• Query sql on string

  hi all, I have a db with users that have all this record . I would like to do a query on a data like CN=aaa, OU=Domain,OU=User, OU=bbbbbb,OU=Department, OU=cccc, OU=AUTO, DC=dddddd, DC=com and I need to group all users by the same ou=department. How can I do the select with the substring to search a department?? My idea for the solution is to create another table that is like this: --------------------------------------------------- ldapstring | society | site --------------------------------------------------- "CN=aaa, OU=Domain,OU=User, OU=bbbbbb,OU=Department, OU=cccc, OU=AUTO, DC=dddddd, DC=com" | societyName1 | societySite1 and my idea is to compare the string with these on the new table with the tag like but how can I take the society and site when the like string occurs?????   This is one of an interview question which I had recently. I would like to know others perception of approach for this problem. Question: You are given a structure which holds an employee details with two elements as int Deptartment and string Name. struct Employee { string Name; int Dept; } You are given details of N Employees among which there are N/2 employees Dept are 0's and N/2 employees dept are 1's arranged in some random order. You need to sort the employee details based on their Dept value and it should be stable i.e., the order of 1s and 0s in the original record should be maintained. For example, given the following sample data: Name Dept X1 0 X2 1 X3 0 X4 1 X5 0 after sorting the result should be: Name Dept X2 1 X4 1 X1 0 X3 0 X5 0 The algorithm should be stable and the complexity should be o(N), with constant space for additional variables (which means sorting should be done in-place).

  How to combine two functions together I have a class controlling some hardware: class Heater() def set_power(self,dutycycle, period) ... def turn_on(self) ... def turn_off(self) And a class that connects to a database and handles all data logging fuctionallity for an experiment: class DataLogger() def __init__(self) # Record measurements and controls in a database def start(self,t) # Starts a new thread to aqcuire and reccord measuements every t secconds Now, in my program recipe.py I want to do something like: log = DataLogger() @DataLogger_decorator H1 = Heater() log.start(60) H1.set_power(10,100) H1.turn_on() sleep(10) H1.turn_off() etc Where all actions on H1 are recorded by the datalogger. I can change any of the classes involved, just looking for an elegant way to do this. Ideally the hardware functions remain separated from the database and DataLogger functions. And ideally the DataLogger is reusable for other controls and measurements.

  I have 4 tables: tempTBL, linksTBL and categoryTBL, extra on my tempTBL I have: ID, name, url, cat, isinserted columns on my linksTBL I have: ID, name, alias columns on my categoryTBL I have: cl_id, link_id,cat_id on my extraTBL I have: id, link_id, value How do I do a single query to select from tempTBL all items where isinsrted = 0 then insert them to linksTBL and for each record inserted, pickup ID (which is primary) and then insert that ID to categoryTBL with cat_id = 88. after that insert extraTBL ID for link_id and url for value. I know this is so confusing, put I'll post this anyhow... This is what I have so far: INSERT IGNORE INTO linksTBL (link_id,link_name,alias) VALUES(NULL,'tex2','hello'); # generate ID by inserting NULL INSERT INTO categoryTBL (link_id,cat_id) VALUES(LAST_INSERT_ID(),'88'); # use ID in second table I would like to add here somewhere that it only selects items where isinserted = 0 and iserts those records, and onse inserted, will change isinserted to 1, so when next time it runs, it will not add them again.

  Hi I'd like to set up a videoconferencing (1-1 initially) system using Flash as the client. I've tried some web searches but couldn't find much; any pointers on the following would be great: Does the standard browser Flash 10 plugin contain everything needed for P2P video conferencing, or is server support needed? Does anyone have any experience of opensource server videoconferencing products to be used with Flash on the browser side? E.g. would Asterisk work? Something like http://www.red5chat.com/ ?   Hi, I found this article (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb967663.aspx) and thought great thats exactly what I'm trying to do. I want to programatically build a product brochure using content controls and openXML. The article in question refers to an accompanying video which unfortunately does not appear to be available, nor does the code. I posted a comment to ask where they are but in the meantime does anybody know of a good example. There are plenty of examples of binding/merging one record into a openXML Word document. But I want to bind a whole list of records to create a product brochure. Can anyone point me to good tutorial? Thanks

  I'm attempting to call a method written in C++/CLI from C#. The C++/CLI code is used to update a TIMESTAMP column in an Oracle database, given a record ID and the System::DateTime object which is the .NET compatible data type for Oracle's TIMESTAMP type. The method I am calling has the following prototype: bool ChangeJobUpdateDate (int jobIdIn, System::DateTime^ updateDateIn) I've added a reference to this DLL project in a test project that I made; I'm writing the tests in C#. However, when I try to call this method from the C# unit test project, the function appears to have the following method declaration (via intellisense): bool ChangeJobUpdateDate (int jobIdIn, ValueType updateDateIn) I'm admittedly not that familiar with C++/CLI, so is there something I'm missing?

• How can I save/print values in my WATCH list in Visual Studio 2008?

  When I attach the Visual Studio 2008 debugger to my web server process, I sometimes browse a large amount of data in my watch list. Suppose I have an array of string variable that I expand to show 20 entries. It seems that the only way to save these values is to copy and paste them one at a time. I have gone so far as to do a screen-shot in order to have a record of what the values were (to refer to later or print a hard copy). Is there an easy way to save and print these values? I am familiar with the new "IntelliTrace" feature in Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate, but it seems overkill for this purpose. I just want to take something like an array of strings and save it for later reference once I've stopped the debugger. What's a good way to do this?

We are going to have people come from a particular site during a acquisition campaign and was wondering how I could conditionalize a certain section of my site to display a thank you message instead of the sign up form as they would have had the opportunity to fill this out before coming to my landing page. I have seen solutions like: $referal = mysql_real_escape_string($_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']); I would like to know if this is the best way to get this to work??? - okay this is what i think might work. The third party website that is referring people to our landing page once the form on that site has been filled out can push into the record a hidden input value of "www.sample.com" or whatever... then I can have something check the for that particular value and fire off the conidtional. Does that even sound right?

  I'm using ADO.NET in my C# project. In my form I added a SourceBinding element from my toolbox in VS2010. I set the connection to the table of my dataset. It creates a DataAdapter automaticly for my. I want to insert a record, so I call the Insert() method of the DataAdapter. But when I view my database data, it doesn't have any new records... orderID = this.orderTableAdapter.Insert("", "", (int)OrderStatus.IN_CONSTRUCTION, DateTime.Now); Or do I need to insert it manually with the SqlCommand???

• Problem using Min(field)

  have these two queries: SELECT classroomid AS crid, startdate AS msd FROM unitTemplates where classroomid = 6 GROUP BY classroomid and: SELECT classroomid AS crid, Min(startdate) AS msd FROM unitTemplates where classroomid = 6 GROUP BY classroomid The second query uses the minimum function. There is only one record in my table with a classroomid of 6. The first query returns msd = 20100505, the second query returns msd = 0 (instead of the expected 20100505). If I change the "Min" to "Max" it returns the highest (and only) startdate (20100505). Why doesn't MySQL like the Min function I'm using?

• Capturing Mac OS X System Audio output with Python

  Hello, I've been trying to "hijack" the Mac OS X system audio using PyAudio and save to a wav in python. That is, I do not want to record from an input device such as a microphone. I want to grab the sound output from any or all applications. I have followed the tutorials on the PyAudio site but these do not appear to cover my use case and when I try to read from the output stream I unsurprisingly get the paCanNotReadFromAnOutputOnlyStream exception. Fair enough! Is there a way to do what I am proposing with the PyAudio or other FOSS Python Library?

  Say I have a simple helpdesk application which logs calls made by users. I would typically have such fields in a table relating to the call e.g. CallID, Description, CustomerID etc. I Would also have a table of customers including CustomerID, Username, Password, FullName etc. Now when a user is deleted from the customers table then the inner join between the calls table and the users table to find out historically which user logged a call would produce no results. How do people usually deal with this? Have seperate customer and useraccount tables Just disable the accounts so the data is still available Record the customers name in the calls table as a seperate field. or any other methods / suggestions?

  When I have conflicting definitions of the ivars of a class in objective-c (not redeclaring the class in the same file, but rather naming the same class with diff ivars, no warnings or better yet errors are issued by the compiler. However, both sets of ivars are useable by the appropriate methods in the respective files. For instance Foo.m: @interface foo { int a; } - (int)method; @end @implementation foo - (int)method { return a; } @end Bar.m: @interface foo { float baz; } @end @implementation foo (category) - (float)blah { return baz; } @end compiles without warnings or errors. Is this intentional? Is this an unchecked error? (for the record, a and baz are actually the same memory location.)

• How can I parse free text (Twitter tweets) against a large database of values?

  Hi there Suppose I have a database containing 500,000 records, each representing, say, an animal. What would be the best approach for parsing 140 character tweets to identify matching records by animal name? For instance, in this string... "I went down to the woods to day and couldn't believe my eyes: I saw a bear having a picnic with a squirrel." ... I would like to flag up the words "bear" and "squirrel", as they appear in my database. This strikes me as a problem that has probably been solved many times, but from where I'm sitting it looks prohibitively intensive - iterating over every db record checking for a match in the string is surely a crazy way to do it. Can anyone with a comp sci degree put me out of my misery? I'm working in C# if that makes any difference. Cheers!

• Querying results on timestamp in mysql

  Hi, I have series of records in a table called 'hits' and each record has the current_timestamp (ie. 2010-04-30 10:11:30) in a column called 'current_time'. What I would like to do is query these records and return only the records from the current month. I cannot seem to get this to work. I have tried a range of queries that don't work such as - Select * FROM hits WHERE MONTH(FROM_UNIXTIME(current_time)) = 4 I don't know if I am even on the right lines! Can anyone point me in the right direction? Cheers.
