  • Putting codes in email subjects

    - by Christian W
We send out large quantities of email to our customers (work environment surveys). Sometimes our mailinglist for a client isn't quite up to date and we get bounce mails (address not found and such). However, since these all bounce back to the same address it's difficult to keep track on which bounce belongs to which client. (The email subject is usually pretty generic, like "Welcome to the work environment survey") This is why I would like to insert a identifier in the subject line of the email. So the subject would be "Welcome to the work environment survey (1234)" where 1234 is a number identifying the client/survey. We already rank pretty high because of the way our mailer handles sending the mails. Usually we contact the clients it-dept to get them to whitelist us in their firewall/spamfilter. Would this increase our spamscore in spamfilters?

  • Access the failing addresses within bounce_message_file in exim

    - by mkurz
We are running exim version 4.72 I'm using bounce_message_file to customize our bounce messages, like desribed in the documentation Within this bounce message template I can access various variables like $message_exim_id, etc. Is there also a way to access the list of the failing addresses (maybe with their error messages) in such a variable (as string, list,... whatever) or in any other way? It does not really matter how and in which format they are, I just want access them within the bounce message template file. (I am referencing to the failed addresses usually listed automatically after the line "This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:") Thank you very much for your help!

  • Write a program consisting of a main module and three other modules

    - by user106080
The owner of a super supermarket would like to have a program that computes the monthly gross pay of their employees as well as the employees’s net pay. The input for this program is the employee id number, hourly rate of pay, and number of regular and overtime hours hours worked. Gross pay is the sum of the wages earnes from regular hours; overtime is 1.5 times the regular rate. Net pay is gross pay hours; overtime is paid at 1.5 times the regular rate. Net pay is the gross pay minus deductions. Assume that deduction are taken for tax withholding (50 percent of gross pay) and parking ($10.00 per month) you will need the following variables: EmployeeID (a string) HourRate is (a float) RegHours (a float) ; GrossPay (a float);Tax (afloat) Parking (a float) OverTimeHours (a float) NetPay (a float) GrossPay = Regularhours* HourRate+OverTimeHours*(HourRate*1.5) NetPay= GrossPay – (GrossPay*Tax) – Parking

  • convert video file to .ogg

    - by Levan
I've been having trouble with this because I'm new to Linux: I would like to convert different video formats to ogv. I found some terminal commands like this: ffmpeg -i input.avi -acodec libvorbis -ac 1 -b 768k output.ogg The problem with these type of commands is that they are intended to change bit rate, fps, or even resolution. I would like to just change the file format without changing anything else about the video. I looked at the man pages for ffmpeg and found some useful info but I don't know how to space command-line options. Are there any easy ways to do this? In addition, is there a command to change the bit rate so that it doesn't go over a certain rate?

  • Legislative Alert - Payroll for North America

    - by Carolyn Cozart
We have a Legislative Alert for our customers using PeopleSoft Payroll for North America.   The IRS has made some changes to the FUTA reporting for the tax year 2011.  The IRS requires that all employers complete the 940 Schedule A form when completing the Tax Form 940.  On the Schedule A employers must indicate every state in which you were required to pay state unemployment tax during the year (even if that state's credit reduction rate was zero).  For states with a credit reduction rate greater than zero you must enter the FUTA taxable wages paid in that state then multiply it by the credit reduction rate to report the credit reduction amount for that state.  Please go to Document ID 1371681.1 to obtain additional information on this regulation along with Oracle/PeopleSoft position on this new requirement.

  • Address rewriting postfix

    - by ACHAL
I am using CentOs5 and postfix as an MTA for my server. My situation is as follows:- I have a mail server through which Php applications connect and send mails to the destination addresses. The problem is that the the application servers do not have spf/dkim record set up and my server which actually relays the mails to the network has spf/dkim records. So i want the mail sent by an application having a return address:[email protected] to change to [email protected]. r09.4reseller.org is hostname of my mail server. This i have done by generic mapping in postfix: smtp_generic_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/generic In /etc/postfix/generic: [email protected] [email protected] This is working as return address is changed to [email protected] when mail is sent. But when i try to sent mail on [email protected] I don't get mail on [email protected]. I have tried virtual mapping in postfix i.e by the file /etc/postfix/virtual but its not helping.

  • Mounting ddrescue image after recovery (in over my head)

    - by BorgDomination
I'm having problems mounting the recovery image. I've tried to mount the image multiple ways. quark@DS9 ~ $ sudo mount -t ext4 /media/jump1/1recover/sdb1.img /mnt mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/loop0, missing codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so quark@DS9 ~ $ sudo mount -r -o loop /media/jump1/1recover/sdb1.img recover mount: you must specify the filesystem type quark@DS9 ~ $ sudo mount /media/jump1/1recover/sdb1.img mnt mount: you must specify the filesystem type It doesn't even give me detailed information on the file I just made, nautilus says it's 160gb. quark@DS9 ~ $ file /media/jump1/1recover/sdb1.img /media/jump1/1recover/sdb1.img: data quark@DS9 ~ $ mmls /media/jump1/1recover/sdb1.img Cannot determine partition type I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong or if I started this process incorrectly from the beginning. I've outlined what I've done so far below. I'm clueless, I'd appreciate if someone had some input for me. What I have done from the beginning My laptop has two hard drives. One has the dual boot Win7 / Linux Mint system files. Secondary one contained my /home folder. The laptop was jarred and the /home disk was broken. I tried a LiveCD recovery, it failed. Wouldn't even load a Live session with the disk installed. So I turned to ddrescue. quark@DS9 ~ $ sudo fdisk -l Disk /dev/sda: 160.0 GB, 160041885696 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 19457 cylinders, total 312581808 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0x0009fc18 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 * 2048 112642047 56320000 7 HPFS/NTFS/exFAT /dev/sda2 138033152 312580095 87273472 83 Linux /dev/sda3 112644094 138033151 12694529 5 Extended /dev/sda5 112644096 132173823 9764864 83 Linux /dev/sda6 132175872 138033151 2928640 82 Linux swap / Solaris Partition table entries are not in disk order Disk /dev/sdb: 160.0 GB, 160041885696 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 19457 cylinders, total 312581808 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0x0002a8ea Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sdb1 * 63 312576704 156288321 83 Linux Disk /dev/sdc: 1000.2 GB, 1000204886016 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 121601 cylinders, total 1953525168 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0xed6d054b Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sdc1 63 1953520064 976760001 7 HPFS/NTFS/exFAT sda - 160g internal, holds all system files and all computer functions. sdb - 160g internal, BROKEN, contains about 140g of data I'd like to recover. sdc - 1T external, contains recovery image. • Force Xorg to run in specific resolution

    - by Z9iT
From my past experience (using Win-Xp), this particular monitor works only on 60Hz , Best resolution being 1024*768. I have "installed n configured" Ubuntu 12.04 Minimal (on USB stick) so that most of the time terminal is used, however whenever theirs a need to enter GUI I may issue startx command to go into gnome. However the problem is that on this particular system, issuing this command poses problem for its default refresh rate don't synchronize with the monitor. The display keep on flickering and utterly unreadable. It is visible that gnome has been loaded and default wallpaper and desktop items are visible. But the problem is due to refresh rate different than 60Hz. I am looking for a command attribute to startx command which will force the refresh rate to 60Hz and resolution preferably to 1204*768

  • How to read oom-killer syslog messages?

    - by Grant
I have a Ubuntu 12.04 server which sometimes dies completely - no SSH, no ping, nothing until it is physically rebooted. After the reboot, I see in syslog that the oom-killer killed, well, pretty much everything. There's a lot of detailed memory usage information in them. How do I read these logs to see what caused the OOM issue? The server has far more memory than it needs, so it shouldn't be running out of memory. • Postfix log.... spam attempt?

    - by luri
I have some weird entries in my mail.log. What I'd like to ask is if postfix is avoiding correctly (according with the main.cf attached below) what seems to be relay attempts, presumably for spamming, or if I can enhance it's security somehow. • Problems with moving 2D circle/box collision detection

    - by dario3004
This is my first game ever and I'm a newbie in computer physics. I've got this code for the collision detection and it works fine for BOTTOM and TOP collision. It miss the collision detection with the paddle's edge and angles so I've (roughly) tried to implement it. Main method that is called for bouncing, it checks if it bounce with wall, or with top (+ right/left side) or with bottom (+ right/left side): protected void handleBounces(float px, float py) { handleWallBounce(px, py); if(mBall.y < getHeight()/4){ if (handleRedFastBounce(mRed, px, py)) return; if (handleRightSideBounce(mRed,px,py)) return; if (handleLeftSideBounce(mRed,px,py)) return; } if(mBall.y > getHeight()/4 * 3){ if (handleBlueFastBounce(mBlue, px, py)) return; if (handleRightSideBounce(mBlue,px,py)) return; if (handleLeftSideBounce(mBlue,px,py)) return; } } This is the code for the BOTTOM bounce: protected boolean handleRedFastBounce(Paddle paddle, float px, float py) { if (mBall.goingUp() == false) return false; // next position tx = mBall.x; ty = mBall.y - mBall.getRadius(); // actual position ptx = px; pty = py - mBall.getRadius(); dyp = ty - paddle.getBottom(); xc = tx + (tx - ptx) * dyp / (ty - pty); if ((ty < paddle.getBottom() && pty > paddle.getBottom() && xc > paddle.getLeft() && xc < paddle.getRight())) { mBall.x = xc; mBall.y = paddle.getBottom() + mBall.getRadius(); mBall.bouncePaddle(paddle); playSound(mPaddleSFX); increaseDifficulty(); return true; } else return false; } As long as I understood it should be something like this: So I tried to make the "left side" and "right side" bounce method: protected boolean handleLeftSideBounce(Paddle paddle, float px, float py){ // next position tx = mBall.x + mBall.getRadius(); ty = mBall.y; // actual position ptx = px + mBall.getRadius(); pty = py; dyp = tx - paddle.getLeft(); yc = ty + (pty - ty) * dyp / (ptx - tx); if (ptx < paddle.getLeft() && tx > paddle.getLeft()){ System.out.println("left side bounce1"); System.out.println("yc: " + yc + "top: " + paddle.getTop() + " bottom: " + paddle.getBottom()); if (yc > paddle.getTop() && yc < paddle.getBottom()){ System.out.println("left side bounce2"); mBall.y = yc; mBall.x = paddle.getLeft() - mBall.getRadius(); mBall.bouncePaddle(paddle); playSound(mPaddleSFX); increaseDifficulty(); return true; } } return false; } I think I'm quite near to the solution but I'm having big troubles with the new "yc" formula. I tried so many versions of it but since I don't know the theory behind it I can't adjust for the Y axis. Since the Y axis is inverted I even tried this: yc = ty - (pty - ty) * dyp / (ptx - tx); I tried Googling it but I can't seem to find a solution for it. Also this method fails when ball touches the angle and I don't think is a nice way because it just test "one" point of the ball and probably there will be many cases in which the ball won't bounce.

  • how many fps can iPhone's UIGetScreenImage() actually do?

    - by M Katz
Now that Apple is officially allowing UIGetScreenImage() to be used in iPhone apps, I've seen a number of blogs saying that this "opens the floodgates" for video capture on iPhones, including older models. But I've also seen blogs that say the fastest frame rate they can get with UIGetScreenImage() is like 6 FPS. Can anyone share specific frame-rate results you've gotten with UIGetScreenImage() (or other approved APIs)? Does restricting the area of the screen captured improve frame rate significantly? Also, for the wishful thinking segment of today's program, does anyone have pointers to code/library that uses UIGetScreenImage() to capture video? For instance, I'd like an API something like Capture( int fps, Rect bounds, int durationMs ) that would turn on the camera and for the given duration record a sequence of .png files at the given frame rate, copying from the given screen rect.

  • Can't Remove Logical Drive/Array from HP P400

    - by Myles
This is my first post here. Thank you in advance for any assistance with this matter. I'm trying to remove a logical drive (logical drive 2) and an array (array "B") from my Smart Array P400. The host is a DL580 G5 running 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.7 (Tikanga). I am unable to remove the array using either hpacucli or cpqacuxe. I believe it is because of "OS Status: LOCKED". The file system that lives on this array has been unmounted. I do not want to reboot the host. Is there some way to "release" this logical drive so I can remove the array? Note that I do not need to preserve the data on logical drive 2. I intend to physically remove the drives from the machine and replace them with larger drives. I'm using the cciss kernel module that ships with Red Hat 5.7. Here is some information pertaining to the host and the P400 configuration: [root@gort ~]# cat /etc/redhat-release Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.7 (Tikanga) [root@gort ~]# uname -a Linux gort 2.6.18-274.el5 #1 SMP Fri Jul 8 17:36:59 EDT 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux [root@gort ~]# rpm -qa | egrep '^(hp|cpq)' cpqacuxe-9.30-15.0 hp-health-9.25-1551.7.rhel5 hpsmh-7.1.2-3 hpdiags-9.3.0-466 hponcfg-3.1.0-0 hp-snmp-agents-9.25-2384.8.rhel5 hpacucli-9.30-15.0 [root@gort ~]# hpacucli HP Array Configuration Utility CLI 9.30.15.0 Detecting Controllers...Done. • Jquery and XML - How to add the value of nodes

    - by Matias
Hi Experts, This may be a simple question though can´t figure out how to do it. I am parsing an XML with Jquery Ajax. It contains dates and rates The XML looks something like <rate> <date>Today</date> <price>66</price> </rate> <rate> <date>Tomorrow</date> <price>99</price> </rate> I simply want to figure out how to calculate the total price of both days Today and Tomorrow. Thought that by using Javascript Number it will simply return the total value of the nodes.. $(xml).find("rate").each(function() { $(this).find("price").each(function() { $("#TOTALPRICE").append(Number($(this).text())); } } //output is: 6699 However, it´s just concatenating the values both not adding them. //output is: 6699 I greatly appreciate your help !! Thanks

  • Let system time determine animation speed, not program FPS

    - by Anders
I'm writing a card game in ActionScript 3. Each card is represented by an instance of a class extending movieclip exported from Flash CS4 that contains the card graphics and a flip animation. When I want to flip a card I call gotoAndPlay on this movieclip. When the frame rate slows down all animations take longer to finish. It seems Flash will by default animate movieclips in a way that makes sure all frames in the clip will be drawn. Therefor, when the program frame rate goes below the frame rate of the clip, the animation will be played at a slower pace. I would like to have an animation always play at the same speed and as a consequence always be shown on the screen for the same amount of time. If the frame rate is too slow to show all frames, frames are dropped. Is is possible to tell Flash to animate in this way? If not, what is the easiest way to program this behavior myself?

  • record output sound in python

    - by aaronstacy
i want to programatically record sound coming out of my laptop in python. i found PyAudio and came up with the following program that accomplishes the task: import pyaudio, wave, sys chunk = 1024 FORMAT = pyaudio.paInt16 CHANNELS = 1 RATE = 44100 RECORD_SECONDS = 5 WAVE_OUTPUT_FILENAME = sys.argv[1] p = pyaudio.PyAudio() channel_map = (0, 1) stream_info = pyaudio.PaMacCoreStreamInfo( flags = pyaudio.PaMacCoreStreamInfo.paMacCorePlayNice, channel_map = channel_map) stream = p.open(format = FORMAT, rate = RATE, input = True, input_host_api_specific_stream_info = stream_info, channels = CHANNELS) all = [] for i in range(0, RATE / chunk * RECORD_SECONDS): data = stream.read(chunk) all.append(data) stream.close() p.terminate() data = ''.join(all) wf = wave.open(WAVE_OUTPUT_FILENAME, 'wb') wf.setnchannels(CHANNELS) wf.setsampwidth(p.get_sample_size(FORMAT)) wf.setframerate(RATE) wf.writeframes(data) wf.close() the problem is i have to connect the headphone jack to the microphone jack. i tried replacing these lines: input = True, input_host_api_specific_stream_info = stream_info, with these: output = True, output_host_api_specific_stream_info = stream_info, but then i get this error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "./test.py", line 25, in data = stream.read(chunk) File "/Library/Python/2.5/site-packages/pyaudio.py", line 562, in read paCanNotReadFromAnOutputOnlyStream) IOError: [Errno Not input stream] -9975 is there a way to instantiate the PyAudio stream so that it inputs from the computer's output and i don't have to connect the headphone jack to the microphone? is there a better way to go about this? i'd prefer to stick w/ a python app and avoid cocoa.

  • Calculating spam probability in python

    - by Hobhouse
I am building a website in python/django and want to predict wether a user submission is valid or wether it is spam. Users have an accept rate on their submissions, like this website has. Users can moderate other users' submissions; and these moderations are later metamoderated by an admin. Given this: user A with an submission accept rate of 60% submits something. user B moderates A's post as a valid submission. However, his moderations are often wrong, and his moderations' accept rate is a mere 30%. user C moderates A's post as spam. User C is usually right. His moderations' accept rate is 80%. How can I predict the chance of A's post being spam?

  • How much should I charge for Rails programming?

    - by Oskar Gantt
I have been asked to quote an hourly rate for freelance programming for a Rails project. Although it would be my first paid project on Rails, I know the technology well from personal projects and have a decade of professional programming experience. This would be my first freelance project ever, so I have no idea how to find out what the going rate for my services should be. Obviously, if I quote a rate that is too high, they may choose someone else - too low and I may feel cheated later on. Any suggestions? Update: I am in NYC and the project is scheduled for 6 months to a year (but this seems unrealistic - I think it will be a multi-year project). I would develop on site (at a corporate location) with one other developer and the project would consist of about 200 custom-built pages initially. 10 hour days with weekends and additional overtime as required. The customer has given no information about how much they will pay - "a competitive rate" - they want me to start the discussion.

  • recursive program

    - by wilson88
    I am trying to make a recursive program that calculates interest per year.It prompts the user for the startup amount (1000), the interest rate (10%)and number of years(1).(in brackets are samples) Manually I realised that the interest comes from the formula YT(1 + R)----- interest for the first year which is 1100. 2nd year YT(1 + R/2 + R2/2) //R squared 2nd year YT(1 + R/3 + R2/3 + 3R3/) // R cubed How do I write a recursive program that will calculate the interest? Below is the function which I tried double calculateInterest(double startUp, double rate, double duration) { double cpdInterest = (duration*startUp)*(1 + rate); if (duration == 0) { return cpdInterest; } else if (duration < 0) { cout << "Please enter a valid year"; } else { calculateInterest(cpdInterest,rate,duration); } return cpdInterest; }

I have a client and server program (both in Obj-C) and I am transferring files between two devices using the programs. The transferring is working fine, but I would like to display to the user what transfer rate they are getting. So I know the total size of the file, and how much of the file has been transferred, is there a way to figure out the transfer rate from this information, and if not, what information do I need to calculate the transfer rate? Thanks

  • jQuery - I'm getting unexpected outputs from a basic math formula.

    - by OllieMcCarthy
    Hi I would like to start by saying I'd greatly appreciate anyones help on this. I have built a small caculator to calculate the amount a consumer can save annually on energy by installing a ground heat pump or solar panels. As far as I can tell the mathematical formulas are correct and my client verified this yesterday when I showed him the code. Two problems. The first is that the calculator is outputting ridiculously large numbers for the first result. The second problem is that the solar result is only working when there are no zeros in the fields. Are there some quirks as to how one would write mathematical formulas in JS or jQuery? Any help greatly appreciated. Here is the link - http://www.olliemccarthy.com/test/johncmurphy/?page_id=249 And here is the code for the entire function - $jq(document).ready(function(){ // Energy Bill Saver // Declare Variables var A = ""; // Input for Oil var B = ""; // Input for Storage Heater var C = ""; // Input for Natural Gas var D = ""; // Input for LPG var E = ""; // Input for Coal var F = ""; // Input for Wood Pellets var G = ""; // Input for Number of Occupants var J = ""; var K = ""; var H = ""; var I = ""; // Declare Constants var a = "0.0816"; // Rate for Oil var b = "0.0963"; // Rate for NightRate var c = "0.0558"; // Rate for Gas var d = "0.1579"; // Rate for LPG var e = "0.121"; // Rate for Coal var f = "0.0828"; // Rate for Pellets var g = "0.02675"; // Rate for Heat Pump var x = "1226.4"; // Splittin up I to avoid error var S1 = ""; // Splitting up the calcuation for I var S2 = ""; // Splitting up the calcuation for I var S3 = ""; // Splitting up the calcuation for I var S4 = ""; // Splitting up the calcuation for I var S5 = ""; // Splitting up the calcuation for I var S6 = ""; // Splitting up the calcuation for I // Calculate H (Ground Sourced Heat Pump) $jq(".es-calculate").click(function(){ $jq(".es-result-wrap").slideDown(300); A = $jq("input.es-oil").val(); B = $jq("input.es-storage").val(); C = $jq("input.es-gas").val(); D = $jq("input.es-lpg").val(); E = $jq("input.es-coal").val(); F = $jq("input.es-pellets").val(); G = $jq("input.es-occupants").val(); J = ( A / a ) + ( B / b ) + ( C / c ) + ( D / d ) + ( E / e ) + ( F / f ) ; H = A + B + C + D + E + F - ( J * g ) ; K = ( G * x ) ; if ( A !== "0" ) { S1 = ( ( ( A / a ) / J ) * K * a ) ; } else { S1 = "0" ; } if ( B !== "0" ) { S2 = ( ( ( B / b ) / J ) * K * b ) ; } else { S2 = "0" ; } if ( C !== "0" ) { S3 = ( ( ( C / c ) / J ) * K * c ) ; } else { S3 = "0" ; } if ( D !== "0" ) { S4 = ( ( ( D / d ) / J ) * K * d ) ; } else { S4 = "0" ; } if ( E !== "0" ) { S5 = ( ( ( E / e ) / J ) * K * e ) ; } else { S5 = "0" ; } if ( F !== "0" ) { S6 = ( ( ( F / f ) / J ) * K * f ) ; } else { S6 = "0" ; } I = S1 + S2 + S3 + S4 + S5 + S6 ; if(!isNaN(H)) {$jq("span.es-result-span-h").text(H.toFixed(2));} else{$jq("span.es-result-span-h").text('Error: Please enter numerals only');} if(!isNaN(I)) {$jq("span.es-result-span-i").text(I.toFixed(2));} else{$jq("span.es-result-span-i").text('Error: Please enter numerals only');} }); });

  • Where to get pure C++ Lame MP3 encoder - PCM to MP3 example?

    - by Ole Jak
So all I need is a simple function that sets it up (eating incoming PCM RATE (for example: rate near to 44100) It's channels (for example: 2) and -bits (for example: 16) and desirable 128 kb\s rate) and another one that takes PCM data and encodes it into pure MP3 frames. I know it looks like a silly homework task but I assure you - it is not. I hope it will be of help to all C++ developers starting with MP3s. So can anybody please help me with that?

  • Inheritance vs specific types in Financial Modelling for cashflows

    - by BlueTrin
Hello, I have to program some financial applications where I have to represent a schedule of flows. The flows can be of 3 types: - fee flow (just a lump payment at some date) - floating rate flow (the flow is dependant of an interest rate to be determined at a later date) - fixed rate flow (the flow is dependant of an interest rate determined when the deal is done) I need to keep the whole information and I need to represent a schedule of these flows. Originally I wanted to use inheritance and create three classes FeeFlow, FloatingFlow, FixedFlow all inheriting from ICashFlow and implement some method GetFlowType() returning an enum then I could dynamic_cast the object to the correct type. That would allow me to have only one vector to represent my schedule. What do you think of this design, should I rather use three vectors vector, vector and vector to avoid the dynamic casts ?
