• Javascript Grid that can handle sections in a table

  I am making an ASP.NET MVC application that lets a user design a questionnaire that other users can fill out. Now, questionnaires, rather than just having a list of questions, often have sections or subsections that could have headings and not the other columns that an ordinary row (a question) would have. I want a JS Grid that can handle sections and subsections elegantly. I tried using JQGrid, but there the options I have are limited to a "Grid as Subgrid" structure. The appearance becomes quite complex and unlike a questionnaire. Is there a Javascript Grid or a JQuery plugin that can handle this? I can write my own HTML table as long as the JS app will format the table and will add some user-friendliness to the table.

  The MovieLens data set provides a table with columns: userid | movieid | tag | timestamp I have trouble reproducing the way they pruned the MovieLens data set used in: Tag Informed Collaborative Filtering, by Zhen, Li and Young In 4.1 Data Set of the above paper, it writes "For the tagging information, we only keep those tags which are added on at least 3 distinct movies. As for the users, we only keep those users who used at least 3 distinct tags in their tagging history. For movies, we only keep those movies that are annotated by at least 3 distinct tags." I tried to query the database: select TMP.userid, count(*) as tagnum from (select distinct T.userid as userid, T.tag as tag from tags T) AS TMP group by TMP.userid having tagnum >= 3; I got a list of 1760 users who labeled 3 distinct tags. However, some of the tags are not added on at least 3 distinct movies. Any help is appreciated.

• SQL decimal conversion error

  Hey, my app parses numerous txt files in a directory that are almost all formatted identically, then inserts the values into columns of my sql db. However, there are a few files that the app has come across where a value is 'blank' instead of '0.0', so the application fails stating that it cannot convert that value to numeric. I can use MS Access to design 2 queries, create the joins the fruit/country names table with the Sweetness table perform crosstab query However I'm having trouble doing this in a single query. I've attempted nesting the 1st query's SQL into the 2nd, but it doesn't seem to work. Unfortunately, my solution needs to be be wholly SQL, as it is an embedded SQL query (cannot rely on query designer in MS Access, etc.). Any help greatly appreciated. Prembo.

• Setting tabindex in dynamic table vertically then horizontally

  I have a page that is currently generating dynamically created textboxes in a table format. The users are requesting that the tab order be changed from horizontal-vertical to vertical-horizontal. I know that you can use the tabindex attribute to control the tab ordering, but I can't for the life of me figure out the right way to get the sequential number properly for the textboxes. I guess this is more of a math question than anything else! FYI, the textboxes are made while looping two different collections. First collection looped to make the rows, for each row, second collection (which is a property of the first collection objects) is looped to create the columns. Any help would be greatly appreciated. • ModX: Selecting and outputting specific menu items using Wayfinder

  tI've been trying to output specific menu items, also wanting to change the names of some, without satisfying results. The problem is that I have three different menu setups throughout the site - the header split into two sections and the footer divided into a couple of columns. This is what I've tried so far - [[Wayfinder? &startId=0 &level=1 &limit=5 &excludeDocs=49,61,55]] While it works excluding all the other links isn's the most optimal solution as there are 11 in total plus I want to be able to 1. rearrange the order and 2. change the names of two of them. Is this possible at all using the Wayfinder or do I have to create a snippet? Thanks in advance.

• InvalidOperationException sequence contains more than one element even when only one element

  I have three tables, tblCompany table, tblParts table and a link table between them tblLinkCompanyParts. Since tblLinkCompanyParts is a link table so the columns that it has are LinkCompanyPartID(primary key), CompanyID from tblCompany table and PartID from tblParts as foreign keys. I have tied them up in the dbml file. In code if I write LinkCompanyParts.Parts (where LinkCompanyParts is an object of the tblLinkCompanyParts type) to get to the corresponding Part object I get the "InvalidOperationException: Sequence constains more than one element". I have looked at the data in the database and there is only one Parts record associated with the LinkCompanyPartID. The stack trace reads like at System.Linq.Enumerable.SingleOrDefault[TSource](IEnumerable`1 source) at System.Data.Linq.EntityRef`1.get_Entity() at ... I read about SingleOrDefault vs FirstOrDefault but since the link table should have a one-one mapping therefore I think SingleOrDefault should work and besides "SingleOrDefault" statement is being generated behind the scenes in the designer.cs file at the following line return this._Part.Entity; Any ideas?

  I'm not sure how to do this without getting an error. Here is a simplified example of my problem. Say I have this data frame DF a b c d 1 2 3 4 2 3 4 5 3 4 5 6 Then I have a variable x <- min(c(1,2,3)) Now I want do do the following y <- DF[a == x] But when I try to refer to some variable like "x" I get an error because R is looking for a column "x" in my data frame. I get the "undefined columns selected" error How can I do what I am trying to do in R?

  Hey, I have a problem with sorting NSTableColumn contents. In my NSTableView there are three columns: File, Size, Path. The contents are stored in NSMutableArray. Each object in this array is a NSDictionary containing three keys: file, size and path - value for each is a NSString. In Interface Builder, in each Table Column's attributes I can choose sorting options: Selector: IB entered "compare:" which I think is ok, because I compare NSStrings. Sort Key - and that's the problem I think - I don't know what to enter here. Any clues? If you've got questions about my code, please ask.

• Echoing a pseudo column value after a COUNT

  Hi Gang... Please don't beat me if this is elementary. I searched and found disjointed stuff relating to pseudo columns. Nothing spot on about what I need. Anyway... I have a table with some rows. Each record has a unique ID, an ID that relates to another entity and finally a comment that relates to that last entity. So, I want to COUNT these rows to basically find what entity has the most comments. Instead of me explaining the query, I'll print it SELECT entity_id, COUNT(*) AS amount FROM comments GROUP BY entity_id ORDER BY amount DESC The query does just what I want, but I want to echo the values from that pseudo column, 'amount' Can it be done, or should I use another method like mysql_num_rows?   I'm trying to use a GridView to display a list of components in ASP.NET. I'm trying to make it editable at the same time. One of the columns is a string that should be selected out of a list when the user edits the row. So I've tried the following: Convert the BoundField row to an ItemTemplate Add a dropbox to the template window in the gridview bound the selecteditem to the string At this point, I get an error because the list items haven't been set up in the dropbox. So I guess the two things I'm wondering are: How do I assign the items in the dropbox to a dynamically created list of options? How do I make the dropbox only appear when the row is being edited?

• Styling WPF Toolkit DataGrid Column Headers

  Hi, I'm having an issue styling the WPF Datagrid, I've styled the column headers (of type ColumnHeader). But when the data in the columns does not fill the full width of the grid an additional column is added to pad out the grid. This column ignores the ColumnHeader style and looks out of place presumably because the element has a different type, I've looked through the library in object browser but I can't find this element. I've also considered fixing the sizes so this column is unnecessary but thats not a viable option. The problem is demonstrated in the following article: http://blogs.msdn.com/jaimer/archive/2009/01/20/styling-microsoft-s-wpf-datagrid.aspx The element I mean is in the top right, just to the right of green column 3 and just above the cell with the row background arrow.

  Guys, I would love to here your ideas on this. I am creating a table which will store weekly shift hours for employees. for example: Jon works 9:00am tp 9:00pm Monday , 10:00 AM to 5:00PM on Tuseday etc.... How should i go on designing this table. I thought of 2 options. (1) For every record I can have two lines for AM and PM and have columns for Monday to Sunday ID | ParentID | Type | Monday | Tuseday ......Sunday 1 | 1 | AM | 9:00 | 9:00 12:00 2 | 1 | PM | 9:00 | 5:00 02:00 3 | 2 | AM | 10:00 | 4 | 2 | PM | 10:00 | (2) I can save Preference in XML format in one column ID | Info 1 | |Hours|Monday|9:00 AM - 9:00PM|Monday|Tuseday........|Hours Any better ideas ? My Requirement : At runtime , I get a string which contains a className ( could be A or B). I want to dynamically create an object of this class along with invoking the constructor. • How do you design a database to allow fast multicolumn searching?

  I am creating a real estate search from RETS data, but this is a general question. When you have a variety of columns that you would like the user to be able to filter their search result by, how do you optimize this? For example, http://www.charlestonrealestateguide.com/listings.php has 16 or so optional filters. Granted, he only has up to 11,000 entries (I have the same data), but I don't imagine the search is performed with just a giant WHERE AND AND AND ... clause. Or is this typically accomplished with one giant multicolumn index? Newegg, Amazon, and countless others also have cool & fast filtering systems for large amounts of data. How do they do it? And is there a database optimization reason for the tendency to provide ranges instead of empty inputs, or is that merely for user convenience?

  Hi, I am using a dataset on the server, in this dataset I have a datatable that calls a stored procedure and returns column names from three tables. I call this stored procedure using a web service. I manage to show all the column names in my combobox but when I want to click a button and insert selected column name into a richtextbox I get System.Data.DataRowView in the textbox instead. There's this webpage where the tables are rendered from dynamic context (from multiple different datasources, and each of them uses a different layout to represent essentially the same real world concept). As a result, this table is binded to a bean, and it's columns/layout are generated from this bean. Now I need to add a command link on a specific column, equivalent to <a4j:commandLink value="#{actBean.Ids}" action="#{actBean.genDetails}"> <f:setPropertyActionListener target="#{actBean.Ref}" value="#{cont}"/> </a4j:commandLink> in a JSF page. • GXT - link two components height

  Hi! I want to have a panel, with two columns. The first column will contain a list of beans, and the right one a form panel for editing those beans. What I want to do, is that list height is the same as height of the form panel on the right. My list of beans will be larger and larger over time, so it's height will probably exceed form height. When that happens, there should be a scrollbar showed for the list. I also don't want to set explicit size for list and my form panel (it should be flexible because some time I will add or remove some form fields). I'm basically new to GXT.
