  • VSTS 2010 Create a custom Process Template

    Hi, I am required to create a custom Process Template on using VSTS 2010 Beta 1. Given that I did not use templates in VSTS 2008 I am not even sure where to start. The TFS and VS 2010 are all installed and configured. First I tried to create a test project and selected a built-in template "MSF for Agile Software etc." I wanted to try to modify (customize) it to begin with but was not sure how to do it. I searched high and low but could not find a sample/walkthrough/hint/help on how to develop a process template from scratch. Sorry for the messy explanation but I am kind of VERY frustrated...

  • winUserControl in VS2010 - properties are not visible in designer

    I have a problem with (I suppose) my Visual Studio 2010 Express environment: when I design my own UserControl, in Properties grid I can't see public properties of that control. They are however visible in the project, that reference this control. As it's Express Edition, I create new empty project, then add new UserControl to it. Then, for a test, I put following code: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.ComponentModel; using System.Drawing; using System.Data; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Windows.Forms; namespace Project1 { public partial class UserControl1 : UserControl { private int myNumber; [Browsable(true)] public int MyNumber { get { return myNumber; } set { myNumber = value; } } public UserControl1() { InitializeComponent(); } } } In VS 2008, as I remember, that should be enogh to show MyNumber property in Properties grid, even without [Browsable(true)] attribute. In VS 2010 however, when I double click UserControl1.cs in Solution Explorer and look in Properties, I don't see MyNumber. When I reference and use this control in another project, there is an access to it's properties. I've tried to competly reinstall VS 2010 environment, including SP1, but with no success. Do you have any idea what can be wrong? By the way: none of these attributes are working, either: [Browsable(true)] [EditorBrowsable(EditorBrowsableState.Always)] [DesignerSerializationVisibility(DesignerSerializationVisibility.Content)] [Bindable(true)] Best regards, Marcin

  • C# Express 2010 Multi-Threading

    Hi, I have a windows app that I have been running in c# Express 2008 for a year and have been trying to convert it over the last few days to 2010. The problem I am having is it is a multi-threaded application that has to run a series of code every second. What it does is have a main thread, that calls 3 worker threads, waits for them to finish then does some additional processing, sleeps till 1 second and runs again. The problem is part of the code can call a web service that takes 8 seconds to respond, so this bit of code gets called using ThreadPool.QueueUserWorkItem. The problem is when running in 2010 when this part of the code gets called the main thread continues to run but when it awakens the sub threads it hangs until the Threadpool method finishes running. This never happens in 2008. Any suggestions? So far I put that bit of code in it's own thread rather than using Threadpool but same issue.

  • Outlook 2010 Populating a Text Box

    all! I'll try to be as detailed as possible in describing my predicament. I have a little background knowledge in Visual Basic, but none really in VBA or VBscript in Outlook 2010. I'm working with Outlook 2010. I created a custom form (this is my first time). I have a combo box named ComboBox1 and a text box named TextBox1. I am trying to auto-populate TextBox1 with a number based on the selection made from ComboBox1 (ex. I select Value 1 from ComboBox1 and TextBox1 populates with 124). I made an attempt using this code in the Visual Basic Editor (VBA version 7.0): Sub popBox() If ComboBox1 = "Value 1" Then TextBox1 = "124" End If End Sub My question is what am I doing wrong? Should I be using the VBscript editor, or is using VBA the proper thing to do? Is what I am asking even possible? Thank you all in advance!

  • How do I get a .Net 4.0 app to coexist as an application under a SharePoint 2007 website in IIS v7?

    I have created a small .Net 4.0 website and installed it on my SharePoint server as a separate web site in IIS v7 (using port 8008 for now). I had to install the .Net 4 framework, set up the database, etc. and this all went smoothly and my app works as a standalone website. Now I am trying to get pages from my website to show up in SharePoint 2007. For various reasons (the SharePoint site is using SSL, security, etc.) I now need to move my .Net app to run under the SharePoint 2007 site in IIS. I have added it as an 'Application' and set it up with the same .Net v4 application pool and settings that were working when it was set up as a standalone site. Now when I try to access the application I get the error at the end of this description. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I already tried following the instructions on this post: http://blogs.msdn.com/sgoodyear/archive/2007/05/07/custom-web-applications-coexisting-with-sharepoint-2007.aspx but that did not help. Thanks!   • Anonymous Access and Sharepoint Web Services

    A month or so ago I was working on a feature for a project that required a level of anonymity on the Sharepoint site in order to function. At the same time I was also working on another feature that required access to the Sharepoint search.asmx web service. I found out, the hard way, that the Sharepoint Web Services do not operate in an expected way while the IIS site is under anonymous access. Even though these web services expect requests with certain permissions (in theory) they never attempt to request those credentials when the web service is contacted. As a result the services return a 401 Unauthorized response. The fix for my situation was to restrict anonymous access to the area that needed it (in this case the control in question had support for being used in an ASP.NET app that I could throw in a virtual directory). After that I removed anonymous access from IIS for the site itself and the QueryService requests were working once more.   • Access denied error when adding new server to existing SharePoint 2007 Farm

    I recently got an error when adding a new SharePoint 2007 (SP2) server to our existing MOSS farm.  I had run the installation fine, and was walking through the SharePoint Configuration Wizard, when I got an error on step 2: “Resource retrieved id PostSetupConfigurationFailedEventLog is Configuration of SharePoint Products and Technologies failed.” I searched the net, but didn’t really find anything. I then remembered that I had forgotten to run the latest SharePoint updates (for us, the latest applied was December 2009).  I installed the WSS update, and then the MOSS update and both worked fine.  I then ran the Configuration wizard again and it worked without any errors.

  • What's Bringing SharePoint 2007 Server to a hault?

    I've been having issues with my teste environment and I'm hoping someone has run into this problem and can point me in the right direction. I noticed: SharePoint Server Memory is through the roof at times and so is the CPU usage. Most of CPU usage is a sql proccess. Running out of disk space all the time. I looked in the Logs located in the 12 hive and sure enough I have 1G log files that are hard to open because of the size. I know one other person posted something about this back in 2008, but no answers were reached. I have already checked the databases to see if any of them have gone offline for whatever reason, but from SQL everything is fine. I recently re-created an SSP and deleted an old ssp. So I thought maybe that was causing it, and who knows? maybe that causes some of the problems or maybe all. I'm running configuration wizard and see if anything changes. Please if someone has had similar issues let me know.

    Follow these simple guidelines to make collaboration using SharePoint easier:1. File Name:While it is allowed to use spaces in your filename (and maybe it seems even logical to do so), don’t use them if your file will end up (or is born on) SharePoint. When you use the “download a copy” functionality, SharePoint will replace the spaces with an “_”. This might (will) result in inconsistency when you upload the “same” file again, since SharePoint will see this as a different file (since the filename is different). I recommend using a filename with Capitalization style naming guideline. For instance: the document “Overall governance model.docx” would be named “OverallGovernanceModel.docx”Use the TITLE field in the office applications to give your document a title (and subtitle and keywords, .) The title column can be used in a view in a library. You can get to the document properties by clicking on 'Office Button/Prepare/Properties'. (Office 2007). This is metadata that is stored with the document, and will remain in the document (even if you exchange this document via e-mail, via an external hard drive). The filename cannot be longer than 128 characters. (and that is IMHO far beyond reasonable) You cannot use any of these characters: ” # % & * : < > ? \ / { | } ~ 2. Versioning:SharePoint has a built-in versioning system. You can work with major (published) versions, and minor (draft) versions. Of each of these two document types, you can store a numbers of versions that are kept. Watch out, each version is saved, not only the delta between 2 versions, and this counts to your Site Collection Quota. (Example: you have a Word document with a size of 2 MB. When you keep 5 Drafts this will result in storing (and consuming) 10 MB.So, don’t call your document “NewUserAccountProcessDRAFTv1.docx”, but “NewUserAccountProcess.docx” and use versioning setting in your library.You can enable views on your library to display the version number.You can enable the version number to be displayed in a Word document.3. Use MetadataUse metadata to assign other properties to documents, so it can be easily identified, sorted- or grouped by.
