  • StringBufferInputStream Question in Java

    - by JJG
    I want to read an input string and return it as a UTF8 encoded string. SO I found an example on the Oracle/Sun website that used FileInputStream. I didn't want to read a file, but a string, so I changed it to StringBufferInputStream and used the code below. The method parameter jtext, is some Japanese text. Actually this method works great. The question is about the deprecated code. I had to put @SuppressWarnings because StringBufferInputStream is deprecated. I want to know is there a better way to get a string input stream? Is it ok just to leave it as is? I've spent so long trying to fix this problem that I don't want to change anything now I seem to have cracked it. @SuppressWarnings("deprecation") private String readInput(String jtext) { StringBuffer buffer = new StringBuffer(); try { StringBufferInputStream sbis = new StringBufferInputStream (jtext); InputStreamReader isr = new InputStreamReader(sbis, "UTF8"); Reader in = new BufferedReader(isr); int ch; while ((ch = in.read()) > -1) { buffer.append((char)ch); } in.close(); return buffer.toString(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); return null; } }

  • Facebook dialog appears but always says "An error has occurred"

    - by Conor James
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:fb="http://www.facebook.com/2008/fbml"> ... <head> ... <script src="http://connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1"></script> </head> <body> <div id="fb-root"></div> <fb:like id="fb-like" href="http://www.example.com" layout="button_count" show_faces="false" width="100"></fb:like> ... myscript.js: FB.ui( { method: 'stream.publish', message: 'getting educated about Facebook Connect', attachment: { name: 'Connect', caption: 'The Facebook Connect JavaScript SDK', description: ( 'A small JavaScript library that allows you to harness ' + 'the power of Facebook, bringing the user\'s identity, ' + 'social graph and distribution power to your site.' ), href: 'http://github.com/facebook/connect-js' }, action_links: [ { text: 'Code', href: 'http://github.com/facebook/connect-js' } ], user_message_prompt: 'Share your thoughts about Connect' }, function(response) { if (response && response.post_id) { alert('Post was published.'); } else { alert('Post was not published.'); } } ); I have Facebook like button on my page which works fine. But when I call the FB.ui method above from my JavaScript source, the Facebook dialog pops up but displays this error message: **An error occurred. Please try again later.** This has happened repeatedly for two days since I started trying to implement it. Not a very helpful error message. Any idea what might cause it or how to narrow down the problem?

  • how to get response from remote server

    - by ruhit
    I have made a desktop application in asp.net using c# that connecting with remote server.I am able to connect but how do i show that my login is successful or not. After that i want to retrieve data from the remote server..........so plz help me.I have written the below code..............is there any better way try { string strId = UserId_TextBox.Text; string strpasswrd = Password_TextBox.Text; ASCIIEncoding encoding = new ASCIIEncoding(); string postData = "UM_email=" + strId; postData += ("&UM_password=" + strpasswrd); byte[] data = encoding.GetBytes(postData); MessageBox.Show(postData); // Prepare web request... //HttpWebRequest myRequest = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create("http://localhost/ruhit/basic_framework/index.php?menu=login=" + postData); HttpWebRequest myRequest =(HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create("http://www.facebook.com/login.php=" + postData); myRequest.Method = "POST"; myRequest.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"; myRequest.ContentLength = data.Length; Stream newStream = myRequest.GetRequestStream(); // Send the data. newStream.Write(data, 0, data.Length); MessageBox.Show("u r now connected"); HttpWebResponse response = (HttpWebResponse)myRequest.GetResponse(); // WebResponse response = myRequest.GetResponse(); StreamReader reader = new StreamReader(response.GetResponseStream()); string str = reader.ReadLine(); while (str != null) { str = reader.ReadLine(); MessageBox.Show(str); } reader.Close(); newStream.Close(); } catch { MessageBox.Show("error connecting"); }

  • What hash algorithms are parallelizable? Optimizing the hashing of large files utilizing on multi-co

    - by DanO
    I'm interested in optimizing the hashing of some large files (optimizing wall clock time). The I/O has been optimized well enough already and the I/O device (local SSD) is only tapped at about 25% of capacity, while one of the CPU cores is completely maxed-out. I have more cores available, and in the future will likely have even more cores. So far I've only been able to tap into more cores if I happen to need multiple hashes of the same file, say an MD5 AND a SHA256 at the same time. I can use the same I/O stream to feed two or more hash algorithms, and I get the faster algorithms done for free (as far as wall clock time). As I understand most hash algorithms, each new bit changes the entire result, and it is inherently challenging/impossible to do in parallel. Are any of the mainstream hash algorithms parallelizable? Are there any non-mainstream hashes that are parallelizable (and that have at least a sample implementation available)? As future CPUs will trend toward more cores and a leveling off in clock speed, is there any way to improve the performance of file hashing? (other than liquid nitrogen cooled overclocking?) or is it inherently non-parallelizable?

  • Is this a safe way to release resources in Java?

    - by palto
    Usually when code needs some resource that needs to be released I see it done like this: InputStream in = null; try{ in = new FileInputStream("myfile.txt"); doSomethingWithStream(in); }finally{ if(in != null){ in.close(); } } What I don't like is that you have to initialize the variable to null and after that set it to another value and in the finally block check if the resource was initialized by checking if it is null. If it is not null, it needs to be released. I know I'm nitpicking, but I feel like this could be done cleaner. What I would like to do is this: InputStream in = new FileInputStream("myfile.txt"); try{ doSomethingWithStream(in); }finally{ in.close(); } To my eyes this looks almost as safe as the previous one. If resource initialization fails and it throws an exception, there's nothing to be done(since I didn't get the resource) so it doesn't have to be inside the try block. The only thing I'm worried is if there is some way(I'm not Java certified) that an exception or error can be thrown between operations? Even simpler example: Inputstream in = new FileInputStream("myfile.txt"); in.close(); Is there any way the stream would be left open that a try-finally block would prevent?

  • Thumbnail image saved with worse quality on Windows Server 2003

    - by Angelo
    Hello, In asp.net 2.0 application I am trying to create thumbnails from uploaded images. However when I test the application on my PC under Windows7 it works fine, but on the real Windows 2003 Server the resized image has worse quality. Where this difference could come from? Different JPEG codec or what, if Yes how it can be updated on Win 2003 Server? Thanks! Here is the code: Resize of the Image: Bitmap newBmp = new Bitmap(imgWidth, imgHeight, PixelFormat.Format24bppRgb); newBmp.SetResolution(inputBmp.HorizontalResolution, inputBmp.VerticalResolution); //Create a graphics object attached to the new bitmap Graphics newBmpGraphics = Graphics.FromImage(newBmp); newBmpGraphics.InterpolationMode = InterpolationMode.HighQualityBicubic; newBmpGraphics.SmoothingMode = SmoothingMode.HighQuality; newBmpGraphics.PixelOffsetMode = PixelOffsetMode.HighQuality; newBmpGraphics.DrawImage(inputBmp, new Rectangle(0, 0, imgWidth, imgHeight), new Rectangle(0, 0, inputBmp.Width, inputBmp.Height), GraphicsUnit.Pixel); Save of the Image: System.IO.Stream imgStream = new System.IO.MemoryStream(); //Get the ImageCodecInfo for the desired target format ImageCodecInfo destCodec = FindCodecForType(ImageMimeTypes.JPEG); if (destCodec == null) { //No codec available for that format throw new ArgumentException("The requested format image/jpeg does not have an available codec installed", "destFormat"); } //Create an EncoderParameters collection to contain the //parameters that control the dest format's encoder EncoderParameters destEncParams = new EncoderParameters(1); EncoderParameter qualityParam = new EncoderParameter(System.Drawing.Imaging.Encoder.Quality,(long)quality); destEncParams.Param[0] = qualityParam; //Save w/ the selected codec and encoder parameters inputBmp.Save(imgStream, destCodec, destEncParams); Bitmap destBitmap = new Bitmap(imgStream);

  • Why does fb:fan control disappear after login with requireSession on external page?

    - by Max
    Hi, Reqs: I want to make an external page with a 'Become a Fan'-button. I want users to login to facebook once they open the page (this is because of other features in the site) So I call FB.Connect.requireSession once the page loads, and put a <fb:fan></fb:fan> control on the page. Then when I open the page I see the 'Connect with Facebook to Continue' pop-up and a small 'Become a fan' button. This seems right. When I log in to Facebook using the pop-up the 'Become a fan button' disappears!! Can anyone explain this weird behaviour or does someone know a way to reach my requirements in a different way. Below you can see my code. Thanks in advance! <!-- Head --> <script src="http://static.ak.connect.facebook.com/js/api_lib/v0.4/FeatureLoader.js.php/nl_NL" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> var fbApiKey = "MY_KEY"; var fbXdReceiver = "xd_receiver.htm"; function fbLoad() { FB.init(fbApiKey, fbXdReceiver); FB.ensureInit(function() { FB.Connect.requireSession(null, null, false); }); } </script> <!-- Body onload="fbLoad();" --> <fb:fan profile_id="24932281961" name="Nutella" id="fanButton" stream="0" connections="0" logobar="0" width="250"></fb:fan>

  • .net Drawing.Graphics.FromImage() returns blank black image

    - by joox
    I'm trying to rescale uploaded jpeg in asp.net So I go: Image original = Image.FromStream(myPostedFile.InputStream); int w=original.Width, h=original.Height; using(Graphics g = Graphics.FromImage(original)) { g.ScaleTransform(0.5f, 0.5f); ... // e.g. using (Bitmap done = new Bitmap(w, h, g)) { done.Save( Server.MapPath(saveas), ImageFormat.Jpeg ); //saves blank black, though with correct width and height } } this saves a virgin black jpeg whatever file i give it. Though if i take input image stream immediately into done bitmap, it does recompress and save it fine, like: Image original = Image.FromStream(myPostedFile.InputStream); using (Bitmap done = new Bitmap(original)) { done.Save( Server.MapPath(saveas), ImageFormat.Jpeg ); } Do i have to make some magic with g? upd: i tried: Image original = Image.FromStream(fstream); int w=original.Width, h=original.Height; using(Bitmap b = new Bitmap(original)) //also tried new Bitmap(w,h) using (Graphics g = Graphics.FromImage(b)) { g.DrawImage(original, 0, 0, w, h); //also tried g.DrawImage(b, 0, 0, w, h) using (Bitmap done = new Bitmap(w, h, g)) { done.Save( Server.MapPath(saveas), ImageFormat.Jpeg ); } } same story - pure black of correct dimensions

  • How to control access to third party HTML pages

    - by Wylie
    Hello, We have a Learning Management System (LMS) that runs on its own server (IIS/Server 2003). Students must login with Forms authentication to gain access to the content. We want to offer access to third party flash and audio that is embedded in HTML pages hosted on the third party server (IIS/Server 2003). Currently we use a frame in a pop-up window that is populated via a simple URL to the third party HTML pages. How can the third party control access to their content, so that only students who launch the pop-up windows from our site can access their content? Since the content is mostly video and flash, we would prefer not to stream all of their content through our server to the Student. We have a programming staff, so we could maybe... - either post or get for our HTTP request to the third party server - we could use SSL - we could programmatically assign a global NT user account to all of our users and then do some kind of Active Directory login from the LMS server to the third party server - could the third party content be hosted at Amazon S3? Would this allow for secure access/download? These are just ideas. We really have no idea. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. TIA, Wylie

  • Facebook and rtl

    - by Benni
    Is there any good way to display rtl based languages (in this case Hebrew) in facbook? As soon as I include a page in rtl formating facebook it gives displays it ltr and usually aligned right. What definetly works is when I use dir="rtl" in the code. But then the fbml tag come out the other way round. And when I try to publish a stream it is not displayed correctly. Is there any support for rtl in facebook? Here is the code: $message = "?????? ??? ?? ???? - ??? ??? ????? .\""; $attachment = array( 'name' => '???? ?? ???? - ?? ??? ??? ?????', 'href' => 'http://apps.facebook.com/igodtest/', 'caption' => '{*actor*} took the Quiz!', 'description' => 'Take the Quiz yourself!', 'media' => array(array('type' => 'image', 'src' => '', 'href' => ''))); $action_links = array(array('text' => '', 'href' => '')); $attachment = json_encode($attachment); $action_links = json_encode($action_links); $facebook->api_client->stream_publish($message,$attachment,$action_links);

  • How to get number of bytes read from QTextStream

    - by user261882
    The following code I am using to find the number of read bytes from QFile. With some files it gives the correct file size, but with some files it gives me a value that is approximatively fileCSV.size()/2. I am sending two files that have same number of characters in it, but have different file sizes link text. Should i use some other objects for reading the QFile? QFile fileCSV("someFile.txt"); if ( !fileCSV.open(QIODevice::ReadOnly | QIODevice::Text)) emit errorOccurredReadingCSV(this); QTextStream textStreamCSV( &fileCSV ); // use a text stream int fileCSVSize = fileCSV.size()); qint64 reconstructedCSVFileSize = 0; while ( !textStreamCSV.atEnd() ) { QString line = textStreamCSV.readLine(); // line of text excluding '\n' if (!line.isEmpty()) { reconstructedCSVFileSize += line.size(); //this doesn't work always reconstructedCSVFileSize += 2; } else reconstructedCSVFileSize += 2; } I know that reading the size of QString is wrong, give me some other solutions if you can. Thank you.

  • Java File Handling, what did I do wrong?

    - by Urda
    Wrote up a basic file handler for a Java Homework assignment, and when I got the assignment back I had some notes about failing to catch a few instances: Buffer from file could have been null. File was not found File stream wasn't closed Here is the block of code that is used for opening a file: /** * Create a Filestream, Buffer, and a String to store the Buffer. */ FileInputStream fin = null; BufferedReader buffRead = null; String loadedString = null; /** Try to open the file from user input */ try { fin = new FileInputStream(programPath + fileToParse); buffRead = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(fin)); loadedString = buffRead.readLine(); fin.close(); } /** Catch the error if we can't open the file */ catch(IOException e) { System.err.println("CRITICAL: Unable to open text file!"); System.err.println("Exiting!"); System.exit(-1); } The one comment I had from him was that fin.close(); needed to be in a finally block, which I did not have at all. But I thought that the way I have created the try/catch it would have prevented an issue with the file not opening. Let me be clear on a few things: This is not for a current assignment (not trying to get someone to do my own work), I have already created my project and have been graded on it. I did not fully understand my Professor's reasoning myself. Finally, I do not have a lot of Java experience, so I was a little confused why my catch wasn't good enough.

  • sed script to remove file name duplicates

    - by dma_k
    Dear community, I hope the below task will be very easy for sed lovers. I am not sed-guru, but I need to express the following task in sed, as sed is more popular on Linux systems. The input text stream is something which is produced by "make depends" and looks like following: pgm2asc.o: pgm2asc.c ../include/config.h amiga.h list.h pgm2asc.h pnm.h \ output.h gocr.h unicode.h ocr1.h ocr0.h otsu.h barcode.h progress.h box.o: box.c gocr.h pnm.h ../include/config.h unicode.h list.h pgm2asc.h \ output.h database.o: database.c gocr.h pnm.h ../include/config.h unicode.h list.h \ pgm2asc.h output.h detect.o: detect.c pgm2asc.h pnm.h ../include/config.h output.h gocr.h \ unicode.h list.h I need to catch only C++ header files (i.e. ending with .h), make the list unique and print as space-separated list prepending src/ as a path-prefix. This is achieved by the following perl script: make libs-depends | perl -e 'while (<>) { while (/ ([\w\.\/]+?\.h)/g) { $a{$1} = 1; } } print join " ", map { "src/$_" } keys %a;' The output is: src/unicode.h src/pnm.h src/progress.h src/amiga.h src/ocr0.h src/ocr1.h src/otsu.h src/barcode.h src/gocr.h src/../include/config.h src/list.h src/pgm2asc.h src/output.h Please, help to express this in sed.

  • Could I return a FileStream as a generic interface to a file?

    - by Eric
    I'm writing a class interface that needs to return references to binary files. Typically I would provide a reference to a file as a file path. However, I'm considering storing some of the files (such as a small thumbnail) in a database directly rather then on a file system. In this case I don't want to add the extra step of reading the thumbnail out of the database onto the disc and then returning a path to the file for my program to read. I'd want to stream the image directly out of the database into my program and avoid writing anything to the disc unless the user explicit wants to save something. Would having my interface return a FileStreamor even a Imagemake sense? Then it would be up to the implementing class to determine if the source of the FileStream or Image is a file on a disc or binary data in a database. public interface MyInterface { string Thumbnail {get;} string Attachment {get;} } vs public interface MyInterface { Image Thumbnail {get;} FileStream Attachment {get;} }

  • Calculate the number of ways to roll a certain number

    - by helloworld
    I'm a high school Computer Science student, and today I was given a problem to: Program Description: There is a belief among dice players that in throwing three dice a ten is easier to get than a nine. Can you write a program that proves or disproves this belief? Have the computer compute all the possible ways three dice can be thrown: 1 + 1 + 1, 1 + 1 + 2, 1 + 1 + 3, etc. Add up each of these possibilities and see how many give nine as the result and how many give ten. If more give ten, then the belief is proven. I quickly worked out a brute force solution, as such int sum,tens,nines; tens=nines=0; for(int i=1;i<=6;i++){ for(int j=1;j<=6;j++){ for(int k=1;k<=6;k++){ sum=i+j+k; //Ternary operators are fun! tens+=((sum==10)?1:0); nines+=((sum==9)?1:0); } } } System.out.println("There are "+tens+" ways to roll a 10"); System.out.println("There are "+nines+" ways to roll a 9"); Which works just fine, and a brute force solution is what the teacher wanted us to do. However, it doesn't scale, and I am trying to find a way to make an algorithm that can calculate the number of ways to roll n dice to get a specific number. Therefore, I started generating the number of ways to get each sum with n dice. With 1 die, there is obviously 1 solution for each. I then calculated, through brute force, the combinations with 2 and 3 dice. These are for two: There are 1 ways to roll a 2 There are 2 ways to roll a 3 There are 3 ways to roll a 4 There are 4 ways to roll a 5 There are 5 ways to roll a 6 There are 6 ways to roll a 7 There are 5 ways to roll a 8 There are 4 ways to roll a 9 There are 3 ways to roll a 10 There are 2 ways to roll a 11 There are 1 ways to roll a 12 Which looks straightforward enough; it can be calculated with a simple linear absolute value function. But then things start getting trickier. With 3: There are 1 ways to roll a 3 There are 3 ways to roll a 4 There are 6 ways to roll a 5 There are 10 ways to roll a 6 There are 15 ways to roll a 7 There are 21 ways to roll a 8 There are 25 ways to roll a 9 There are 27 ways to roll a 10 There are 27 ways to roll a 11 There are 25 ways to roll a 12 There are 21 ways to roll a 13 There are 15 ways to roll a 14 There are 10 ways to roll a 15 There are 6 ways to roll a 16 There are 3 ways to roll a 17 There are 1 ways to roll a 18 So I look at that, and I think: Cool, Triangular numbers! However, then I notice those pesky 25s and 27s. So it's obviously not triangular numbers, but still some polynomial expansion, since it's symmetric. So I take to Google, and I come across this page that goes into some detail about how to do this with math. It is fairly easy(albeit long) to find this using repeated derivatives or expansion, but it would be much harder to program that for me. I didn't quite understand the second and third answers, since I have never encountered that notation or those concepts in my math studies before. Could someone please explain how I could write a program to do this, or explain the solutions given on that page, for my own understanding of combinatorics? EDIT: I'm looking for a mathematical way to solve this, that gives an exact theoretical number, not by simulating dice

  • Problem with HttpService POST

    I'm trying to send some data to PHP using HTTPService POST but for some reason it's not working. The same example works with GET but not with POST: private function start():void{ var param:Object = {}; param.date = "2010-10-10"; userRequest.send(param); userRequest.addEventListener(ResultEvent.RESULT, result); userRequest.addEventListener(FaultEvent.FAULT, fault); } private function fault(e:FaultEvent):void{ trace(e.message); } private function result(e:ResultEvent):void{ trace(e.result); } <mx:HTTPService id="userRequest" url="http://localhost:8888/api" useProxy="false" method="POST"/> And here's the PHP code: $d = $_POST['date']; echo $d; if($d == ""){ trace("Date not found!"); die(); } This is the error I'm getting: "Error #2032: Stream Error. URL: http://localhost:8888/api" But when I change the method in HTTPService to GET and in PHP I get the result as expected - PHP sends back the date: 2010-10-10 What am I doing wrong?

UIImage * imagee=[UIImage imageNamed:@"image.png"]; NSData *mydata=[NSData dataWithData:UIImagePNGRepresentation(imagee)]; const char *dbpath = [databasePath UTF8String]; NSString *insertSQL=[NSString stringWithFormat:@"insert into CONTACTS values(\"%@\",\"%@\")",@"Mathan",mydata]; NSLog(@"mydata %@",mydata); sqlite3_stmt *addStatement; const char *insert_stmt=[insertSQL UTF8String]; if (sqlite3_open(dbpath,&contactDB)==SQLITE_OK) { sqlite3_prepare_v2(contactDB,insert_stmt,-1,&addStatement,NULL); if (sqlite3_step(addStatement)==SQLITE_DONE) { sqlite3_bind_blob(addStatement,1, [mydata bytes], [mydata length], SQLITE_TRANSIENT); NSLog(@"Data saved"); } else{ NSLog(@"Some Error occured"); } sqlite3_close(contactDB); } else{ NSLog(@"Failure"); } have written some codes to retrive the data sqlite3_stmt *statement; if (sqlite3_open([databasePath UTF8String], &contactDB) == SQLITE_OK) { NSString *sql = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"SELECT * FROM contacts"]; if (sqlite3_prepare_v2( contactDB, [sql UTF8String], -1, &statement, nil) == SQLITE_OK) { while (sqlite3_step(statement) == SQLITE_ROW) { char *field1 = (char *) sqlite3_column_text(statement, 0); NSString *field1Str = [[NSString alloc] initWithUTF8String: field1]; NSLog(@"UserName %@",field1Str); NSData *data = [[NSData alloc] initWithBytes:sqlite3_column_blob(statement, 1) length:sqlite3_column_bytes(statement, 1)]; UIImage *newImage = [[UIImage alloc]initWithData:data]; NSLog(@"Image OBJ %@",newImage); NSLog(@"Image Data %@",data); } sqlite3_close(contactDB); } } sqlite3_finalize(statement); the problem is in log, inserted NSData object and retrieved NSData Objects are different (printing in log gives different stream) moreover Image OBJ is printed null in log.. Have seen similar questions in stackoverflow. But nothing seems to help. Please give some suggestions to overcome this issue.

  • PDFBox Pagebreak strange Nullpointer exception

    - by schneiti
    I currently try printing out text on multiple pages. For this, I count the number of rows and when they reach a fixed amount a method called pagebreakis executed. After the first pagebreak, when I try setting a font using contentstream.setFont(PDType1Font.HELVETICA, 12); it yields the following errormessage occuring at the described setFont-row. java.lang.NullPointerException at org.apache.pdfbox.pdmodel.edit.PDPageContentStream.setFont(PDPageContentStream.java:321) at com.xy.deu.xy.abc.db.schemavergleich.PDFDocumenter.drawBGCS(PDFDocumenter.java:781) at com.xy.deu.xy.abc.db.schemavergleich.PDFDocumenter.createPDFDocumentation(PDFDocumenter.java:205) at com.xy.deu.xy.abc.db.schemavergleich.MainClass.createPDFandOutput(MainClass.java:361) at com.xy.deu.xy.abc.db.schemavergleich.MainClass.start(MainClass.java:231) at com.xy.deu.xy.abc.db.schemavergleich.MainClass.main(MainClass.java:180) Below is the code that gets executed as the error occurs. ... // If Table gets to long for a page -> pagebreak: if(currentLines > 37) { pageBreak(currentLinePos); // TODO Currently causing app to crash } ... private void pageBreak(int currentLine) throws Exception { contentStream.endText(); contentStream.close(); // Create new page page = new PDPage(PDPage.PAGE_SIZE_A4); doc.addPage( page ); // Create a new font object selecting one of the PDF base fonts font = PDType1Font.HELVETICA; // Start a new content stream which will "hold" the to be created content contentStream = new PDPageContentStream(doc, page); currentLines = 0; mediabox = page.findMediaBox(); contentStream.beginText(); contentStream.moveTextPositionByAmount(startX, startY); contentStream.setFont(PDType1Font.HELVETICA, 12); } Now comes the strange thing: Debugging yields into nothing that is not set. I'll attach a screenshot for you right at the position where the error occurs:

  • forcing a download using PHP / jQuery

    - by Dirty-flow
    I know there are already many questions about forcing a download with PHP, but I can't find what I'm doing wrong and what should I do. I'm having an list with filenames, and I want to download one of them by clicking a button. My jQuery: $(".MappeDownload").on("click",function(e){ e.stopPropagation(); fileId=$(this).val() $.post("ajax/DownloadFile.php",{ id : fileId}) }) and on the server side I have a table with the file names and the file path. $sql = "SELECT vUploadPfad, vUploadOriginname FROM tabUpload WHERE zUploadId='$_POST[id]'"; $result = mysql_query($sql) or die(""); $file = mysql_fetch_array($result); $localfile = $file["vUploadPfad"]; $name=$file["vUploadOriginname"]; $fp = fopen($localfile, 'rb'); header("Cache-Control: "); header("Pragma: "); header("Content-Type: application/octet-stream"); header("Content-Length: " . filesize($localfile)); header("Content-Disposition: attachment; filename='".$name."';"); header("Content-Transfer-Encoding: binary\n"); fpassthru($fp); exit; The AJAX request is successful, I'm getting the right header(filesize, filename etc...) but the download are not starting.

  • Large Switch statements: Bad OOP?

    - by Mystere Man
    I've always been of the opinion that large switch statements are a symptom of bad OOP design. In the past, I've read articles that discuss this topic and they have provided altnerative OOP based approaches, typically based on polymorphism to instantiate the right object to handle the case. I'm now in a situation that has a monsterous switch statement based on a stream of data from a TCP socket in which the protocol consists of basically newline terminated command, followed by lines of data, followed by an end marker. The command can be one of 100 different commands, so I'd like to find a way to reduce this monster switch statement to something more manageable. I've done some googling to find the solutions I recall, but sadly, Google has become a wasteland of irrelevant results for many kinds of queries these days. Are there any patterns for this sort of problem? Any suggestions on possible implementations? One thought I had was to use a dictionary lookup, matching the command text to the object type to instantiate. This has the nice advantage of merely creating a new object and inserting a new command/type in the table for any new commands. However, this also has the problem of type explosion. I now need 100 new classes, plus I have to find a way to interface them cleanly to the data model. Is the "one true switch statement" really the way to go? I'd appreciate your thoughts, opinions, or comments.

  • Raspberry Pi broadcast serial port data to local network

    - by D051P0
    I didn't find anything to help me with this problem. What I want is: Serial device sends repeatedly some data to serial port. Raspberry Pi should get this data from RxD and stream it to local network via port 10001 without filtering it. So I can find this device on my pc. This should also work in other direction: Raspberry listen to port 10001 and forward all data from local network to TxD. I'm newbie in Linux World. How can I listen to some port on Raspberry Pi and send broadcast to the same port? I'm using Raspbian Wheezy with soft float. I have found a library Pi4j for Java, that I already use to get and write data from/to serial port. final Serial serial = SerialFactory.createInstance(); serial.addListener(new SerialDataListener() { public void dataReceived(SerialDataEvent event) { forward(event.getData()); } }); event.getData() is a String, which I want to broadcast in my local network. Is it generally a good Idea to use Java for that? I need also a String from port 10001, which I can forward to serial port.

  • Reference remotely located assembly (web uri) from locally installed application?

    - by moonground.de
    Hi Stackoverflowers! :) We have a .NET application for Windows which is installed locally by Microsoft Installer. Now we have the need to use additional assemblies which are located online at our Web Servers. We'd like to refer to a remote uri like https://www.ourserver.com/OurProductName/ExternalLib.dll and reveal additional functionality, which is described roughly by a known common ("AddIn/Plugin") Interface. These are not 3rd Party Plugins, we just want be able to exchange parts of the application frequently, without the need to have frequent software updates. Our first idea was to add some kind of "remote refence" in Visual Studio by setting the path to the remote assembly uri. But Visual Studio downloaded the assembly immediately to a temporary directory, adding a reference to it. Our second attempt then, is simply using a WebRequest (or WebClient) to retrieve a binary stream of the Assembly, loading it "from image" by using Assembly.Load(...). This actually works, but is not very elegant and requires more additional programming for verification etc. We hoped Clickonce would provide useful techniques but apparently it's suitable for standalone applications only. (Correct me?) Is there a way (.net native or by framework/api) to reference remotely located assemblies? Thanks in advance and have a happy easter!
