  • Batch convert Malformed PDFs to TIF on Linux

    - by Mike Driscoll
I need to convert a multipage PDF to TIF, but it appears to be a malformed PDF provided by our client. I tried using ImageMagick and GhostScript, but they do not convert the file correctly. The result is only about 85-90% correct. The only thing I've found that appears to do the job is GIMP, but I can't find an example to use it via its Batch Processing methods for PDFs. Here are the warnings I get from ImageMagick and GhostScript: **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: FORMS$.f Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: P06BOB.f Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: UN308E.f Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: P06BOB.f Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: UN308E.f Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: P06BOB.f Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: UN308E.f Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: UN307A.f Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: UN104A.f Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: UN308E.f Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: UN208E.f Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: UN308E.f Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: UN208E.f Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: HE14BP.f Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: UN208E.f Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: UN106E.f Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: UN208E.f Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: UN106E.f Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: UN208E.f Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: HE08BP.f Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: HE11BP.f Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: AR10NP.f Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: UN308E.f Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: JIMP2.l Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: HS11C.l Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: FORMS$.f Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: UN104A.f Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: UN208E.f Assuming it's a font name. **** Warning: Tf refers to an unknown resource name: UN307E.f Assuming it's a font name. **** This file had errors that were repaired or ignored. **** Please notify the author of the software that produced this **** file that it does not conform to Adobe's published PDF **** specification. • Create Your Own Hand-written Font for Free

    - by User1
Does anyone know of a place where you can create your own handwritten font for free? I used to use http://www.yourfonts.com/, but now they want money. Is there some sort of free, downloadable tool to do this? BTW: There are some online programs that allow the user to create a font using a mouse. (See this question). Very cool. But, I want something that can take a scan and turn it into a font file. Any ideas?

  • Missing Font on Page in Firefox, Worked before and Still Works Now in Other Browsers

    - by Keavon
On any new Steam profile, there are many parts of the page (such as the username) that is supposed to be following this font hierarchy: 'Motiva Sans Thin',Arial,Helvetica,Verdana,sans-serif However, Motiva Sans Thin is not showing in Firefox anymore. It used to several days earlier, but now it reverts to Arial. Chrome, the Steam client, and other browsers still display Motiva Sans Thin, which leads me to believe it's still in my system's fonts, or still being provided as a web font. I have tried creating a new Firefox profile to no avail. It's been doing this for about two weeks now. Why is Firefox no longer displaying the font when it used to, and other browsers still do? How can I fix this? Thanks.

  • Thunderbird "Folders" and "Inbox" font size

    - by bo gusman
Graphical programs are such a pain sometimes. I am of an age where 1024x768 is the highest resolution that I can see. I had set my Windows 7 system fonts to be 125% - that helps a lot - but it screws up the tool bars on many other programs so I've reverted to 100% and it's now too hard to read in many cases. Most browsers will let you easily scale text font size as will the "message" window of Thunderbird (aside from setting the default font size for reading messages to 24 point, CTRL + + works wonders). However, I cannot seem to find a way to set the font size for the other panes - the Folders pane and the inbox pane. Is there some undocumented way to do that?

  • unicode data with custom font doesn't work properly in ipad

    - by David Ohanyan
I am using custom font for label and string which I am getting from unicode characters. And the font is not changing. here is the snippet of my code: NSString* str = @"\u05D0\u05D1\u05D2"; [mMatchingLabel setText:str]; mMatchingLabel.font = [UIFont fontWithName:@"David New Hebrew" size:26]; But when I write for example : NSString* str = @"label"; [mMatchingLabel setText:str]; mMatchingLabel.font = [UIFont fontWithName:@"David New Hebrew" size:26]; The font effect is evident. Can someone explain what's here wrong?

  • How to change font size using the Python ImageDraw Library

    - by Eldila
I am trying to change the font size using python's ImageDraw library. You can do something like this: fontPath = "/usr/share/fonts/dejavu-lgc/DejaVuLGCSansCondensed-Bold.ttf" sans16 = ImageFont.truetype ( fontPath, 16 ) im = Image.new ( "RGB", (200,50), "#ddd" ) draw = ImageDraw.Draw ( im ) draw.text ( (10,10), "Run awayyyy!", font=sans16, fill="red" ) The problem is that I don't want to specify a font. I want to use the default font and just change the size of the font. This seems to me that it should be simple, but I can't find documentation on how to do this.

  • Issue with CSS font color in Webkit in Lion (#444 looks darker than #333)

    - by Andrea
I have a strange issue with Safari and Chrome Mac (19.0.1084.54) in OS X Lion. Here it is, very simply put: When I display it in a Webkit browser, text set in Helvetica Neue and color Hex #444 looks a little bolder, and therefore darker, than the same text with an Hex color value of #333. This does not happen at all in Snow Leopard with the exact same browsers (same version). Happens on any website I tried, so I know it's not something related to the CSS of my website. I tried to change it live through the Inspector and it really shows up. I made a little screencast to explain it better: http://goo.gl/prQAn (.mov - ~60MB) Anyone has ever experienced something like that?

  • font showing up as squares during installation

    - by EmileBeaulieu
I am very new to linux, just so you know. I chose ubuntu as my first linux distro. I created a boot flash drive and installed it on to my little netbook. It works fine, and I'm having fun playing around with it. Now I wanted to install it on my main computer, however after inserting the flash drive and rebooting, and after the initial startup screen, the first screen that comes up has ALL the text showing up as little squares! If I remember correctly from when I installed it on the netbook, it's asking me what language I want on this screen. Why would this happen on my main computer and not on the little netbook, when I used the exact same flash drive and installation? I have a screenshot, but since I'm new here, it won't let me post it.

Servers hosting Oracle products which are clients of an NTP server (Network Time Protocol) may be particularly susceptible to this issue as the NTP server is updated. Linux distributions which may be affected include Oracle Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Oracle VM and Oracle Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel. Asianux 2 and 3, based on RHEL 4 and 5, may also be affected. One report of correction to high agent CPU using Note 1472421.1 on SLES11 has also been reported. Not all customers will be affected, but those, who are affected, may observe higher than normal CPU consumption on their Linux environments where JVM's are utilized.  In Oracle Enterprise Manager ( EM ) , this problem can manifest itself as high CPU consumption with the EM Agent process (which runs on a JVM in EM 12c, for instance).  It is possible that the OMS is also affected. We would advise customers to review the description of this problem in MOS Note 1472651.1 and take action if they observe that their environment is affected. • Automatically detect faces in a picture

    - by abel
At my work place, passport sized photographs are scanned together, then cut up into individual pictures and saved with unique file numbers. Currently we use Paint.net to manually select, cut and save the pictures. I have seen Sony's Cybershot Camera has face detection. Google also gives me something about iphoto when searching for face detection. Picasa has facedetection too. Are there any ways to autodetect the faces in a document, which would improve productivity at my workplace by reducing the time needed to cut up individual images. Sample Scanned Document(A real document has 5 rows of 4 images each=20 pics): (from: http://www.memorykeeperphoto.com/images/passport_photo.jpg, fairuse) For eg. In Picasa 3.8, On clicking View People, all the faces are shown and I am asked to name them, can I save these individual pictures automatically with the names as different pictures.

DevOps is a response to the interdependence of software development and IT operations. It aims to help an organization rapidly produce software products and services. That definition of DevOps is the – what. The “why” is even easier. Standardized development methodology, clear communication and documented processes supported by a standards-based, proven middleware platform improves application development and management cycles, brings agility and provides greater availability and security to your IT infrastructure. Clearly, DevOps is about connecting people, products and processes. Ultimately, DevOps is about connecting IT to business. May be I can put the font on my web server? Is this font available for free? Can it slow down my page? Or may be I can replace "Comic Sans MS" by another font which is similar and is available on the 3 operation systems?

  • Upcoming Carbon Tax in South Africa

    - by Evelyn Neumayr
By Elena Avesani, Principal Product Strategy Manager, Oracle In 2012, the South Africa National Treasury announced the plan to impose a carbon tax to cut carbon emissions that are blamed for climate change. South Africa is ranked among the top 20 countries measured by absolute carbon dioxide emissions, with emissions per capita in the region of 10 metric tons per annum and over 90% of South Africa's energy produced by burning fossil fuels. The top 40 largest companies in the country are responsible for 207 million tons of carbon dioxide, directly emitting 20 percent of South Africa’s carbon output. The legislation, originally scheduled to be implemented from January 2015 to 31 December 2019, is now delayed to January 2016. It will levy a carbon tax of R120 (US$11) per ton of CO2, rising then by 10 percent a year until 2020, while all sectors bar electricity will be able to claim additional relief of at least 10 percent. The South African treasury proposed a 60 percent tax-free threshold on emissions for all sectors, including electricity, petroleum, iron, steel and aluminum. Oracle Environmental Accounting and Reporting (EA&R) supports these needs and guarantees consistency across organizations in how data is collected, retained, controlled, consolidated and used in calculating and reporting emissions inventory. EA&R also enables companies to develop an enterprise-wide data view that includes all 5 of the key sustainability categories: carbon emissions, energy, water, materials and waste. Thanks to its native integration with Oracle E-Business Suite and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne ERP Financials and Inventory Systems and the capability of capturing environmental data across business silos, Oracle Environmental Accounting and Reporting is uniquely positioned to support a strategic approach to carbon management that drives business value.
