  • PHP Not Automatically Updating With ?reload=1

    A friend built a ranking system on his site and I am trying to host in on mine via wordpress and godaddy. It updates for him but when I load it to my site, it works for 6 hours, but as soon as the reload is supposed to occur, it errors and I get a 500 timeout error. His page is at: jeremynoeljohnson .com/yakezieclub My page is currently at http://sweatingthebigstuff.com/yakezieclub but when you ?reload=1 it will give the error. Any idea why this might be happening? Any settings that I might need to change? Here is the top of the index.php file. I'm not sure which part of any of it is messing up. I literally uploaded the same code as him.   • Stop Ubuntu From Automatically Updating the Time

    I just need to set the date temporarily. I run this date 051918002010.00 and it sticks for just 5 seconds or so. Then it syncs with the time server. I have tried: ps aux | grep ntp but there is nothing there. I need a correct answer now, more than a more detailed answer later :) Edit: As answerers quickly discovered, my Ubuntu is running in a VirtualBox, which turned out to be relevant for some versions of the answer.     I'm using evrouter to simulate keypresses from my mouses extra buttons. It works great but I need to run the command with sudo to make it work so I can't just use my DE to handle autostart.   • All items in my pen drive had been renamed automatically and cannot open it

    All the items (both files and folders) inside my pen drive had been renamed to some characters like :]h.¡?.A++ and when I try to open any folder Windows gives this message. The filename,directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect I was told that it is a problem of the pen drive, not a virus. They say if I format the pendrive then I will be able to use it again normally. But I'm not sure. And I need those files. Does anybody knows a solution?

    This puzzled me. We have all mail directed to an ISP's spam filter, then delivered to SBS 2008 Exchange. One of the ISP's IP numbers suddenly appeared in the ES2007 block list, set to expire in 24 hours I think, so emails started bouncing. Quick look through the typically ponderous docs, and I can't see anything that says Exchange will auto-block an IP number, but nobody is admitting to adding it manually and I think it must have done. Anyone know about this or where it is configured? Obviously one could disable block lists completely but I'd like to know exactly why this happened.

  • Make services not start automatically after reboot (as they require access to an encrypted partition)

    Hi, I use Ubuntu Server 10.04. I more or less only want the server to be accessible over SSH after a reboot. I will then login and mount the encrypted partition myself, after which I start the services which uses it. How would I go about setting something like that up? (My first idea was to have everything except /boot in an encrypted LVM, but I never got logging in through SSH and mounting the LVM to work. Initramfs was a bit too complicated for me. Otherwise I think this would have been the best solution.)

  • running a command line app with sudo and password automatically on start up OS X (Lion)

    I need to run an app at startup/login on my mac. I want it to launch in the background and start doing it's work without interrupting me or me having to start it up because I invariably forget and then when I need it, it wasn't running! I have tried using applescript to tell terminal to run it and type my password in, but it ends up opening multiple Terminal windows and not working. Ideally I need a script that I can just add to the user login items and it will run for me. The app has no way of taking a password argument either and it has a password as well as the sudo! I need a solution that can either be done as an applescript (which can be made into an executable) or i need a commandline script but I have no idea about them. This is the manual code I type >sudo serverStatus >password:123456 >password:serverpass Not sure if this is the right stack to ask, but I have no idea now and it's above my head!     I have a collection of images which is updated regularly that I'd like to group. Rather than reviewing every single image in the collection, I'd like to run an automated tool that pre-groups the images. Adobe PhotoShop Elements has a "Find Visually Similar photos" feature which works well, but it requires manually importing the images first, then I have to select an image each time I need Photoshop to search for images that are visually similar. I do not need a de-duping program since the images are never identical. Is there anything out there that can provide what I'm looking for?

    I have a file server with ubuntu-server installed it is accessed usually through smb either from pc (ubuntu) or laptop (windows 7) Sometimes it happens that folder names on the file server are changing to some meaningless name, like TOZC0N~L or TOJNL7~U The hard disks seem to be fine, and I can´t imagine that samba is messing up folder names. There is no rule really for this problem and I can´t reproduce it, it just happens sometimes Any ideas???

    Hi all, hopefully somebody can help The table structure is as follows: tblCompany: compID compName tblOffice: offID, compID, add1, add2, add3 etc... tblEmployee: empID Name, telNo, etc... offID I have a form that contains contact details for employees, all works ok using after update. A cascading combo box, cmbComp, allows me to select a company, and inturn select the appropriate office, cboOff, and updates the corresponding tblEmployee.offID field correctly. Fields are automatically updated for the address also cmbComp: RowSource SELECT DISTINCT tblOffice.compID, tblCompany.compID FROM tblCompany INNER JOIN AdjusterCompanyOffice ON tblCompany.compID=tblOffice.compID ORDER BY tblCompany.compName; cboOff: RowSource SELECT tblCompany.offID, tblCompany.Address1, tblCompany.Address2, tblCompany.Address3, tblCompany.Address4, tblCompany.Address5 FROM tblCompany ORDER BY tblCompany.Address1; The problem I am having is that when i load a new record how to retrieve the data and automatically load the cmbComp and text fields. The cboOff combo box loads correctly as the control source for this is the offID I imagine there must be a way of setting the value on opening the record? Not sure how though. I dont think I can set the controlsource cmbComp or text fields, or can I? Any help/point in the right direction appreciated, have been searching for a way to do this but cant get anywhere!

  • Sweave/R - Automatically generating an appendix that contains all the model summaries/plots/data pro

    I like the idea of making research available at multiple levels of detail i.e., abstract for the casually curious, full text for the more interested, and finally the data and code for those working in the same area/trying to reproduce your results. In between the actual text and the data/code level, I'd like to insert another layer. Namely, I'd like to create a kind of automatically generated appendix that contains the full regression output, diagnostic plots, exploratory graphs data profiles etc. from the analysis, regardless of whether those plots/regressions etc. made it into the final paper. One idea I had was to write a script that would examine the .Rnw file and automatically: Profile all data sets that are loaded (sort of like the Hmisc(?) package) Summarize all regressions - i.e., run summary(model) for all models Present all plots (regardless of whether they made it in the final version) The idea is to make this kind of a low-effort, push-button sort of thing as opposed to a formal appendix written like the rest of a paper. What I'm looking for is some ideas on how to do this in R in a relatively simple way. My hunch is that there is some way of going through the namespace, figuring out what something is and then dumping into a PDF. Thoughts? Does something like this already exist?

    I basically want to be able to: Write a few functions in python (with the minimum amount of extra meta data) Turn these functions into a web service (with the minimum of effort / boiler plate) Automatically generate some javascript functions / objects for rpc (this should prevent me from doing as many stupid things as possible like mistyping method names, forgetting the names of methods, passing the wrong number of arguments) Example python: def hello_world(): return "Hello world" javascript: ... <!-- This file is automatically generated (either dynamically or statically) --> <script src="http://myurl.com/webservice/client_side_javascript"> </script> ... <script> $('#button').click(function () { hello_world(function (data){ $('#label').text(data))) } </script> A bit of research has shown me some approaches that come close to this: Automatic generation of json-rpc services from functions with a little boiler plate code in python and then using jquery and json to do the calls (still easy to make mistakes with method names - still need to be aware of urls when calling, very irritating to write these calls yourself in the firebug shell) Using a library like soaplib to generate wsdl from python (by adding copious type information). And then somehow convert this into javascript (not sure if there is even a library to do this) But are there any approaches closer to what I want?

  • [iOS] becomeFirstResponder: automatically scroll to the UIControl that becomes first responder

    I have a grouped UITableViewController with one section and many rows. Each cell consists of two elements: a UILabel with a description and a UITextField for an input. A form, I would say. On the bottom is a button "Next" the go to the next view. But before that, I validate the UITextField's: if the user hasn't filled a field, this field should get the focus, so that the user sees that he needs to enter something. I tried with this: [inputField becomeFirstResponder]; Remember, the button I pressed is on the bottom of my view and imagine that the UITextField is on the top. In this situation, the field doesn't get the focus because it is too far away. Now when I scroll up slowly and the field gets visible, the field becomes first responder and gets the cursor :-) Conclusion: The becomeFirstResponder worked, but does not exactly do what I wanted to. I don't want to scroll up with my finger, the field should get the focus and visible automatically. Is there any way to "jump" directly to my field? Use an alternative to becomeFirstResponder? Scroll to my field automatically? Thanks for your help!

I've got a bunch of predefined "const" values in my single-class agent source code like this: //static final values private static final long FT_THRESHOLD = 400; private static final long FT_THRESHOLD_MARGIN = 50; private static final long FT_SMOOTH_PRICE_IDICATOR = 20; private static final long FT_BUY_PRICE_MODIFIER = 0; private static final long FT_LAST_ROUNDS_STARTTIME = 90; private static final long FT_AMOUNT_ADJUST_MODIFIER = 5; private static final long FT_HISTORY_PIRCES_LENGTH = 10; private static final long FT_TRACK_DURATION = 5; private static final int MAX_BED_BID_NUM_PER_AUC = 12; I can definitely alter the values manually and then compile the code to give it another go around. But the execution time for a thorough "statistic analysis" usually requires over 2000 times of execution, which will typically lasts more than half an hour on my own laptop... So I hope there is a way to alter values using other ways than dig into the source code to change the "const" values there, so I can automatically distributed compiled code to other people's PC and let them run the statistic analysis instead. One other reason for a automatically value adjustment is that I can try using my own agent to defeat itself by choosing different "const" values. Although my values are derived from previous history and statistical results, they are far from the most optimized values. I hope there is a easy way so I can quickly adopt that so to have a good sleep tonight while the computer does everything for me... :) Any hints on this sort of stuff? Any suggestion is welcomed and much appreciated.

  • Automatically hyper-link URL's and Email's using C#, whilst leaving bespoke tags in place

    I have a site that enables users to post messages to a forum. At present, if a user types a web address or email address and posts it, it's treated the same as any other piece of text. There are tools that enable the user to supply hyper-linked web and email addresses (via some bespoke tags/markup) - these are sometimes used, but not always. In addition, a bespoke 'Image' tag can also be used to reference images that are hosted on the web. My objective is to both cater for those that use these existing tools to generate hyper-linked addresses, but to also cater for those that simply type a web or email address in, and to then automatically convert this to a hyper-linked address for them (as soon as they submit their post). I've found one or two regular expressions that convert a plain string web or email address, however, I obviously don't want to perform any manipulation on addresses that are already being handled via the sites bespoke tagging, and that's where I'm stuck - how to EXCLUDE any web or email addresses that are already catered for via the bespoke tagging - I wan't to leave them as is. Here are some examples of bespoke tagging for the variations that I need to be left alone: [URL=www.msn.com]www.msn.com[/URL] [URL=http://www.msn.com]http://www.msn.com[/URL] [[email protected]][email protected][/EMAIL] [IMG]www.msn.com/images/test.jpg[/IMG] [IMG]http://www.msn.com/images/test.jpg[/IMG] The following examples would however ideally need to be automatically converted into web & email links respectively: www.msn.com http://www.msn.com [email protected] Ideally, the 'converted' links would just have the appropriate bespoke tags applied to them as per the initial examples earlier in this post, so rather than: <a href="..." etc. they'd become: [URL=http://www.. etc.) Unfortunately, we have a LOT of historic data stored with this bespoke tagging throughout, so for now, we'd like to retain that rather than implementing an entirely new way of storing our users posts.   • Automatically backing up a file to another server?

    I have a backup created of my mysql database (vbulletin forum v3.8) everyday. It's about 360mb in size. It's stored as one text file in a secure folder. I'm thinking of getting another server, through a different host, and somehow automatically transferring the backup to my second server every day. Any ideas on how I could automate this process? I'm thinking PHP and a cron job.
