• Handling dynamic number of columns

  I'm developing a CMS of sorts, and I want to give my users the possibility of customizing the display. More precisely, I want to give them the ability to choose to display or hide the left column, the right column and/or the top div. The middle column cannot be hidden since this is where the actual content will show, whereas the other columns are for navigation or side menus. I've been looking for a way to make this as smart and flexible as possible. For now I'm using a MasterPage, but that seems to be too constraining. For instance, with MasterPage you need to add a ContentPlaceHolder control in every of your ASPX pages. What are the best practices in this area? I guess a simpler way of saying this would be "I want to create a template system over which I have complete control".

• Running sql scripts against an attached database?

  I've got an MDF attached to an instance of Sql Server 2008 Express, and I need to run some sql scripts against it to generate tables, indexes, etc. But I can't figure out how to get this to work. If I load the scripts in Visual Studio, it only allows me to connect to the server and run it against a database. I can't choose a different provider (Microsoft Sql Server Database File), so I can't select my MDF. This leaves me the only option of running the script as individual queries, but that won't work as it appears it doesn't support TSQL CREATE statements. How can I run my sql script against an attached database?

• What is "Android Activity", what is the difference between "BlankActivity", and "MasterDetailFlow"?

  I want to create an android application using Eclipse Juno, but then i am getting confused of what the "activity" actually is. The first time i created android app project, there was an option that require me to select whether i want to create activity, and if so, i need to choose between BlankActivity and MasterDetailFlow. Also, is it possible that an application has many activities? I think i need some tutorials about creating android application using eclipse, so if you have a good tuts either it is in text or videos i will appreciate it. Actually i am a newbie in mobile apps development, so i wish the answer will be less complex. Thanks in advance.

• SQL Server Reporting Services using of pictures with dynamic links

  I have setup a SSRS 2008 and building reports. So far so good. Now there is a picture control in SSRS where you can set the picture as external link reference. There you can choose to use a link. When I use a weblink (http://anyurl/download_picture.aspx?id=123) it dont' work for me. Calling the url in the web browser (all tested IE, Safari, Chrome, FF) the pictures is delivered, Header is ok, content type, too. Does it work in general in SSRS ? Or do I have to copy the picture to a temp folder and link the url like http://anyurl/mypicture.jpg.

• How can you check if a file exists before including/importing it in JSP?

  Assuming that requestScope.importMe is expecting a path to a jsp file <c:choose> <c:when test="${!empty requestScope.importMe && fileExists(requestScope.importMe) }"> <c:import url="${requestScope.importMe}" /> ... How can I check if the file exists before trying to include it so that an error is not thrown? I'd like to avoid using inline Java. Something using one of the JSTL tags is the preferred approach.

• PHP radio button check if null

  So in class we get this school task where we need to check if one of the fields in unfilled and display an error. No we did this but for some strange reason it doesnt display a error when a radio button is unchecked. (textfield null check works fine) I've tried with a friend many possabilities but they all doesnt seem to work. We have been stuck at this task for 2 hours. Now we have tried making seperate if's but that doesnt seem to work too.   Hi all, I am currently having a problem since the DB has been changed. I am using Datasets for a c# application, and there is a user management system. For the security issues, our current DB design is like user log into app. DB returns a session ID On use of any other stored procedures, a session ID must be specified. BUT, the DB didn't request session ID before. since I am using the datasets, I used update/insert/delete stored procedures with "TableAdaptor Configuration Wizard". Bind Commands to Existing Stored Procedures (choose stored procedures to call and specify any reuiqred parameters) Now, it seems like I have to specify session ID for Insert/Update/Delete stored procedures. How do I specify session ID parameter here? It seems like I have to pick one return parameter variable from a select statement. Thanks,

  I have a Qt 4 GUI where I need to have a option in a drop-down menu that allows the user to choose to restart the computer. I realize this might seem redunant with the ability to restart the computer in other ways, but the choice needs to stay there. I've tried using system() to call the following: a suid-root shell script a non-suid shell script a suid-root binary program and all of them just cause reboot: must be superuser to be printed. Using system() to call reboot directly does the same thing. I'm not especially attached to using system() to do this, but it seemed like the most direct choice. How can I reboot the system from the GUI?

  Is there a way to reference the colours used in the jQuery themes without creating a simple style for each theme that I may choose to use? Example: I have some text as follows <div>Hello</div> which I'd like to be change colour in line with my theme of the day. I wish to use the primary colour from a theme (say ui-lightness) which is "#1c94c4" as defined in several of the styles such as ui-state-default in ui-lightness.css The problem is that if I do the following <div class='ui-state-default'>Hello</div> I get all the other style effects, like borders and background colour, which are not right for my application What I'd like to do is something like <div class='ui-primary-color'>Hello</div> which would automatically change only the colour dependent on the theme. PS. Doing a pre-build pre-processing step to parse the themes and generate a customised css style would be my least favourable option here!

  Hi all, On a Salesforce.com opportunity I have a number of custom fields that are potential options that the end client will eventually select. Option 1 (Desc Field) Option 1 (Value) Option 2 (Desc Field) Option 2 (Value) Option 3 (Desc Field) Option 3 (Value) At a future point the user will ultimately choose one of the options as the preferred option. What I want is then the value for the chosen option to be stored in another field without the user having to enter it again. A “nice to have” would also be that all 3 option descriptions, values and selected value are locked once this is done. Any ideas?

  I was having a discussion with a coworker (while we were programming) about AI. We were talking about emotions/feelings and if you should choose to leave any out. I asked him, "Would you leave out racism or hate?" and if you did leave those out, what, if any, other emotions might lead to the AI learning the left out emotions or feelings. Should you PROGRAM in measures to stop the AI from learning those feelings? If you teach Love, does it need to know hurt? Or would it learn hurt? If it then knew Hurt would it connect it with Dislike, Hurt and Dislike could that then lead to some other non-programmed emotion? Such as hate? All while tele-commuting from home.

• Create "INSERT" statements from mySQL database in Java

  Does anyone know of any good libraries or scripts out there which will allow me to point to any mySQL table and automatically get a list of all the INSERT statements for the data in the table? DdlUtils allows me to create an XML file from a database model but I would like to have it in INSERT statements format and preferably the ability to choose a couple of tables instead of dumping the entire database. Thanks. EDIT: I need it to be a Java API because I want to programatically call it from my Java method.

• TypeError while using django Form in editing an Entry

  I have an Entry model which can belong to a Category.I am providing a CategoryChoicesForm sothat the user can choose from various Categorys (from a dropdown list)when an Entry is created or edited. I am having trouble with the CategoryChoicesForm while editing the Entry.It throws a TypeError.. • How can I filter out the "My Computer"-option in a SWT DirectoryDialog?

  Hello *, in our Eclipse RCP application running on Windows XP we use a DirectoryDialog, in which the user should... ahmm... choose a directory! :D The problem is: If the user selects the "My Computer"-option (in German Windows "Arbeitsplatz") the Dialog returns null. The DirectoryDialog provides a method setFilterPath(String path) in which I put the File.pathSeparatorChar (to remain OS-independant). My suggestion was that if there has to be a file separator in the directory the "My Computer"-option would be ignored cause it is null - for example the "OK"-button would be greyed out or sth. like that... but it is also valid to klick "OK". Any suggestions from your side? :D Thanks in advance! Alex

• Execute a batch script from Firefox

  I have written an intranet application from which you can directly connect to a virtual machine by clicking on a RDP-button. The click calls a .bat file, which opens the connection. With IE, this is no problem, as you can choose to directly execute the batch file. But with Firefox, I can only download the script, and have to start it manually afterwards. Is there a way to trust the intranet domain (about:config?) so Firefox allows it to execute scripts directly? Or is there an even better (easier) way to start an RDP connection from Firefox?

  i have this code below to show different divs when i choose certain radio buttons: if ($("input[@name='exerciseRB']:checked").val() == 'New') { $("#newExercise").show(); $("#existingExercise").hide(); } else { $("#newExercise").hide(); $("#existingExercise").show(); } at first, i just had two radio buttons (both named exerciseRB and everything works fine. Now, later in my web page i added two new radio buttons (with the name lessonRB). The issue is that once i added these other new radio buttons when i look up this in firebug: $("input[@name='exerciseRB']:checked") i actually get an array back with both the exerciseRB item as well as the lessonRB item. Its almost as if the @name='exerciseRB' is being ignored. any ideas here?

• Perl date function/module able to understand full unabbreviated months.

  Let's say I read in a string from somewhere that contains a date, and it's date format doesn't abbreviate the month. Is there a module that can handle reading it in, and then outputting it to whichever format I choose? I've taken a quick look through CPAN, and every date module I looked at didn't seem to accommodate an unabbreviated month. Thanks for any help EDIT: As an example, say we have a string like this; "2 February 1988". Now we want to convert it into "1988-02-02" (YYYY-MM-DD).

  I have a picker that prompts the user to choose a gender and an age group (17-21, 22-26, etc.) These 2 choices determine which view the user will be brought to after pressing the button, but I am having troubles writing the method for that button.   So I have to find THE SECOND LARGEST NUMBER IN A LIST. I am doing it through simple loops.My approach is I am going to divide a list into two parts and then find the largest number into two parts and then compare two nuumbers. I will choose the smaller number from two of them. I can not use ready functions or different approaches.   Hi every one , Wish u all a Happy New Year. I am developing a website that uses facebook. Now for managing user i thought Using membrship provider. and choose'd to develop a Custom membership provider. Now my problem is that My data base schema dosn't match the Standred membership schema and the functions provided to Override take different argument than i expect. Like membership uses username as a username to log in. But i haev to use User email ID as the user name, also its searching functions is based on using Username as way to serach but i want it to search by UserID. Same Goes for User insertion, deletion, Updation.. please help me .... Edit Its just an idea, Would it be feasible to forcefully pass my values in the arguments and then handle them in my code.

  I have the following HTML snippet <tr> <td class="1">...</td> <td class="2">...</td> <td class="3">...</td> <td class="4">...</td> </tr> etc... I basically have N rows, and each row contains 4 TD's each with a unique class. I would like a simple way to split out all the rows and TD's by class so I can choose what data I want to use. I expect the easiest way to achieve this would be regex (maybe two). One to split up the TR's then another to split up the TDs (by class preferably) Thanks

• Why a revert a file in EGit, but the dirty symbol '<' still exist in the project view?

  I try EGit revert for several days, It's very confuse that when I revert the file following the user guide, and I still got the file dirty symbol in the related file. http://wiki.eclipse.org/EGit/User_Guide#Reverting_Changes I choose 'Replace with' - 'File in Git Index', it works, the content has been revert, but the symbol stays the same, sometimes, the symbol will disappear after a while, but sometimes, it didn't disappear. I'm using eclipse on windows, I'm not sure it's about the '\r\n' character. But I use 'Compare with ' - 'File in Git Index', two files look the same. Hope someone can tell me why, I think it can be a bug? Thank you in advance.
