• Google SEO - Migrating website from a sub-directory of another website to its own domain name

  At the present moment I have a website hosted on example.com/myWebsite, where example.com hosts in its root directory a different website. I have the domain example.net, which redirects to example.com/myWebsite. The point, however, that right now when somebody accesses example.net they are redirected to example.com/myWebsite and consequently to example.com/myWebsite/dirA, example.com/myWebsite/dirB etc.. I am now thinking about upgrading my account so that example.net no longer redirects to example.com - I was however wondering, however, since Google shows results searches in terms of example.com/myWebsite, how would this affect my rankings?

• Mobile traffic of my second site redirected to my base site [Edited,have a look]

  I have a strange issue with my website and it seems i am unable to understand what cauese the problem.I would highly appreciate your help.The Scenario is I have two websites. Website A Website B Website A is simply hosted within the root directory of my hosting account.Within this root *directory* i have a sub folder " subfolder A " and within which is another subfolder " subfolder B " that contains my site Website B so the path looks like root/sublfolder_A/subfolder_B/ that contains my **Website B ( i.e subfolder_B) ** All goes fine.When i access the website B from my desktop/Laptop Website B is loaded normally. but when i access the Website through a mobile device , mobile site of Website A is loaded while as it should load website_B Also , to let you know , both websites have different URL's and not subdomain's or anything. What could be the problem ? htaccess of website B or website A ? or something else ? • Configuration of LDAP client on 12.04

  We have here a way to log in the computers base on Ldap(openldap). You can use any seat with the login/pass you have. Well my problem is that everything worked fine till I had to upgrade Ubuntu to the last version (12.04). Now, it is far from impossible to log in because you only can choose administrator account! That would be my issue; I want to Lightdm allow me to choose the user e.g : pagonzalez or rmlago or whatever the login-name you have. I´ve been searching for 2 days now, and nothing comes up! Hope somebody here has any idea about it!

• No other users can access external hdd since upgrade to 12.10

  Since upgrading to Ubuntu 12.10 no other user can access the external hdd. This is awkward as its a family pc and we use the hdd to store music and save backups across the several accounts. The external hdd seems to mount just to my account now, i.e. /media/[user1]/[ext hdd], and while all the other users can see the drive mounted they can not access as they just receive a file location error. From their perspective it is mounted just in my profile and not in theirs. I have tried editing the properties of the hdd to allow others to view and create files on the hdd but that has not changed anything. I have also read that this is a new feature to Ubuntu 12.10, the way it mounts via /media/[user]/. So is there a way to have it mount to all the other user accounts too? Thanks!

  Given an object: With the bounds [x, y, z, width, height, depth] And an orthographic projection [left, right, bottom, top, near, far] I want to determine the radius of a sphere which allows me to randomly place my camera on so that: The object is fully visible from all positions on this sphere The sphere radius is the smallest possible value while still satisfying 1. Assume the object is centered around the origin. How can I find this radius? I'm currently using sqrt(width^2 + height^2 + depth^2) but I'm not sure that's the correct value, as it doesn't take the camera into account. Thanks for any advice. I'm sorry for confusing a few things here. My comments below should clarify what I'm trying to do actually.

• How do I create a subdomain for a site hosted by someone who does not allow it?

  I want to create a subdomain for a site hosted by Jimdo (a DIY website builder). Jimdo does not allow subdomains however. I am trying to find a workaround where a subdomain is hosted elsewhere but everything else remains as it is. E.g. I use their email service and I want to keep it. The domain is not hosted by Jimdo, but by a host that allows me to edit my zones. It points to the Jimdo NS. I have independent hosting where I have NS information. This is where I want to host my subdomain. My thinking was that I could use ZoneEdit as a "fork" that allows me to keep using my Jimdo page like before and, at the same time, directs a subdomain to another host. Provided this is possible: Question: How do I configure ZoneEdit CNAME or NS records to forward visitors to my website and my email to my Jimdo mail account while pointing a subdomain to another host?

  I currently run a Wedding Car website that is ranking in the top 5 for my local area, its not doing so well outside of that. I have listed the company in Google Business so it shows in the SERP and I have a Facebook and Twitter account linked, that I update regularly. I know keeping content fresh is important but nothing much changes so I am unsure what options I have? Should I create a blog and talk about the cars, weddings etc? I am totally unsure where to go with this website, the site currently has a few images and a small amount of text. • How to prevent script not to stop after apt-get?

  I keep some bash snippets and copy&paste them when I needed for management. But I discovered apt-get cancels script execution. Here's my script where problematic. apt-get -y install gcc g++ make cmake perl cd ~/ mkdir t1 cd t1 I copy & paste this script on OS X Terminal to Ubuntu 12.04 LTS server (fresh install on VM) Script always stop after apt-get finished. Or why my script stops after apt-get finished, and how to make it to continue?

I'm trying to segment my incoming traffic by page-type such that i can find out what percentage of traffic is going to zip code pages exclusively and what percentage is going to city/state level pages. I basically want to filter by URL structure to find out what percentage of total traffic zip code pages account for. The reason for doing this is to find out if Does Google Tag Manager help with this? • SharePoint Search Problem: The crawler could not communicate with the server.

  This one was not easy to solve ... Error: The crawler could not communicate with the server. Check that the server is available and that the firewall access is configured. Context: Some pages were not crawled (giving the above error) and, what is worse, all the sub content of that site was not crawled either! (the pages were the homepages of the site) Solution:The pages that could not be crawled due to this error contained a custom web part. This web part used default credentials for a given action. During crawling, the SP_Search account tried to perform this action but did not have the appropriate rights. • Calculating the force of an impact?

  I'm trying to figure out a way to determine the force two objects collide in. I have two vectors defining their linear velocity at the time of impact, their mass and their angular velocity. Keep in mind this is all for a 2D physics engine. I don't think it's as simple as adding up these values and figuring out if it's large enogh it makes a large impact since that doesn't take into account if the two objects are travelling in the same direction (as an example). Any ideas?

• HTML5 - check if font has loaded

  At present I load my font for my game in with @font-face For instance: @font-face { font-family: 'Orbitron'; src: url('res/orbitron-medium.ttf'); } and then reference it throughout my JS implementation as such: ctx.font = "12pt Orbitron"; where ctx is my 2d context from the canvas. However, I notice a certain lag time while the font is downloaded to the user. Is there a way I can use a default font until it is loaded in? Edit - I'll expand the question, because I hadn't taken the first comment into account. What would the proper method of handling this be in the case that a user has disabled custom fonts?

• Can't login to my XFCE environment from lxdm

  I installed lxdm as my display manager because I heard its very lightweight. Now after installing it when I select my Desktop as Xfce session I am not able to login. Basically what happens is it waits for sometime and than reload the same login page. On the other hand if I select lxde as my Desktop I am able to login. So, what am I doing wrong here. The other problem I am facing with lxdm is it doesn't show my default user account. I have to select more and enter both my username and password to login into any session.

• In a multiplayer game, should I store the list of character names on the Player class?

  I am writing a multiplayer game that has account system and character creation system like standart MMORPGs. I have a question about name creating issue. I think that I can create a static variable on Player class that keeps created player names but it confused me. It will tell me name is valid or unvalid depends on the other players has this name. Questions; Does implementation does make sense ? If i have 1000 players, is it means it consumes 1000 times of memory of this list? Or it just consume as like there is one? What is your suggestion for place that I can keep player name list? A new class?

• Black frame around screen after HDMI connection failure

  I was trying to watch a movie in my computer through the TV, so I connected both with an HDMI cable. I was unable to have a successful setup (the colors were all weird on the TV and the screen size, incorrect), I tried many resolutions using the nvidia-settings application and somehow my screen got framed by a black border and after that I have been unable to remove it, even after restarting the computer and not being connected to the HDMI cable anymore. I am using Ubuntu 11.10 amd64, my GPU is an nVidia GeForce 8600M GT and I am using the propietary driver version 280. The problem is due to some setting with my account only. I logged in to the guest session and the resolution is right there. Also, my desktop "thinks" the resolution is right (i.e. 1280x800), but it must be right in another scale because there is pixel area occupied by the black frame.

• Is it possible to use Back in Time with Ubuntu One without storing the back up files locally?

  I use Deja Dup as my back up tool. Love its simplicity and the fact that I can store my back up directly on my Ubuntu One account. Now I really like the flexibility of Back in Time, but I can not find a clean way to store my back up in Ubuntu One. Some threads suggest to use the Ubuntu One folder in your system, and that works, but it also keeps a local copy of the back up in my system, and I do not want that. Any work around for this? • Auto-provisioning hosting via API

  I've built a sort of 'software as a service' website package for a specific industry. What I am looking to do is create a payment gateway that allows users to subscribe-- and once the subscription is active, it would auto-provision a web hosting plan for them (a shared account on a server, probably in a chroot'd environment so each user would be insulated from others). Ideally it would auto-install a CMS as well. Tons of web hosts provide a simple reseller plan where I could manually create all the users' hosting accounts-- but so far none that I've found allow you to do this via API. Is there a way to do this short of writing custom shell scripts on something like an EC2 platform? I'd prefer to leave all the server maintenance in the hands of dedicated support staff rather than having to manually handle updates, backups, etc. Thanks for any tips.

• How to make a table structure for products to be available for both wholesale and retail?

  Ignoring the different column details like colors, shapes, and sizes, I already have an idea of dealing with that, I'm more interested in dealing with retail pricing, whole pricing (with or without a table), and possibly discount. If anything, I want to know what I should also take account for. Will it just be adding a quantity column, two pricing cols, and two discount columns, and a quantity limit? If I were to add a pricing table it would be inserted as a json file, would this be a bad idea? Please give any insight about this.

• phishing attack. Where do I start the cleanup?

  I'm a newbie webmaster. I've got a domain and a site... and no clue about the web (I'm OK with files and programs... ) I got a message from google that my site is a possible phishing site, with a link the the suspect page: http://www.mydomain.com/~phishers/Paypal/us/Confirm.php needless to say, I didn't put that up. Can someone point me to a good tutorial on what to do now? I'd like to figure out what happened so I can defend against it the next time around. How do I identify what kind of attach this is? Also, what is the tilde doing in the URL path? I couldn't find any path like this on my hosting account, so I'm not entirely sure how to delete it.

• Does it matter that the TTL is higher than I've been told?

  Ok, so the title isn't very descriptive, I know. Basically, I'm trying to configure Outlook.com to use my custom domain! I've followed the steps and made the account etc. and now I have the DNS settings to configure from Windows Live. I added the MX Entries and everything last night but Windows Live is still saying I need to prove my ownership of the domain. The only thing I can think of that I had to use a differrent TTL to the one provided because my web hoster will only allow a minimum of four hours, whereas Windows Live told me to configure the TTL as one hour. Would that stop anything? By the way, my web hoster is JustHost (Shared Hosting)

• access to site owner not working

  I made a website it works for everyone except for the site owner, who cannot access the site. He gets a server could not be found error. I went to his house and the issue occurs for all of his devices (PC, laptop, iPhone using WiFi) when I turn WiFi off the iPhone it works. So I thought it was a problem on his router so I reset is router to default factory settings but it still does not work, I have flushed his DNS cache and his browser cache. But nothing seems to help. He cannot even PING the server using the domain name. However when he uses the IP address he can see the site fine. I looked in cpanel for an blocked IP addresses but cannot see anything. What could be stopping just him from accessing the site via domainname and not the IP address? Site details are: PHP, osCommerce it is hosted by site5 on my reseller account.
