• OpenGLES iPhone Depth Blending problem

  Hi, I am trying to make an OpenGLES 2.0 cube application. The idea was to have a texture (with an alpha 75%) applied to all 6 faces of the cube. This would mean that even if I rotate the cube i would be able to see all 6 faces at any given frame. Now I have enabled depth test(my app needs this!!) and blending. The Depth func is LEQUAL and blend func is SRC_ALPHA, ONE_MINUS_SRC_ALPHA. Now, the issue is that at some cube faces don't show the underlying faces. I am not able to understand this because the logic works fine with the other cube faces. Just for the record, I have disabled CULL_FACE. Thanks in advance. Regards, Puzzler

I'm looking to record the order that these buttons are pressed and enter them into an array and then compare it to another array that is static in the app. The check should be done on the Nth button press, where N equals the number of items in the other, static array. How do I A) have a button press add a value to an array B) stop after Nth button press equal to amount of numbers in the array I'm checking against and C) compare this array to the other array?

• Rails - inheritance hierarchy of classes where an subtipe can play two roles

  I need to model Owners and Rentees in an application, so you have stuff that is always owned by someone and can be rented for someone else. I first approached this problem with Single Table Inheritance because both types of person will share all attributes, so you would have a model called Person associated to a table people with Owner and Rentee inheriting from Person. The problem is that Single type inheritance discerns subtypes using a field type and therefore a record in the table can represent either an Owner or a Rentee but not both at the same time, while in the real context you can have an Owner which is renting something from another Owner and therefore that person is at the same time an Owner and a Rentee. How would you approach this problem? Would you use separated tables fro owners and rentees? Is there any other type of table inheritance in Rails?

• why my array is losing it's contents when I refresh the page?

  I have created an: var checkboxFarm = new Array(); then I want to record a checkbox status in that array, as there are 11 checkboxes. Button.addEventListener("click", function() { rp_farmAtivada(index); }, false); when clicked change the variable in the array: function rp_farmAtivada(index) { checkboxFarm[index] = !checkboxFarm[index]; }; but every time I refresh the page it loses all the checkboxes status and I'm aware that all that array gets the "undefined" value. the checkboxFarm array is defined in the beginning of the script, so it should have a global scope. Am I missing something?

• Recursive CTE with alternating tables

  I've created a SQL fiddle here. Basically, I have 3 tables BaseTable, Files, and a LinkingTable. The Files table has 3 columns: PK, BaseTableId, RecursiveId (ChildId). What I want to do is find all the children given a BaseTableId (i.e., ParentId). The tricky part is that the way the children are found works like this: Take ParentId 1 and use that to look up a FileId in the Files table, then use that FileId to look for a ChildId in the LinkingTable, if that record exists then use the RecursiveId in the LinkingTable to look for the next FileId in the Files table and so on. • Are ASCII diagrams worth my time?

  Are ASCII diagrams within source code worth the time they take to create? I could create a bitmap diagram much faster, but images are much more difficult to in line in a source file (until VS2010). For the record, I'm not talking about decorative ASCII art. Here's an example of a diagram I recently created for my code that I probably could have constructed in half the time in MS Paint. • Generate MySQL data dump in SQL from PHP

  I'm writing a PHP script to generate SQL dumps from my database for version control purposes. It already dumps the data structure by means of running the appropriate SHOW CREATE .... query. Now I want to dump data itself but I'm unsure about the best method. My requirements are: I need a record per row Rows must be sorted by primary key SQL must be valid and exact no matter the data type (integers, strings, binary data...) Dumps should be identical when data has not changed I can detect and run mysqldump as external command but that adds an extra system requirement and I need to parse the output in order to remove headers and footers with dump information I don't need (such as server version or dump date). I'd love to keep my script as simple as I can so it can be hold in an standalone file. What are my alternatives?

ALTER TABLE table_name ADD VersionNumber UNIQUEIDENTIFIER UNIQUE NOT NULL DEFAULT NEWSEQUENTIALID() GO And when ever a record is updated in the table, I would want to update this column "VersionNumber". So I create a new trigger CREATE TRIGGER [DBO].[TR_TABLE_NAMWE] ON [DBO].[TABLE_NAME] AFTER UPDATE AS BEGIN UPDATE TABLE_NAME SET VERSIONNUMBER=NEWSEQUENTIALID() FROM TABLE_NAME D JOIN INSERTED I ON D.ID=I.ID/* some ID which is used to join*/ END GO But just realized that NEWSEQUENTIALID() can only be used with CREATE TABLE or ALTER TABLE. I got this error The newsequentialid() built-in function can only be used in a DEFAULT expression for a column of type 'uniqueidentifier' in a CREATE TABLE or ALTER TABLE statement. It cannot be combined with other operators to form a complex scalar expression. Is there a workaround for this ? Edit1: Changing NEWSEQUENTIALID() to NEWID() in the trigger solves this, but I am indexing this column and using NEWID() would be sub-optimal

With the above query, if i remove the where condition, am able to achieve what i want, but problem is i also want to return related rows from LeaveApplication only if ApplicationDate is in the current year. Now with the where condition added, am only able to get rows from EmployeeInfo only if they have corresponding rows in LeaveApplications yet i just wanted rows all in EmployeeInfo

• Need help in filtering records based on radius value in solr

  Hi, I am using solr with Lucene spatial 2.9.1 as per http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/library/j-spatial/ I want to write a query, that will retrieve records within a given radius using hsin function, and using cartesian tiers as filters. For US records filtering based on radius is working fine. But for Indian records its not varying even if i change the radius . So can any one tell me if anything is wrong with the query or is there any configuration issues related to solr in order to make this work, or since record density is very less for Indian records filtering is not happening properly.Am not able to figure it out.   I have this SQL update query: UPDATE table1 SET table1.field1 = 1 WHERE table1.id NOT IN (SELECT table2.table1id FROM table2); Other portions of the application can add records to table2 which use the field table1id to reference table1. The goal here is to remove records from table1 which aren't referenced by table2. Does SQL Server automatically lock table2 with this kind of query so that a new record can't be added to table2 while executing this query? I've also considered: UPDATE table1 SET field1 = 1 WHERE 0 = (SELECT COUNT(*) FROM table2 WHERE table1.id = table2.table1id); Which seems possibly safer, but much slower (because a SELECT would be called on each row of table1 instead of just one select for the NOT IN)

  In one SQL Task can I create a table variable DELCARE @TableVar TABLE (...) Then in another SQL Task or DataSource destination and select or insert into the table variable? The other option I have considered is using a Temp Table. CREATE TABLE #TempTable (...) I would prefer to use Table Variable so that it remains in memory. But can use temp table if it is not possible to use table variable. Also I cannot use the record set destination as I need to preform straight SQL tasks on it later on.

  I have a Table called Address. I have a Trigger for insert on that table that does some spacial calculations on the address that determines what neighborhood boundaries it is in. address = new Address { Street = this.Street, City = this.City, State = this.State, ZipCode = this.ZipCode, latitude = this.Latitude, longitude = this.Longitude, YearBuilt = this.YearBuilt, LotSize = this.LotSize, FinishedSize = this.FinishedSize, Bedrooms = this.Bedrooms, Bathrooms = this.Bathrooms, UseCode = this.UseCode, HOA = this.HOA, UpdateDate = DateTime.Now }; db.AddToAddresses(address); db.SaveChanges(); In the database i can clearly see that the Trigger ran and updated the neighborhoodID in the address table for the row. I tried to just reload that record to get the assigned id like this: address = (from a in db.Addresses where a.AddressID == address.AddressID select a).First(); In the debugger i can clearly see that the address.AddressID is correct, entity doesn't update in memory. Is there any work around for this?

• Removing duplicates (within a given tolerance) from a Numpy array of vectors

  I have an Nx5 array containing N vectors of form 'id', 'x', 'y', 'z' and 'energy'. I need to remove duplicate points (i.e. where x, y, z all match) within a tolerance of say 0.1. Ideally I could create a function where I pass in the array, columns that need to match and a tolerance on the match. Following this thread on Scipy-user, I can remove duplicates based on a full array using record arrays, but I need to just match part of an array. Moreover this will not match within a certain tolerance. I could laboriously iterate through with a for loop in Python but is there a better Numponic way?

• Is there a way to split the results of a select query into two equal halfs?

  I'd like to have a query returning two ResultSets each of which holding exactly half of all records matching a certain criteria. I tried using TOP 50 PERCENT in conjunction with an Order By but if the number of records in the table is odd, one record will show up in both resultsets. Example: I've got a simple table with TheID (PK) and TheValue fields (varchar(10)) and 5 records. Skip the where clause for now. SELECT TOP 50 PERCENT * FROM TheTable ORDER BY TheID asc results in the selected id's 1,2,3 SELECT TOP 50 PERCENT * FROM TheTable ORDER BY TheID desc results in the selected id's 3,4,5 3 is a dup. In real life of course the queries are fairly complicated with a ton of where clauses and subqueries.

• Reusing an anonymous parameter in a prepared statement

  I am customizing the insert SQL generated by hibernate and have hit an issue. When Hibernate generates the query by itself, it inserts data into the first two columns of the table, but this causes a database error since all four columns of the table are non-nullable. For the insert to be performed properly, it must insert the same data into two columns of the new record. This means that I need Hibernate to bind the same data to two different parameters in the query (prepared statement) that I am writing. Is there some SQL syntax that allows me to refer to anonymous parameters bound to a prepared statement in an order different from which they are bound?   I'm writing a web app that will use twitter as its primary log on method. I've written code which gets the oauth token back from Twitter. My plan is now to Find the entry in my Users table for the twitter username retreived using the token, or create the entry if necessary Update the Users.TwitterOAuthToken column with the new OAuth token Create a permanent cookie with a random guid on the site and insert a record into my UserCookies table matching Cookie to User when a request comes in I will look for the browser cookie id in the UserCookies table, then use that to figure out the user, and make twitter requests on their behalf Write the oauth token into some pages as a js variable so that javascript can make requests on behalf of the user If the user clears his/her cookies the user will have to log in again to twitter Is this the correct process? Have I created any massive security holes? thanks!

• Dowloading a bunch of files asynchronous wait till last finished

  I'm trying to download a lot of files after downloading a sql statement must insert a record. I'm using System.Net.Client to download each file synchronously, still it could be done asynchronous. There's no relation or dependency between each download. At first I just tried to use WebClient.DownloadFileAsync but that shutted the program down and killed all the download processes/threads. Second I tried to create a wait routine something like this; while (processedFiles < totalFiles) Thread.Sleep(1000) This freezed everything. So could someone tell me which aproach to take to implement this Async?

  i have a language table which is as a foreign key in the link table , The link can be in 3 languages meaning there will be 3 rows in the link table every time i enter the record . i am using jQuery tabs to enter the records in 3 languages .
