• Java - Could not find the main class?

  I'm having a hard-time with a Java error. I'm getting this when double-clicking on my compiled project Jar file in order to run it: Could not find the main class: testPackage.testFrame. Program will exit. However, my main class is cleary defined in the project properties. Furthermore, everything works fine when I run the project directly from NetBeans. I'm using the ip2c.jar third-party library to determine countries from IP addresses. If I comment the class that is using the ip2c.jar file, I don't get the error. How can a third-party library be preventing the JVM from finding my main class?

• Accessing parent 'this' inside a jQuery $.getJSON

  I'm going to assume that the overall structure of my code as it currently stands is 'best', otherwise this question gets too long, but if I've made any obvious mistakes (or if I've made life hard for myself) then please correct away! Using jQuery, I have a javascript 'class' set out something like this: function MyClass () { this.noise = "Woof" this.dostuff = function() { $.getJSON("http://cows.go",function(moo) { this.noise = moo.inEnglish; } } } var instance = new MyClass(); instance.doStuff() console.log(instance.noise) I'm expecting some kinda tea drinking moo in the console, but of course I'm getting an error about this.noise not being defined (because $.getJSON doesn't pass this through, right?) Any suggestions as to how to be able to affect instance.squeak for any and all instances of MyClass without interference?

• [ANT] Not able to invoke remote script in windows from linux using SSHEXEC

  Hi, I have set up OpenSSH in my windows environment and wants to invoke a ANT script from a Linux environment. But i'm getting the following error: $ ant -f invoke.xml Buildfile: /home/inysi/jpegu/cdt/tmp/invoke.xml run: [sshexec] Connecting to ****** [sshexec] cmd : ant -f build.xml [sshexec] uname: not found [sshexec] basename: not found [sshexec] dirname: not found [sshexec] Error: JAVA_HOME is not defined correctly. [sshexec] We cannot execute java [sshexec] which: not found BUILD SUCCESSFUL Total time: 2 seconds But, i can invoke the remote ANT script in Linux environment using SSHEXEC from windows. Can you please let me know, what could be the issue. JAVA_HOME is set in the windows environment variables. Where to set JAVA_HOME in the windows environment. Is there something similar to .bash_profile in windows. So that ANT process can pick it up.

• Navigating from VB.NET code to C# code problem

  Hi, There seemes to be a consistent problem with the following situation: Say you have a VS2008 solution, consisting of a (say console) application written in vb.net, and a class library written in c#. The application references the class library project. This, of course, complies and works well. However, when you right-click (in the vb.net application code) a function prototype/object type defined in the class library, and select "Go to definition", the object browser opens providing you with the the list of methods available for the class the class library consists of. BAD. However, if you try to do the same when both the application and cl are in c#, this works just fine and you navigate driectly to the relevant function/class.GOOD. Known issue? Solvable?

• JXTreeTable and BorderHighlighter Drawing Border on All Rows

  I'm using a BorderHighlighter on my JXTreeTable to put a border above each of the table cells on non-leaf rows to give a more clear visual separator for users. The problem is that when I expand the hierarchical column, all cells in the hierarchical column, for all rows, include the Border from the Highlighter. The other columns are displaying just fine. • setting codeigniter mysql datetime column to time() always sets it to 0

  Hi guys. I'm using Codeigniter for a small project, and my model works correctly except for the dates. I have a column defined: created_at datetime not null and my model code includes in its array passed into db-insert: 'created_at' = time() This produces a datetime value of 0000-00-00 00:00:00. When I change it to: 'created_at' = "from_unixtime(" . time() . ")" it still produces the 0 datetime value. What am I doing wrong? How can I set this field to the given unix time? Also, I know mysql sets TIMESTAMP columns automatically for you - I'm not interested in that solution here. So far I can't find a complete example of this on the web.

  For a gcc cheatsheet I'm writing, I want to create a table which should describe how gcc interprets different file endings.   I want to calculate 2^n-1 for a 64bit integer value. What I currently do is this for(i=0; i<n; i++) r|=1<<i; and I wonder if there is more elegant way to do it. The line is in an inner loop, so I need it to be fast. I thought of r=(1ULL<<n)-1; but it doesn't work for n=64, because << is only defined for values of n up to 63.

• Algorithm for non-contiguous netmask match

  Hi, I have to write a really really fast algorithm to match an IP address to a list of groups, where each group is defined using a notation like 192.168.0.0/252.255.0.255. As you can see, the bitmask can contain zeros even in the middle, so the traditional "longest prefix match" algorithms won't work. If an IP matches two groups, it will be assigned to the group containing most 1's in the netmask. I'm not working with many entries (let's say < 1000) and I don't want to use a data structure requiring a large memory footprint (let's say 1-2 MB), but it really has to be fast (of course I can't afford a linear search). Do you have any suggestion? Thanks guys. UPDATE: I found something quite interesting at http://www.cse.usf.edu/~ligatti/papers/grouper-conf.pdf, but it's still too memory-hungry for my utopic use case

How can I get this behavior in a user-defined class if a superclass already defines hashCode()?   A colleague of mine posted a question on an internal forum which got me thinking about whether this was possible through C#. Basically, he's got an interface as follows: public interface IProvider<T> { T GetT(); } Is it possible to use something that implements that interface as a type parameter to another generic class and have access to the type T without re-specifying it? For example: public class Foo<P> where P : IProvider<T> { P p; T GetInnerT() { return p.GetT(); } } This does not compile, because the type T is not defined and hence can't be used as a parameter for IProvider. Is something like this even possible? Just curious!

• Entity Framework 4: C# !(ReferenceEquals()) vs !=

  Unless a class specifically overrides the behavior defined for Object, ReferenceEquals and == do the same thing... compare references. In property setters, I have commonly used the pattern private MyType myProperty; public MyType MyProperty { set { if (myProperty != value) { myProperty = value; // Do stuff like NotifyPropertyChanged } } } However, in code generated by Entity Framework, the if statement is replaced by if (!ReferenceEquals(myProperty, value)) Using ReferenceEquals is more explicit (as I guess not all C# programmers know that == does the same thing if not overridden). Is there any difference that's escaping me between the two if-variants? Are they perhaps accounting for the possibility that POCO designers may have overridden ==? In short, if I have not overridden ==, am I save using != instead of ReferencEquals()?

(The host creates an instance, and passes that to the WebServiceHost) Hosting app:WebServiceHost host = null; SomeService serviceInstance = new SomeService("text", "more text"); host = new WebServiceHost(serviceInstance, baseUri); Problem: When I go to use the variables initialised when the service is created (ie, when a call is made to the service), they are either null or empty... Am I wrong in assuming that as the instance being initialised in the hosting application is used for each request to the WebServiceHost? Any pointers here would be great.

  I wish to plot a line graph where the x-axis is defined as a number of days between two dates and the y-axis is a value that varies on each of the days. I can plot the y values as an NSNumber but I have no idea how to set the ranges and the markup on the x-axis. I have looked at the date example in the "examples" directory of the core-plot distribution but have found it a little confusing. • How do I list all non-system stored procedures?

  I want to create a query to list of all user defined stored procedures, excluding the ones that are system stored procedures, considering that: Checking the name like "sp_" doesn't work because there are user stored procedures that start with "sp_". Checking the property is_ms_shipped doesn't work because there are system stored procedures that have that flag = 0, for example: sp_alterdiagram (it is not MSShipped but appears under System Stored Procedures in SQL Server Management Studio). There must be a property, or a flag somewhere since you can see the "System Stored Procedures" in a separate folder in SQL 2005. Does anyone know?   when i try to call a javascript function in a dynamically loaded user control, it cannot find the function specified. I have a user control for organizationDetails.ascx. In there, I am using modal popup extender to get some information from the user and then i verify the address through google and suggests the proper format. I am trying to use a java script for a function called for onBlur of a textbox but the mozilla firebug says that the function is not defined, which is not the case. It would be great if someone can help me out here.

• Visual C++ 2010 solution-wide macros with parameters

  I'm trying to compile some source code with Visual C++ 2010 Express. The code was written for GCC, and contains attributes like this: struct something { ... } __attribute__((packed)); Since this is not standard C++ syntax, Visual C++ doesn't recognize it. With this macro prior to the struct declaration, it works fine: #define __attribute__(p) But I don't want to alter the files. I created a new property sheet (GccCompat), and went to Preprocessor Definitions, and added the macro, like this: __attribute__(p) or like this: __attribute__(p)= But it doesn't work. It's simply not called. If I define just __attribute__ (without parameters) in the same location, the macro is correctly defined. Note that the command line that is generated looks fine (the macros with parameters are passed exactly the same as the ones without), but the compiler seems to ignore it. So, how can I globally define my macro with a parameter?

• c#: RedirectStandardOutput prevents exit exception?

  All I want is to redirect standard output of a process to a file. Sounds easy, but everything I tried doesn't work: 1) putting a dos-style redirection in the list of arguments (e.g. "param1 param2 output.txt") doesn't work, 2) using RedirectStandardOutput = true works, BUT, apparently the process does not through an exception when it exists. So the handler defined via process.Exited += ... doesn't catch anything. To be clear, once I remove the 'RedirectStandardOutput = true ' statement, it DOES catch an exception. What am I doing wrong ?   Hello, I have well-formed xml documents into string variables. I want to use preg_replace to add a defined attribute to every xml tags. For example replace: <tag1> <tag2> some text </tag2> </tag1> by: <tag1 attr="myAttr"> <tag2 attr="myAttr"> some text </tag2> </tag1> So I basically need the regex expression to find any start tags and add my attribute, but I'm a complete regex noob.   I'm creating a list of my defined objects like so List<clock> cclocks = new List<clocks>(); for each object in the list i'm calling a method moveTime, like so foreach(clock c in cclocks) { c.moveTime(); } is the a way i can write some cleaver thing so i can call cclocks.moveTime(); it would then go though the list doing that method I guess I want to create a collection method? • Restrict violation of architecture - asp.net MVP

  If we had a defined hierarchy in an application. For ex a 3 - tier architecture, how do we restrict subsequent developers from violating the norms? For ex, in case of MVP (not asp.net MVC) architecture, the presenter should always bind the model and view. This helps in writing proper unit test programs. However, we had instances where people directly imported the model in view and called the functions violating the norms and hence the test cases couldn't be written properly. Is there a way we can restrict which classes are allowed to inherit from a set of classes? I am looking at various possibilities, including adopting a different design pattern, however a new approach should be worth the code change involved.
