  • Can't Reboot into Windows 8.1 from Ubuntu

    I am newb in Ubuntu. Currently I am using an Acer V11 laptop with a pre-intalled Windows 8.1. I follow some guideline (http://www.everydaylinuxuser.com/2014/05/install-ubuntu-1404-alongside-windows.html) which successfully install Ubuntu 14.04 LTS alongside Windows 8.1 with UEFI enabled all the way throughout the installation and my current usage and a GRUB. But I got into some problem. The dual boot mostly works fine as I am able to successfully boot into either one of the Windows 8.1 or Ubuntu when stating my laptop. However it ran into issue after I start the device and use Ubuntu for a while (2 hour for instance) and then restart it: If I press the restart from Ubuntu, the grub still shows and I am still able to choose the Windows Boot Manager. But the Windows loading process was stuck at the Acer Loading Screen and I am not able to see the standard circular Win8 loading progress bar. Does someone know why would this happens?

For example, TSD01268 = normal action successful TSD01236 = missing referenced file (fail) TSD01237 = missing script file (fail) TSD00566 = deployment script generated to _ The way we are wrapping calls to VsDbCmd.exe means catching the %errorlevel% isn't always reliable so we also like to check the output for certain error conditions. It would be nice to see a consolidated list somewhere.

    I have been having problem installing php-fpm for use with apache2-mpm-worker. This is the guide that I am following. According to the guide's Step 5, Alias /php5-fcgi /usr/lib/cgi-bin/php5-fcgi FastCgiExternalServer /usr/lib/cgi-bin/php5-fcgi -host 127.0.0.1:9000 -pass-header Authorization However I cannot find php5-fcgi at /usr/lib, but only /usr/bin/php5-cgi and /usr/bin/php-cgi, which I am not sure if they are the same.   • multiple ip for a server not reachable

    FYI: I've read everything on Serverfault related to this question and have faced a different issue. Simply put, I've got one server (apache2) with couple of sites on it. It currently has 1 ip. I'm trying to assign/add another ip to that server, so I can give each site a different ip for ssl purposes. I am not lucking out. The new ip simply is unreachable, I've pinged it.   • Is Apache 2.2.22 able to sustain 1.000 simultaneous connected clients?

    For an article in a news paper, I'm benchmarking 5 different web servers (Apache2, Cherokee, Lighttpd, Monkey and Nginx). The tests made consist of measuring the execution times as well as different parameters such as the number of request served per second, the amount of RAM, the CPU used, during a growing load of simultaneous clients (from 1 to 1.000 with a step of 10) each client sending 1.000.000 requets of a small fixed file, then of a medium fixed file, then a small dynamic content (hello.php) and finally a complex dynamic content (the computation of the reimbursment of a loan). All the web servers are able to sustain such a load (up to 1.000 clients) but Apache2 which always stops to respond when the test reach 450 to 500 simultaneous clients. My configuration is : CPU: AMD FX 8150 8 cores @ 4.2 GHz RAM: 32 Gb.   • Virtual Server HDD shrinks without apparent reason

    We have a virtual hosted Linux server, and in the last few months every now and then the HDD shrinks from 400GB down to the exact byte count that is in use. All existing data can be downloaded and displayed without a problem, but we can't upload or edit any files because of the "full" hard drive. Here is a screenshot, where "size" should be 400GB: This has happened twice before, and again today. The last times, when I reported the issue to the host, they said "that isn't possible, you must be doing it wrong", but soon after the call, the problem vanished without us doing anything, so I suppose that they have some kind of problem they're not willing to admit. Even after the fact, they acted like nothing was wrong and wrote me a mail in which they explained that I can use "df -h" to view available disk space (well duh, how do you think I noticed this particular issue?). Questions about if and what they had done were ignored. It has happened around the 25th to 28th of the month, so I suspect that they might have a cronjob running every 30 days or so which wreaks havoc with some VM configs. I just want to understand the problem, but the host support hasn't been very helpful in that regard. I have tried Googling the issue, but any combination of search terms I can come up with just gives me tutorials on how to change HDD size in a virtual machine. a) What could be the cause of shrinking HDD size in a Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS server? Could there be anything in our virtual machine or is it more likely to be an issue with the vm host? b) Can I do anything about it without needing to contact the host's support? c) Is there anyway I can prevent this from happening at all?

  • Windows Web Server 2008 R2 Server Core local password complexity

    How can I disable the local user account password complexity settings on Windows 2008 R2 "Server Core"? I am trying to migrate our windows 2003 web server to windows 2008 R2. I am trying to see if I can use the "Server Core" install, and it has been a very internet search intensive experience. What I can't find out how to do is to find out how to disable password complexity for local user accounts. While our user account generator currently creates nice strong passwords, there was a time when this was not the case and unfortunately forcing the users to change their password is not an option at this time.   • SQL Server indexed view matching of views with joins not working

    Does anyone have experience of when SQL Servr 2008 R2 is able to automatically match indexed view (also known as materialized views) that contain joins to a query? for example the view select dbo.Orders.Date, dbo.OrderDetails.ProductID from dbo.OrderDetails join dbo.Orders on dbo.OrderDetails.OrderID = dbo.Orders.ID cannot be automatically matched to the same exact query. When I select directly from this view ith (noexpand) I actually get a much faster query plan that does a scan on the clustered index of the indexed view. Can I get SQL Server to do this matching automatically? I have quite a few queries and views... I am on enterprise edition of SQL Server 2008 R2.

  • Unable to add FromName to e-mail using cdosys in SQL Server 2008

    I have a piece of cdosys code which runs correctly and generates e-mail with my SQL Server 2008 server talking to a MS Exchange 2003 Server. However the from name is not appearing on the e-mails when they arrive. Is there a fault in the code is it not possible this way?     I have seen this question pop-up on stackoverflow a few times but haven't found a good solution yet. I am looking for recommendations on Virtual Private Server Hosting featuring Windows Server 2008 plus MS SQL database capabilities. I have seen people suggest webhost4life.com, hostmysite.com and others but they do not offer windows server 2008 hosting, only 2003. I have also looked at mosso and aspnix.com. Mosso seems like a good move, but an hoping to find something below $100 a month and I have heard extremel mixed reviews on aspnix.com. Thanks for the help.

On the server I have uncommented the following lines of /etc/ssh/sshd_config: X11Forwarding yes AllowTcpForwarding yes Now I try to ssh in, but I get the following error messages (and Xforwarding isn't working). $ssh -Y example.com /usr/bin/xauth: /home/dan/.Xauthority not writable, changes will be ignored $ssh -X example.com /usr/bin/xauth: error in locking authority file /home/dan/.Xauthority Any suggestions?     I recently purchased a nice asus 1000HE, and installed Ubuntu NBR. However, I'm pretty disappointed with how sluggish it feels. I'm wondering if I maybe need to install a closed-source graphics driver - it feels similar to how my work laptop performed before I installed the restricted nvidia driver on that machine.
