    I'm building online examination system. I have designed to table, Question and GeneralExam. The table GeneralExam contains info about the exam like name, description, duration,... Now I would like to design table GeneralQuestion, it will contain the ids of questions belongs to a general exam. Currently, I have two ideas to design GeneralQuestion table: It will have two columns: general_exam_id, question_id. It will have two columns: general_exam_id, list_question_ids (string/text). I would like to know which designing is better, or pros and cons of each designing. I'm using Postgresql database.

    I'm using Postfix with imap and pop servers running on ubuntu linux. I want to change the the location of Maildir folder from user's home directory to some other shared folder so that all mail is in one place. I also have problem sending local mails to users who does not have a home directory (e.g. www-data), the system users created by default. I'm getting the following error. postfix/local[32123]: DCE1D221BBD: to=<www-data@********>, orig_to=<www-data>, relay=local, delay=33, delays=33/0/0/0.12, dsn=5.2.0, status=bounced (maildir delivery failed: create maildir file /var/www/Maildir/tmp/1382169296.P32123.********: Permission denied) I'd like to have a folder structure similar to this: /all-mail/<user-name>/<mail-goes-here>

  • Trouble switching to Dvorak on Ubuntu 12.04

    I've decided to switch to Dvorak on my Ubuntu machine, but I'm having some trouble: First, I attempted to do this through the GUI -- System Settings - Keyboard Layout - add layout (plus sign) - English(programmer Dvorak). This didn't work at first, so I restarted my machine. It seemed to work at the password prompt (if only because QWERTY did not), but I couldn't get it to accept my password. I used the virtual keyboard option to enter my password with mouse clicks (the virtual keyboard was using the programmer's Dvorak Standard) and was able to get in that way. Once logged in, however, I was back to QWERTY. Second, I tried to switch on the command prompt -- $ loadkeys /usr/lib/kbd/keytables/dvorak.map The error message I received was "Couldn't get a file descriptor referring to the console " Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I've looked for a solution for these problems, but couldn't find anything.

But now I'm more and more reaching a point where I will want to add static content, descriptions of the software and help information. Information that is generally in a CMS system. How do I in the best way structure this so I can still work with the application. Yet maintaining the look and feel of the rails application? Do write a CMS in my app? That seems a bit far fetched. Are there any Gems that do this? What is the de facto standard for architecting this scenario?

I want to start making iPhone apps, and there are lots of guides for that. Embracing my inner Hyde, however, I want to first learn about the iOS system architecture. If user belong to a specific group or businesss group, the GUI:s logotype should be changed into group's logotype after the user has entered user name and password. All user use the same database with different GUI. Right information of unassigned, modified and resolved bug case will be displayed based on what group or business group that the user is assigned to. All information will display after the user has logged in. Enable to create 1 or more super user (administrator) and regular user. Right user with right group or business group will retrieve right information. Non functional requirement: The bugging tracker take place in a webbapplication. All information must use web browser to view all information.

  • HD Video on Pandaboard ES

    I am running Ubuntu 11.10 on my Pandaboard ES. I attempted to playback a 720p / 1080p video. In both cases, the videos were highly jittery and the audio seemed to be plagued with something that seemed to be white noise (sounds like white noise, but it definitely is not white noise). I was using VLC media player for playback and was running XFCE4 as the desktop ewnvironment. The system monitor graph indicates both the CPU cores running ~100%. Lower resolution videos seemed to play without problems. How do I play 1080 / 720 HD videos on pandaboard? Thanks in advance.

  • Freezes for unknown reasons, causing fan to go crazy on a Portege laptop

    I have recently installed Natty on a new Toshiba Portege laptop. I find it extremely irritating that the system freezes frequently, about every other time I use the computer. Then the fan goes crazy and I have to force-shutdown. It seems to happen no matter what I do; I encountered this problem when using Firefox, LibreOffice, Adobe Reader - probably when using only terminals too, but I'm not certain. It may be fan-related, because the computer seems to get heated up compared compared to earlier, but I am not sure about that. Any ideas why this could be happening?

    I don't have a great background in information organisation / retrieval, but I know of a few ways of dealing with the problem. For structured information, it's possible to go OOish - everything "has-a" or "has-many" something else, and you navigate the graph to find relationships between things. For unstructured information, you have techniques like text search and tagging. What resources - articles or books - are there that summarise the CS theory behind these techniques or could introduce me to others? I'm developing a system that needs to handle capture and retrieval of information that ranges from necessarily unstructured (advice about X) to structured (list of Xs that relate to Ys) to a combination (Ys that relate to the advice about X) and I'd like to get some insight into how to do it properly.

    In a garbage collection based system, what is the most effective way to handle a read only array if such a structure does not exist natively in the language. Is it better to return a copy of an array or allow other classes to retrieve copies of the objects stored in the array one by one? @JustinSkiles: It is not very broad. It is performance related and can actually be answered specifically for two general cases. You only need very few items: in this situation it's more effective to retrieve copies of the objects one by one. You wish to iterate over 30% or more objects. In this cases it is superior to retrieve all the array at once. This saves on functions calls. Function calls are very expansive when compared to reading directly from an array. A good specific answer could include performance, reading from an array and reading indirectly through a function. It is a simple performance related question.

I am looking for an open source solution, but I am also interested in commercial ones, to have a comparison of features and prices, etc. thanks for everybodys suggestions - pros and cons to it are very wellcome ;) well, it shouldn't has a flash component multi languages :) would be great an extra mobile-view is preferred the extra extra bonus for such a system would be a very good wordpress compatibility p.s. sorry for my english well ...     Our game (Android based) traces how long it takes to do the world logic updates, and how long it takes to a render a frame to the device screen. These traces are collected every frame, and displayed at a constant interval (currently every 1 second). I've seen games where on-screen data of various engine subsystems is displayed, with the time they consume (either in text) or as horizontal colored bars. I am wondering how to implement such a feature?
