• How to get data from a bluetooth device that is not visible?

  I just bought a Fitbit One which includes Bluetooth 4.0 to sync with mobile devices. Currently libfitbit does not include support for bluetooth syncing, so I would like to see how much data I can get out of the device that I can pass onto the libfitbit devs so that they can explore bluetooth support. I ran: hcitool scan which unfortunately did not return any devices. I also used blueman to scan for devices and nothing was found either. Therefore I am assuming that the bluetooth radio in the device is not visible by default. Can anyone recommend any ways to get data out of the device that could be helpful?

• Dell M4600 with nVidia Quadro 2000M hangs on boot when external monitor is connected

  I have a problem with my fresh installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on my Dell M4600: nVidia quadro 2000M i7-2860 16GB ram 128GB SSD Dell/Samsung 750GB HDD IPS RGB laptop display When it is connected via DP++ to the external Dell U2311H monitor, it hangs on boot or when wakening from suspend. If I detach the DP cable it boots normally. I have tried all combinations that I have found, as adding to grub: "no splash", "boot=pci", "acpi=off", etc... I have also changed in nVidia X settings that external monitor is the primary one and also tried to delete monitor.xml file. There is no change it hangs each time after grub. It starts to load daemons then both screens are blank and then completely hangs with beep sound. What I discovered is if I detach the cable and wait for about 2 sec after grub starts booting and then physically connect DP cable while the Ubuntu is still booting everything works normally and I have a picture on my external screen while the laptop screen is off, just as I wanted. Do you maybe know how to solve this issue? Thank You.

• Efficient way of detecting a touched object in a game?

  Imagine a Sims-like 2D game for a touch based mobile phone where one can interact with virtually any object in the scene. How can I efficiently detect which object is being touched by the player? In my short experience, looping through all the visible objects in the scene and checking if they're touched has so far done the job, but when there may be many many moving objects in the screen that sounds kind of inefficient isn't it? Keeping the visible moving objects list can consume time in itself as one may have to loop through all of them each frame. Other solutions I've thought are: Spatial hashing. Divide the screen as a grid and place the visible objects in the corresponding bucket. Detection of the clicked object is fast but there's additional overhead for placing the objects in the correct bucket each frame. Maintaining a quad-tree. Moving objects have to be rearranged all the time, the previous solution looks better. What is usually done in this case?

Very typical example is suppose I have a 728x90 ads on header. Or if i do a mobile first approach i would need different versions of ad sizes for different view posts but google doesn't allow more than three ad unit per page (as far as i know).   Is it theoretically possible to dynamicaly animate scene with 100-150 400 poly characters meshes on high-end GL ES 2.0 mobile devices or i definetley should use prerendered keyframe animation? Scene have only one light source and precalculated shadow maps. View from top like in Warcraft 3. No any other meshes or objects. 2d collision detecting between objects calculated via spatial hashing. It can be any other algorithm besides ragdoll, but it must supply fast and simple skeletal animation for frame with 100+ low poly meshes for each mesh. Any ideas?

So the question is, what other sources of requirements there are when an analyst is gathering the information? Lets consider a desktop app for mobile operator. As for the comment, I do not think this is a broad question as the books usually mention 1-2 sources. I would like to know more, if anyone can help.

What does it mean? I need your comment and responses on these points. Is not using JavaScript and switching to libraries like jQuery worth it?   I'm about to hire freelance contractors to do small pieces of my web projects. Is it standard to allow them to put the project on their portfolio? Say a simple debugging task getting a specific mobile problem fixed in <5 hours. I'm just concerned as it could potentially dilute my company's portfolio by having it listed by each contractor when in fact the majority of work is done by me. I'm trying to build a portfolio here as an agency. I think it's a risk for my company since I'm working hard to get clients and the whole point is putting projects on my portfolio. Am I wrong here? Is there an standard policy for this? Perhaps a limited policy whereby attribution is required to the agency? Did exactly X for agency Y (link).

  I have been trying to sort out my Hauppauge WinTV 900H USB Tuner. Here in the UK, we do not have Analogue TV any more as we are fully converted to digital. I have had this working in Windows a while ago, but am having no joy in Ubuntu 13.04 all I get is a blue screen and no settings for the UK. Can anyone advise me how to set this up on my laptop. I have tried: Does Hauppauge WinTV HVR-900 (r2) [USB ID 2040:6502] work with ubuntu 12.04 LTS? I am using TVTime I have also read this page, which makes me think that this unit can only receive Analogue signals, which are no longer transmitted in the UK (which could be my problem!) Laptop Specifications: Intel® Core™ i3-2350M CPU @ 2.30GHz × 4 Intel® Sandybridge Mobile 6MB RAM Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  hi people i hope you can help a little bit , i appreciate your time look: i have a this desktop i7 2600, 8gb ram ddr3, board intel dh61ww, Geforce Nvidia GT520-cn 2Gb ddr3, i just install ubuntu 64bits 12.04 kernel 3.2.0-23-generic , i want to setup two monitors samsung led 22" and get start mi video card 1) i download and installed nvidia driver 295.59 and also try with 302.17 to apt-update and upgrade, apt-get install build-essential linux-headers-$(uname -r), apt-get remove --purge nvidia*, apt-get remove --purge xserver-xorg-video-nouveau, vim /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf blacklist vga16fb blacklist nouveau blacklist rivafb blacklist nvidiafb blacklist rivatv sh NVIDIA.run, sudo service lightdm start, reboot, nvidia-xorgconf 2)after reboot i get 800x600 and nvidia-settings say this. You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver. • What are the benefits of Android way of "saving memory" - explicitly passing Context objects everywhere?

  Turned out, this question is not easy to formulate for me, but let's try. In Android, pretty much any UI object depends on a Context, and has defined lifetime. It also can destroy and recreate UI objects and even whole application process at any time, and so on. This makes coding asynchronous operations correctly not straightforward. (and sometimes very cumbersome) But I never have seen a real explanation, why it's done that way? There are other OSes, including mobile OSes (iOS, for example), that don't do such things. So, what are the wins of Android way (Activities & Contexts)? Does that allow Android applications to use much less RAM, or maybe there are other benefits?
