  • Combining database tables

    Hi all, I have two tables which look kind of similar and i was thinking about combining them and thought i would get some input from everyone. Here's what they currently look like: Issues Id | IssueCategory | IssueType | Status | etc.. ------------------------------------------------- 123 | Copier | Broken | Open | 124 | Hardware | Missing | Open | CopierIssueDetails Id | IssueId | SerialNumber | Make | Model | TonerNumber | LastCount --------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 | 123 | W12134 | Dell | X1234 | 12344555 | 500120 HardwareTicketDetails Id | IssueId | EquipmentNumber | Make | Model | Location | Toner | Monitor | Mouse ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 | 124 | X1123113 | Dell | XXXX | 1st floor | 0 | 1 | 0 What do you guys think about combining these two tables into one. Would it be a good idea or is it better to keep them separated like this? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    I am having trouble trying to pass an extra variable in the url to my wordpress installation. For example /news?c=123 For some reason, it works only on the website root www.example.com?c=123 but it does not work if the url contains any more information www.example.com/news?c=123. I have the following code in my functions.php file in the theme directory. if (isset($_GET['c'])) { setcookie("cCookie", $_GET['c']); } if (isset($_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER'])) { setcookie("rCookie", $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']); } Any Ideas?

  • marshal Map<String, String> to .xml

    If I have Map setup like: map.put("foo", "123"); map.put("bar", "456"); map.put("baz", "789"); then I want to do something like: for (String key : map.keySet().toArray(new String[0])) { // marshall out to .xml a tag with the name key and the // value map.get(key) } So what it will marshal out is something like: <map> <foo>123</foo> <bar>456</bar> <baz>789</baz> </map> Can I do this with some fancy JAXB annotations or is there something else that lends it self to dynamic element names?   • Understanding Incrementing

    For example this: var a = 123; var b = a++; now a contains 124 and b contains 123 I understand that b is taking the value of a and then a is being incremented. However, I don't understand why this is so. The principal reason for why the creators of JavaScript would want this. Is this really more useful than doing it the PHP way? What is the advantage to this other than confusing newbies?

Need to retrieve current best scores of all contestants ordered by score: Best Entries Report Name Entry_Id Score ---- -------- ----- Fred 5 19 Irving 2 22 Grizelda 4 123 I can certainly get this done with many queries. My question is whether there's a way to get the result with one, efficient SQL query. I can almost see how to do it with GROUP BY, but not quite. In case it's relevant, the environment is Rails ActiveRecord and PostgreSQL.

  • How do I create a list of timedeltas in python?

    I've been searching through this website and have seen multiple references to time deltas, but haven't quite found what I'm looking for. Basically, I have a list of messages that are received by a comms server and I want to calcuate the latency time between each message out and in. It looks like this: 161336.934072 - TMsg out: [O] enter order. RefID [123] OrdID [4568] 161336.934159 - TMsg in: [A] accepted. ordID [456] RefNumber [123] Mixed in with these messages are other messages as well, however, I only want to capture the difference between the Out messages and in messages with the same RefID. So far, to sort out from the main log which messages are Tmessages I've been doing this, but it's really inefficient. I don't need to be making new files everytime.: big_file = open('C:/Users/kdalton/Documents/Minicomm.txt', 'r') small_file1 = open('small_file1.txt', 'w') for line in big_file: if 'T' in line: small_file1.write(line) big_file.close() small_file1.close() How do I calculate the time deltas between the two messages and sort out these messages from the main log?

  • MySQL SELECT WHERE returning empty with long numbers, although they are there

    Alright, so basically the most simple query ever... I've done this a million times... SELECT * FROM purchased_items WHERE uid = '$uid' if $uid == 123 It works fine and returns all data in rows where uid is 123 if $uid == 351565051447743 It returns empty... I'm positive 351565051447743 is a possible uid in some rows, i literally copied and pasted it into the table. $uid is a string, and is being passed as a string. This is something i've done a million times, and i've never had this simple query not work. Any ideas why this is not working?

  • Checking for duplicates with nested forms

    I'm making a rails 3.2.9 app that allows users to create pages and they can embed youtube videos through a nested form. I'm trying to figure out how to make it so that I can prevent duplicate video records from being stored in my db. So I have a Video model that takes the youtube url and just parses out the video id and stores that instead of the full user submitted youtube url, which may have extraneous url query parameters. So here's the situation that I'm trying to figure out: There's page1 with video1 - url: 123 and video2 - url: abc Then another user creates page2 and submits video3 - url: def and video4 - url: 123 Currently each page has_many videos. But I think I should change it to a many-to-many relationship. But how would I make it so that the url submitted as video4 in the nested form points to video1? Also I how would I make a nested form that creates objects that are connected through a join table?

MS-Access DB. i do: INSERT INTO Orders (userId) VALUES (123)" what i want to retrieve is orderNumber from that row. its an auto-increment number. so i did: SELECT orderNumber FROM Orders WHERE userId=123 but since it is on the same page, the SELECT returns: Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted.     I'm studying software engineering, and came across this exercise: it asks to write a recursive function in C language that receives a positive integer and an empty string, and "translates" the number into a string. Meaning that after calling the function, the string we sent would contain the number but as a string of its digits. I wrote this function, but when I tried printing the string, it did print the number I sent, but in reverse. This is the function: void strnum(int n, char *str) { if(n) { strnum(n/10, str+1); *str = n%10 + '0'; } } For example, I sent the number 123 on function call, and the output was 321 instead of 123. I also tried exchanging the two lines within the if statement, and it still does the same. I can't figure out what I did wrong. Can someone help please? NOTE: Use of while and for loop statements is not allowed for the exercise.

    Hi guys, thanks in advance for any help on this topic! I'm sure this has a very simply answer, but I can't seem to find it (not sure what to search on!). A standard count / group by query may look like this: SELECT COUNT(`t2`.`name`) FROM `table_1` `t1` LEFT JOIN `table_2` `t2` ON `t1`.`key_id` = `t2`.`key_id` GROUP BY `t1`.`any_col` and this works as expected, returning 0 if no rows are found. So does: SELECT COUNT(`t2`.`name`) FROM `table_1` `t1` LEFT JOIN `table_2` `t2` ON `t1`.`key_id` = `t2`.`key_id` WHERE `t1`.`another_column` = 123 However: SELECT COUNT(`t2`.`name`) FROM `table_1` `t1` LEFT JOIN `table_2` `t2` ON `t1`.`key_id` = `t2`.`key_id` WHERE `t1`.`another_column` = 123 GROUP BY `t1`.`any_col` only works if there is at least one row in table_1 and fails miserably returning an empty result set if there are zero rows. I would really like this to return 0! Anyone enlighten me on this? Beer can be provided in exchange if you are in London ;-)

I want it like this: Showing 1-50 of 123 found. Now what is the formula for this? I have these variables which should be enough I think: $results_per_page = 50; //results per page $page = 1; //current page Also a variable called $num_total contains the total nr of hits, in this case 123.
