• Bad resolution from Displayport converter on third of three screens

  I am currently using three screens at the same time with my ATI 5770 & an active Displayport converter. The thing is that the third screen (the one using the active Displayport converter) is showing terrible resolution compared to my other two screens. The third screen is a Samsung Syncmaster P23. Two of my screens have a max resolution of 1920x1080, meanwhile the third on is only capable of 1600x1200. Do any of you know a solution to this problem?

• Showing the menu bar on multiple screens in osx

  I've just installed a new monitor on my macbook, and I noticed that the menu bar only appears on one screen or the other - I have to haul over to whichever screen has the menu if I'm using the other one, and it's a pretty frustrating process. Does anyone know if there's a setting or utility that lets you display the menu bar on both screens?

• Flickering issue in external monitor when used with Acer Aspire One D260 netbook (Intel GMA 3150)

  I recently purchased a Acer netbook, Aspire One D260. It runs flawlessly. Yesterday I bought a Samsung 23" TFT with a native resolution of 1920x1080. According to the information found in the internet and my local computer dealer, the Intel chipset can handle the native resolution of the monitor. However, this is only partly the case. I use the VGA cable to connect, the monitor instantly switches to the native resolution and now the problem: Occasionally, especially the first 2 hours after booting up, I have a flickering all over the screen, sometimes the entire screen is shaking and spinning around like crazy. I figured out that lowering the resolution avoids the flicker but this helps only for some time. I can rule out that it's the monitor's problem since I found no issues with another notebook. Right now, I have no problems with the netbook, for about 30 minutes I didn't experience any issues... But I don't know for how long, it occurs without warning :-) I'm worried that if I would bring the netbook back to the dealer and explain my problem, after testing it on an external screen in the local shop, everything works just fine... And I won't get helped with the problem because I can't prove it. (I'm currently in Thailand and over here, customer service is nothing like back home in Germany) What can I do? Is this a driver related issue? (I installed the latest GPU driver) Is it because of the VGA cable? (But why does it work sometimes without any problems and with no issues on the other notebook) I monitored the GPU/CPU temperature, nothing changes really over time.. Can it simply be a faulty GPU and is a replacement justifiable? I'm really stressed now because for the time I'm writing, the flickering didn't occur... but for sure, soon or later it will happen again.. I forgot to mention, the problem also happens if the netbook runs on battery, unplugged. So the only hardware that is plugged is the TFT screen. ...........and here it comes again, flickering has just begun. NEED HELP!   How can the Windows + S keyboard shortcut be disabled on Windows 8.1? I had Win+S mapped to take a screen capture in Windows 8 using Evernote. (not using Windows built-in PrintScr to capture the entire screen): After the update, Win+S always brings up the Search panel: A solution using RegEdit would be fine. I just need it disabled so that other capture programs, such as Evernote and Greenshot can use it (as before, pre-Win 8.1).

• quicktime recording: only a region?

  The newest QT has a feature to record or capture the current screen. My iMac 27 is too big if I want to record the whole screen. Can I designate a region or an application window for recording? I could not find a way to do that. Not sure if I have to use alternative applications to do it.

• Computer doesn't start up apart from lights/noise

  One of my computers doesn't boot up or at least nothing appears on my screen (not even the bios). It still makes some noise and the lights stay on, but not any beeping like I have heard computer make when start up fails. Before this happened my screen would occasionally have a strange image appear than crash (usually around startup). It would also sometimes just freeze without the image appearing.   How can I set and limit the resolution in Ubuntu 12 to 640x480 There's not much in the xorg.conf file anymore, so I'm guessing this is no longer the place to do it? I can't do it using the GUI either because it doesn't show me the 640x480 option. While setting the resolution the computer is connected to a normal screen but later it will be connected to a screen that only supports 640x480 and doesn't report its supported modes to the computer. The only thing in my xorg.conf (by default) is this: Section "Device" Identifier "Default Device" Option "NoLogo" "True" EndSection

• Custom Windows hotkey to refresh browser window

It would be great if I could somehow make the browser window refresh without manually switching to the browser. • Arrow keys don't work in htop on OS X in Terminal

  Not sure when it happened, or what I did (if anything), but my arrow keys don't work in htop anymore to scroll around. You should be able to press up and down to scroll up and down the process list, but they don't work. Some keys tend to be the equivalent of 'go back' or something. If I'm on the settings screen, left, up and down all go back to the main screen. htop seems to be the only affected program.

• Linux Twinview : copy window application to both screens

  I use the SUN Presenter Openoffice Extension with a twinview Ubuntu laptop. it works well : I have the video-projector with my presentation and my laptop screen with the slides (and time...). My problem is when I want to present a mono-screen application, like Firefox, gnome-terminal. It is displayed only on one monitor, which is not really efficient if you want to be interactive.   I recently purchased an Acer Aspire Timeline 3810TZ notebook. It comes equipped with 2 modes, one for power saving (screen is dimmer, etc) and another for when connected to a power source. However, I'd like to control the settings for power save mode (specifically to make the screen a bit brighter) but the system didn't seem to ship with an app installed to modify these settings. Browsing the support site proved unsuccessful also. Anything out there I can do to control the notebook's power save settings?

• Unable to mount device on Linux (XFS)

  I am unable to mount a device on my server due to error when mounting, the device is type XFS. The mount command returns message: "mount: structure needs cleaning" I've tried using xfs_check and it just returns a message saying that there are entries in the log that need relaying and that you need to run xfs_repair -L where "-L" option deletes the log file but might/will result in data loss/corruption. Does anyone know if you can access/mount the drive without repairing, or anyway to minimise data loss?

• Disable Charm bar's Touchpad gesture shortcut

Everytime I slide my finger from the right edge of the touchpad (where the slider is) toward the center (mostly accidentally), the charmbar pops up and stays on the screen until I manually click on some random spots on the screen. There's no such option in the Synaptics properties: .. nor is there any in the mouse option. Is there a way to turn this shortcut off?

Assuming an NTFS volume is protected with BitLocker, does this reduce the failure tolerance? Would a power failure during a write to an NTFS volume, that's protected with BitLocker, be more prone to corruption than on an unencrypted NTFS volume?
