Books with applications are also welcome. I am aware that a single search on Amazon (or any other book seller) will provide me tons of titles, but some of them are avoidable... About my background/knowledge: good knowledge of mathematics and probability theory, but almost null on statistics.

    I'm planning to buy this book: The C++ Standard: Incorporating Technical Corrigendum No. 1 http://www.flipkart.com/standard-british-standards-institution-incorporating-book-0470846747 Since it's cost is too much for me (being an Indian we've the habit of buying only low-price edition books :D), I want to make sure if this is the correct edition/version of the Standard.     According to the axe book (2nd edition), we can use to_s as follows. class Song def to_s "Song" end end song = Song.new() song.to_s But, it doesn't give me anything, in order to print something to the stdout, I should run def to_s p "Song" end Is there any change since the ruby 1.8.2 when the book was written for?
