How to sort HashSet() function data in sequence?

I am new to Java, the function I would like to perform is to load a series of data from a file, into my hashSet() function. the problem is, I able to enter all the data in sequence, but I can't retrieve it out in sequence base on the account name in the file. I searched all around the net, how to create a custom provider for omniauth.. and i succedded partly.. How can I create Wikipedia's footnote highlighting solely with jQuery

I would like to duplicate Wikipedia's footnote highlighting from in-text citation click solely in jQuery and CSS classes. I found a webpage that describes how to do so with CSS3 and then a JavaScript solution for IE. I would like however to do so solely with jQuery as the site I'm doing it on already has a bunch of jQuery elements. I've come up with a list of the process. In-Text Citation Clicked Replace highlight class with standard footnote class on <p> tag of footnotes that are already highlighted. Add highlight to the appropriate footnote Use jQuery to scroll down the page to appropriate footnote. I've come up with some jQuery so far but I'm extremely new to it relying heavy on tutorials and plugins to this point. Here is what I have with some plain English for the parts I haven't figured out yet. $('.inlineCite').click(function() { $('.footnoteHighlight').removeClass('footnoteHighlight').addClass('footnote'); //add highlight to id of highlightScroll //scroll to footnote with matching id }); If I had a method to pass a part of the selector into the function and turn it into a variable I believe I could pull it off. Declaration, allocation and assignment of an array of pointers to function pointers

Hello Stack Overflow! This is my first post, so please be gentle. I've been playing around with C from time to time in the past. Now I've gotten to the point where I've started a real project (a 2D graphics engine using SDL, but that's irrelevant for the question), to be able to say that I have some real C experience. Yesterday, while working on the event system, I ran into a problem which I couldn't solve. There's this typedef, //the void parameter is really an SDL_Event*. //but that is irrelevant for this question. typedef void (*event_callback)(void); which specifies the signature of a function to be called on engine events. I want to be able to support multiple event_callbacks, so an array of these callbacks would be an idea, but do not want to limit the amount of callbacks, so I need some sort of dynamic allocation. This is where the problem arose. However, when I run this code, the program crashes as described in the code. I'm guessing segmentation fault but I can't be sure since no output is given. I'm also guessing that the error comes from a somewhat flawed understanding on how to declare and allocate an array of pointers to function pointers. Please Stack Overflow, guide me.

Free utility which runs in Linux to create a UML class diagram from Java source files

I prefer to jot down UML-diagrams on paper and then implement them using Java. It would be nice to have a utility which could create UML-diagrams for me which I may share on-line and include in the digital documentation. In other words: I want to create UML diagrams from Java source code. The utility must be able to: Run in Linux. Handle Generics, i.e show List<Foo correctly in parameters and return type. Show class inheritance and interface implementations. It's nice if the utility is able to: Run in Windows and Mac OS X. Display enums in some nice manner. Generate output in a diagram format which I may modify using some other utility. Run from the command line. Restrict the UML generation to a set of packages which I may specify. Handle classes/interfaces which are not part of my source code. It could include the first class/interface which is external in the UML diagram. Perhaps in another color to indicate it being a library/framework created by someone else. Focuses on this task and doesn't try to solve the whole issue of documentation.

Correct way to do timer function in Python

Hi. I have a GUI application that needs to do something simple in the background (update a wx python progress bar, but that doesn't really matter). I see that there is a threading.timer class.. but there seems to be no way to make it repeat. So if I use the timer, I end up having to make a new thread on every single execution... like : import threading import time def DoTheDew(): print "I did it" t = threading.Timer(1, function=DoTheDew) t.daemon = True t.start() if __name__ == '__main__': t = threading.Timer(1, function=DoTheDew) t.daemon = True t.start() time.sleep(10) This seems like I am making a bunch of threads that do 1 silly thing and die.. why not write it as : import threading import time def DoTheDew(): while True: print "I did it" time.sleep(1) if __name__ == '__main__': t = threading.Thread(target=DoTheDew) t.daemon = True t.start() time.sleep(10) Am I missing some way to make a timer keep doing something? Either of these options seems silly... I am looking for a timer more like a java.util.Timer that can schedule the thread to happen every second... If there isn't a way in Python, which of my above methods is better and why?

Wait until image loads before performing function

I'm trying to create a simple portfolio page. I have a list of thumbs and an image. When you click on a thumb, the image will change. When a thumbnail is clicked, I'd like to have the image fade out, wait until the image is loaded, then fade back in. The problem I have right now is that some of the images are pretty big, so it fades out, then fades back in immediately, sometimes while the image is still loading. I'd like to avoid using setTimeout, since sometimes an image will load faster or slower than the time I set. "Android Create" call fails in windows 7 - missing JDK

I'm having a problem getting my android dev environment setup in Windows 7. I follow the instructions here, as well as several environment sublinks. I am using Eclipse with the Android plugin. I have installed the Java JDK several times, in various locations (jdk-6u20-windows-i586.exe) - but I am obviously missing something. Every time I run "android create avd --target 2 --name my_avd" I get an error: C:\Users\andrew>android create avd --target 2 --name my_avd WARNING: Java not found in your path. Checking it it's installed in C:\Program Files\Java instead. ERROR: No suitable Java found. In order to properly use the Android Developer Tools, you need a suitable version of Java installed on your system. We recommend that you install the JDK version of JavaSE, available here: http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/ You can find the complete Android SDK requirements here: http://developer.android.com/sdk/requirements.html This error message is the reason for me installing the JDK several times over. First I tried installing to a location on my e: drive. I then moved it to the default loc (program files (x86)\java\jdk.6.something. I also tried forcing it to go into the program files\ path, but it still automatically installs into the (x86) path. I have added the install path to my path environment variable every single time, yet I still continue to get this error. My suspicion is that windows 7 and the android tools are not playing together well in terms of finding the JDK, but who knows, it may be something entirely different. If you have seen this error before, I would appreciate a hint.

Create new or update existing entity at one go with JPA

A have a JPA entity that has timestamp field and is distinguished by a complex identifier field. What I need is to update timestamp in an entity that has already been stored, otherwise create and store new entity with the current timestamp. As it turns out the task is not as simple as it seems from the first sight. The problem is that in concurrent environment I get nasty "Unique index or primary key violation" exception. Here's my code: // Load existing entity, if any. Entity e = entityManager.find(Entity.class, id); if (e == null) { // Could not find entity with the specified id in the database, so create new one. e = entityManager.merge(new Entity(id)); } // Set current time... e.setTimestamp(new Date()); // ...and finally save entity. entityManager.flush(); Please note that in this example entity identifier is not generated on insert, it is known in advance. When two or more of threads run this block of code in parallel, they may simultaneously get null from entityManager.find(Entity.class, id) method call, so they will attempt to save two or more entities at the same time, with the same identifier resulting in error. I think that there are few solutions to the problem. Sure I could synchronize this code block with a global lock to prevent concurrent access to the database, but would it be the most efficient way? Some databases support very handy MERGE statement that updates existing or creates new row if none exists. But I doubt that OpenJPA (JPA implementation of my choice) supports it. Event if JPA does not support SQL MERGE, I can always fall back to plain old JDBC and do whatever I want with the database. But I don't want to leave comfortable API and mess with hairy JDBC+SQL combination. There is a magic trick to fix it using standard JPA API only, but I don't know it yet. Please help.

function taking in an input image and different kernel size

I have this filtering function that takes an input image, performs convolution using a given kernel, and returns the resulting image. However, I can't seem to work it out how to make it takes different kernel sizes.For example instead of pre-defined 3x3 kernel as below in the code, it could instead take 5x5 or 7x7. and then the user could input the type of kernel/filter they want(Depending on the intended effect). ASP.NET SqlDataSource update and create FK reference

The short version: I have a grid view bound to a data source which has a SelectCommand with a left join in it because the FK can be null. On Update I want to create a record in the FK table if the FK is null and then update the parent table with the new records ID. Is this possible to do with just SqlDataSources? The detailed version: I have two tables: Company and Address. The column Company.AddressId can be null. On my ascx page I am using a SqlDataSource to select a left join of company and address and a GridView to display the results. By having my UpdateCommand and DeleteCommand of the SqlDataSource execute two statements separated by a semi-colon I am able to use the GridView's Edit and Delete functionality to update both table simultaneously. The problem I have is when the Company.AddressId is null. What I need to have happen is have the data source create a record in the Address table and then update the Company table with the new Address.ID then proceed with the update as usual. I would like to do this with just data sources if possible for consistency/simplicity sake. Is it possible to have my data source do this, or perhaps add a second data source to the page to handle some of this? Once I have that working I can probably figure out how to make it work with the InsertCommand as well but if you are on a roll and have an answer for how to make that fly as well feel free to provide it. The following information is available Point2D, [3, 2] Line3D, [7, 12, 3], [-9, 13, 68] Point3D, [1, 3, 8] Line2D, [5, 7], [3, 8] Point2D, [3, 2] Line3D, [7, -12, 3], [9, 13, 68] Point3D, [6, 9, 5] Point2D, [3, 2] Line3D, [70, -120, -3], [-29, 1, 268] Line3D, [25, -69, -33], [-2, -41, 58] Point3D, [6, 9, -50] The first data separate by the delimiter comma is the class name. for each of the 4 class Point2D,Line3D,Point3D,Line2D How do i like store them into relevant object base on their class means.. when it read first line Point2D, [3, 2] It will store it as Point2D object with the Data [3, 2] But the issue is what dataset should i pick, Vector, Set , Map or List I was thinking to actually create a data set then but i can't use new Point2D(); since Point2D is parent of Point3D Line2D is parent of Line3D and theres no parent class of Point2D and Line2D. how can i like create a object of them in a data set like e.g Vector so Vector[0] is of Point2D class with data [3,2] , then Vector[1] is of Line3D class with data [7, 12, 3], [-9, 13, 68] Thanks for helping.!

strange segmentation fault during function return

I am running a program on 2 different machines. On one it works fine without issue. On the other it results in a segmentation fault. Through debugging, I have figured out where the fault occurs, but I can't figure out a logical reason for it to happen. I use c# 4 asp.net and EF 4. I'm precompiling a query, the result should be a collection of Anonymous Type. Create a real time web application using .net framework and azure - very confused

Let us say I would like a simple (yet complex) web application where there is continuous READING AND WRITING to the sql azure database. Let us say I am tracking a location, and I would like it to be updated very frequently (lets take the worst case: 1 second). From the little knowledge I have, I think that this involves the use of the database to continuously write the location to the database, and continuously read from the database to update another person through a website. Do you please have any suggestion which technologies can I use? Is there a simple way? I heard about node.js, signalR. I have no idea how to use them, if they are really what I need. the last tutorial I checked out simply uses a while(true) loop..but I don't think that that's something good to keep a thread continuously busy... Do I have to create some background task? Do I have to create some web service? This is a school project and I wish not to go for the most difficult option, but if there is some sort of solution, challenge accepted :) Can you please help me? Since I have asked many questions here and yet I have no solution in mind
