  Server 2003 SP2 (not R2) with 2 new Win 7 Pro workstations. Home Drive is set in AD (not GP) to map to \\server\users\username. Home Drive map fails, other network drives map correctly. No error logged on server or PC, Win 7 shows "Could not reconnect all network drives." There is no Y: (Home Drive) listed, either in the GUI or via Net Use. Manual map via batch file in startup group with the same path works correctly? Home Drive map works correctly on XP workstations.

• Raid recovery in gigabyte GA-8I945 Pro

  This was a working machine until a few days ago. And now it won't boot into the OS, during startup if makes clicking sounds (I think from one of the drives). Installed OS: Windows 2003 Web edition Hardware: Gigabyte GA-8I945P Pro , 2*160G Sata in RAID1 configuration , 2 Volumes – 25G and the rest. When I installed windows on it, during setup, I pressed F6 and used ICH7DH drivers of RAID. The manual for the MOBO says: Step 1: After the POST memory test begins and before the operating system boot begins, look for a message which says "Press to enter Configuration utility" (Figure 4). Press CTRL+ I to enter the RAID BIOS setup utility. But the machine never shows this message. BIOS SATA RAID/AHCI Mode is set to RAID. Any ideas or pointers on what I can do to recover my data? I read through this RFC but could not find any reference for this statement. Is the NULL RR obsolete or not? Is it acceptable to use it as placeholder? • How do I get around restrictive email policies by ISP?

  Apparently we've been restricted (though packet filtering) to some arbitrarily small and untenable number of emails a day by some bankrupt ISP (and they say that's how it's always been chortle). We've been using our own mail server for the last 15 years, and only recently they've been giving us guff. Is there a way for a legitimate business to email their clients, who really want to receive these emails, by bypassing the ISP? The way we've been doing it is by breaking up into 20 or 30 emails, but that gets complicated and requires a lot of manual labor by the receptionist, and unless she's really careful we wind up emailing lots of people twice. So what are my options (Hosted Email, Lithuanian Proxy Server, Different ISP, not writing awful PHP that sends out zillions of emails and gets us blacklisted)?

Somebody accidentally loaded the instance incorrectly, so I was hopping to uninstall and reinstall. • How to add "most recent emails from this user" to Gmail inbox as a sidebar

  I use and love gmail. However, since i use email for customer support, I'm always doing a cross reference lookup via the search feature to see my past conversations with the person whose email I'm reading. I'd love to have a right sidebar widget that shows me, for any email I choose to read, the list of previous conversations/emails with that person. Is this possible? I'm using Chrome Ideally, this sidebar would bump or replace the contextual ads that now display over there.

  I am using a Cisco 6500 series with an SSO redundancy configuration. The show redundancy output is as follows: Hardware Mode = Duplex Configured Redundancy Mode = sso Operating Redundancy Mode = rpr Maintenance Mode = Disabled Communications = Up I would assume the device is operating in RPR mode although SSO is configured. What could cause this? Shouldn't the operating mode be SSO? Is there a way for me to copy/save/transfer my "start menu" configuration, meaning the grouping and ordering of the elements on the Start screen, between user profiles? Is it in the registry?   Need to clone and restore existing 64GB HDD onto a 256GB HDD, can't manage to gain access to the internals of this laptop. I checked with Samsung, they do not make manuals available nor will they help over the phone as to how to remove the bottom cover of this Samsung NP900X1A Laptop.   I have an HP LaserJet 4200 printer that is acting really weird. I can print from internet just fine, no problem... but when I try to print from a document used in microsoft word, for example, I always get "Manual Feed Tray 1". I have racked my brain on this and cannot get it figured out. It's a networked printer and only an administrator account can make changes to it, I have also reset the printer back to factory settings, uninstalled and reinstalled onto the pc's and server it is connected to. Running out of hair since I'm pulling it all out... please help.

• Windows Server 2003 guest on Xen frequently stops responding

  I'm running a Windows Server 2003 guest instance in Xen 3.x. This DomU runs fine for a day or two, then stops responding — I don't get any network response, and I can no longer connect to Xen's VNC console for this DomU. xm list shows this: Name ID Mem VCPUs State Time(s) Domain-0 0 6508 8 r----- 1161159.4 [A working Linux DomU] 1 512 1 -b---- 68711.1 [The hung Windows DomU] 5 512 1 ------ 67234.2 [Another working Linux DomU] 3 512 1 -b---- 163036.4 (What does the ------ mean? The xm manual explains what each of the six states mean, but not what no-state means.) If I xm destroy and then xm create the Windows DomU again, it boots right back up (with the Windows alert The previous system shutdown at [...] was unexpected.), and then stops responding after another day or two. I checked /var/log/xen/*.log, but no log messages are generated at the time the server stops responding. How should I proceed in troubleshooting this?

• Media Center is sending duplicate #'s when changing channels

  I recently switched from cable to DirecTV (satellite). I went through the "Set up TV signal" in Media Center, and I went through the manual setup of the remote as it didn't recognize the DirecTV remote. All seemed okay, except sometimes (often - about 1/2 the time) when I select a channel in Media Center's guide it sends 5527 instead of 527 or 5446 instead of 546 - so it doesn't change the channel correctly. (I see the numbers show up on the TV screen before the channel changes.) I tried re-learning the remote, but the problem is still there. (Media Center is changing channels through the IR Blaster attached to the front of the DirecTV box.)

• How can I use encryption with Gmail?

  I'm currently reading Cory Doctorow's novel Little Brother which includes a part about encrypted messaging, and even wrapping messages first in my private key and then your public key. I'd like to play around with that but from what I've googled so far it seems to be a rather convoluted process, requiring installing several program components, and creating an encrypted message requires doing some manual file manipulation. I'm surprised that I can't find something like a Firefox plugin that integrates encryption into Gmail. I've seen that there is a Thunderbird PGP plugin, but I don't use T-bird. I also saw a blog post that Google apparently toyed with PGP support in 2009, but nothing has appeared in the meantime. Question: To use encryption with Gmail, is there a simpler method than creating a file locally, then encrypting that file, and finally attaching it to a regular Gmail message?

  The Ubuntu 10.04 server has eth0 Internet interface configured by means of an ISP's DHCP. At the same time the server has static eth0 LAN interface to which it provides masquerading (NAT) and LAN-internal DHCP service (dhcp3-server). As far as I've understood the manual, I had to hardcode DNS servers to advertise through LAN DHCP with option domain-name-servers in dhcpd.conf. But what if the ISP changes his DNS server IP silently (we use a SOHO-class ISP, so this won't surprise me much)? Can I configure dhcpd to advertise the DNS server the server uses itself, the one gotten by its DHCP client mechanism?

  Iam trying to install one version of mysql in a LINUX machine. The system contain already another version of mysql installation. I prefer manual installation. Copy the exctracted tarball into a location and create symbolic link to that. I wish to install my mysql version without affecting already installed mysql version in the system. I created mysqld as service. But It couldn't start. • Intel RAID0 on Windows 8 not Displaying Correct Media Type

  I have my primary C Drive which consists of 2 Intel 120GB SSD Drives in a RAID0. I have a clean install of Windows 8 Pro, latest MEI software, latest RST software, latest Intel Toolbox. Prior to this I had installed Windows 8 Pro as an upgrade. When I went into the Optimize Drives while in the Upgrade installation, it showed the Media Types as Solid State Drives. However, now since I am in a brand new install, it is showing the Media Type as Hard Disk Drive. I am worried about this because of the trim not working properly. Before when in the upgrade, it showed SSD as the media type and the Optimize option would perform a manual trim. Unfortunately, my search credentials on Google are so common to many other things (ie Raid0, SSD, Windows 8, Media Type) that all I am finding are useless topics. • Time tracking similar to Paymo Plus on Debian

  PaymoPlus is free (closed source but no fees) PaymoPlus sits in my System Tray all day, and records every window/tab I open I would like to know if a similar app exists for Debian. Paymo for Windows/Mac has the additional sweet feature of being able to drag and drop working windows/tabs and the time spent into the tasks, but one can live without this. I would at least need to know which tasks got how much time in a 'sum total' calculation so I can enter that time into my Paymo reporting. Any ideas? Paymo does have a desktop widget for Linux but it is a dumb (non-sentient) manual time entry tool, not like Paymo Plus automatically recording everything being done.

• Multi-Document TOC showing in wrong order

  I had a large document that was having formatting issues, so I split it into 2 files. Chapters 1-7 are in the main doc with the TOC and a second doc has chapters 8-12. I have the following: {TOC \O "1-3" \H \Z \U} {RD \f "MCDPS Training Manual Part2.docx"} The TOC is created and has entries from both documents, however its showing the entries from Chapter 8-11 first and then Chapter 1-7. I've read that it should list them based on page numbers, but its not. Chapter 8 starts at page 121, yet its listing it first. How can I get it to show the TOC from the main doc first and then the RD?

• MS project publishing to TFS web portal display

  So, when we initially created our MPP schedule, I made use of indends / subordinates to break down the project by the various stages of the lifecycle, which is fine... no issues there... But now that I'm trying to publish this over to TFS display, it'll only pick up the actual "action items / sub-tasks" seeing as I have resource allocation specified. So for example I have an "Analysis" phase with a few items underneath, and "System Requirements" phase with the same items, so when I publish these to TFS, it won't display the "Parent" distinction between items, so both "Tasks" instances are being published in TFS under the exact same name... So, if I can't do this Automatically, I'll likely have edit each tasks with "Analysis - Item 1", "Analysis - item 2", "SRD - Item 1", "SRD - item 2"... is there a way to do this automatically, or will have to go the manual route??

  I want to install applications from my Mac OS X install disc, or be able to archive-install from it, but it's back at my house outside my current LAN. Is there a way I can remotely access my OS X install disc on my home Windows XP computer from my Snow Leopard? In my help manual it says I can do remote installs, or use another computer's disc drive remotely, but it has to be with another computer on the LAN. Is there a way to combine my mac's LAN and my windows' LAN? I think it has something to do with making a VPN; is there a way to do that which will work between Snow Leopard and XP, doesn't require additional hardware, and is preferably free? Thanks a lot!

When dialling I see in the log file the following [Jan 1 09:10:07] NOTICE[176]: chan_sip.c:14377 handle_request_invite: Call from '6001' to extension '00765243679' rejected because extension not found. The 00765243679 is a cellular number. Am I missing a configuration in order to make outbound calls? Land line, other Voip numbers and cellular calls have been tried

• Will USMT 4.0 in MDT 2010 Move/Migrate the .NK2 File for Outlook?

  We're about to begin a refresh project for about 100 XP Pro laptops and have a concern with regards to the .NK2 file which holds cached email addresses(?). If possible we'd like to have USMT move/migrate this but I can't find anything that confirms that this happens automatically or has been done before. I see lots of manual processes but at this point I'm not sure that we can use that. Has anyone done this or seen this done? Perhaps you can point me to a resource that can give me an idea how its done? Any information would be appreciated. USMT seems to get a lot of the details but missing this part seems odd.
