  • Get the ID of a Child in a cascade="all" relationship, while adding it to a collection, in Hibernate

    Hi, i have two Entities, "Parent" and "Child", that are linked through a bidirectional one-to-many relationship with the cascade attribute set to "all". When adding a Child object to the Parent children collection using the code below, i can't get the ID of the persisted child until i commit the transaction: Parent p = (Parent) session.load(Parent.class, pid); Child c = new Child(); p.addChild(c); // "c" hasn't an ID (is always zero) However, when i persist a child entity by explicitly calling the session.save() method, the ID is created and set immediately, even if the transaction hasn't been committed: Child c = new Child(); session.save(c); // "c" has an ID Is there a way to get the ID of the child entity immediately without calling the session.save() method?   • PHP upload file using PUT instead of POST

    I read something about this on PHP docs, but it's not celar to me: Do the most widely used browsers (IE, FF, Chrome, Safari, Opera, ...) support this PUT method to uplaod files? What HTML should I write to make the browser call the server via PUT request. I mean do I need to write a FORM with an INPUT file field and just replace the attribute method="POST" with the method="PUT"? On the PHP docs (link above) they say a PUT request is much simplier than a POST request when uploading file, along with this advantage, what other advantages/disadvanatges do the PUT has comapred to teh POST? Is it a violation of Dll Best Practices or ok to use in MFC extension DLL? thanks

I get no security warnings, which I used to get before the policy server was in place. Still, the connection to port 12869 doesn't work. It's made (I can see with Wireshark and on the server), but no data is sent by Flash. It might be worth knowing that the SWF itself is served from example.com as well.

    I need to use a shell across multiple ajax requests. Basically this means that the next request should be able to continue with the same shell where the other process left off. The purpose is to communicate with daemons like FTP to open an FTP connection and log in and in the next request continue with that connection and be able to use it for uploads. But it's not limited to only the FTP daemon (as I know that FTP is supported in PHP).

    I am developing an application in MVC 3. I installed this provider via Nuget . Basically, it allows to use any part of memberships, rules and profiles with a .sdf (compact) database. I need the "Web Site Administration Tool" use this provider. But I can not use it. Already checked the web.config and everything is ok. When I open the "Web Site Administration Tool" on the Security I click test (any provider) and the error happens. The following images.     How do you use C level factory methods in Swift? Let's try using a factory such as NewMusicSequence(). OSStatus status var sequence:MusicSequence status=NewMusicSequence(&sequence) This errors out with "error: variable 'sequence' passed by reference before being initialized". Set sequence to nil, and you get EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION. You can try being explicit like this: var sp:CMutablePointer<MusicSequence>=nil status=NewMusicSequence(sp) But then you get a bad access exception when you set sp to nil. If you don't set sp, you get an "error: variable 'sp' used before being initialized" Here's the reference.

    For an Android multiplayer game's communication between players I'm using a WebSocket server and TooTallNate's Java library on the client side to enable WebSocket support in the Android app. So just to point it out clearly, WebSocket support in mobile browsers is not important to me. Unfortunately, users report that they're experiencing problems such as connection failures or unreceived messages. Is that a general problem of WebSockets on mobile devices (blocked ports, firewalls, mobile Internet connection) or is that probably a flaw in the client side code? Do you have experience with WebSocket client libraries such as the one above? I've just discovered autobahn.ws for Android - but I don't know if it's worth switching from my current library (see above). What about WAMP? Is WebSocket technology not exactly the adequate solution so that I should use the sub-protocol (?) WAMP?

  • Best way to keep a large number of hobby projects alive; open sourcing?

    Because my time is limited I can usually only focus on one or two of my hobby projects, while the others sit there wasting away. I am looking for a solution that would allow me to divide my time better. is open sourcing where I take the role of guiding the project realistic, or are there better solutions? In my case, one project has a reasonably sized community of users going for it but is currently closed source. There have been requests to open source it.

  • WPF, Setting property with single value on multiple subcontrols

    I have a parent contentcontrol which displays data via a datatemplate. The datatemplate contains a stackpanel with several usercontols of the same type. I like to set the property only once on the parent control, it must set the value of the property on all the subcontrols. But if there is a way to do it on the stackpanel it's also OK. The template can be changed at runtime and the values need also to be propagated to the new template. My current solution is to implement the property on both parent and subcontrol and use code to propagate the value from the parent to all the subcontrols. My question is: is there a better or other ways of doing this?

    I am working on an application with multiple clients and a server running various web-services for the clients. To implement licensing I am thinking about using HTTPS as a protocol for the web-services using certificates that are issued by our company. By influencing the expiration date of a certificate for a client we can prevent them from using our software after their license term. It this possible and does it make sense to you? Additional information: I am planning on using Qt/C++ for the clients, and the Twisted framework for the web-services.

    Hi I'm developing a phonegap + JQueryMobile app, which should be correctly executed on Android, iOs and WindowsPhone as well. I need to exploit an external service wich requires one callback url to redirect the app to in case of success, and one in case of error (pretty common situation. In my case both will be local files, say www/success.html and www/error.html). Of course I could write different paths for each device (e.g. file:///android_asset/www/success.html on Android), but i'm wondering if the framework provide a more simple elegant solution. So the questions is, how can i get a unique absolute URL wich allows me to perform a cross-platform HTTP redirection from a remote web page to a local file within a phonegap application? Thanks

  • Mobile web on nokia devices not displaying centain elements

    So i have a site which is rendered with our in-house portal engine. It resizes images and adjusts style-sheets automatically in real-time. Issue is that some html elements are inexplicably disappearing due to what only can be described as HTML compatibility. But the problem is not consistent. And only seems to be an issue on some nokia devices. I have tried to install the Nokia Mobile Browser Emulator... but its the worst piece of software i have seen in my life... after 4 hours of installing and uninstalling different versions of JRE, i still can't get it to install.   • Anonymous comments not saved in Drupal

    For some reason I can no longer post a comment as an Anonymous user in my Drupal installation. I haven't tried in a while, so I'm not quite sure when this functionality was broken. I have Services installed, and I can post anonymous comments using comment.save. I have altered the Input Formats if that could break something. I have enabled both post comments and access comments on the anonymous user. The comments does not show up in the database. In fact, the native Drupal function comment_save isn't called when I try to comment as Anonymous (I check this by adding print_r($edit);die(); at the top of the comment_save function in comment.module. Also I read something that not having a User with the UID 0 would break the Anonymous commenting, this user exists (obviously, since commenting through Services works) I have tried out the AntiSpam module, and posted a comment as Anonymous that would get caught(and did) in the spamfilter, but this module is now disabled. I'm really running out of ideas here, does anyone have any other suggestions on what to do? In the meanwhile I'm going to attempt to backtrack the code to figure out why comment_save() isn't being called. Edit: Anonymous users also don't have to submit email and such to post, if that matters in any way.

It generally works OK, but it sometimes acts wrongly: When moving from 3 to 1, it correctly goes via 2. When going from 1 to 3 however, it goes via 4. When moving between 3 and 5, it goes via 4 in either direction instead of the shorter way via 6 What can be wrong?   • Disable Eventlogging for some events using Healthmonitoring

    I'm using basic healthmonitoring in an ASP.Net website. I'd like to prevent one event with a specific eventcode to appear in the eventlog. All other errors should be logged accordingly. I'd like to accomplish this using plain web.config settings. However I am unable to get it to work. Besides that, using IIS 5 on Windows XP does not write any events to the event log. I can't seem to find out what's wrong, on Windows 2003 it correctly logs the errors. Does anybody have an idea?

  • How do you make life easier for yourself when developing a really large database

    I am busy developing 2 web based systems with MySql databases and the amount of tables/views/stored routines is really becoming a lot and it is more and more challenging to handle the complexity. Now in programming languages we have namespacing e.g. Java packages, C++ namespaces to partition the software, grouping it together to make things more understandable. Databases on the other hand have more of a flat structure (MySql at least) e.g. tables and stored procedures are on the same level. So one have to be more creative, creating naming conventions, perhaps use more than one database or using tools to visualize things. What methods do you use to ease the pain? To be effective while developing your databases? To not get lost in a sea of tables and fields and stored procs? Feel free to mention tools you use also, but try to restrict it to open source and preferably Linux solutions if thats OK. b.t.w How many tables would a database have to be considered large in terms of design?

  • Maven: Multiple class with the same path implemented in different jar

    I'm running into trouble with having multiple class with the same path (i.e. same name, same package!!!). For some reason, gwt-dev comes with its own version of org.apache.xerces.jaxp.DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl and javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilderFactory. At the same time, spring also depends on these classes but from different jar. I don't know what should be, but look like xalan & xml-api are the two dependencies that spring depends on (these dependency are optional) Funny thing is that eclipse can run the same code (it's a unit test) without problem, but surefire cannot. So I guess the problem is due to the way each runner consider the priority of each jar. Now come to the question: How can I setup my POM so that I can sure that when ever any code running inside my app, then class from a jar will be selected over class from other jar? Thanks.
