Forward my http requests blindly through to a new server

I need to forward any http request from my old server IP to my new IP. I migrated servers and there are a few domains that have a high TTL and I could not update. Is it possible to take all HTTP requests from one server running centos/whm/php/apache 2+ and forward them to the new ip? Since I have hundreds of domains I'd prefer a solution that involves running an app on the linux box that will push requests automatically to the new box. Thoughts? Cheers

Remote Debugging and deployment of a Project Built Locally

We work on our projects locally, and deploy them on remote servers for testing. This is currently done via git commits/push/pulls. But the problem here is that most of the commit contain errors and/or break the code in significant manner due to the lack of testing. Is there a way we can deploy the code on the remote server without using git commits, or some sort of temporary commits or patch or any other mechanism? And only commit, whenever it is important.

MSI Arguments for installation

Does anyone know where to find various arguments for msi's, such as installing/running as administrator, or restart after installation. I am trying to push out an msi update through group policy, but after testing the msi I found out that it needs to be run as administrator to install, and that for it to begin working fully the computer needs to be rebooted. Browser Install with Bookmarks

Goal: Install firefox and chrome with a default set of bookmarks on Windows 7 x86. The immediate need is for freshly imaged machines to have bookmarks. So I'm looking for an msi /flag or something to either import bookmarks for a file or import settings from IE. Another possibility it seems is push installers/import actions from GPO on the domain. Seems like this might be best since if stuff changes in the future I can update as needed. I'm open to other options as well.

Rsync with a list of variables

I am trying to write a bash script that will rsync only a specific subset of folders. I am trying to figure out a more slick so that I can just add a variables such as FOLDER1='name of folder in home directory' and then rsync -arvz --delete /home/emka/$FOLDER1/ /home/emka/Desktop/Mount/$FOLDER1 Currently I have FOLDER1 through FOLDER13, but I do not want to have the above line thirteen times. Could someone give me a push on how to do this?

Extjs Tooltips, IFrames and IE => Problems

I have an application using OpenLayers, Extjs and GeoExt. My application runs fine, but I need it to be placed inside an IFrame in another page. When doing this, my toolbar becomes responseless in Internet Explorer. The cause is Ext.QuickTips.init();. Comment out this line and everything works fine - except the quick tips ofcourse =) But why is it causing problems? Is it because I'm using it wrong, placing it wrong or just because it doesn't like IE and IFrames? Java: immutability, overuse of stack -- better data structure?

I overused hashSets but it was slow, then changed to Stacks, speed boost-up. Poly's reply uses Collections.emptyList() as immutable list, cutting out excess null-checkers. No Collections.emptyStack(). Combining the words stack and immutability, from the last experiences, gets "immutable stack" (probably not related to functional prog). Java Api 5 for list interface shows that Stack is an implementing class for list and arraylist, here. The java.coccurrent pkg does not have any immutable Stack data structure. The first hinted of misusing stack. The lack of immutabily in the last and poly's book recommendation leads way to list. Something very primitive, fast, no extra layers, with methods like emptyThing(). Cannot use WCF service from windows mobile 5: no endpoint found.

Hi All, I'm trying to figure out how to call a WCF service from a windows smart phone. I have a very simple smartphone console app, which does nothing but launch and make 1 call to the service. The service simply returns a string. I am able to instantiate the proxy class but when i call the method it throws an exception: There was no endpoint listening at http://mypcname/Service1.svc/basic that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details. The inner exception: Could not establish connection to network. I've tried to follow this tutorial on setting up services with windows mobile. I've used the NetCFSvcUtil to create the proxy classes. I have the service running on IIS on my machine and had the Util consume the wsdl from that location. I've created a basic http binding as suggested in the article and i think i've pointed the proxy at the correct uri. Here some sections of relevant code in case it's helpful to see. I never questioned it before, I just assumed the order would hold because this technique has always worked for me in the other browsers. How do you get XML::Pastor to set xsi:type for programmatically generated elements?

I'm learning how to use Perl as an automation test framework tool for a Java web service and running into trouble generating xml requests from the Pastor generated modules. The problem is that when including a type that extends from the required type for an element, the xsi:type is not included in the generated xml string. Backbone.js Model validation fails to prevent Model from saving

I have defined a validate method for a Backbone.js Model. The problem is that even if validation fails (i.e. the Model.validate method returns a value) the post/put request is still sent to the server. This contradicts what is explained in the Backbone.js documentation. I cannot understand what I am doing wrong. Failed to load Cairo

We're running a Ubuntu Server VM with OpenCPU (that's an API for R). Unfortunately we're unable to get the Cairo R package to play, the error message (from within R) is as follows: unable to load shared object '/usr/lib/R/library/grDevices/libs//cairo.so': /usr/local/lib/libgmodule-2.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_rec_mutex_lock 2: In png() : failed to load cairo DLL We've tried purging and reinstalling cairo and libcairo and we both tried building the Cairo R package from source as well as using a precompiled version from Michael Rutter's ppas (all seems to work without errors). Unfortunately none of us are real Ubuntu natives and thus we probably did some pretty amateur debugging. Any push in the right direction would be very appreciated. For example, we couldn't figure out how to reinstall whatever libgmodule refers to.

Introducing the Earthquake Locator – A Bing Maps Silverlight Application, part 1

The recent wave of earthquakes (no pun intended) being reported in the news got me wondering about the frequency and severity of earthquakes around the world. Since I’ve been doing a lot of Silverlight development lately, I decided to scratch my curiosity with a nice little Bing Maps application that will show the location and relative strength of recent seismic activity. Here is a list of technologies this application will utilize, so be sure to have everything downloaded and installed if you plan on following along. Silverlight 3 WCF RIA Services Bing Maps Silverlight Control * Managed Extensibility Framework (optional) MVVM Light Toolkit (optional) log4net (optional) * If you are new to Bing Maps or have not signed up for a Developer Account, you will need to visit www.bingmapsportal.com to request a Bing Maps key for your application. Getting Started We start out by creating a new Silverlight Application called EarthquakeLocator and specify that we want to automatically create the Web Application Project with RIA Services enabled. I cleaned up the web app by removing the Default.aspx and EarthquakeLocatorTestPage.html. Then I renamed the EarthquakeLocatorTestPage.aspx to Default.aspx and set it as my start page. I also set the development server to use a specific port, as shown below. RIA Services Next, I created a Services folder in the EarthquakeLocator.Web project and added a new Domain Service Class called EarthquakeService.cs. This is the RIA Services Domain Service that will provide earthquake data for our client application. I am not using LINQ to SQL or Entity Framework, so I will use the <empty domain service class> option. We will be pulling data from an external Atom feed, but this example could just as easily pull data from a database or another web service. This is an important distinction to point out because each scenario I just mentioned could potentially use a different Domain Service base class (i.e. LinqToSqlDomainService<TDataContext>). Now we can start adding Query methods to our EarthquakeService that pull data from the USGS web site. The reason being that it is the only public instance method and it returns an IQueryable<Earthquake> collection that can be consumed by the client application. GetEarthquakes() calls the static GetFeed(String) method, which utilizes the built in SyndicationFeed API to load the external data feed. You will need to add a reference to the System.ServiceModel.Web library in order to take advantage of the RSS/Atom reader. The API will also allow you to create your own feeds to serve up in your applications. Model I have also created a Model folder and added a new class, Earthquake.cs. The Earthquake object will hold the various properties returned from the Atom feed. Here is a sample of the code for that class. I have chosen to use the MVVM Light Toolkit for the Earthquake Locator, but there are other options out there if you prefer another library. That said, I went ahead and created a ViewModel folder in the Silverlight project and added a EarthquakeViewModel class that derives from ViewModelBase. Be sure to read through the LoadEarthquakes() method, which handles calling the GetEarthquakes() method in our EarthquakeService via the EarthquakeContext proxy, and also transfers the loaded entities into the view model’s Earthquakes collection. Another thing to notice is what’s going on in the default constructor. I chose to use the Managed Extensibility Framework (MEF) for my composition needs, but you can use any dependency injection library or none at all. Usually, I would create a Views folder to place all of my View controls in, but I took the easy way out and added the following XAML code to the default MainPage.xaml file. Be sure to add the bing prefix associating the Microsoft.Maps.MapControl namespace after adding the assembly reference to your project. The MVVM Light Toolkit project templates come with a ViewModelLocator class that you can use via a static resource, but I am instantiating the EarthquakeViewModel directly in my user control. I am setting the AutoLoadData property to true as a way to trigger the LoadEarthquakes() method call. Creating an ASP.NET report using VS 2010 Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3: Raj Kaimal has a nice three part set of blog posts that detail how to use SQL Server Reporting Services, ASP.NET 4 and VS 2010 to create a dynamic reporting solution. Three Hidden Extensibility Gems in ASP.NET 4: Phil Haack blogs about three obscure but useful extensibility points enabled with ASP.NET 4. .NET 4 Entity Framework 4 Video Series: Julie Lerman has a nice, free, 7-part video series on MSDN that walks through how to use the new EF4 capabilities with VS 2010 and .NET 4. I’ll be covering EF4 in a blog series that I’m going to start shortly as well. Getting Lazy with System.Lazy: System.Lazy and System.Lazy<T> are new features in .NET 4 that provide a way to create objects that may need to perform time consuming operations and defer the execution of the operation until it is needed. Derik Whittaker has a nice write-up that describes how to use it. LINQ to Twitter: Nifty open source library on Codeplex that enables you to use LINQ syntax to query Twitter. Visual Studio 2010 Using Intellitrace in VS 2010: Chris Koenig has a nice 10 minute video that demonstrates how to use the new Intellitrace features of VS 2010 to enable DVR playback of your debug sessions. Make the VS 2010 IDE Colors look like VS 2008: Scott Hanselman has a nice blog post that covers the Visual Studio Color Theme Editor extension – which allows you to customize the VS 2010 IDE however you want. How to understand your code using Dependency Graphs, Sequence Diagrams, and the Architecture Explorer: Jennifer Marsman has a nice blog post describes how to take advantage of some of the new architecture features within VS 2010 to quickly analyze applications and legacy code-bases. How to maintain control of your code using Layer Diagrams: Another great blog post by Jennifer Marsman that demonstrates how to setup a “layer diagram” within VS 2010 to enforce clean layering within your applications. This enables you to enforce a compiler error if someone inadvertently violates a layer design rule. Collapse Selection in Solution Explorer Extension: Useful VS 2010 extension that enables you to quickly collapse “child nodes” within the Visual Studio Solution Explorer. If you have deeply nested project structures this extension is useful. Silverlight and Windows Phone 7 Building a Simple Windows Phone 7 Application: A nice tutorial blog post that demonstrates how to take advantage of Expression Blend to create an animated Windows Phone 7 application. I'm trying to commit some files in my Git repository, and I'm receiving this error. This all started when I ran git rm -rf folder and git rm -rf file and tried to commit the changes. I've since been able to commit and push without these files being deleted from my remote repository, however I'm now completely stuck. The full error is: error: a NUL byte in commit log message not allowed. fatal: failed to write commit object What can I do to fix this? My Google-fu has let me down on this one. Edit: I've just checked out these deleted files, and attempted to commit again, but it's still giving me the same error. Has my Git repo been corrupted or something?
