• Handling big user IDs returned by FQL in PHP

  I'm using FQL to retrieve a list of users from Facebook. For consistency I get the result as JSON. This causes a problem - since the returned JSON encodes the user IDs as numbers, json_decode() converts these numbers to floating point values, because some are too big to fit in an int; of course, I need these IDs as strings. Since json_decode() does its own thing without accepting any behavior flags, I'm at a loss. Any suggestions on how to resolve this?

• PHP auto refresh page without losing user input

  I'm working on a PHP collaboration software project. I have a page that shows the latest updates from other users who are adding content to the database, but also has a form input to allow the user to enter text. I am currently using this code to refresh the page automatically every 30 seconds: header('Refresh: 30'); The problem is that the header code refreshes the entire page, and not just what is pulled from the database. Is there any PHP code that will just pull any new data from the database without refreshing the entire page? If someone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

• 2 different php request at same time per user

  I have a website which has 2 pages , (home_page.php and action_page.php)Action page takes aprx. 2 minutes to completely load (server side takes 2 minutes) . But if user clicks to home page link while action page is loading , browser does not go to home page , until action page is completely loaded . First of all what is the reason of this ? (bowser ? php ? apache ?) and how can I avoid this ? Thank you

  Hi all, I want to create a google reader application that for an user(google account)I need to get all its subscriptions, for each subscription all the feeds and for each feed all its items. Please help me with some urls in order to create the post requests for grabbing this information. Since the google reader api is not yet released I could not find any documentation for this. • calling a method on the parent page from a user control

  I am using a user control that I created (just a .cs file not an .ascx file), that does some magic and depending on a value generated by the control, I need it to do something on the parent page that is 'hosting' the control. It needs to call a method under certain circumstances (method is on the parent control). the control is placed on the parent page like so: <customtag:MyControl ID="something" runat="server" /> I'm dynamically creating buttons etc on the control itself but when a button is clicked, let's say for example that there's a text box on the control and if the value of the textbox is "bob" it needs to call a method on the page that's housing the control...how can I accomplish this?

• Redirecting user from an old web to another in Sharepoint

  Hi all: I want to add the ability to redirect users when they visit certain old sites. The URL of the old sites are unknown, but the server name is the same, e.g. Old site url: http://sharepoint/mySite/default.aspx New site url: http://sharepoint/myNewSite/... There are a lot of other pages within mySite, most of which must be redirected to the new site, but there are exceptions (e.g. user can still view the documents within the site). I thought I have to do this programmatically by somehow capturing the http request and read the url myself. Being no sharepoint guru, I had a quick google, and found that writing a web part is prehaps the best alternative for my situation. But I'm just wondering, given my situation and needs, is writing a web part, or something programmatically, really the ideal solution? Or is there a faster and quicker way to achieve what I want using Sharepoint? Thanks.

  Hello, I am developing a active messaging protocol for parallel computation that replaces TCP/IP. My goal is to decrease the latency of a packet. Since the environment is a LAN, i can replace TCP/IP with simpler protocol to reduce the packet latency. I am not writing any device driver and i am just trying to replace the TCP/IP stack with something simpler. Now I wanted to avoid copying of a packet's data from user space to kernel space and vice-versa. I heard of the mmap(). Is it the best way to do this?   Hi, I am learning programming in embedded systems using Linux as my main platform. And I want to create a Device Event Management Service. This service is a user-space application/daemon that will detect if a connected hardware module triggered an event. But my problem is I don't know where should I start. I read about Netlink implementation for userspace-kernelspace communication and it seems its a good idea but not sure if it is the best solution. But I read that the UDEV device manager uses Netlink to wait a "uevent" from the kernel space but it is not clear for me how to do that. I read about polling sysfs but it seems it is not a good idea to poll filesystem. What do you think the implementation that should I use in my service? Should I use netlink(hard/no clue how to) or just polling the sysfs(not sure if it works)? Thanks

• Faking user interaction on CMS

  I'm working with a CMS and need to import data to it using typical html forms. The data itself is in csv files with one page per row. Such is the CMS that importing directly to db isn't possible due to the complexity of the design. It's pretty important that i "fake" usual user interaction because the CMS does a lot of background work that's crucial for the import. Basically, for each row in the csv file, I need to copy a csv column to a html textfield, or select a checkbox, or click a certain button. One major issue is mapping the data in the csv to actions in the CMS. So if one column contains the string 'foobar' is really means "set the firstName dropdown widget to 'foobar'". Is there a tool to automate this? I´ve been looking at AutoHotKey, Selendium, Web-Harvester and many other tools but I'm not convinced they are the correct tools. The main problem is being able to interact with the html pages in a easy way.

• What format do I use to store a relatively small amount of user data

  I am writing a small program for our local high school (pro bono). The program has an interface allows the user to enter school holidays. This is a simple stand alone Windows app. What format should I use to store the data? A big relational data is obviously overkill. My initial plan was to store the data in an XML file. Co-workers have been suggesting that I use JSON files, Access Databases, SQL Lite, and SQL Server Express. There was even a suggestion of old school INI files.

• Looking for jQuery slideshow where a user can hide/show a block of text (link, caption)

  I'm looking to implement a fairly basic jQuery slideshow. One that automatically loops through a set number of images. The snag I'm running into is i'd like to have a little icon in the corner of the picture, that when clicked, brings up a transparent black bar across the bottom with some text and perhaps a link. Has anybody come across anything like this?   I have a ASP.NET MVC page, which call WCF logic. The system is single-signon using NTML. Both the ASP page and the WCF will use the UserIdentity to get user login information. Other then NTML, I will also have a Form based authorization (with AD) in same system. The ASP page, is it simple and I can have it from HttpContext.Current.Request.LogonUserIdentity. However, it seem it is missing from the WCF which call by the ASP, not from browser. How to configure to pass the ID pass from the ASP to the WCF?

  When a user signs up the system has to check that they are old enough to do so, in this example they have to be atleast 8 years old $minAge = strtotime(date("d")."-".date("m")."-".(date("Y")-8)); $dob = strtotime($day."-".$month."-".$year); $minAge = 01-03-2004, $dob = 01-02-2011 I basically need to make sure this person was born before 2004 but I want to know whether I have to convert the timestamps to do a comparison or whether there is a more efficient way.   Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone has any idea on how you can create a view that looks like the user profile view in apps like Tweetie, where there are seemingly multiple tables with a couple of normal (straight up and down tables) and then two rows of six cells, which in Tweeties case have the number of followers, following etc. I'm trying to make a similar view for my app, but can't seem to find out the best way to create it.   I am using an AXObserver to monitor when a window is closed. In the callback, I am just raising an NSNotification. All working well. What is the correct syntax for attaching some user data as refcon? The working call looks like this: err6 = AXObserverAddNotification(observerTable, tableRef, kAXUIElementDestroyedNotification, nil); and the callback specified when I create the observer has the signature: static void cbTableClosed (AXObserverRef observer, AXUIElementRef element, CFStringRef notification, void *refcon) I want to replace refcon with an object of my own, but don't know how to change either line. The obvious objective-c type changes through up warnings.

Can anybody give me a query that would return the right order of creation of those items based on their dependencies ?   I have the following tables: users (id, username, ... ) roles (id, name) roles_users (user_id, role_id) I am wondering how I can create a nice sort of user-role-grid from that which an admin can use to administer roles to users in a clear way. What I would like is basically a table full of checkboxes sort of like this: Login Editor Admin Alice ¦ ¦ ¦ Bob ¦ ? ? Carol ¦ ¦ ? [Apply] Generating the table isn't too much of a deal, but I am very unsure how to handle it when it comes to how to name all the checkboxes and especially how to read and update the database in a not too clumsy way. Does anyone have any good advice or pointers on how to do this in a mostly clean way? I'm using the Kohana 3 framework, if there is anything there that can make this even easier, but I of course welcome any answer.

• Event handling to detect if user clicks a 'Like' button in XFBML page

  I have a Facebook connect app / canvas IFrame app which has a Like control for a fanpage. I'd like to detect when the user clicks the Like button to be able to display additional info (a discount coupon code). I'm using the latest Javascript API but the events that can be handled doesn't seem to include detection of social widget controls. The documentation for the Like Plugin doesn't show any events. However I know its definitely possible because if I have two Like buttons on a page they both instantly update each other if I like or unlike whatever it is.
