    17.3" FULL HD (1920X1080) LED LCD w/nVIDIA GeForce® GT 425M w/1GB GDDR3 + Intel GMA HD4500 i also got the 640m core i7, i have 8 gb ram but for some damn reason, when there is a batle in progress it appears as if my graphics card or something is not powerful enough, shouldn't these specs be more than enough to handle star craft II? what could i do to improve my laptop? i also got the 64 bit os

    Say, I send 10 polygon pairs (one polygon pair == one 2d sprite == one rectangle == two triangles) into OpenGL ES 2.0 VBO. The 10 polygon pairs represent one animated 2D object consisting of 10 frames. The 10 frames, of course, can not be rendered all at the same time, but will be rendered in particular order to make up smooth animation. Would you have an advice, how to pick up proper polygon pair for rendering (4 vertices) inside Vertex Shader from the VBO? Creating separate VBO for each frame would end up with thousands of VBOs, which is not the right way of doing it. I use OpenGL ES 2.0, and VBOs for both Vertices and Indices.

  • You do not need a separate SQL Server license for a Standby or Passive server - this Microsoft White Paper explains all

    If you were in any doubt at all that you need to license Standby / Passive Failover servers then the White Paper “Do Not Pay Too Much for Your Database Licensing” will settle those doubts. I’ve had debate before people thinking you can only have a single instance as a standby machine, that’s just wrong; it would mean you could have a scenario where you had a 2 node active/passive cluster with database mirroring and log shipping (a total of 4 SQL Server instances) – in that set up you only need to buy one physical license so long as the standby nodes have the same or less physical processors (cores are irrelevant). So next time your supplier suggests you need a license for your standby box tell them you don’t and educate them by pointing them to the white paper. For clarity I’ve copied the extract below from the White Paper. Extract from “Do Not Pay Too Much for Your Database Licensing” Standby Server Customers often implement standby server to make sure the application continues to function in case primary server fails. Standby server continuously receives updates from the primary server and will take over the role of primary server in case of failure in the primary server. Following are comparisons of how each vendor supports standby server licensing. SQL Server Customers does not need to license standby (or passive) server provided that the number of processors in the standby server is equal or less than those in the active server. Oracle DB Oracle requires customer to fully license both active and standby servers even though the standby server is essentially idle most of the time. IBM DB2 IBM licensing on standby server is quite complicated and is different for every editions of DB2. For Enterprise Edition, a minimum of 100 PVUs or 25 Authorized User is needed to license standby server.   The following graph compares prices based on a database application with two processors (dual-core) and 25 users with one standby server.   • Softbody with complex geometry

    I have modeled an Handball, based on the tutorial here, with a custom texture. Now I am trying to animate this model with the reactor module as a soft body. Therefor I have watched and tried a lot of tutorials and for animating a simple Sphere everything works fine. But if i try to use the model I have created, than it results in the crash of max or an animation that shows a crystal like structure that transforms itself to another crystal. Is it possible to animate this kind of complex geometry as a soft body and am i just setting the values wrong? If yes, which are the important ones I should check? Thanks in advance!     I create a butterfly model in 3ds max with some basic animation, however trying to export it to .FBX format I get the following exception.. any idea how i can transform the wings to be orthogonal.. One or more objects in the scene has local axes that are not perpendicular to each other (non-orthogonal). The FBX plug-in only supports orthogonal (or perpendicular) axes and will not correctly import or export any transformations that involve non-perpendicular local axes.     I need your help with 3D transformations. I have a sphere and I want to deform it by a mouse click or a mouse move. I want to make a furrow or to bite off a piece of the sphere without any breaks of 3D material. It is possible in WPF, but if the quantity of 3D points is more then 25 000, it creates some freezes in a dynamic mode (animation breaks), because the object of MeshGeometry3D class should be reconstructed every time to stop the breaks of 3D material. Give me advice about tools for the realization of my task. Maybe it can be done with the help of DirectX/Direct3D or OpenGL? I am a newcomer in these collections of APIs, but I would like to study them. I need to integrate the process of transformation in WPF application.

  • How can I create a fast, real-time, fixed length glowing ray?

    Similar to the disintegrate skill in Diablo 3. It should not light other objects in scene. Just glowing and animated. Like in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_c4x6aQAG8. Should I use pack of pre-computed glow sources textures for each frame of ray animation like in this article http://http.developer.nvidia.com/GPUGems/gpugems_ch21.html and put it in bloom shader? Is there any other efficient ways to achive this effect? I'm using OpenGL ES 2.0.

  • Ubuntu turns off instead of suspend / sleeping

    I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 on my notebook as the main OS. How ever, I've been facing a serious problem: Every time I try to suspend it, or it just stays idle for a while, the computer shuts down, instead of suspending. It actually seems to be suspended, but when I press the button the awake it, it turns on, the open works are all lost. How can i fix this? P.s: On windows 7 the suspend / sleep resumes just fine.   • Recommended workflows for Apache virtual hosts?

    I do a lot of local web development work on my Ubuntu machine, and I'm constantly setting up virtual hosts in Apache. I don't need to do hard core server management, but I am getting tired of the repetitive process of manually adding config directives to files in /etc/apache2/sites-available/ and then updating the /etc/hosts file. Is there a more efficient or more automated way to do all this that I'm missing? Maybe something like rapache but that's actually working?

  • Google Earth freezes during zoom-in on Intel processors with integrated graphics

    When I zoom in at a certain zoom level, Google Earth makes my system freeze completely so that I have to power off or reboot I use Kubuntu 12.04 and my laptop has an Intel(R)Core(TM)i3-2310M CPU @2.10GHz with HD3000 graphics. I installed intel-gpu-tools and tried to fix it with sudo intel_reg_write 0x2120 0x1206800 as explained [here][1], but that didn't work. I wonder if there any other solution out there...
