• GWT tries to load a deleted module

  I am using Eclispe with Google plugin for AppEngine and GWT. Recently I created a test GWT module, but eventually it has been deleted from the project and I can not find any sign of it in the project now. However, whenever I run the web app locally, I get in console the following message: Loading modules com.piq.exemity.Test [ERROR] Unable to find 'com/XXXXXX/Test.gwt.xml' on your classpath; could be a typo, or maybe you forgot to include a classpath entry for source? Has anyone got any idea where it can be hiding?

  I have: Tomcat with webapp deployed via mvn tomcat:redeploy. Monit, pinging the host and restarting server if ping failed. The thing is there in a moment during the redeployment when ping will fail - and this is normal, actually. So, the question is - what is the best way to teach monit to consider the fact of redeployment and not to confuse it with "real" black outs. This is of course an issue of balance between elegance, ease of implementation and scalability. The most straightforward solution I can think of - is just to shutdown monit before deployment and start it up after once again. But this if far from elegance I guess.

I've tried several guides over the internet but I still cant make it work. I tried: -Installing X Window System -Enabling FORWARDX11=yes in my sshd_config -Exporting $DISPLAY variable -Connecting through ssh -X user@host (simply stays there) How can I setup my box from scratch to make this work?

• Optimizing an iphone app for 3G in landscape with opengl, camera, quartz

  I have an iphone app that basically uses the camera, an opengl layer, and UIViews (some drawing with Quartz). It runs ok on 3GS, but on the 3G it is unusable. Particularly, when I press a UIButton, it literally takes sometimes 10 seconds to register the press. Shark doesn't do me much good because it crashes when I try to profile even a tiny portion, and I've tried turning off some of the layers to see if they might be obvious contributors to the lag. I've noticed that turning off the camera really helps. I'm wondering if anyone has any familiarity with this and might suggest some likely causes. I had issues with extreme slowdown from running my app in landscape mode and using transforms, so considered that might be a cause, but I'm wondering if hoping for a 3G to run something with all of the above elements is just not really possible considering the camera seems to really cost a lot. The fact that the buttons are horribly delayed in their response makes me think there is something fundamental that I might be missing.

  One of my clients uses Trend Micro InterScan Messaging Security to protect their internal mail services. Suddenly InterScan decided to filter out all messages coming from Google App Engine. Unfortunately they haven't been able to whitelist the sender address as each e-mail gets a different one. For example, *3ckihSOVMMHlZHSL.JSMMHlZHSL.JS*@apphosting.bounces.google.com, with everything before the @ being variable. Update I'm including this screenshot of how Interscan sees the incoming e-mail. Notice that all senders are different: If I look into the e-mail headers, the apphosting domain appears inside the Return-Path field: Return-Path: <36kSiSwYIBh0883XL3E7.5EH883XL3E7.5E@apphosting.bounces.google.com> The "From" field looks ok. It says what I set it to say, but the spam filter only looks at the Return-Path. My client sysadmin doesn't want to whitelist the whole apphosting domain, as it wouldn't be only whitelisting my application. How could I bypass this e-mail filters if I can't get an unique sender? • Combine Windows 8 app and settings search?

  While I've adapted to most things in windows 8 quite easily, I miss the 'combined' search feature of win 7 where pressing Win then typing would bring up all of the applications, settings and files (not that I ever really used the files part). Now, if I want to search settings I press win, start typing, then have to press the down arrow twice, then enter, then find the setting I want (I know I could press win-w, but that's just another thing to remember). Is there any way to bring back the 'unified search'?

I know that in order to run a java EE project, one needs a java EE compliant application server, such as tomcat, jboss, glashfish, etc. But, i download these to my desktop, but how about when i run it online? Are Jboss, tomcat, glashfish, etc. application servers just for your desktop, or are these the app server internet service providers have as well. I am trying to use godaddy as my internet service provider; i called them, but the customer service guy didnt know what application server they had, or did i ask the wrong question? • Pin same app multiple times in Windows 7

  I use some programs with command line arguments and like to have shortcuts for launching those programs with those arguments. For example, I keep several Firefox profiles around and like to specify the profile name on the command line. Similarly I have several Eclipse shortcuts with a command line argument specifying the workspace to open. I would like to be able to pin these shortcuts to the start menu or taskbar in Windows 7. The problem I have is that once I've pinned one of these, no other shortcuts which launch the same exe can be launched. I'm also open to suggestions such as a suitable desktop gadget which can contain a bunch of arbitrary shortcuts, yet remain in a fixed position on my desktop somewhere, or some way of adding a secondary taskbar (this was possible in XP).

• iPhone App with Web Service Access

  I have been asked to write a compliment website/service for an iPhone app. The app creates images. The author wants these images to be uploaded onto the server, into their personal storage area. These images need to be able to be pulled down to the iPhone later for editing. The user will be able to use the website as well to see these images. I have yet to decide (or understand) what the best way of implementing this would be. And with no experience with iPhone development I have no idea what it can actually handle.

• Has anyone setup tomcat to run virtual hosts using mod_jk

  I work in OSX primarily with mostly PHP. Normally I work locally using MAMP and virtual hosts setup in my httpd.conf so that I can point a browser to http://some-project and have as many projects as I need setup. We have a project coming up where we need to serve JSP pages and I would like to set up my local apache server to serve only JSP files to Tomcat and everything else to MAMP using the same virtual hosts setup in: ~/applications/MAMP/conf/apache/httpd.conf So far I have: Successfully installed Tomcat Placed mod_jd.so in ~/applications/MAMP/Library/modules/mod_jk.so Added the module by placing: LoadModule jk_module modules/mod_jk.so in ~/applications/MAMP/conf/apache/httpd.conf Created /Library/Tomcat/Home/conf/jk/workers.properties and added the following lines: workers.tomcat_home=/Library/Tomcat workers.java_home=/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.5.0/Home ps=/ worker.list=ajp12, ajp13 worker.ajp13.port=8009 worker.ajp13.host=localhost worker.ajp12.type=ajp13 worker.ajp13.mount=/*.jsp added the following lines: JkWorkersFile /Library/Tomcat/Home/conf/workers.properties JkLogFile /Library/Tomcat/Home/logs/mod_jk.log JkLogLevel debug to ~/applications/MAMP/conf/apache/httpd.conf I cannot start my MAMP however when these last two lines are present in my httpd.conf.   I have a pretty usual requirement with procmail but I am unable to get the results somehow. I have procmailrc file with this content: :0 * ^To.*@myhost | /usr/bin/python /work/scripts/privilege_emails_forward.py Wherein my custom python script(privilege_emails_forward.py) will be scanning through the email currently received and do some operations on the mail content. But I am unable to get the script getting executed at the first shot(let alone scanning through the mail content). Is this a correct way of invoking an external program(python) as soon as new mail arrives? And how does my python program(privilege_emails_forward.py) will receive the mail as input? I mean as sys.argv or stdin????

• Piping the output of a program to Preview.app

  I'm using an application (the dot program of the graphviz library) that generates a wide variety of file formats including PostScript and PDF. It can send the result to stdout or to a file. I'm currently sending it to a file and opening it with Preview. Is there any way to pipe the output and have it be read by Preview, so that I'd don't have to generate a file and have it lying around? This is going to be used by a number of people who won't know the internal structure of the generating script and I don't want to clutter their folders or complicate their lives. More generally, is there any way to take a program that sends its output to stdout and pass that output to an program that usually takes it's input from a file, without actually creating a file?

• How Can I prevent a specific application from being run on a specific machine using Group Policy?

  I know this is possible to do and I am working on it with limited success. I believe the Group Policy I want is "Do Not Run Specified Windows Applications" - I can enable this and add the .exe I want to the list of programs not to be run. I have tried this on my local machine by running gpedit.msc going to User Config Admin Templates System and then choosing that policy and editing and enabling it. Doing it this way verifies that it works as I could then not run the specified .exe (XenAppWeb.exe) So this is great. I have created a GPO to do the same thing in GP Management on my domain controller where we centralize this, enforced it, applied it to an OU, and put one of our machines into this OU to test it. I have let it sit there for 3 days, run gpupdate /force, and when I try to run XenAppWeb.exe on this machine, it still lets me run it fine. What can I look at to troubleshoot this? I should note that I am trying to enact this policy on Windows XP machines (Virtual Machines) Thanks, Mike

I need to get the best 8 minute window where some parameters are maximum. say a value x, which is dynamic for every second. if my activity runs for one hr,i get 3600 values for x. I need to find the best continuous 8 minute time interval where x value was the highest among all the others. if i capture say from 0th minute to 8th minute, there may be another time frame like 0.4 to 8.4 where it was maximum. the granularity is one second. every second we need to consider. basically the peak 8 minute window where x was maximum. please help me with the design

• OSX Mail.app send only plaintext but read as html

  I get email which seems properly plaintext formatted, but when I forward it out, the font size ends up being enormous and a few other formatting stupidities. So I tried the following: defaults write com.apple.mail PreferPlainText -bool TRUE And this works great, all outgoing email regardless of the text original is plaintext only, just the way I like it. But now for incoming email only the plaintext portions are available to read without going into View - Message - Raw Source (or something similar to that). Does anyone know how I can force only outgoing mail to include only plaintext, but continue to read incoming mail in the formatting it was intended?

• Running Ruby app on Apache

  I have been learning Ruby lately, and I want to upload a test web application to my server. But I can't figure out how to get it to run on my shared hosting. My Hosting Details Shared Hosting with JustHost (see here for list of features) OS: Linux Apache: 2.2.11 cPanel: 11.25.0-STABLE No SSH access. Can install Ruby Gems. Can't install Apache modules. Can "Manage Ruby on Rails Applications" through cPanel. Mongrel gem is installed. I built the following simple HelloWorld Ruby Rack app using Sinatra: #!/usr/bin/ruby ruby require 'rubygems' require 'sinatra' get '/hi' do "Hello World!" end I just can can't figure out how to "start" the application. Do I need to tell Mongrel (or maybe Apache) that the application exists somehow? How do I start this app running? I am happy to provide more info if needed.
