• how often is a project scrapped?

  first example: i worked on a vb.net application for several months. the client paid, said thank you, and posted it on their website. their site is not functional and has not been functional for a while. another company asked me to develop a c# application for their biotech business. i worked on it for a year. they paid me, said thank you. the project was not finished but they just forgot about it. how often do you get a project, get paid for it, and then the client completely forgets about it? they dont ask for support, and they just leave it hanging. does this happen often?

  I have created SQLiteOpenHelper class to help me open write the database. but i am not able to invoke it from the main.java activity I have created an Class which extends the Database Helper which is stored at /Messaging/src/com/v3/messaging/DatabaseHelper.java Code: http://pastebin.com/Z5qp32xu now i have this class called Main.java which will be the first activity on the launch of the application. But how can i make the DatabaseHelper.java run just to create the database but still be at the Main.java file. The database should be created with the tables only when the db or the tables dont exist.   Hi, Is there a way to dynamically create a selectItem list? I dont really want to have to create lots of bean code to make my lists return List<SelectItem>... • symfony validation problem

  im testing symfony form validation. the problem is very simple. no matter what i put in the body text area and post it, i keep getting "Required" back. i dont know why. i just have one validation rule. here is the code: code what is wrong/how can i debug? thanks UPDATE: it has something to do with the binding in the controller. cause even if i delete the validation the form will still not be valid and it will be passed to the template but this time without the "Required". so it wont be valid no matter if ive got the validation or not. it has something to do with the embedForm() maybe? someone that has validated an embeded form?

  I have setup a SSRS 2008 and building reports. So far so good. Now there is a picture control in SSRS where you can set the picture as external link reference. There you can choose to use a link. When I use a weblink (http://anyurl/download_picture.aspx?id=123) it dont' work for me. Calling the url in the web browser (all tested IE, Safari, Chrome, FF) the pictures is delivered, Header is ok, content type, too. Does it work in general in SSRS ? Or do I have to copy the picture to a temp folder and link the url like http://anyurl/mypicture.jpg.

But I want if there is an error generated by jquery.validate.js then I know the how many errors generated by validate.js in application.php. Invoke the explicitly or implicitly indicated superclass constructor (unless this class is java.lang.Object) Initialise the fields of the object in the order in which they were declared in this class Execute the rest of the body of this constructor. What i dont undertsand is that, a constructor can never "start" with this, because even if it forms no class heirarchy/relationship then super() is inserted by default. Now when I built my code, I see that size of object file for some source files have changed. Since my files are very big and tool has changed almost every line, I dont know whether it has done something disastrous. I also have an invoice table that is dbo.invoices with invoicecompanyId column (which is the same as the companyId on the other table) and it also has a column called invoicedate.   I have a question that I dont really know where to start. So I thought i'd ask it here. Basically, I have a drop down with names in it. I want these names to be in alphabetical order. Populating the drop down happens as follows; I query a database and pull down an Id and Name, make a object called "UserList", and set the name and id variables with what I get back. I then add this object to an ArrayList. I do this over and over. I then convert this collection to an array, and pass it to my JSP page using session.setAttribute("userList", UserList); I then populate the drop down as below. <c:forEach items="${usersCompanysList}" var="c" > There probably is a simple answer but how to I sort these names?

• Is RIA Services right for our Silverlight app at this point?

  Hi, I'm looking at Silverlight architectures and RIA Services looks interesting, but I am a bit concerned about its prelease status and how the feature set will change. We need our client app to be as responsive as possible over a slow network link, so a high priority is a solid sync system for pushing model state changes from the client back to the server. Will RIA Services help us in this regard or will I have to roll my own logic to do this ? Are there any other frameworks that can assist with this? Is the feature set involved in these requirements liable to change much in the next couple of months? If it makes any difference, our frontend is 100% Silverlight, so we dont need to worry about exposing SOAP APIs from the server or anything like that. It appears to me that RIA so far is a bit more mature for Silverlight use. Is this correct?

  Hi, What is the best way for me to check for new files added to a directory, I dont think the filesystemwatcher would be suitable as this is not an always on service but a method that runs when my program starts up. there are over 20,000 files in the folder structure I am monitoring, at present I am checking each file individually to see if the filepath is in my database table, however this is taking around ten minutes and I would like to speed it up is possible, I can store the date the folder was last checked - is it easy to get all files with createddate last checked date. anyone got any Ideas?
