I will be presenting on the performance tuning subject, but with the twist of soft skills. I will be presenting on “Performing an Effective Presentation“.   • Printer spooler spoolsv.exe crashes

    We have a problem with a Windows 7 print spooler. There is a Windows 2011 Small Business Server running as print server and 2 computers in the network their print spooler keeps crashing at random. The log files says it is ntdll.dll that has a fault. Naam van toepassing met fout: spoolsv.exe, versie: 6.1.7601.17514, tijdstempel: 0x4ce7b4e7 Naam van module met fout: ntdll.dll, versie: 6.1.7601.17725, tijdstempel: 0x4ec4aa8e Uitzonderingscode: 0xc0000374 Foutoffset: 0x00000000000c40f2 Id van proces met fout: 0x55c Starttijd van toepassing met fout: 0x01cd9db324904eb1 Pad naar toepassing met fout: C:\Windows\System32\spoolsv.exe Pad naar module met fout: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll Rapport-id: 8789af0b-09a6-11e2-9d78-001c25237c45 The print spooler on the server keeps running and works fine. We can also print from other computers. But on two computers the print spooler crashes. Sometimes it crashes after a user is logged in, but it also happened multiple times after a print job. After each crash we get the same ntdll.dll error. Hopefully someone can help me with this problem. If you need more information, don't hesitate to ask.

  • eSATA hard drive falls asleep, takes ages to wake up.

    I'm using an external hard drive, a Western Digital MyBook 1TB of some sort with eSATA on an eSATA II ExpressCard adapter from Belkin on Windows Vista 32-bit. The issue I'm having is that after a while power management kicks in and puts the hard drive to sleep. When I resume my work and browse the drive, for example, the Explorer hangs and while I can still use my other apps, it takes a couple minutes for it to realize it should wake up the drive and recommence work. What's going on?

  • SQL SERVER – Script to Find First Day of Current Month

    Earlier I wrote a blog post about SQL SERVER – Query to Find First and Last Day of Current Month and it is a very popular post. In this post, I convert the datetime to Varchar and later on use it. However, SQL Expert Michael Usov has made a good point suggesting that it is not always a good idea to convert datetime to any other date format as it is quite possible that we may need it the value in the datetime format for other operation. He has suggested a very quick solution where we can get the first day of the current month with or without time value and keep them with datatype datetime.   • Can I get any logging and error output from Flash?

    To further provide better information for my other question about browsers and Pulse audio, I wanted to see if I could get some kind of helpful log information. I've looked at logs from both Pulseaudio and Firefox, but don't see anything like an error in either of them. The problem I'm experiencing may be coming from Flash. Is there a way I can trap specifically any log output from Flash? Update: I've downloaded the Linux Flash Player 10.3 Plugin content debugger, and I've installed libflashplayer.so in ~/.mozilla/firefox/plugins/, and copied the user/* files to /user. I've also set up mm.cfg to say: ErrorReportingEnable=1 TraceOutputFileEnable=1 MaxWarnings=50 TraceOutputFileName=/home/dave/.macromedia/Flash_Player/Logs/flashlog.txt And I rebooted just to be sure everything was starting fresh. However, after playing a Flash video from Youtube, flashlog.txt is not being generated. How can I be sure that logging is in fact enabled, so I can tell whether I'm simply not getting errors or I haven't set up logging correctly?

  • Ubuntu 12.10 64bit fresh install, wireless issue!

    Just installed a fresh Ubuntu 12.10 64bit on my laptop, run the update manager, restarted and suddenly I can't use my wifi anymore. Ubuntu software center installed automatically the wifi additional driver as you can see in my screenshot. If I mark the option "Do not use the device" and apply changes, restarting Ubuntu my wifi is back and I can use it. If I run iwconfig my terminal is showing this Now if I use Ubuntu for more than 20 minutes surfing the web my wifi it keeps to be connected but I don't receive any signal from it. Any page I try to open it simply don't open (just waiting icon). If I disconnect my wifi and connect it again, same issue, it doesn't work. The only way to make it work again is to restart Ubuntu. And the same story it happens again after aprox. 20, 30 minutes.
