  • Visual Studio output file permissions?

    I'am using Visual Studio 2010, how to set or automatically change owner of the output file from Visual Studio (such as executable file) to user other than administrator? all output files currently is owned by Administrator (due to Visual studio is launch by administrative privilege), so sometime I can't delete those files due to access permissions. sometime visual studio itself can't delete it too (after i ran the executable) until few minutes, its really annoying when I need to rebuild those executable. anyone know what's the actual problem here? error message is : error LNK1168: cannot open [path to file].exe for writing

In order to tidy this table up, I need to get this information as a date range rather than a row per day as it currently is. I can obviously do this with Min and Max aggregates easily but the ranges overlap and other business code expect non-overlapping ranges. I also tried to achieve this with self joins and row_number(), but without much success...   • Upgrading VSIX extensions from VS2012 to VS2013

Failing which, it will not be possible for your consumers to install and use your extensions on Visual Studio 2013.   Objective In this blog post, I’ll show you how simple it is to upgrade your Visual Studio 2012 extension to Visual Studio 2013. There aren’t any reported breaking changes between VS 2012 SDK and VS 2013 SDK, the upgrade usually involves, rebuilding the extension against VS 2013 SDK and updating the vsix manifest file.              Walkthrough Download the Visual Studio 2013 SDK - You will need to download the Visual Studio 2013 SDK in order to open up the Visual Studio extension project in Visual Studio 2013. The SDK can be downloaded from here. Install the SDK before you proceed.                2. Once the VS 2013 SDK has been installed, open up your package project. For the purposes of this blog post, I’ll open up the Avanade Extension – Software Inventory in Visual Studio 2013. You will notice that Visual Studio doesn’t load the project but let’s you know that the project needs to be Migrated.                  3. Right click the project and choose the option ‘Reload Project’ from the Context Menu.                  4. Choosing the Reload Project option brings up an upgrade window, telling you that the upgrade is a one way only upgrade i.e. the project will be changed to work with Visual Studio 2013 and you will not be able to open the project up in Visual Studio 2012. My recommendation would be to create a Visual Studio 2013 branch and upgrading the project in that branch only, so if you need to go back to Visual Studio 2012 project at some point, you have a handy reference in a separate branch.             5. Upon clicking Ok, the project is updated. See below, the following changes are made at the time of upgrade,           - The runtime version is updated in the Resources.Designer.cs file                      - The Minimum version of Visual Studio in the package project file is changed from 11.0 to 12.0                    6. Reference VS 2013 dll’s rather than VS 2012 dll’s. So reference Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Client.dll and Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Controls.dll from C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\ReferenceAssemblies\v2.0 and C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\ReferenceAssemblies\v4.5. If you have any other API references, then change the references to point to VS 2013 instead of VS 2012.                          7. Rebuild your solution to ensure there are no breaking changes. Success!                8. Update VSIX Manifest file (the file source.extnsion.vsixmanifest contains the meta data for your VSIX).          - Update the Install Targets from 11.0 to 12.0. This basically enforces that the extension can be installed on Visual Studio 2013 version of Visual Studio.                         - Update the Dependencies from Visual Studio MPF 11.0 to Visual Studio MPF 12.0              9. Rebuild the solution and open up the bin folder for the Package project and look for the file *.vsix file [Microsoft Visual Studio Extension].         - This is basically the installer for your extension.                 - Double click the installer to launch the installer wizard. Viola! You can see the package installation wizard opens up and gives you the option to install the extension for Visual Studio 2013.                    - Click Install to Continue                    - Note – If you run into the exception “23/06/2013 10:42:18 - Install Error : Microsoft.VisualStudio.ExtensionManager.InstallByMsiException: The InstalledByMSI element in extension Avanade Extensions cannot be 'true' when installing an extension through the Extensions and Updates Installer.  The element can only be 'true' when an MSI lays down the extension manifest file.” Ensure you have the option “This VSIX is installed by Windows Installer” unchecked in the Install Targets tab.        10. Verifying that the extension has installed correctly.           - Open Extension Manager and verify that the installed extension shows up in the extension manager “list of installed VSIX”.                      11. First Look at the updated Extension                         - The links have now been moved to the context menu, so to see the navigation links, you’ll have to right click on the icon and select the option from the context menu.                                        Note – The Avanade Extension being used in the demo has been developed by Utkarsh and Tarun. The Software Inventory Extension for Visual Studio 2012…  allows you to see the list of Software installed on the hosted build server right from with in Visual Studio,  the extension also allows you to export this list to excel.     Recently, senders from Hotmail have begun to get the following NDR when trying to e-mail our domain. EDIT : Full NDR Message Action: failed Status: 5.5.0 Diagnostic-Code: smtp;550-Please turn on SMTP Authentication in your mail client, or login to the 550-IMAP/POP3 server before sending your message. 550-snt0-omc3-s36.snt0.hotmail.com [65.55.90.175]:49271 is not permitted to 550 relay through this server without authentication This is seemingly out of the blue and I'm at a loss as to why this is happening. Pertinent Information We have multiple domains hooked up to our Exchange server. We changed our company name in January of this year, and the old primary domain (olddomain.com) will accept e-mails from Hotmail accounts, however e-mails sent to the new primary domain (newdomain.com) bounce back with the NDR listed above. The bounces only appear to be happening when the Hotmail sender is sending a new e-mail, and not if they are responding to an e-mail sent from our end. We have made no changes to the configuration of our server recently. This e-mail first appeared last Friday. As far as I can tell, the mail doesn't even seem to get to our server We performed an Exchange 2003 to 2010 migration last year. The 2003 acts as a Smart Host Any advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated! I'm at a loss

  • Dell Studio 1558 Bluetooth driver problem

    I am using Dell Studio 1558 laptop. Originally it was having windows 7 64 bit Home edition but than i upgraded my system to Windows 7 32 bit Professinal edition. The problem i am facing due to this is that my system is not detecting bluetooth adapter. When i install 64 bit(windows 7)/32(windows vista) bit drivers for Bluetooth it detects the Adapter but only sometimes and much of the times it doesnt. I am not able to find drivers for Windows 7 32bit professional edition and thus not able to detect bluetooth adapter.

  • Email with extra '.com' behind sender email address

    Currently I had a situation where I sent an email to [email protected], but when I receive mail from [email protected], it showed as [email protected], with extra '.com' behind the email address, this just happen within this week. Before this, I didn't change any setting, currently I am using Outlook 2010. When I checked the email in webmail, it also showed it as [email protected]. It seem that it has nothing to do with Outlook. However, I also tried on Thunderbird 16.0.1, but still the problem is the same. Has anyone experienced this before? Is the problem caused by the sender or receiver?   • ActiveSync devices causing accounts to lockout

    When a user changes his account password for whatever reason (read: expired), and the old password is stored in his mobile device connected through EAS. This will cause his account almost immediately - as it should according to the lockout policy defined in the AD. It was easy to figure out that part. The hard part is keeping it from happening. I looked everywhere. Nothing. Basically there are four parts to the puzzle: the EAS device, the TMG (ISA) server, the EAS protocol and finally the AD. None of them have a way to stop the EAS device from failing to authenticate. So I figured I'll have to come up with a clever workaround. And the only thing I could come up with is to create a group for all EAS users and exclude them from the lockout policy, which obviously defeats the whole purpose of the policy, or to educate the users to update their devices with the new passwords, which is impossible. The question: Can you think of any other way to prevent EAS from locking out the accounts? Environment: Mostly iOS devices all through EAS. TMG 2010. Exchange 2007. AD 2008 R2.

  • PowerPoint '10 avoid animation completion on click & advance slide or start new one

    Scenario I have PowerPoint 2010 On the "Transitions" tab the "Advance Slide On Mouse Click" check box is checked. I have a long, slow, timed, non-repeating animation working in the background of the slide. I click to advance the slide before the animation is finished, but ... Instead of advancing the slide, the animation moves to the completed state ... Forcing a second click to actually advance the slide. Additionally If I have other animations on the slide that are initiated by a click, the long animation also advances to a finished state before starting the new animation. Desired Behavior On click, I want the slide to advance or the next on-click animation to start whether the long animation is done or not, and without having that long animation first "complete" itself. In the case of another animation, I simply want the long animation to continue, while also doing the new animation. Ultimate Question Is there a way to either: Set an option somewhere to not have that animation complete on click and simply "continue" to animate with the start of a new animation or to advance the slide (as the case may be)? Create a VBA script that will produce the desired behavior for the long animation?

  • Outlook errors and blank address book?

    I have a user with a fresh install of Windows 7 64 bit. Office 2010 was installed also. Everything worked great until we installed Adobe Pro 9 and Wordperfect 12. (for outlook we are not using exchange). Then Outlook popped an error saying could not start Outlook. I then modified it to run in compatibility mode and Outlook starts. Then took compatibility mode off and outlook continues to start without difficulty. However, her address book went blank (contacts are all there). In the properties of the contact folder it is checked (and grayed out) to include this folder in the address book, and the Outlook address book is listed when I look at account properties. I tried creating a new profile to no avail. I tried creating a new profile and creating a new pst file - to no avail. I tried uninstalling office, removing the folders inside roaming and local, reinstalled office; got the same could not start Outlook error - did the compatibility mode bit and got it to start - but the Address book continues to be empty. Has anyone run across this before? I'm thinking that there must be some other preferences type folder other than those in Roaming and Local since her signature remained when I reinstalled Office.

  • Windows 7 AIK help

    I've just got in a few Windows 7 (64, Windows 7 Professional) machines, and I'm trying to get the AIK 2010 working. I've set up one of the machines, and installed AIK and MDT on it. I've followed the directions at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd349348%28WS.10%29.aspx about 3 times now, and also tried the built-in .chm help files that came with AIK. In AIK I grab the install.wim image off the OEM cd, at which point it asks me which version (I select Professional). I follow the rest of the instructions creating a new Autounattend answer file, and fill in the various bits and pieces according the the step-by-step guides. I verify the Answer file (No warnings or errors), save it, and copy it onto a USB drive. I go to another machine, insert it's OEM Win7 Disk, and power on. I've set BIOS to boot from CD, so it goes directly into the installation. Once The files are loaded, and Setup starts, it immediately asks which version to install (Home basic, Home Premium, Professiona, Ultimate). Ugh, I thought it was supposed to be an automated install, and that selecting the Version when opening the .wim file would answer this question. I looked for an option to set which version to be installed on the net, in the help, and in AIK itself; to no avail. Anyway, just for laughs I select Professional,and hit continue. It copies files for about 10 seconds, then fails with the following error: "Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the setup log files for more information. [OK]". Clicking OK reboots the box, and obviously there are no log files because the OS isn't installed. It is a Dell Optiplex 380 , Intel Core Duo 2.93 GHzl 4 GB RAM, 64 Bit. Any help would be REALLY appreciated.

  • some PDF's to iPhones via ActiveSync are corrupt

    we have two server applications (one .NET/ASP web app, the other a native Windows app) that generate PDF's that are then emailed to our users on Exchange 2010. the apps deliver the emails to the Exchange server via SMTP, and our iPhone/iPad users receive their email via activesync. pretty much all of the PDF's generated by the web app and many of the PDF's generated by the Windows app fail to open on an iPhone or iPad. tapping the attachment shows the screen that would display the PDF with the name of the file at the top but the bottom of the screen is completely grey. one thing i have figured out is that the attachment on the iPad is uuencoded. forwarding the attachment to another email address shows the uuencoded format. here's a sample: begin 600 unknown M)5!$1BTQ+C0-)>+CS],-"C8@,"!O8FH\/"](6S8U-B`Q-#A=+TQI;F5A<FEZ M960@,2]%(#DQ-#8O3"`Q,S`Q.2].(#$O3R`Y+U0@,3(X-3,^/@UE;F1O8FH- ---snip--- M,C8T,"`P,#`P,"!N#0IT<F%I;&5R#0H\/"]3:7IE(#8^/@T*<W1A<G1X<F5F .#0HQ,38-"B4E14]&#0H` ` end whereas the normal version of the file looks like a normal PDF: %PDF-1.4 %âãÏÓ 6 0 obj<</H[656 147]/Linearized 1/E 9698/L 13571/N 1/O 9/T 13405>> ---snip--- trailer <</Size 6>> startxref 116 %%EOF so i think the problem is that the attachment is being double uuencoded somewhere, or the iPhone is failing to recognize that the attachment is uuencoded and not decoding it. any suggestions on where to begin troubleshooting this problem?

When I try to use Ctrl+Shift+/ it inserts a comment of this form: =begin My lines of code My lines of code My lines of code My lines of code My lines of code =end I would like the Ctrl+Shift+/ to be defaulted to toggle commenting with '# ' instead. I have gone to the key preferences and tried changing PyDev toggle comment to Ctrl+Shift+/ but it doesn't work. It must be picking that behavior from somewhere else. What do I need to change so that I get the IDE to behave like I want. Ted.

  • Why is my own e-mail address not listed in the To field?

    I have received a suspicious e-mail. I am not affiliated with the company mentioned in the e-mail body, or the signer. However, I have been using the app they mention in the e-mail. They are inviting me to a Beta test. But the e-mail is not by the original author of the app. But I'm thinking they might have hired an external company to do this version of the app. There is a link to a TestFlight page. So I'm not sure what to make of this. Now this is what mainly arose my attention. The "To" field is addressed to "Bon Support" and when I double-click on that I see [email protected]. I can assure you that none of these are my e-mail addresses. So where the heck is my own e-mail address? How could I have received this if it was addressed to someone else? If not spammers and skimmers and other criminals, who else is using this practice and why? And how can I tell now to what e-mail account I received this? I have more than one account set up in Outlook.

  • Outlook and IMAP - Outlook doesn't allow the Drafts and Trash folders to sync with the respective IMAP folders

    I'm using Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010 against an IMAP server (the problem exists across many, like Gmail, you name it). Outlook lets you set your Outlook "Sent" folder to map to the IMAP server's Sent folder (the other choice is to map your Outlook Sent to your Personal Folders Sent) - this is good. When you send a message from Outlook and then look in the sent folder of the IMAP server (e.g. from a different client or from a browser), the messages are there. This is the behavior I want. Outlook does NOT support the same behavior for Drafts and Trash. In both cases, items deleted (or Drafts saved) in Outlook go in to Outlook's local folders and do NOT show on the IMAP server's Trash or Drafts folders. Same problem in reverse. Thunderbird on the other hand does support the proper mapping of Drafts, Sent and Trash. I expected this to be IMAP-specific but it appears to be client specific. What does Outlook implement it this way and is there a workaround?

I installed on a Vista x64 machine Visual Studio 2008 SP1 (with integrated SQL from the installation package) and when I try to add an MDF file to a project or to the App_Data when working with web, I get the following message: Connections to SQL Server Files (*.mdf) require SQL Server Express 2005 to function properly. Please verify the installation of the component or download from the URl: http:go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkID=49251. Just to make sure: SQL 2005 express is installed and I connect to it via SSMS. Update: I am 90% sure that this is a Microsoft bug with x64 machines.

  • Windows 7 Slowness following Virtual PC and Visual Studio Install

    I'm running Windows 7 32bit on a 3.2ghz Pentium D with 2gb RAM and a 1TB SATA hard drive. My system was running as fast as it ever has until I installed Visual Studio and Virtual PC a few days ago. Ever since - regardless of whether either application has been running the system has been running incredibly slowly. For example flash video plays jumpily, 3D games that used to run fine are now unplayable and even the smallest amount of multitasking makes the system unusable. I'm confident there is no virus or other such things present following scans in safemode and I'm fairly confident I've made no other changes to my system. Any ideas - I've run out of things to try!

  • BGP Multipath & return routes

    I'm probably a complete n00b concerning serverfault related questions, but our IT department makes a bold statement I wish to verify. I've searched the internet, but can find nothing related to my question, so I come here. We have Threat Management Gateway 2010 and we used to just route the request to IIS and it contained the ip address so we could see where it was coming from. But now they turned on "Requests apear to come the TMG server" so ip addresses aren't forwarded anymore. Every request has the ip of the TMG server. Now the idea behind this is that because of multipath bgp routes, the incoming request goes over RouteA, but the acknowledgement messages could return over RouteB. The claim is that because the request doesn't come from the first known source, our proxy, but instead from IIS, some smart routers at the visitor of our websites don't recognize the acknowledgement message and filter it out. In other words, the response never arrives. Again, this is the claim. But I cannot find ANY resources on the internet that support this claim. I do read about bgp multipath, but more in the case that there are alternative routes when the fastest route fails for some reason. So is the claim completely bogus or is there (some) truth to it? Can someone explain or point me to resources? Thanks in advance!

  • Working with barcode fonts in Word

    I need to create labels in Microsoft Word 2010 with numbers encoded as barcodes. The barcode's format (ean, code39, upc, etc) does not matter. I have downloaded a barcode conversion font that I found at this site. When I type the number that I want and then I format it with my new font, it produces a barcode. I then print it on an OKI laser printer (1200 dpi). The result seems to be fine, at least for common people. But, when I try to scan it, nothing happens. I tried both with a barcode scanner and a data collector, but neither of them read the barcode. My barcode scanner is working fine, because I can read commercial barcodes printed on products. Does anybody have any advice? How do I do this kind of stuff? I want to do it using Word because I will generate labels using Mail Merge. Therefore using external programs aren't option for me.

  • Linking to network shares from Sharepoint pages

    So the place I work decided to set up a Microsoft Sharepoint 2010 server for task management and I (as the lowly entry-level intern) have been tasked with "figuring it out." One thing that the end users really, really, really, want is the ability to link to network shares (that are readable by anyone who will be using sharepoint) from a Sharepoint web page. In order to do this, I have edited the HTML manually with several lines that look like the following: <a href="file://server/share">Server Share</a> This works (sometimes) but the link reported by Sharepoint is often wrong and editing pages that contain these links will mangle the code such that when I open it, the code no longer looks like what it did when I last hit save (breaking all those links). Obviously this is not sustainable. I've been told by coworkers that "It worked that way at the last place I worked" but I haven't found out how yet. Any ideas on how this would work or am I barking up the wrong tree? None of the knowledge searches I've done shed any light on the sitataion. Thanks for any help! -Russell P.S. It should be noted that the file option in an href tag ONLY works in IE (which is a real bummer since we mostly use Firefox).

  • Will having 2 MX records pointing to different mail server types cause delivery issues?

    I've inherited a setup where the mail server is exchange 2010. For some reason, I'm not sure why there is 2 MX records setup. One being the exchange server which is the higher priority while the external (non-exchange) server is the secondary mx record. I don't believe this was done for redundancy reasons as the other mail server is not set to route mail back to the exchange server (it's just the webhosts email for their hosting) The client has been experiencing disappearing email, however after my investigations its not actually disappearing, but exchange is successfully receiving the mail and then passing it on to the external server. It isn't happening all the time, just with some email messages from some domains. My question: Is exchange passing the mail on because it can see the secondary MX record and is configured (somewhere) to send mail out? If so, how do I stop it? Is it as easy as just removing the second MX record pointing to the external mail server and exchange will stop passing mail on? I'm not exchange expert so I'm kinda stumped. Exchange MX tools are saying everything is setup and configured correctly from an external point of view.
