  Hi, I have an XML file which XML parser choke on. A part of it is : <closedDeal><customer><![CDATA[ABC ]]></customer></closedDeal> The error I got is The literal string ']]>' is not allowed in element content. Error processing resource What is the correct way of using CDATA? I need CDATA because the data is read from Excel, and could contain illegal character such as ALT+ENTER whitespace. Please help. I am having a hard time to understand how I can save the authors in view function? I am thinking of using a hidden field to record all the author id's but I am having a hard time figuring out how to save it on the postback.

While login i authenticate by matching the encrepted passowrd saved in database and again encrypted the one use enter in password field. As of now everything works fine but now i want to do 'Forgot Passowrd' functionality.to do this i need to decrypt the password which is saved in database to find original one.How to decrypt using 'digest/sha1' ? Or someone know any algoritham which supports encryption & decryption as well? Iam using ruby-on-rails so i need Ruby way to accomplish it.

• Visual Studio Team System 2008 - messy formatting/control characters/marks in source code

  Hi, I don't know what I did but somehow the IDE has started displaying a green dot whenever I press spacebar and a green arrowhead whenever I press TAB. The source has become littered with these characters all over and I am finding it very difficult to code in the presence of so many formatting marks. I have tried to search a solution on Google but couldn't perhaps enter the right keywords so haven't been able to fix the behavior. Is there any way I can stop VS2008 IDE from littering my source code with these green dots and arrowheads whenever I press spacebar/tab? I would be really thankful for this help. Thanks, -AL

  I am having the hardest time wrapping my head around this. I recently asked this question Create/Edit/Save data in a jQuery pop-up for ASP.NET-MVC and Linq2Sql I'm sure that the response is the right way to go, but I just can't figure out how to write the back-end code to make it work. I originally made my site by following the nerddinner tutorial. I have a subcontracts model and a subcontracts controller. On my subcontract entry page, I'd like for there to be a pop-up/dialog box where the user can enter a new company if the company isn't already in the drop-down list. Do I need to create a new company controller? I wouldn't have a company model b/c the company table is linked to my subcontracts table within the subcontracts dbml. Can anyone point me to an example somewhere? Or offer any help.

  geonames.org got a web api you can use to get all the hierarchy for a city. you just enter the id and you will get the data back in xml. http://ws.geonames.org/hierarchy?geonameId=2657896 i wonder how you fetch the url with php and javascript, and which one should i use. cause the id's are in the mysql database. i will get them with php. should i use file_get_contents, curl or fopen? and what function in javascript? jquery $.post? heard that it can only access localhost. would be great with some guidance here and even better with some code examples. thanks!

  See: http://www.airbnb.com/ In the search bar, start typing "san f" (no quotes, all lowercase), then hit Return (or Enter). "San Francisco" is autocompleted. This is good! Now clear the search field and start over. type "San F" and boom - "San Francisco" is autocompleted as soon as you hit Shift. This is not expected. This happens in FF & Safari, but is untested elsewhere. I've looked through the jQuery Autocomplete Source Code and everything looks normal. Has anyone experienced this before?

  As this post points out you can install Vimballs using the normal: vim somevimball.vba :so % :q But if you want to install a from the command line how do you do it? I ran a 'man vim' and it seems like the best "from source install" option was the '-S' option so I tried to install haskellmode with it: wget 'http://projects.haskell.org/haskellmode-vim/vimfiles/haskellmode-20090430.vba' vim -S haskellmode-20090430.vba and that failed to work. It gave me the following error: Error detected while processing function vimball#Vimball: line 10: (Vimball) The current file does not appear to be a Vimball! press ENTER or type command to continue It should be noted that using the first method I was able to successfully install the vimball. I have tried the second method on a few other vimballs and it has failed every time. Is there a way to install a vimball from the command line? It seems like a useful sort of task. Oh, and I am running the following version of vim: Version: 2:7.2.330-1ubuntu3 Thanks.

  When I use UpdateModel or TryUpdateModel, the MVC framework is smart enough to know if you are trying to pass in a null into a value type (e.g. the user forgets to fill out the required Birth Day field) . Unfortunately, I don't know how to override the default message, "A value is required." in the summary into something more meaningful ("Please enter in your Birth Day"). There has to be a way of doing this (without writing too much work-around code), but I can't find it. Any help? EDIT Also, I guess this would also be an issue for invalid conversions, e.g. BirthDay = "Hello".

• Ruby on Rails 2.3.5: update_all failing on ActiveRecord

  I'm trying to update a collection of records in my database using ActiveRecord's update_all. Enter script/console. MyModel.update_all("reserved = 1", :order => 'rand()', :limit => 1000) ActiveRecord thinks order is a column, says it's unknown and throws an exception. According to the documentation though, my syntax looks sane. This is RoR 2.3.5. When doing MyModel.update_all("reserved = 1") alone, it works just fine. Also if I do MyModel.update_all("reserved = 1", "reserve_type = 2", :order = "rand()", :limit = 1000) = 0 0 rows affected. I'm simply trying to do: UPDATE MyModel SET reserved=1, reserve_type=2 ORDER BY RAND() LIMIT 1000

• Problem creating site using Microsoft Visual Web Developer Express 2008

  Hi, this is a very newbie question, sorry! I need to create an aspx website based con C# and am calling some webservices based on some DLL's I already have. Beforem purchasing Visual Studio, I decided to try Microsoft Visual Web Developer Express (is this ok?) creating a Web Application ASP.NET based on Visual C#. I created the form to enter the data which is submitted when clicking the process button. At this point I need to call stuff from the DLL, which I have added in the Solution Explorer via Add Reference, selecting the DLL from the COM list. But whenever I run the project, I always get the error "the type or namespace xxx cannot be found - maybe a using directive or assembler directive is missing" when trying to create the object. What is my stupid mistake? Thanks!

  How can I prevent double encoding of html entities, or fix them programmatically? I am using the encode() function from the HTML::Entities perl module to encode HTML entities in user input. The problem here is that we also allow users to input HTML entities directly and these entities end up being double encoded. For example, a user may enter: Stackoverflow & Perl = Awesome&hellip; This ends up being encoded to Stackoverflow &amp; Perl = Awesome&amp;hellip; This renders in the browser as Stackoverflow & Perl = Awesome&hellip; We want this to render as Stackoverflow & Perl = Awesome... Is there a way to prevent this double encoding? Or is there a module or snippet of code that can easily correct these double encoding issues? Any help is greatly appreciated!

• Use of "setTimeout()" in my jQuery Expression

  I'm trying to add the JavaScript function setTimeout() to my jQuery expression. Without the setTimeout() my function loads a partial view with updated information when I enter text into my textbox. But, it loads the information with every keystroke. My logic is that if I can put in a timer then when the user stops typing, a second later the data is updated. I'm wondering how do i design the best user interface that the user can localize data for various languages? for instance, in making a page which its title is different in every lang, do i put a textbox for every one? it's not a suitable way to do(in case of 10 lang, the user has 10 textbox!!! too silly) what is your idea about this? However, despite numerous web searches and reading, I'm struggling to finalise the method required to enable me to have a different name on the app store to the name that appears under the app on the device home screen. In the plist.info file there is reference to bundle display name, executable name, bundle name, bundle identifier, product name etc. So, for example, say I would like the app store name to display as: HELLO WORLD and I would like the name below the icon on the device home screen to display as: HELLO How should I enter the data in the plist.info file to achieve the above?   Greetings! I have this question. Whenever, I enter a transformation (gltranslate, glrotate, glscale) within a display list, the transformation remains as a command within the display list. Everytime the display list is rendered, it will calculate all and over again. Is there a way, I can make an opengl transformation and the transformed vertex coordinates be stored permanently in a display list instead of transformation & intial coordinates?   i have small problem.... i have one content type say cars with various fields, say more than 30 , user can create the content types... now i would like to show only few fields in different phases,is there any possibility to do that. more explantaion:- user may enter the car model and car details in the first page and upload images in second page.(say a popup in the block) is this is possible ? i m newbie to drupal, i would like to do this kind of data updation, i though with designing a one more content type with the existing fields, can any one explain this issue... what if i design a content type car1 with same fields say(file uplaod) in car content type.

• setUserCredentials from Google data api is stuck

  Well, since I am facing some issues with OAuth implementation, I decided to go back to normal method where users will input their login id and password and I will use them in my code to validate their google account to fetch calendar information. So when user enters login id and password, the page is getting stuck. When I check the code, setUserCredentials is the method where it is getting stuck. But when I enter my login id and password and debug on development site, it works fine. There is no problem when I debug. And importantly , the problem appears for first time only, once I debug the code and next time I try it without breakpoint, it works fine. Does anyone know why setUserCredentials takes time or any way I can track why it is taking so time? I have asked the same question on Google data api forum, but nobody answered it.

  In WPF using IDataErrorInfo and Style I want to create form where I can provide end user three different status while validating data To make the scenario more clear 1) I have textbox next to it I have icon which provides end user what kind of input textbox expects - Initial status with information icon 2) As soon as user enter data it validates it and decides whether it is valid or not - most of the time it will show cross (X) icon saying invalid data 3) As it is validating on UpdateSourceTrigger="PropertyChanged" it will turn cross icon to green check mark as soon as it gets validated i.e [ ] i (tooltip- Any valid user name ) [Ga ] X (tooltip- Invalid user name. Must be 5 char long) [Gaurav ] * (it will show only correct icon, meaning valid value) How can I achieve this using IDataErrorInfo and Style, I tried doing that but as soon as my form gets loaded it invalidates all the data and shows cross icon at the first time. I want to show different tooltip and different icon for three states (Initial info, Invalid data, Valid data)

  I am working on a website in PHP where people can make comments similar to a blog, and I only want particular tags to be allowed. Are there any pre-built libraries that process comments and produce valid XHTML Strict code? I would need to do this in JavaScript so I can generate a live preview like Stack Overflow, plus in PHP before saving it to a MySQL database. The allowed HTML tags will be: strong, em, blockquote, and links (rel=nofollow not required) One way would be to allow people to directly enter the HTML into the comment field but I would prefer to use a simple mark up something like this (can be different - this is an example): *strong* _em_ [blockquote] http://www.link.com I want line breaks to be converted to <br />.
