• Creating a process in a non-zero session from a service in windows-2008-server?

  Hi, I was wondering if there is a simple way for a service to create a process in user session? My service is running as a user(administrator) account and not as a LocalSystem acount, therefore i can't use the WTSQueryUserToken function. i have tried calling OpenProcessToken(GetCurrentProcess,TOKEN_ALL_ACCESS,TokenHandle); but when i use this token to run CreateProcessAsUser(TokenHandle,.....) my process is still running in session 0. how can i resolve this issue? I'm using an Ole automation so i don't really care on which session the process will be running on, as long it is not the session 0 - because the Ole from some reason doesn't create its processes (winword.exe for instance) in session 0, but rather it creates them in other user sessions. Any suggestions will be welcome. Thanks in advance.

• How do I specify the com+ server when registering a vb6 com+ application without using clireg?

  I've found lots of documentation on how to install com+ components with WiX or an exported msi from dcomcnfg but the problem with these approaches is I can't see where to specify the com+ server. Currently we register the components with clireg and the -s switch which allows us to specify the com+ server like so: clireg32.exe BLEH.VBR -s COMSERVER -t BLEH.TLB -d This is messy to say the least and I've been trying to get this into some automated form of installation that doesn't involve calling a batch file full of clireg32 calls. Currently WiX is the backbone of our packaging automation so a solution with WiX would be awesome. Thanks.

  Hello, (This question falls between programming and finding a tool, so I guess I'll ask here in SO since it has more activity than SuperUser.) I like the simplicity of SQLite, but by design, it doesn't support concurrent access. The apps I write don't have heavy needs, so I'd like to avoid heavier solutions like MySQL that are more difficult to deploy (remote customers with usually no computer personnel). Does someone know of a good solution that would offer the following features? Client available for VB.Net applications The server itself doesn't have to be a .Net application. Actually, I'd rather a bare-metal server so that it can run even on embedded Linux hosts with less RAM/CPU than regular PC's Easy install: the client part should either be statically linked inside the client application or be available as a single DLL, and the server should just be a single EXE listening for queries, à la Fossil (http://www.fossil-scm.org) clients can locate the server on the LAN by broadcasting data picked up by the server, so users don't have to write down the IP address and paste it into each client open-source, or moderately priced closed-source Thank you.

• Change namespace/filesystem folder names in Visual Studio

  I'm trying to change a namespace in Visual Studio. My folder structure looks something like this: GameAlpha/ GameAlpha.sln GameAlphaRelease/ GameAlphaTest/ GameAlphaLevelEditor/ These include namespaces like GameAlphaRelease. I want to change all this to GameBetaRelease. Before this process, it built fine. First, I changed the solution and project files from Alpha to Beta. Then, I did a "find-replace-all" on the namespace. Finally, I went through the properties of each project and changed the "Assembly Name" and "Default Namespace" to the appropriate Beta title. However, now the solution does not build. The error is: GameAlpha.accessor: The reference to 'GameAlpha.exe' was not found in the list of this projects references. (Project: GameBetaTest) What am I doing wrong? If I remove project GameBetaTest, the solution builds just fine. Also, what is the preferable way to change the names of the folders in the file system?

  Hi I'm developing an Eclipse product. In my plugin i have added an executable file (.exe) which i need to execute. When i launch the product from the eclipse, the file is referenced using the path of the executable on my file system and all went ok. When i export the product the plugin is packaged in a jar file which contains the executable file too. When it references the file the path is something like : $path_to_the_plugin_jar!/$path_to_exe_file_inside_the_jar Using this path to launch a new Process Thrown an exception. How can i refer to a file inside a jar?How could i execute the file? Can i extract the file when i export the product with eclipse? thanks

  [Environment] Server Sharepoint Portal Server 2003 Client Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0 Microsoft Office 2003 Hello~ Today I received a call from one of my client and she said that she received an alert, "Ambiguous name detected: tempDDE" when attemping to open a doc from library. So I googled some and found solutions from MS and others and modified from Normal.dot to Normal1.dot. But after that, when I opened it again from library another problem happend and it is the doc contents is not loaded. When I click the link of doc, then the WIN?WORD.exe pops up but the contents of the document is not showing up (Silent). I tried some Open the doc file using Word Open Menu (Library Link) = Worked Get the url of the file and open it uing using Word Open Menu = Worked Add the url to Trusted Site = Done but not helped Any advices are welcomed.   I have looked through the nant documentation and sourceforge faq and can't find the answer to this question. The exec task in nant puts ( ) around the command line parameters it generates, so for example this task below would generate: mallow ( -1 ) <exec program="${build.tools.wix}\mallow.exe" workingdir="${build.out.xxx}"> <arg value="-1" /> </exec> The other open source tool I'm using - mallow - cannot handle this. Does anyone know of a way to stop nant putting the ( ) around the arguments? Thanks.

  Hi, I have a installation setup with works like this: /exec.exe /some-command This whole setup is located on a shared disk to which my target machine have access to. All i want is to create a small MSI wrapper that basically executes the above command. I don't need to any other fancy things? I looked up on the web; there are tools that create MSI for you but they generate huge amount of other things with them as well. My need is very simple and straight forward.   I'm writing an add-on for IE using VC++ and ATL. It's a simple DLL and I have a text file that I use as a resource. This answer helped me in doing this. I have a question about updating resource. MSDN describes how to do it but there is a function (BeginUpdateResource) that need filename of exe or dll with resource. Is it possible to update resource in my DLL from my DLL? I can easily read it that way, but to update I have to provide DLL's name. Is it necessary? Also if I won't give full path to my DLL it looks for file on desktop and not where DLL is stored. I don't know why this behave like this.

  When starting Tomcat 6 on Windows 7 Enterprise with JRE 6 using C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0\bin\tomcat6.exe the application does not open and my event viewer has the message: "Disabled use of AcceptEx() WinSock2 API." The same installer of Tomcat worked on Windows Vista before I upgraded my operating system. Can anyone please suggest a way to fix this? The only site I can find mentioning this is http://www.apachelounge.com/viewtopic.php?p=4418 which suggests using this config setting "Win32DisableAcceptEx" - but it's for Apache, not Tomcat, and I have no idea where in what config file it might need to go in Tomcat.

• Invoking MSYS bash from Windows cmd

  I'm using GCC on Windows7 (using the TDM's build). I installed MSYS to be able to execute make and compile using makefiles. However, it is tedious to every time start up the MSYS bash shell, navigate to the directory of the project and run make. What I want is to automate this process. I prefer to have a batch file in Windows, or something similar, from which I then invoke the MSYS bash. It should navigate to the directory the batch file resides in and call "make". Is this possible? Can I send commands to MSYS bash from cmd (like navigation / invoking make)? Or can I let the MSYS bash run a "bash script", which sets the commands to be executed much like batch scripts? Thank you.   I have to perform some post mortem debugging on a C++ project. Known way to perform is to set the cdb debugger as a minidump generator and to process the dumps collects afterwards. I read nearly the whole web and I didn't find a solution to produce a minidump with the name of the process that has crashed Is there a way to set AeDebug\Debugger registry variable in such a manner that cdb generates a dump file with the name of the process ? When I encapsulate the call to cdb.exe in a batch file, it starts well but stays blocked on the symbol searching. I must perform a Ctrl+C in order to stop the batch, then the minidump, with the correct process name, is created... but of course I can't set up such a thing in an unattended production environment... Has anybody done that before ?

  I have AdventureWorks database mdf file in my VS 2010 project. Is there anyway I can create Membership tables inside my AdventureWorks database. I know I can detach the database attach in SQL SERVER 2008. Create the tables and then detach. But I don't have SQL SERVER 2008 and I want to see if this can be done using command line tool.   I'm a complete newbie to Windows and COM programming, trying to use com4j in order to call a COM object from Java. Com4j generates Java interfaces from COM definitions "often found in .ocx, .dll, .exe, and/or .tlb files" . It was easy for me to locate the .ocx file of my target COM object, but I have no clue regarding the standard interface iStream. Microsoft's documentation mentions OLE32.DLL ( c:\Windows\Windows32\Ole32.dll ?) , but neither the com4j generator nor oleviewer succeed in opening this file. Any hints?

• Outlook 2003 Add-In Setup Project with COM DLL Deployment Problem

  Hi, I developed an Outlook 2003 add-in which uses the com dll redemption. I created a visual studio 2008 setup project, added a custom action to run "caspol.exe -machine -addgroup 1 -strong -hex [key] -noname -noversion FullTrust -n \"Name\" -description \"desc\" and moved the registry keys under software to HKLM as described in http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc136646.aspx#AutoDeployVSTOse_InstallingtheAddinforAllUsers to ensure all-users compatibility. I included the redemption.dll in the setup with vsdrfCOMSelfReg (vsdrfCOM throwed an error). My problem is: When installing the setup on a test machine under an admin account, it runs fine under all users, however when we use the company wide software deployment which runs under a system account the setup executes but the add-in wont load. If I repair the installation with an admin account again it loads just fine. Shouldn't a system account have the required permissions to install all of the components? What options do I have? • CodeBlocks, GCC: change project language c and c++?

  When I select console project to start with, it lets you select c or c++, but once its created.. i can't figure out where to change it, and when you create a win32 gui application, it doesn't give you the option at all, and its default is c++.. where can i change to c? i have been looking in all the project settings for AGES. renaming my file from cpp to .c doesn't seem to do anything, it compiles the file as cpp. i know that without the ide, you just change your exe from g++ to gcc, but how do i set this for the current project in codeblocks?
