyond the method where it was allocated? I assign values in one method and want to be able to use those values in other methods. Should I allocate it in the viewDidLoad method or should I do it somewhere else? @interface DIrectionalDrillerViewController : UIViewController { PKSurvey *Survey=[PKSurvey new]; ---------------- - (void)viewDidLoad { [Survey new];

  • Modifying association arrays on cloned ActiveRecord objects

    - by Craig Walker
    I have an ActiveRecord model class Foo that has_many Bar. I want to clone a Foo (to get duplicates of most of its attributes) and then modify its Bar instances. This is a problem because cloned ActiveRecord instances share the same associated array; changes to one affect the other. f1 = Foo.new b = Bar.new f1.bars << b f2 = f1.clone f2.bars.includes? b # true f1.bars.clear f2.bars.includes? b # now false The real problem is that I can't detach the bars arrays from either Foo: f1.bars << b f2.bars.includes? b # true f2.bars = [] f2.bars.includes? b # now false f1.bars.includes? b # now also false If I could do that, then I could replace the Bars as I wanted to. However, any change to one Foo seems to affect the other.

  • Optimizing sorting container of objects with heap-allocated buffers - how to avoid hard-copying buff

    - by Kache4
    I was making sure I knew how to do the op= and copy constructor correctly in order to sort() properly, so I wrote up a test case. After getting it to work, I realized that the op= was hard-copying all the data_. I figure if I wanted to sort a container with this structure (its elements have heap allocated char buffer arrays), it'd be faster to just swap the pointers around. Is there a way to do that? Would I have to write my own sort/swap function? #include <deque> //#include <string> //#include <utility> //#include <cstdlib> #include <cstring> #include <iostream> //#include <algorithm> // I use sort(), so why does this still compile when commented out? #include <boost/filesystem.hpp> #include <boost/foreach.hpp> using namespace std; namespace fs = boost::filesystem; class Page { public: // constructor Page(const char* path, const char* data, int size) : path_(fs::path(path)), size_(size), data_(new char[size]) { // cout << "Creating Page..." << endl; strncpy(data_, data, size); // cout << "done creating Page..." << endl; } // copy constructor Page(const Page& other) : path_(fs::path(other.path())), size_(other.size()), data_(new char[other.size()]) { // cout << "Copying Page..." << endl; strncpy(data_, other.data(), size_); // cout << "done copying Page..." << endl; } // destructor ~Page() { delete[] data_; } // accessors const fs::path& path() const { return path_; } const char* data() const { return data_; } int size() const { return size_; } // operators Page& operator = (const Page& other) { if (this == &other) return *this; char* newImage = new char[other.size()]; strncpy(newImage, other.data(), other.size()); delete[] data_; data_ = newImage; path_ = fs::path(other.path()); size_ = other.size(); return *this; } bool operator < (const Page& other) const { return path_ < other.path(); } private: fs::path path_; int size_; char* data_; }; class Book { public: Book(const char* path) : path_(fs::path(path)) { cout << "Creating Book..." << endl; cout << "pushing back #1" << endl; pages_.push_back(Page("image1.jpg", "firstImageData", 14)); cout << "pushing back #3" << endl; pages_.push_back(Page("image3.jpg", "thirdImageData", 14)); cout << "pushing back #2" << endl; pages_.push_back(Page("image2.jpg", "secondImageData", 15)); cout << "testing operator <" << endl; cout << pages_[0].path().string() << (pages_[0] < pages_[1]?   • Detect if objects are loaded [Javascript]

    - by Samuel
    I was wondering, is there a way to detect if a certain image / div is loaded? For example when i am loading two heavy images and showing a loading sign at the two places the images will later occupy, is there a way to already display the first image when it's loaded while still loading the second one?
